1 Samuel 26
1 Againe the Ziphims came vnto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doeth not Dauid hide him selfe in the hill of Hachilah before Ieshimon?
Cependant les Ziphéens vinrent vers Saül à Gabaa, disant: Voici que David est caché sur la colline d’Hachila, qui est vis-à-vis du désert.
2 Then Saul arose, and went downe to the wildernes of Ziph, hauing three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, for to seeke Dauid in the wildernesse of Ziph.
Et Saül se leva, et descendit au désert de Ziph, et avec lui trois mille hommes de l’élite d’Israël, pour chercher David dans le désert de Ziph.
3 And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Ieshimon by the way side. Now Dauid abode in the wildernesse, and he sawe that Saul came after him into the wildernesse.
Et Saül campa à Gabaa d’Hachila, qui était vis-à-vis de la solitude, sur le chemin; mais David habitait dans le désert. Or, voyant que Saül était venu après lui dans le désert,
4 (For Dauid had sent out spies, and vnderstood, that Saul was come in very deede)
Il envoya des espions, et il apprit que Saül y était venu très certainement.
5 Then Dauid arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched, and when Dauid beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the sonne of Ner which was his chiefe captaine, (for Saul lay in the fort, and the people pitched round about him)
David se leva donc secrètement, et il vint au lieu où était Saül; et lorsqu’il eut vu le lieu où dormait Saül, ainsi qu’Abner, fils de Ner, prince de sa milice, et Saül dormant dans sa tente, et toute la multitude autour de lui,
6 Then spake Dauid, and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the sonne of Zeruiah, brother to Ioab, saying, Who will go downe with me to Saul to the hoste? Then Abishai said, I will goe downe with thee.
David parla à Achimélech l’Héthéen, et à Abisaï, fils de Sarvia, frère de Joab, disant: Qui descendra avec moi vers Saül, dans le camp? Et Abisaï dit: Moi, je descendrai avec toi.
7 So Dauid and Abishai came downe to the people by night: and beholde, Saul lay sleeping within the fort, and his speare did sticke in the ground at his head: and Abner and the people lay round about him.
David donc et Abisaï vinrent vers le peuple pendant la nuit, et ils trouvèrent Saül couché et dormant dans sa tente, sa lance fichée dans la terre, près de sa tête, et même Abner et le peuple dormant autour de lui,
8 Then saide Abishai to Dauid, God hath closed thine enemie into thine hande this day: now therefore, I pray thee, let me smite him once with a speare to the earth, and I will not smite him againe.
Et Abisaï dit à David: Le Seigneur a enfermé ton ennemi aujourd’hui dans tes mains; maintenant donc je le percerai de la lance contre la terre une fois, et il n’y aura pas besoin d’un second coup.
9 And Dauid sayde to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can lay his hand on the Lordes anoynted, and be giltlesse?
Et David répondit à Abisaï: Ne le tue pas; car qui étendra sa main sur le christ du Seigneur, et sera innocent?
10 Moreouer Dauid said, As the Lord liueth, eyther the Lord shall smite him, or his day shall come to dye, or he shall descend into battel, and perish.
Et David ajouta: Le Seigneur vit! à moins que le Seigneur ne le frappe, ou que son jour ne soit venu de mourir, ou que, descendant au combat, il ne périsse;
11 The Lord keepe mee from laying mine hand vpon the Lordes anointed: but, I pray thee, take now the speare that is at his head, and the pot of water, and let vs goe hence.
Que le Seigneur me soit propice, afin que je n’étende pas ma main sur le christ du Seigneur; maintenant donc, prends la lance, qui est près de sa tête, et sa coupe, et allons-nous-en.
12 So Dauid tooke the speare and the pot of water from Sauls head, and they gate them away, and no man saw it, nor marked it, neither did any awake, but they were all asleepe: for the Lord had sent a dead sleepe vpon them.
David prit donc la lance, et la coupe d’eau, qui était auprès de la tête de Saül, et ils s’en allèrent; et il n’y eut personne, qui les vît, qui entendît, et qui s’éveillât; mais tous dormaient, parce qu un profond sommeil du Seigneur s’était emparé d’eux.
13 Then Dauid went vnto the other side, and stoode on the toppe of an hill a farre off, a great space being betweene them.
Et lorsque David eut passé de l’autre côté, et qu’il se fut arrêté au loin sur le sommet de la montagne, et qu’il y avait un grand intervalle entre eux,
14 And Dauid cryed to the people, and to Abner the sonne of Ner, saying, Hearest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered, and said, Who art thou that cryest to the King?
