1 Samuel 24
1 When Saul was turned from ye Philistims, they told him, saying, Behold, Dauid is in the wildernes of En-gedi.
Als Saul von den Philistern zurückkehrte, meldete man ihm: "David ist in der Wüste von Engedi."
2 Then Saul tooke three thousande chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seeke Dauid and his men vpon the rocks among the wilde goates.
Da nahm Saul 3.000 auserlesene Mannen aus ganz Israel und zog hin, um David und seine Leute vorn auf dem Steinbockfelsen zu suchen.
3 And hee came to the sheepecoates by the way where there was a caue, and Saul went in to do his easement: and Dauid and his men sate in the inward parts of the caue.
So kam er zu den Schafhürden am Wege. Hier aber war eine Höhle. Da ging Saul hinein, seine Füße zu begießen. David aber und seine Leute kauerten im Rückteile der Höhle.
4 And the men of Dauid said vnto him, See, the day is come, whereof the Lord sayde vnto thee, Beholde, I will deliuer thine enemie into thine hande, and thou shalt doe to him as it shall seeme good to thee. Then Dauid arose and cut off the lap of Sauls garment priuily.
Da sprachen Davids Mannen zu ihm: "Das ist der Tag, wovon der Herr zu dir gesprochen: 'Ich gebe deinen Feind in deine Hand, daß du mit ihm tust, wie es dir gut dünkt.'" Da stand David auf und schnitt heimlich ein Ende von Sauls Mantel ab.
5 And afterward Dauid was touched in his heart, because he had cut off the lappe which was on Sauls garment.
Nachher aber schlug David das Herz darüber, daß er dem Saul das Ende abgeschnitten habe.
6 And he said vnto his men, The Lord keepe mee from doing that thing vnto my master the Lords Anoynted, to lay mine hand vpon him: for he is the Anoynted of the Lord.
Und er sprach zu seinen Mannen: "Fern sei es von mir des Herrn wegen, daß ich so etwas meinem Herrn, dem Gesalbten des Herrn, tue und meine Hand an ihn lege! Denn er ist der Gesalbte des Herrn."
7 So Dauid ouercame his seruants with these words, and suffered them not to arise against Saul: so Saul rose vp out of the caue and went away.
Und David wies seine Leute mit Worten zurecht und erlaubte ihnen nicht, sich an Saul zu vergreifen. Saul aber verließ die Höhle und zog seines Weges.
8 Dauid also arose afterward, and went out of the caue, and cryed after Saul, saying, O my lorde the King. And when Saul looked behinde him, Dauid inclined his face to the earth, and bowed himselfe.
Da stand David hernach auf, ging aus der Höhle und rief Saul nach: "Mein Herr und König!" Da sah sich Saul um, und David neigte sich mit dem Antlitz zur Erde und huldigte.
9 And Dauid saide to Saul, Wherefore giuest thou an eare to mens words, that say, Behold, Dauid seeketh euill against thee?
Dann sprach David zu Saul: "Warum hörst du auf das Gerede der Leute, die sagen: 'David sinnt auf dein Verderben?'
10 Behold, this day thine eyes haue seene, that the Lord had deliuered thee this day into mine hand in the caue, and some bade me kill thee, but I had compassion on thee, and said, I will not lay mine hande on my master: for he is the Lordes Anoynted.
Heute sehen deine Augen, daß dich der Herr mir heute in der Höhle in die Hand gegeben hat. Man hat gesagt, ich solle dich töten. Aber mir tat es leid um dich, und ich sprach: 'Ich strecke meine Hand nicht aus wider meinen Herrn. Denn er ist des Herrn Gesalbter.'
11 Moreouer my father, behold: behold, I say, the lappe of thy garment in mine hand: for when I cut off the lappe of thy garment, I killed thee not. Vnderstad and see, that there is neither euil nor wickednesse in mee, neither haue I sinned against thee, yet thou huntest after my soule to take it.
Mein Vater! Sieh! Ja, sieh hier das Ende deines Mantels in meiner Hand! Daß ich nur deines Mantels Ende abgeschnitten und dich nicht getötet habe, daran erkenne deutlich, daß ich nicht Bosheit und Verrat im Schilde führe und daß ich mich nicht an dir vergangen habe! Du aber machst Jagd auf mein Leben.
12 The Lord be iudge betweene thee and me, and the Lord auenge me of thee, and let not mine hand be vpon thee.
Der Herr richte zwischen mir und dir! Der Herr räche mich an dir! Aber meine Hand wird nicht gegen dich sein.
13 According as the olde prouerbe sayeth, Wickednesse proceedeth from the wicked, but mine hand be not vpon thee.
Wie das alte Sprichwort sagt: 'Von Frevlern kommt Frevel'; aber meine Hand wird nicht wider dich sein.
14 After whom is the King of Israel come out? after whome doest thou pursue? after a dead dog, and after a flea?
Hinter wem zieht Israels König her? Wen verfolgst du? Einen toten Hund! Einen winzigen Floh!
15 The Lord therfore be iudge, and iudge betweene thee and me, and see, and pleade my cause, and deliuer me out of thine hand.
So sei denn der Herr Richter! Er entscheide zwischen mir und dir! Er schaue darein und führe meine Sache! Er schaffe mir Recht vor dir!"
16 Whe Dauid had made an end of speaking these words to Saul, Saul sayd, Is this thy voyce, my sonne Dauid? and Saul lift vp his voice, and wept,
Als David diese Worte an Saul geendet hatte, sprach Saul: "Ist das deine Stimme, mein Sohn David?" Und Saul hob laut zu weinen an.
17 And sayd to Dauid, Thou art more righteous then I: for thou hast rendred me good, and I haue rendred thee euill.
Er sprach zu David: "Du bist gerechter als ich. Denn du tust mir Gutes, und ich dir Böses.
18 And thou hast shewed this day, that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the Lord had closed me in thine hands, thou killedst me not.
Du hast heute gezeigt, was du mir Gutes getan, da mich der Herr in deine Hand gegeben und du mich nicht getötet hast.
19 For who shall finde his enemie, and let him depart free? wherefore the Lord render thee good for that thou hast done vnto me this day.
Trifft sonst jemand seinen Feind, läßt er ihn heilen Weges ziehen? Der Herr möge dir also Gutes vergelten für das, was du heute mir getan!
20 For now behold, I know that thou shalt be King, and that the kingdome of Israel shall be stablished in thine hand.
Nun weiß ich, daß du König wirst und daß in deiner Hand Israels Königtum Bestand hat.
21 Sweare now therfore vnto me by the Lord, that thou wilt not destroy my seede after me, and that thou wilt not abolish my name out of my fathers house.
So schwöre mir denn beim Herrn, daß du nicht meine Nachkommen nach mir ausrottest und nicht meinen Namen aus meinem Vaterhaus tilgest!"
22 So Dauid sware vnto Saul, and Saul went home: but Dauid and his men went vp vnto ye hold.
Und David schwur es Saul zu. Dann zog Saul heim. David aber und seine Leute waren inzwischen auf die Bergeshöhe gestiegen.
