1 Samuel 10

1 Then Samuel tooke a viole of oyle and powred it vpon his head, and kissed him, and saide, Hath not the Lord anointed thee to be gouernour ouer his inheritance?

Tomando então Samuel um frasco de azeite, derramou-o sobre sua cabeça, e beijou-o, e disse-lhe: Não foi o SENHOR que te ungiu para que sejas líder sobre sua propriedade?

2 When thou shalt depart from me this day, thou shalt finde two men by Rahels sepulchre in the border of Beniamin, euen at Zelzah, and they will say vnto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seeke, are founde: and lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and soroweth for you, saying, What shall I doe for my sonne?

Hoje, depois que te tenhas apartado de mim, acharás dois homens junto ao sepulcro de Raquel, no termo de Benjamim, em Zelza, os quais te dirão: As asnas que havias ido a buscar, se acharam; teu pai pois há deixado já o negócio das asnas, porém está preocupado convosco, dizendo: Que farei acerca de meu filho?

3 Then shalt thou go forth from thence and shalt come to the plaine of Tabor, and there shall meete thee three men going vp to God to Bethel: one carying three kiddes, and an other carying three loaues of bread, and another carying a bottle of wine:

E quando dali te fores mais adiante, e chegares à campina de Tabor, te sairão ao encontro três homens que sobem a Deus em Betel, levando o um três cabritos, e o outro três tortas de pão, e o terceiro uma vasilha de vinho:

4 And they will aske thee if all be well, and will giue thee the two loaues of bread, which thou shalt receiue of their handes.

Os quais, logo que te tenham saudado, te darão dois pães, os quais tomarás das mãos deles.

5 After that shalt thou come to the hill of God, where is the garisons of the Philistims: and when thou art come thither to the citie, thou shalt meete a companie of Prophets comming downe from the hie place with a viole, and a tymbrell, and a pipe, and an harpe before them, and they shall prophecie.

De ali virás ao morro de Deus de onde está a guarnição dos filisteus; e quando entrares ali na cidade encontrarás uma companhia de profetas que descem do alto, e diante deles saltério, e adufe, e flauta, e harpa, e eles profetizando:

6 Then the Spirit of the Lord will come vpon thee, and thou shalt prophecie with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

E o espírito do SENHOR te arrebatará, e profetizarás com eles, e serás transformado em outro homem.

7 Therefore when these signes shall come vnto to thee, doe as occasion shall serue: for God is with thee.

E quando te houverem sobrevindo estas sinais, faze o que te vier à mão, porque Deus é contigo.

8 And thou shalt goe downe before me to Gilgal: and I also will come downe vnto thee to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace. Tary for me seuen dayes, till I come to thee and shewe thee what thou shalt doe.

E descerás antes de mim a Gilgal; e logo descerei eu a ti para sacrificar holocaustos, e imolar sacrifícios pacíficos. Espera sete dias, até que eu venha a ti, e te ensine o que hás de fazer.

9 And when he had turned his backe to goe from Samuel, God gaue him another heart: and all those tokens came to passe that same day.

E foi que assim quando virou ele seu ombro para partir-se de Samuel, mudou-lhe Deus seu coração; e todas estes sinais aconteceram naquele dia.

10 And when they came thither to the hill, beholde, the companie of Prophets meete him, and the Spirit of God came vpon him, and he prophecied among them.

E quando chegaram ali ao morro, eis que a companhia dos profetas que vinha a encontrar-se com ele, e o Espírito de Deus o arrebatou, e profetizou entre eles.

11 Therefore all the people that knewe him before, when they saw that he prophecied among the Prophets, saide eche to other, What is come vnto the sonne of Kish? is Saul also among the Prophets?

E aconteceu que, quando todos os que o conheciam de antes viram como profetizava com os profetas, o povo dizia o um ao outro: Que sucedeu ao filho de Quis? Saul também entre os profetas?

12 And one of the same place answered, and said, But who is their father? Therefore it was a prouerbe, Is Saul also among the Prophets?

E algum dali respondeu, e disse: E quem é o pai deles? Por esta causa se tornou em provérbio: Também Saul entre os profetas?

