1 Kings 9
1 When Salomon had finished the building of the house of ye Lord, and the kings palace, and all that Salomon desired and minded to do,
শলোমন যখন সদাপ্রভুর মন্দির ও রাজপ্রাসাদ নির্মাণ করার কাজ সমাপ্ত করলেন, এবং তাঁর যা যা করার বাসনা ছিল, সেসব অর্জন করে ফেলেছিলেন,
2 Then the Lord appeared vnto Salomon the second time, as he appeared vnto him at Gibeon.
সদাপ্রভু তখন দ্বিতীয়বার তাঁর কাছে আবির্ভূত হলেন, যেভাবে একবার তিনি গিবিয়োনে তাঁর কাছে আবির্ভূত হলেন।
3 And the Lord sayd vnto him, I haue heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I haue halowed this house (which thou hast built) to put my Name there for euer, and mine eyes, and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
সদাপ্রভু তাঁকে বললেন: “তুমি আমার কাছে যে প্রার্থনা ও মিনতি জানিয়েছ, আমি তা শুনেছি; আমার নাম চিরকালের জন্য তোমার নির্মাণ করা মন্দিরে স্থাপন করে আমি সেটি পবিত্র করে দিয়েছি। আমার চোখের দৃষ্টি ও আমার অন্তর সবসময় সেখানে থাকবে।
4 And if thou wilt walke before mee (as Dauid thy father walked in purenesse of heart and in righteousnesse) to doe according to al that I haue commanded thee, and keepe my statutes, and my iudgements,
“আর তোমায় বলছি, তোমার বাবা দাউদের মতো তুমিও যদি আমার সামনে অন্তরের সততা ও ন্যায়পরায়ণতা সমেত বিশ্বস্ততাপূর্বক চলো, এবং আমি যা যা আদেশ দিয়েছি, সেসব করো ও আমার বিধিবিধান ও নিয়মকানুনগুলি পালন করো,
5 Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdome vpon Israel for euer, as I promised to Dauid thy father, saying, Thou shalt not want a man vpon the throne of Israel.
তবে চিরকালের জন্য আমি ইস্রায়েলের উপর তোমার রাজসিংহাসন স্থায়ী করব, ঠিক যেমনটি আমি তোমার বাবা দাউদের কাছে এই কথা বলে প্রতিজ্ঞা করলাম, ‘ইস্রায়েলের সিংহাসনে তোমার স্থলাভিষিক্ত হওয়ার জন্য কোনও লোকের অভাব হবে না।’
6 But if ye and your children turne away from mee, and wil not keepe my commandements, and my statutes (which I haue set before you) but go and serue other gods, and worship them,
“কিন্তু যদি তুমি বা তোমার বংশধররা আমার কাছ থেকে দূরে সরে যাও ও আমি তোমাকে যে যে আদেশ ও বিধিবিধান দিয়েছি, সেগুলি পালন না করো ও অন্যান্য দেবদেবীর সেবা ও আরাধনা করতে থাকো,
7 Then will I cutte off Israel from the lande, which I haue giuen them, and the house which I haue halowed for my Name, will I cast out of my sight, and Israel shall be a prouerbe, and a common talke among all people.
তবে আমি ইস্রায়েলকে যে দেশ দিয়েছি, সেই দেশ থেকে তাদের উৎখাত করব ও এই যে মন্দিরটি আমি আমার নামের উদ্দেশে পবিত্র করেছি, সেটিও অগ্রাহ্য করব। ইস্রায়েল তখন সব লোকজনের কাছে অবজ্ঞার ও উপহাসের এক পাত্রে পরিণত হবে।
8 Euen this hie house shall bee so: euery one that passeth by it, shalbe astonied, and shall hisse, and they shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus vnto this land and to this house?
এই মন্দিরটি ভাঙা ইটপাথরের এক স্তূপে পরিণত হবে। যারা যারা তখন এখান দিয়ে যাবে, তারা সবাই মর্মাহত হবে, টিটকিরি করবে ও বলবে, ‘সদাপ্রভু কেন এই দেশের ও এই মন্দিরটির প্রতি এমনটি করলেন?’
