1 Samuel 10
1 Then Samuel tooke a viole of oyle and powred it vpon his head, and kissed him, and saide, Hath not the Lord anointed thee to be gouernour ouer his inheritance?
Samuele prese allora l'ampolla dell'olio e gliela versò sulla testa, poi lo baciò dicendo: «Ecco: il Signore ti ha unto capo sopra Israele suo popolo. Tu avrai potere sul popolo del Signore e tu lo libererai dalle mani dei nemici che gli stanno intorno. Questo ti sarà il segno che proprio il Signore ti ha unto capo sulla sua casa:
2 When thou shalt depart from me this day, thou shalt finde two men by Rahels sepulchre in the border of Beniamin, euen at Zelzah, and they will say vnto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seeke, are founde: and lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and soroweth for you, saying, What shall I doe for my sonne?
oggi, quando sarai partito da me, troverai due uomini presso il sepolcro di Rachele sul confine con Beniamino in Zelzach. Essi ti diranno: Sono state ritrovate le asine che sei andato a cercare. Ecco tuo padre non bada più alla faccenda delle asine, ma è preoccupato di voi e va dicendo: Che devo fare per mio figlio?
3 Then shalt thou go forth from thence and shalt come to the plaine of Tabor, and there shall meete thee three men going vp to God to Bethel: one carying three kiddes, and an other carying three loaues of bread, and another carying a bottle of wine:
Passerai in fretta di là e andrai oltre; quando arriverai alla quercia del Tabor, vi troverete tre uomini in viaggio per salire a Dio in Betel: uno porterà tre capretti, l'altro porterà tre pani rotondi, il terzo porterà un otre di vino.
4 And they will aske thee if all be well, and will giue thee the two loaues of bread, which thou shalt receiue of their handes.
Ti domanderanno se stai bene e ti daranno due pani, che tu prenderai dalle loro mani.
5 After that shalt thou come to the hill of God, where is the garisons of the Philistims: and when thou art come thither to the citie, thou shalt meete a companie of Prophets comming downe from the hie place with a viole, and a tymbrell, and a pipe, and an harpe before them, and they shall prophecie.
Giungerai poi a Gàbaa di Dio, dove c'è una guarnigione di Filistei e mentre entrerai in città, incontrerai un gruppo di profeti che scenderanno dall'altura preceduti da arpe, timpani, flauti e cetre, in atto di fare i profeti.
6 Then the Spirit of the Lord will come vpon thee, and thou shalt prophecie with them, and shalt be turned into another man.
Lo spirito del Signore investirà anche te e ti metterai a fare il profeta insieme con loro e sarai trasformato in un altro uomo.
7 Therefore when these signes shall come vnto to thee, doe as occasion shall serue: for God is with thee.
Quando questi segni che ti riguardano saranno accaduti, farai come vorrai, perché Dio sarà con te.
8 And thou shalt goe downe before me to Gilgal: and I also will come downe vnto thee to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace. Tary for me seuen dayes, till I come to thee and shewe thee what thou shalt doe.
Tu poi scenderai a Gàlgala precedendomi. Io scenderò in seguito presso di te per offrire olocausti e immolare sacrifici di comunione. Sette giorni aspetterai, finché io verrò a te e ti indicherò quello che dovrai fare».
9 And when he had turned his backe to goe from Samuel, God gaue him another heart: and all those tokens came to passe that same day.
Ed ecco, quando quegli ebbe voltato le spalle per partire da Samuele, Dio gli mutò il cuore e tutti questi segni si verificarono il giorno stesso.
10 And when they came thither to the hill, beholde, the companie of Prophets meete him, and the Spirit of God came vpon him, and he prophecied among them.
I due arrivarono là a Gàbaa ed ecco, mentre una schiera di profeti avanzava di fronte a loro, lo spirito di Dio lo investì e si mise a fare il profeta in mezzo a loro.
11 Therefore all the people that knewe him before, when they saw that he prophecied among the Prophets, saide eche to other, What is come vnto the sonne of Kish? is Saul also among the Prophets?
Allora quanti lo avevano conosciuto prima, vedendolo d'un tratto fare il profeta con i profeti, si dissero l'un l'altro fra la gente: «Che è accaduto al figlio di Kis? E' dunque anche Saul tra i profeti?».
12 And one of the same place answered, and said, But who is their father? Therefore it was a prouerbe, Is Saul also among the Prophets?
