1 Samuel 21
1 Then came Dauid to Nob, to Ahimelech the Priest, and Ahimelech was astonied at the meeting of Dauid, and saide vnto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?
Atunci David a venit la Nob, la preotul Ahimelec; și Ahimelec s-a îngrozit la întâlnirea cu David și i-a spus: De ce ești singur și niciun om cu tine?
2 And Dauid saide to Ahimelech the Priest, The King hath commanded mee a certaine thing, and hath sayd vnto me, Let no man know whereabout I sende thee, and what I haue commanded thee: and I haue appointed my seruants to such and such places.
Și David i-a spus preotului Ahimelec: Împăratul mi-a poruncit un lucru și mi-a spus: Să nu știe niciun om despre lucrul pentru care te trimit și ce ți-am poruncit; și am rânduit pe servitorii mei în cutare și cutare loc.
3 Nowe therefore if thou hast ought vnder thine hande, giue me fiue cakes of bread, or what commeth to hand.
De aceea acum, ce ai la îndemână? Dă-mi cinci pâini în mâna mea, sau ce se găsește.
4 And the Priest answered Dauid, and saide, There is no common bread vnder mine hande, but here is halowed bread, if the yong men haue kept themselues, at least from women.
Și preotul a răspuns lui David și a zis: Nu am pâine obișnuită la îndemână, dar este pâine sfântă, numai dacă tinerii s-au abținut de la femei.
5 Dauid then answered the Priest, and sayde vnto him, Certainely women haue bene separarate from vs these two or three dayes since I came out: and the vessels of the yong men were holy, though the way were prophane, and how much more then shall euery one be sanctified this day in the vessell?
Și David i-a răspuns preotului și i-a zis: Cu adevărat femeile au fost ținute departe de noi în aceste trei zile, de când am ieșit, și vasele tinerilor sunt sfinte și pâinea este într-un fel obișnuită; da, chiar dacă ar fi sfințită astăzi în vas.
6 So the Priest gaue him halowed bread: for there was no bread there, saue the shewe bread that was taken from before the Lord, to put hote bread there, the day that it was taken away.
Astfel preotul i-a dat pâinea sfințită, pentru că nu era acolo altă pâine decât pâinile punerii înainte, care au fost luate dinaintea DOMNULUI, pentru a pune pâine fierbinte în ziua când au fost luate.
7 (And there was the same day one of the seruants of Saul abiding before the Lord, named Doeg the Edomite, the chiefest of Sauls heardmen)
Și un anumit om dintre servitorii lui Saul era acolo în acea zi, închis înaintea DOMNULUI; și numele lui era Doeg, un edomit, căpetenia păstorilor lui Saul.
8 And Dauid said vnto Ahimelech, Is there not here vnder thine hand a speare or a sworde? for I haue neither brought my sworde nor mine harnesse with me, because the Kings businesse required haste.
Și David i-a spus lui Ahimelec: Și nu ai aici la îndemână o suliță sau o sabie? Fiindcă nu mi-am adus nici sabia, nici armele cu mine, deoarece treaba împăratului cerea grabă.
9 And the Priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistim, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is wrapt in a cloth behinde the Ephod: if thou wilt take that to thee, take it: for there is none other saue that here: And Dauid sayd, There is none to that, giue it me.
Și preotul i-a spus: Sabia lui Goliat filisteanul, pe care l-ai ucis în valea Elah; iată, este aici, învelită într-o pânză în spatele efodului, dacă dorești să o iei, ia-o, pentru că nu este alta aici decât aceasta. Și David a spus: Nu este alta ca ea, dă-mi-o.
10 And Dauid arose and fled the same day from the presence of Saul, and went to Achish the King of Gath.
Și David s-a ridicat și a fugit în acea zi de frica lui Saul și a mers la Achiș, împăratul Gatului.
11 And the seruants of Achish said vnto him, Is not this Dauid the King of the land? did they not sing vnto him in daunces, saying, Saul hath slayne his thousand, and Dauid his ten thousande?
Și servitorii lui Achiș i-au spus: Nu este acesta David, împăratul țării? Nu au cântat una alteia despre el în dansuri, spunând: Saul a ucis miile lui și David zecile lui de mii?
12 And Dauid considered these wordes, and was sore afraide of Achish the King of Gath.
Și David a pus aceste cuvinte la inimă și s-a temut foarte mult de Achiș, împăratul Gatului.
13 And hee changed his behauiour before them, and fayned him selfe mad in their handes, and scrabled on the doores of the gate, and let his spettel fall downe vpon his beard.
Și și-a schimbat purtarea înaintea lor și s-a prefăcut nebun în mâinile lor și zgâria ușile porții și lăsa să îi curgă scuipatul pe barbă.
14 Then said Achish vnto his seruants, Lo, ye see the man is beside him selfe, wherefore haue ye brought him to me?
Atunci Achiș a spus servitorilor săi: Iată, vedeți că omul este nebun, pentru ce atunci l-ați adus la mine?
15 Haue I neede of mad men, that ye haue brought this fellowe to play the mad man in my presence? shall he come into mine house?
Am eu nevoie de oameni nebuni, că ați adus pe acesta să facă pe nebunul în prezența mea? Să intre acesta în casa mea?