David cria au peuple et à Abner, fils de Ner, disant: Est-ce que tu ne répondras pas, Abner? Et répondant, Abner dit: Qui es-tu, toi qui cries, et qui troubles le roi?
15 And Dauid said to Abner, Art not thou a man? and who is like thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lorde the King? for there came one of the folke in to destroy the King thy lord.
Et David dit à Abner: Est-ce que tu n’es pas homme? et quel autre est semblable à toi en Israël? Pourquoi donc n’as-tu pas gardé ton seigneur, le roi? car il est entré quelqu’un de la multitude pour tuer le roi ton seigneur.
16 This is not well done of thee: as the Lord liueth, ye are worthy to dye, because ye haue not kept your master the Lordes Anointed: and now see where the Kings speare is, and the pot of water that was at his head.
Ce n’est pas bien, ce que tu as fait; le Seigneur vit! Vous êtes des fils de mort, vous qui n’avez pas gardé votre seigneur, le christ du Seigneur: maintenant donc, vois où est la lance du roi, et où est la coupe d’eau, qui était près de sa tête?
17 And Saul knewe Dauids voyce, and sayde, Is this thy voyce, my sonne Dauid? And Dauid sayde, It is my voyce, my lorde O King.
Or, Saül connut la voix de David, et dit: N’est-ce pas ta voix, mon fils David? Et David répondit: Ma voix, mon seigneur roi.
18 And he sayde, Wherefore doeth my lorde thus persecute his seruant? for what haue I done? or what euill is in mine hand?
Et il ajouta: Pour quel motif mon seigneur persécute-t-il son serviteur? Qu’ai-je fait? ou quel mal est-il en ma main?
19 Now therefore, I beseech thee, let my lord the King heare the wordes of his seruant. If the Lord haue stirred thee vp against me, let him smell the sauour of a sacrifice: but if the children of men haue done it, cursed be they before the Lord: for they haue cast me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the Lord, saying, Goe, serue other gods.
Maintenant donc, écoutez, je vous prie, mon seigneur roi, les paroles de votre serviteur: Si le Seigneur vous excite contre moi, qu’il respire l’odeur d’un sacrifice; mais si ce sont les fils des hommes, ils sont maudits en la présence du Seigneur, eux qui m’ont rejeté aujourd’hui, afin que je n’habite point dans l’héritage du Seigneur, disant: Va, sers des dieux étrangers.
20 Nowe therefore let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the Lord: for the King of Israel is come out to seeke a flea, as one would hunt a partridge in the mountaines.
Et maintenant, que mon sang ne soit point versé sur la terre devant le Seigneur, parce que le roi d’Israël est sorti pour chercher une puce, comme on poursuit la perdrix sur les montagnes.
21 Then sayde Saul, I haue sinned: come againe, my sonne Dauid: for I will doe thee no more harme, because my soule was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I haue done foolishly, and haue erred exceedingly.
Et Saül dit: J’ai péché, reviens, mon fils David; car je ne te ferai plus de mal, parce que mon âme a été précieuse à tes yeux aujourd’hui: car il paraît que j’ai agi en insensé, et que j’ai ignoré beaucoup de choses.
22 Then Dauid answered, and saide, Beholde the Kings speare, let one of the yong men come ouer and set it.
Et répondant, David dit: Voici la lance du roi; qu’un de serviteurs du roi passe ici, et qu’il la prenne.
23 And let the Lord rewarde euery man according to his righteousnesse and faithfulnesse: for the Lord had deliuered thee into mine handes this day, but I woulde not lay mine hand vpon the Lords anointed.
Mais le Seigneur rendra à chacun selon sa justice et sa foi; car le Seigneur vous a livré aujourd’hui à ma main, et je n’ai pas voulu étendre ma main sur le christ du Seigneur.
24 And beholde, like as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes: so let my life be set by in the eyes of the Lord, that he may deliuer me out of all tribulation.
Et comme votre âme a été aujourd’hui élevée à mes yeux, ainsi soit élevée mon âme aux yeux du Seigneur, et qu’il me délivre de toute angoisse.
25 Then Saul said to Dauid, Blessed art thou, my sonne Dauid: for thou shalt doe great things, and also preuaile. So Dauid went his way, and Saul returned to his place.
Saül donc dit à David; Bénis sois-tu, mon fils David; et tu achèveras certainement ce que tu feras, et tu pourras beaucoup. Or, David s’en alla en son chemin, et Saül retourna en sa demeure.