Uno del luogo disse: «E chi è il loro padre?». Per questo passò in proverbio l'espressione: «E' dunque anche Saul tra i profeti?».
13 And when he had made an ende of prophecying, he came to the hie place.
Quando ebbe terminato di profetare andò sull'altura.
14 And Sauls vncle saide vnto him, and to his seruant, Whither went ye? And he saide, To seeke the asses: and when we sawe that they were no where, we came to Samuel.
Lo zio di Saul chiese poi a lui e al suo servo: «Dove siete andati?». Rispose: «A cercare le asine e, vedendo che non c'erano, ci siamo recati da Samuele».
15 And Sauls vncle saide, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said vnto you.
Lo zio di Saul soggiunse: «Suvvia, raccontami quello che vi ha detto Samuele».
16 Then Saul saide to his vncle, He tolde vs plainely that the asses were founde: but concerning the kingdome whereof Samuel spake, tolde he him not.
Saul rispose allo zio: «Ci ha assicurato che le asine erano state ritrovate». Ma non gli riferì il discorso del regno, che gli aveva tenuto Samuele.
17 And Samuel assembled the people vnto the Lord in Mizpeh,
Samuele radunò il popolo davanti a Dio in Mizpa
18 And he saide vnto the children of Israel, Thus saith ye Lord God of Israel, I haue brought Israel out of Egypt, and deliuered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the handes of all kingdomes that troubled you.
e disse a tutti gli Israeliti: «Dice il Signore Dio d'Israele: Io ho fatto uscire Israele dall'Egitto e l'ho liberato dalla mano degli Egiziani e dalla mano di tutti i regni che vi opprimevano.
19 But ye haue this day cast away your God, who onely deliuereth you out of all your aduersities and tribulations: and ye said vnto him, No, but appoint a King ouer vs. Nowe therefore stand ye before the Lord according to your tribes, and according to your thousands.
Ma voi oggi avete ripudiato il vostro Dio, il quale solo vi salva da tutti i vostri mali e da tutte le angosce. E avete detto: No, costituisci un re sopra di noi! Ora presentatevi a Dio distinti per tribù e per famiglie».
20 And when Samuel had gathered together all the tribes of Israel, the tribe of Beniamin was taken.
Samuele fece accostare ogni tribù d'Israele e fu sorteggiata la tribù di Beniamino.
21 Afterwarde he assembled the tribe of Beniamin according to their families, and the familie of Matri was taken. So Saul the sonne of Kish was taken, and when they sought him, he coulde not be found.
Fece poi accostare la tribù di Beniamino distinta per famiglie e fu sorteggiata la famiglia di Matri. Fece allora venire la famiglia di Matri per singoli individui e fu sorteggiato Saul figlio di Kis. Si misero a cercarlo ma non si riuscì a trovarlo.
22 Therefore they asked the Lord againe, if that man should yet come thither. And the Lord answered, Beholde, he hath hid himselfe among the stuffe.
Allora consultarono di nuovo il Signore: «E' venuto qui l'uomo o no?». Rispose il Signore: «Eccolo nascosto in mezzo ai bagagli».
23 And they ranne, and brought him thence: and when he stoode among the people, he was hier then any of the people from the shoulders vpwarde.
Corsero a prenderlo di là e fu presentato al popolo: egli sopravanzava dalla spalla in su tutto il popolo.
24 And Samuel saide to all the people, See ye not him, whom the Lord hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? and all the people shouted and saide, God saue the King.
Samuele disse a tutta la folla: «Vedete dunque che l'ha proprio eletto il Signore, perché non c'è nessuno in tutto il popolo come lui». Tutto il popolo proruppe in un grido: «Viva il re!».
25 Then Samuel tolde the people the duetie of the kingdome, and wrote it in a booke, and laied it vp before the Lord, and Samuel sent all the people away euery man to his house.
Samuele espose a tutto il popolo i diritti del regno e li scrisse in un libro che depositò davanti al Signore. Poi Samuele congedò tutto il popolo perché andasse ognuno a casa sua.
26 Saul also went home to Gibeah, and there followed him a bande of men, whose heart God had touched,
Anche Saul tornò a casa in Gàbaa e con lui si accompagnarono uomini valenti ai quali Dio aveva toccato il cuore.
27 But the wicked men saide, Howe shall hee saue vs? So they despised him, and brought him no presents: but he held his tongue.
Ma altri, individui spregevoli, dissero: «Potrà forse salvarci costui?». Così lo disprezzarono e non vollero portargli alcun dono.
