1 Samuel 10

1 Then Samuel tooke a viole of oyle and powred it vpon his head, and kissed him, and saide, Hath not the Lord anointed thee to be gouernour ouer his inheritance?

آنگاه سموئیل، ظرفی از روغن زیتون گرفته، بر سر شائول ریخت و صورت او را بوسیده، گفت: «خداوند تو را برگزیده است تا بر قوم او پادشاهی کنی.

2 When thou shalt depart from me this day, thou shalt finde two men by Rahels sepulchre in the border of Beniamin, euen at Zelzah, and they will say vnto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seeke, are founde: and lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and soroweth for you, saying, What shall I doe for my sonne?

وقتی امروز از نزد من بروی در سرحد بنیامین، کنار قبر راحیل، در صَلصَح با دو مرد روبرو خواهی شد. آنها به تو خواهند گفت که پدرت الاغها را پیدا کرده و حالا برای تو نگران است و می‌گوید: چطور پسرم را پیدا کنم؟

3 Then shalt thou go forth from thence and shalt come to the plaine of Tabor, and there shall meete thee three men going vp to God to Bethel: one carying three kiddes, and an other carying three loaues of bread, and another carying a bottle of wine:

بعد وقتی به درخت بلوط تابور رسیدی سه نفر را می‌بینی که به بیت‌ئیل می‌روند تا خدا را پرستش نمایند. یکی از آنها سه بزغاله، دیگری سه قرص نان و سومی یک مشک شراب همراه دارد.

4 And they will aske thee if all be well, and will giue thee the two loaues of bread, which thou shalt receiue of their handes.

آنها به تو سلام کرده، دو نان به تو خواهند داد و تو آنها را از دست ایشان می‌گیری.

5 After that shalt thou come to the hill of God, where is the garisons of the Philistims: and when thou art come thither to the citie, thou shalt meete a companie of Prophets comming downe from the hie place with a viole, and a tymbrell, and a pipe, and an harpe before them, and they shall prophecie.

بعد از آن به کوه خدا در جِبعه خواهی رفت که اردوگاه فلسطینی‌ها در آنجاست. وقتی به شهر نزدیک شدی با عده‌ای از انبیا روبرو خواهی شد که از کوه به زیر می‌آیند و با نغمهٔ چنگ و دف و نی و بربط نوازندگان، نبوّت می‌کنند.

6 Then the Spirit of the Lord will come vpon thee, and thou shalt prophecie with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

در همان موقع، روح خداوند بر تو خواهد آمد و تو نیز با ایشان نبوّت خواهی کرد و به شخص دیگری تبدیل خواهی شد.

7 Therefore when these signes shall come vnto to thee, doe as occasion shall serue: for God is with thee.

وقتی این علامت‌ها را دیدی، هر چه از دستت برآید انجام بده، زیرا خدا با تو خواهد بود.

8 And thou shalt goe downe before me to Gilgal: and I also will come downe vnto thee to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace. Tary for me seuen dayes, till I come to thee and shewe thee what thou shalt doe.

بعد به جلجال برو و در آنجا هفت روز منتظر من باش تا بیایم و قربانیهای سوختنی و قربانیهای سلامتی به خدا تقدیم کنم. وقتی بیایم به تو خواهم گفت که چه باید بکنی.»

9 And when he had turned his backe to goe from Samuel, God gaue him another heart: and all those tokens came to passe that same day.

وقتی شائول از سموئیل جدا شد تا برود، خدا قلب تازه‌ای به او بخشید و همان روز تمام پیشگویی‌های سموئیل به حقیقت پیوست.

10 And when they came thither to the hill, beholde, the companie of Prophets meete him, and the Spirit of God came vpon him, and he prophecied among them.

وقتی شائول و نوکرش به جِبعه رسیدند، گروهی از انبیا به او برخوردند. ناگهان روح خدا بر شائول آمد و او نیز همراه آنها شروع به نبوّت کردن نمود.

11 Therefore all the people that knewe him before, when they saw that he prophecied among the Prophets, saide eche to other, What is come vnto the sonne of Kish? is Saul also among the Prophets?

کسانی که شائول را می‌شناختند وقتی او را دیدند که نبوّت می‌کند متعجب شده، به یکدیگر گفتند: «چه اتفاقی برای پسر قیس افتاده است؟ آیا شائول هم نبی شده است؟»

12 And one of the same place answered, and said, But who is their father? Therefore it was a prouerbe, Is Saul also among the Prophets?

یک نفر از اهالی آنجا گفت: «مگر نبی بودن به اصل و نسب ربط دارد؟» و این یک ضرب‌المثل شد: «شائول هم نبی شده است.»

13 And when he had made an ende of prophecying, he came to the hie place.

وقتی شائول از نبوّت کردن فارغ شد به بالای کوه رفت.

