1 Samuel 23

1 Then they tolde Dauid, saying, Beholde, the Philistims fight against Keilah, and spoyle the barnes.

OR egli fu rapportano e detto a Davide: Ecco, i Filistei fanno guerra a Cheila e rubano le aie.

2 Therfore Dauid asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shal I goe and smite these Philistims? And the Lord answered Dauid, Go and smite the Philistims, and saue Keilah.

E Davide domandò il Signore, dicendo: Andrò io, e percoterò que' Filistei? E il Signore disse a Davide: Va', e tu percoterai i Filistei, e libererai Cheila.

3 And Dauids men said vnto him, See, we be afrayde here in Iudah, howe much more if we come to Keilah against the hoste of ye Philistims?

E la gente di Davide gli disse: Ecco, noi, [essendo] qui in Guida, abbiamo paura; quanto più, se andiamo in Cheila, ove sono le schiere de' Filistei?

4 Then Dauid asked counsell of the Lord againe. And the Lord answered him, and sayd, Arise, go downe to Keilah: for I wil deliuer the Philistims into thine hand.

E Davide domandò di nuovo il Signore. E il Signore gli rispose, e disse: Levati, scendi in Cheila; perciocchè io darò i Filistei in man tua.

5 So Dauid and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistims, and brought away their cattel, and smote them with a great slaughter: thus Dauid saued the inhabitants of Keilah.

Davide adunque andò, con la sua gente, in Cheila, e combattè contro a' Filistei, e ne menò il lor bestiame, e li percosse d'una grande sconfitta; e liberò gli abitanti di Cheila.

6 (And when Abiathar the sonne of Ahimelech fled to Dauid to Keilah, he brought an Ephod with him)

(Or avvenne, quando Ebiatar, figliuolo di Ahimelec, fuggì a Davide in Cheila, che l'Efod gli cadde nelle mani.)

7 And it was tolde Saul that Dauid was come to Keilah, and Saul sayd, God hath deliuered him into mine hand: for he is shut in, seeing he is come into a citie that hath gates and barres.

E fu rapportato a Saulle, che Davide era venuto in Cheila. E Saulle disse: Iddio me lo ha dato nelle mani; conciossiachè egli si sia venuto a rinchiudere in una città che ha porte e sbarre.

8 Then Saul called all the people together to warre, for to go downe to Keilah, and to besiege Dauid and his men.

Saulle adunque con bando pubblico adunò tutto il popolo, per [andare al]la guerra, e per iscendere in Cheila, [ed] assediar Davide e la sua gente.

9 And Dauid hauing knowledge that Saul imagined mischiefe against him, saide to Abiathar the Priest, Bring the Ephod.

Ma Davide, avendo saputo che Saulle gli macchinava questo male, disse al sacerdote Ebiatar: Accosta l'Efod.

10 Then sayde Dauid, O Lord God of Israel, thy seruat hath heard, that Saul is about to come to Keilah to destroy the citie for my sake.

Poi Davide disse: O Signore Iddio d'Israele, il tuo servitore ha inteso per certo che Saulle cerca di venire in Cheila, per guastar la città per cagion mia.

11 Wil the lordes of Keilah deliuer me vp into his hand? and will Saul come downe, as thy seruant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy seruant. And the Lord sayde, He will come downe.

Que' di Cheila mi daranno essi nelle sue mani? Saulle scenderà egli, come il tuo servitore ha inteso? Deh! Signore Iddio d'Israele, dichiaralo al tuo servitore. E il Signore rispose: Egli scenderà.

12 Then said Dauid, Will the lords of Keilah deliuer me vp, and the men that are with me, into the hand of Saul? And the Lord sayde, They will deliuer thee vp.

Davide disse ancora: Quei di Cheila daranno essi me, e la mia gente, nelle mani di Saulle? E il Signore rispose: [Sì], essi [ti ci] daranno.

13 Then Dauid and his men, which were about sixe hundreth, arose, and departed out of Keilah, and went whither they coulde. And it was tolde Saul, that Dauid was fled from Keilah, and he left off his iourney.

Davide adunque, e la sua gente, [ch'era] d'intorno a seicent'uomini, si levarono, e uscirono di Cheila, e andarono qua e là dovunque si abbattevano d'andare. E fu rapportato a Saulle che Davide era scampato di Cheila; laonde egli restò d'uscir fuori.

14 And Dauid abode in the wildernesse in holdes, and remayned in a mountaine in the wildernes of Ziph. And Saul sought him euery day, but God deliuered him not into his hand.

E Davide stette nel deserto, in luoghi forti; poi dimorò in un monte nel deserto di Zif. E Saulle lo cercava tutto dì, ma Iddio non glielo diede nelle mani.