13 And when he had made an ende of prophecying, he came to the hie place.

E cessou de profetizar, e chegou ao alto.

14 And Sauls vncle saide vnto him, and to his seruant, Whither went ye? And he saide, To seeke the asses: and when we sawe that they were no where, we came to Samuel.

E um tio de Saul disse a ele e a seu criado: Aonde fostes? E ele respondeu: A buscar as asnas; e quando vimos que não apareciam, fomos a Samuel.

15 And Sauls vncle saide, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said vnto you.

E disse o tio de Saul: Eu te rogo me declares que vos disse Samuel.

16 Then Saul saide to his vncle, He tolde vs plainely that the asses were founde: but concerning the kingdome whereof Samuel spake, tolde he him not.

E Saul respondeu a seu tio: Declarou-nos expressamente que as asnas haviam aparecido. Mas do negócio do reino, de que Samuel lhe havia falado, não lhe revelou nada.

17 And Samuel assembled the people vnto the Lord in Mizpeh,

E Samuel convocou o povo ao SENHOR em Mispá;

18 And he saide vnto the children of Israel, Thus saith ye Lord God of Israel, I haue brought Israel out of Egypt, and deliuered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the handes of all kingdomes that troubled you.

E disse aos filhos de Israel: Assim disse o SENHOR o Deus de Israel: Eu tirei a Israel do Egito, e vos livre da mão dos egípcios, e da mão de todos os reinos que vos afligiram:

19 But ye haue this day cast away your God, who onely deliuereth you out of all your aduersities and tribulations: and ye said vnto him, No, but appoint a King ouer vs. Nowe therefore stand ye before the Lord according to your tribes, and according to your thousands.

Mas vós rejeitastes hoje a vosso Deus, que vos guarda de todas as vossas aflições e angústias, e dissestes: Não, mas sim põe rei sobre nós. Agora pois, ponde-vos diante do SENHOR por vossas tribos e por vossos milhares.

20 And when Samuel had gathered together all the tribes of Israel, the tribe of Beniamin was taken.

E fazendo achegar Samuel todas as tribos de Israel, foi tomada a tribo de Benjamim.

21 Afterwarde he assembled the tribe of Beniamin according to their families, and the familie of Matri was taken. So Saul the sonne of Kish was taken, and when they sought him, he coulde not be found.

E fez chegar a tribo de Benjamim por suas linhagens, e foi tomada a família de Matri; e dela foi tomado Saul filho de Quis. E lhe buscaram, mas não foi achado.

22 Therefore they asked the Lord againe, if that man should yet come thither. And the Lord answered, Beholde, he hath hid himselfe among the stuffe.

Perguntaram pois outra vez ao SENHOR, se havia ainda de vir ali aquele homem. E respondeu o SENHOR: Eis que ele está escondido entre a bagagem.

23 And they ranne, and brought him thence: and when he stoode among the people, he was hier then any of the people from the shoulders vpwarde.

Então correram, e tomaram-no dali, e posto em meio do povo, desde o ombro acima era mais alto que todo o povo.

24 And Samuel saide to all the people, See ye not him, whom the Lord hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? and all the people shouted and saide, God saue the King.

E Samuel disse a todo o povo: Vistes ao que o SENHOR escolheu, que não há semelhante a ele em todo o povo? Então o povo clamou com alegria, dizendo: Viva o rei!

25 Then Samuel tolde the people the duetie of the kingdome, and wrote it in a booke, and laied it vp before the Lord, and Samuel sent all the people away euery man to his house.

Então Samuel recitou ao povo o direito do reino, e escreveu-o em um livro, o qual guardou diante do SENHOR.

26 Saul also went home to Gibeah, and there followed him a bande of men, whose heart God had touched,

E enviou Samuel a todo o povo cada um a sua casa. E Saul também se foi a sua casa em Gibeá, e foram com ele o exército, o coração dos quais Deus havia tocado.

27 But the wicked men saide, Howe shall hee saue vs? So they despised him, and brought him no presents: but he held his tongue.

Porém os ímpios disseram: Como nos há de salvar este? E tiveram-lhe em pouco, e não lhe trouxeram presente: mas ele dissimulou.