9 And they shall answere, Because they forsooke the Lord their God, which brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and haue taken holde vpon other gods, and haue worshipped them, and serued them, therfore hath the Lord brought vpon them all this euill.
লোকেরা উত্তর দেবে, ‘যেহেতু তারা তাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে পরিত্যাগ করল, যিনি মিশর থেকে তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের বের করে এনেছিলেন, এবং যেহেতু তারা অন্যান্য দেবতাদের সাগ্রহে গ্রহণ করল, ও তাদের আরাধনা ও সেবা করল—তাইতো তিনি তাদের উপর এইসব দুর্বিপাক নিয়ে এসেছেন।’”
10 And at the ende of twentie yeeres, when Salomon had buylded the two houses, the house of the Lord, and the Kings palace,
যে কুড়ি বছর ধরে শলোমন এই দুটি ভবন—সদাপ্রভুর মন্দির ও রাজপ্রাসাদ—নির্মাণ করলেন, তা পার হয়ে যাওয়ার পর
11 (For the which Hiram the King of Tyrus had brought to Salomon timber of cedar, and firre trees, and golde, and whatsoeuer he desired) then King Salomon gaue to Hiram twentie cities in the land of Galil.
রাজা শলোমন গালীল প্রদেশের কুড়িটি নগর সোরের রাজা হীরমকে দিলেন, কারণ হীরম তাঁর চাহিদানুসারে যাবতীয় দেবদারু ও চিরহরিৎ কাঠ এবং সোনাদানা সরবরাহ করলেন।
12 And Hiram came out from Tyrus to see the cities which Salomon had giuen him, and they pleased him not.
কিন্তু যে নগরগুলি শলোমন হীরমকে দিলেন, তিনি যখন সেগুলি দেখতে গেলেন, তখন সেগুলি তাঁর খুব একটি পছন্দ হয়নি।
13 Therefore hee sayde, What cities are these which thou hast giuen me, my brother? And hee called them the land of Cabul vnto this day.
“ভাইটি, আপনি আমাকে এসব কী নগর দিয়েছেন?” তিনি জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন। আর তিনি সেগুলির নাম দিলেন কাবুল দেশ, আর এই নামটিই আজও পর্যন্ত রয়ে গিয়েছে।
14 And Hiram had sent the King sixe score talents of gold.
ইত্যবসরে হীরম রাজামশাইকে একশো কুড়ি তালন্ত সোনা পাঠালেন।
15 And this is the cause of the tribute why King Salomon raised tribute, to wit, to builde the house of the Lord, and his owne house, and Millo, and the wall of Ierusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.
রাজা শলোমন যেসব বেগার শ্রমিককে বাধ্যতামূলকভাবে সদাপ্রভুর মন্দির, তাঁর নিজের প্রাসাদ, উঁচু চাতাল, জেরুশালেমের প্রাচীর, এবং হাৎসোর, মগিদ্দো ও গেষর গাঁথার কাজে লাগলেন, এই হল তাদের বিবরণ।
16 Pharaoh King of Egypt had come vp, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slew the Canaanites, that dwelt in the citie, and gaue it for a present vnto his daughter Salomons wife.
(মিশরের রাজা ফরৌণ গেষর আক্রমণ করে তা অধিকার করে নিয়েছিলেন। সেখানে তিনি আগুন ধরিয়ে দিলেন। তিনি সেখানকার কনানীয় অধিবাসীদের হত্যা করে সেটি তাঁর মেয়ে, শলোমনের স্ত্রীকে বিয়ের যৌতুকরূপে উপহার দিলেন।
17 (Therefore Salomon builte Gezer and Beth-horon the nether,
আর শলোমন গেষর নগরটি পুনর্নির্মাণ করলেন) তিনি নিচের দিকের বেথ-হোরোণ,
18 And Baalath and Tamor in the wildernes of the land,
বালৎ, ও তাঁর দেশের অন্তর্গত মরুভূমিতে অবস্থিত তামর,
19 And all the cities of store, that Salomon had, euen cities for charets, and cities for horsemen, and all that Salomon desired and woulde build in Ierusalem, and in Lebanon and in all the land of his dominion)
তথা তাঁর সব গুদাম-নগর এবং তাঁর রথ ও ঘোড়া রাখার জন্য কয়েকটি নগর—জেরুশালেমে, লেবাননে ও তাঁর শাসিত গোটা এলাকা জুড়ে সর্বত্র যা যা তিনি তৈরি করতে চেয়েছিলেন, সেসব তিনি তৈরি করলেন।
20 Al the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hiuites, and Iebusites, which were not of the children of Israel:
ইমোরীয়, হিত্তীয়, পরিষীয়, হিব্বীয় ও যিবূষীয়দের মধ্যেও কিছু লোক সেখানে অবশিষ্ট রয়ে গেল। (এইসব লোক ইস্রায়েলী নয়)
21 To wit, their children that were left after them in the lande, whome the children of Israel were not able to destroy, those did Salomon make tributaries vnto this day.