14 And Sauls vncle saide vnto him, and to his seruant, Whither went ye? And he saide, To seeke the asses: and when we sawe that they were no where, we came to Samuel.

آنگاه عموی شائول او و نوکرش را دید و پرسید: «کجا رفته بودید؟» شائول جواب داد: «به جستجوی الاغها رفتیم ولی آنها را پیدا نکردیم، پس نزد سموئیل رفتیم.»

15 And Sauls vncle saide, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said vnto you.

عمویش پرسید: «او چه گفت؟»

16 Then Saul saide to his vncle, He tolde vs plainely that the asses were founde: but concerning the kingdome whereof Samuel spake, tolde he him not.

شائول جواب داد: «او گفت که الاغها پیدا شده‌اند.» ولی شائول دربارهٔ آنچه سموئیل راجع به پادشاه شدنش گفته بود، چیزی به عموی خود نگفت.

17 And Samuel assembled the people vnto the Lord in Mizpeh,

سموئیل همهٔ مردم اسرائیل را در مصفه به حضور خداوند جمع کرد،

18 And he saide vnto the children of Israel, Thus saith ye Lord God of Israel, I haue brought Israel out of Egypt, and deliuered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the handes of all kingdomes that troubled you.

و از جانب خداوند، خدای اسرائیل این پیغام را به ایشان داد: «من شما را از مصر بیرون آوردم و شما را از دست مصری‌ها و همهٔ قومهایی که بر شما ظلم می‌کردند، نجات دادم. اما شما مرا که خدایتان هستم و شما را از سختیها و مصیبتها رهانیده‌ام، امروز رد نموده، گفتید: ما پادشاهی می‌خواهیم که بر ما حکومت کند. پس حال با قبیله‌ها و خاندانهای خود در حضور خداوند حاضر شوید.»

19 But ye haue this day cast away your God, who onely deliuereth you out of all your aduersities and tribulations: and ye said vnto him, No, but appoint a King ouer vs. Nowe therefore stand ye before the Lord according to your tribes, and according to your thousands.

20 And when Samuel had gathered together all the tribes of Israel, the tribe of Beniamin was taken.

سموئیل قبیله‌ها را به حضور خداوند فرا خواند. سپس قرعه انداخته شد و قبیلهٔ بنیامین انتخاب شد.

21 Afterwarde he assembled the tribe of Beniamin according to their families, and the familie of Matri was taken. So Saul the sonne of Kish was taken, and when they sought him, he coulde not be found.

آنگاه او خاندانهای قبیلهٔ بنیامین را به حضور خداوند خواند و خاندان مَطری انتخاب گردید و از این خاندان قرعه به نام شائول، پسر قیس درآمد. ولی وقتی شائول را صدا کردند، او در آنجا نبود.

22 Therefore they asked the Lord againe, if that man should yet come thither. And the Lord answered, Beholde, he hath hid himselfe among the stuffe.

آنها برای یافتن او از خداوند کمک طلبیدند و خداوند به ایشان فرمود که او خود را در میان بار و بنهٔ سفر پنهان کرده است.

23 And they ranne, and brought him thence: and when he stoode among the people, he was hier then any of the people from the shoulders vpwarde.

پس دویدند و او را از آنجا آوردند. وقتی او در میان مردم ایستاد یک سر و گردن از همه بلندتر بود.

24 And Samuel saide to all the people, See ye not him, whom the Lord hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? and all the people shouted and saide, God saue the King.

آنگاه سموئیل به مردم گفت: «این است آن پادشاهی که خداوند برای شما برگزیده است. در میان قوم اسرائیل کسی مانند او نیست.» مردم فریاد زدند: «زنده باد پادشاه!»

25 Then Samuel tolde the people the duetie of the kingdome, and wrote it in a booke, and laied it vp before the Lord, and Samuel sent all the people away euery man to his house.

سموئیل بار دیگر، حقوق و وظایف پادشاه را برای قوم توضیح داد و آنها را در کتابی نوشته، در مکانی مخصوص به حضور خداوند نهاد؛ سپس مردم را به خانه‌هایشان فرستاد.

26 Saul also went home to Gibeah, and there followed him a bande of men, whose heart God had touched,

چون شائول به خانهٔ خود در جِبعه مراجعت نمود، خدا عده‌ای از مردان نیرومند را برانگیخت تا همراه وی باشند.

27 But the wicked men saide, Howe shall hee saue vs? So they despised him, and brought him no presents: but he held his tongue.

اما بعضی از افراد ولگرد و هرزه فریاد برآورده، می‌گفتند: «این مرد چطور می‌تواند ما را نجات دهد؟» پس او را تحقیر کرده، برایش هدیه نیاوردند ولی شائول اعتنایی نکرد.