15 And Dauid sawe that Saul was come out for to seeke his life: and Dauid was in the wildernes of Ziph in the wood.

E Davide stava a mirare, quando Saulle usciva per cercar la sua vita.

16 And Ionathan Sauls sonne arose and went to Dauid into the wood, and comforted him in God,

Ora, mentre Davide [era] nel deserto di Zif, nelle selva, Gionatan, figliuolo di Saulle, si levò e andò a Davide nella selva, e lo confortò in Dio;

17 And said vnto him, Feare not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not finde thee, and thou shalt be King ouer Israel, and I shalbe next vnto thee: and also Saul my father knoweth it.

e gli disse: Non temere; perchè la mano di Saulle, mio padre, non ti giungerà; e tu regnerai sopra Israele, ed io sarò il secondo dopo te; e anche Saulle, mio padre, sa [che] così [avverrà].

18 So they twaine made a couenant before ye Lord: and Dauid did remaine in the wood: but Ionathan went to his house.

Fecero adunque amendue lega insieme davanti al Signore; e Davide dimorò nella selva, e Gionatan se ne andò a casa sua.

19 Then came vp the Ziphims to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doeth not Dauid hide himselfe by vs in holdes, in the wood in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the right side of Ieshimon?

Or gli Zifei salirono a Saulle in Ghibea, dicendo: Davide non si nasconde egli appresso di noi nelle fortezze [che son] nella selva, nel colle di Hachila ch'[è] dal lato meridionale del deserto?

20 Nowe therefore, O King, come downe according to all that thine heart can desire, and our part shall be to deliuer him into the Kinges handes.

Ora dunque, o re, vieni pure ad ogni tua volontà; ed a noi [starà] di metterlo nelle mani del re.

21 Then Saul said, Be ye blessed of the Lord: for ye haue had compassion on mee.

E Saulle disse loro: Benedetti [siate] voi appo il Signore, conciossiachè abbiate avuta compassione di me.

22 Goe, I pray you, and prepare ye yet better: know and see his place where he haunteth, and who hath seene him there: for it is sayd to me, He is subtile, and craftie.

Deh! andate, accertatevi ancora, e sappiate, e vedete il luogo dove egli si sarà fermato, e chi ce l'ha veduto; perciocchè mi è stato detto ch'egli usa astuzia in ogni cosa.

23 See therefore and know all the secret places where he hideth himselfe, and come ye againe to me with the certaintie, and I will goe with you: and if he be in the lande, I will searche him out throughout all the thousands of Iudah.

Vedete adunque, e sappiate [in qual luogo egli è], fra tutti i nascondimenti dove egli si suol nascondere; poi tornate a me, [sapendo la cosa] di certo, ed io andrò con voi; e se pure egli è nel paese, io lo ricercherò per tutte le migliaia di Giuda.

24 Then they arose and went to Ziph before Saul, but Dauid and his men were in the wildernesse of Maon, in the playne on the right hande of Ieshimon.

Essi adunque si levarono, e andarono in Zif, davanti a Saulle; ma Davide [era] con la sua gente, nel deserto di Maon, nella pianura [ch'è] dalla parte meridionale del deserto.

25 Saul also and his men went to seeke him, and they told Dauid: wherefore he came downe vnto a rocke, and abode in the wildernesse of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he folowed after Dauid in the wildernes of Maon.

E Saulle, con la sua gente, andò per cercarlo. Ma, la cosa essendo stata rapportata a Davide, egli scese dalla rocca, e dimorò ancora nel deserto di Maon. E Saulle, avendolo inteso, perseguitò Davide nel deserto di Maon.

26 And Saul and his men went on the one side of the mountaine, and Dauid and his men on the other side of the mountaine: and Dauid made haste to get from the presence of Saul: for Saul and his men compassed Dauid and his men round about, to take them.

E Saulle camminava da uno de' lati del monte di qua; e Davide e la sua gente dall'altro de' lati di là. E Davide si affrettava a camminare, [per salvarsi] d'innanzi a Saulle; ma Saulle e la sua gente intorniavano Davide per pigliarli.

27 But there came a messenger to Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come: for the Philistims haue inuaded the land.

Allora un messo venne a Saulle, a dirgli: Affrettati, e vieni; perciocchè i Filistei sono scorsi dentro al paese.

28 Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing Dauid, and went against the Philistims. Therefore they called that place, Sela-hammahlekoth.

Laonde Saulle se ne ritornò indietro da perseguitar Davide, e andò incontro ai Filistei; perciò a quel luogo fu posto nome: Il sasso delle separazioni.

29 And Dauid went thence, and dwelt in holdes at En-gedi.

POI Davide salì di là, e dimorò nelle fortezze di En-ghedi.