শলোমন দেশে থেকে যাওয়া এইসব লোকের বংশধরদের—যাদের ইস্রায়েলীরা উচ্ছেদ করতে পারেনি—বাধ্যতামূলকভাবে বেগার শ্রমিক রূপে কাজে লাগালেন, আজও পর্যন্ত যা তারা করে চলেছে।
22 But of the children of Israel did Salomon make no bondmen: but they were men of warre and his seruants, and his princes, and his captaines, and rulers of his charets and his horsemen.
কিন্তু শলোমন ইস্রায়েলীদের কাউকে ক্রীতদাস করেননি; তারা তাঁর যোদ্ধা, কর্মকর্তা, সেনাপতি, এবং তাঁর রথের সারথি ও অশ্বারোহীদের সেনাপতি হল।
23 These were the princes of the officers, that were ouer Salomons worke: euen fiue hundreth and fiftie, and they ruled the people that wrought in the worke.
এছাড়াও তারা শলোমনের বিভিন্ন প্রকল্পের দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত প্রধান কর্মকর্তা হল 550 জন কর্মকর্তা এই কাজে লিপ্ত লোকজনের কাজ দেখাশোনা করত।
24 And Pharaohs daughter came vp from the citie of Dauid vnto the house which Salomon had built for her: then did he buylde Millo.
শলোমন ফরৌণের মেয়ের জন্য যে প্রাসাদটি নির্মাণ করলেন, তিনি দাউদ-নগর থেকে সেখানে চলে আসার পর শলোমন সেখানে কয়েকটি উঁচু চাতালও নির্মাণ করে দিলেন।
25 And thrise a yere did Salomon offer burnt offringes and peace offrings vpon the altar which he built vnto the Lord: and hee burnt incense vpon the altar that was before the Lord, when hee had finished the house.
শলোমন সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশে যে যজ্ঞবেদিটি তৈরি করলেন, সেখানে তিনি বছরে তিনবার হোমবলি ও মঙ্গলার্থক বলি উৎসর্গ করতেন, এবং সেগুলির সাথে সাথে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে ধূপও জ্বালাতেন, আর এভাবেই তিনি মন্দির নির্মাণের কাজ সম্পূর্ণ করলেন।
26 Also King Salomon made a nauie of ships in Ezeon-geber, which is beside Eloth, and the brinke of the red Sea, in the land of Edom.
এছাড়াও রাজা শলোমন লোহিত সাগরের তীরে, ইদোমের এলতের কাছে অবস্থিত ইৎসিয়োন-গেবরে কয়েকটি জাহাজ তৈরি করলেন।
27 And Hiram sent with the nauie his seruats, that were mariners, and had knowledge of the sea, with the seruants of Salomon.
হীরম শলোমনের লোকজনের সঙ্গে থেকে নৌবাহিনীতে সেবাকাজ করার জন্য তাঁর সেইসব নাবিককে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন, যারা সমুদ্রের ব্যাপারে অভিজ্ঞ ছিল।
28 And they came to Ophir and sette from thence foure hundreth and twentie talents of gold, and brought it to King Salomon.
তারা জাহাজে চড়ে ওফীরে গেল ও সেখান থেকে 420 তালন্ত সোনা এনে রাজা শলোমনের কাছে পৌঁছে দিয়েছিল।
