1 Kings 8
1 Then King Salomon assembled the Elders of Israel, euen all the heads of the tribes, the chiefe fathers of the children of Israel vnto him in Ierusalem, for to bring vp the Arke of the couenant of the Lord from the citie of Dauid, which is Zion.
Entonces Salomón reunió alrededor suyo, en Jerusalén, a los ancianos de Israel, a todos los jefes de las tribus y a los príncipes de las familias de los hijos de Israel, para trasladar el Arca de la Alianza de Yahvé, desde la ciudad de David, que es Sión.
2 And all the men of Israel assembled vnto King Salomon at the feast in the moneth of Ethanim, which is the seuenth moneth.
Concurrieron, pues, al rey Salomón todos los varones de Israel en la fiesta del mes de Etanim, que es el mes séptimo.
3 And all the Elders of Israel came and the Priests tooke the Arke.
Cuando habían venido todos los ancianos de Israel, alzaron los sacerdotes el Arca,
4 They bare the Arke of the Lord, and they bare the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tabernacle: those did the Priestes and Leuites bring vp.
y trasladaron el Arca de Yahvé, con el Tabernáculo de la Reunión, y todos los utensilios sagrados que había dentro del Tabernáculo; y los llevaban los sacerdotes levitas.
5 And King Salomon and all the Congregation of Israel, that were assembled vnto him, were with him before the Arke, offering sheepe and beeues, which could not be tolde, nor nombred for multitude.
El rey Salomón y toda la congregación de Israel, reunida en torno suyo, estaban con él delante del Arca, inmolando ovejas y bueyes incontables e innumerables por su muchedumbre.
6 So the Priestes brought the Arke of the couenant of the Lord vnto his place, into the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, euen vnder the wings of the Cherubims.
Los sacerdotes pusieron el Arca de la Alianza de Yahvé en su sitio, en el lugar más interior de la Casa, en el Santísimo, debajo de las alas de los querubines.
7 For ye Cherubims stretched out their wings ouer the place of the Arke, and the Cherubims couered the Arke, and the barres thereof aboue.
Porque los querubines extendían las alas sobre el lugar del Arca y cubrían por arriba el Arca y sus varas.
8 And they drewe out the barres, that the endes of the barres might appeare out of the Sanctuarie before the oracle, but they were not seene without: and there they are vnto this day.
Tan largas eran las varas, que sus extremos se dejaban ver desde el Lugar Santo, que está delante del Santísimo; pero no se dejaban ver desde fuera. Allí están hasta el día de hoy.
9 Nothing was in the Arke saue the two tables of stone which Moses had put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a couenant with the children of Israel, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.
Dentro del Arca no había sino las dos tablas de piedra que Moisés había depositado en ella en el Horeb al hacer Yahvé alianza con Israel, en la salida de ellos de la tierra de Egipto.
10 And when the Priestes were come out of the Sanctuarie, the cloude filled the house of the Lord,
Y sucedió que al salir los sacerdotes del Santuario, la nube llenó la Casa de Yahvé;
11 So that the Priestes could not stande to minister, because of the cloude: for the glorie of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.
y los sacerdotes no pudieron permanecer (allí) para ejercer su ministerio, a causa de la nube; pues la gloria de Yahvé llenaba la Casa de Yahvé.
12 Then spake Salomon, The Lord said, that he woulde dwell in the darke cloude.
Entonces dijo Salomón: “Yahvé ha dicho que moraría en la oscuridad.
13 I haue built thee an house to dwell in, an habitation for thee to abide in for euer.
Pues bien, yo he edificado una casa que sea morada para Ti, el lugar de tu morada para siempre.”
14 And the King turned his face, and blessed all the Congregation of Israel: for all the Congregation of Israel stoode there.
Y volviéndose el rey bendijo a toda la asamblea de Israel, mientras toda la asamblea de Israel se tenía en pie.
15 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who spake with his mouth vnto Dauid my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,
Dijo: “¡Bendito sea Yahvé!, el Dios de Israel, que habló con su boca a mi padre David y con su mano lo cumplió, diciendo:
16 Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no citie of all the tribes of Israel, to builde an house that my name might be there: but I haue chosen Dauid to be ouer my people Israel.
«Desde el día que saqué de Egipto a Israel, mi pueblo, no he escogido ciudad de entre las tribus de Israel para edificar una casa donde resida mi Nombre, aunque escogí a David para que reinase sobre Israel, mi pueblo.»
17 And it was in ye heart of Dauid my father to builde an house to the Name of the Lord God of Israel.
David, mi padre, tuvo el propósito de edificar una casa al Nombre de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel;
18 And the Lord said vnto Dauid my father, Where as it was in thine heart to build an house vnto my Name, thou diddest well, that thou wast so minded:
mas Yahvé dijo a mi padre David: «Teniendo tú el propósito de edificar una casa a mi Nombre, has ideado un buen proyecto.
19 Neuerthelesse thou shalt not builde the house, but thy sonne that shall come out of thy loynes, he shall builde the house vnto my Name.
Con todo, no edificarás tú la Casa, sino que un hijo tuyo, que saldrá de tus entrañas, edificará la Casa a mi Nombre.»
20 And the Lord hath made good his worde that he spake: and I am risen vp in the roume of Dauid my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and haue built the house for the Name of the Lord God of Israel.
Yahvé ha cumplido la palabra que prometió; pues me he levantado yo en el lugar de David, mi padre —y heme sentado sobre el trono de Israel, como Yahvé lo ha anunciado—, y he edificado la Casa al Nombre de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel.
21 And I haue prepared therein a place for the Arke, wherein is the couenant of the Lord which he made with our fathers, whe he brought them out of the lande of Egypt.
He establecido allí un lugar para el Arca, donde se halla la Alianza que Yahvé hizo con nuestros padres al sacarlos del país de Egipto.”
22 Then Salomon stoode before the altar of the Lord in the sight of all the Congregation of Israel, and stretched out his handes towarde heauen,
Luego, poniéndose Salomón delante del altar de Yahvé, frente a toda la asamblea de Israel, extendió las manos hacia el cielo,
23 And sayd, O Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee in heauen aboue, or in the earth beneath, thou that keepest couenant and mercie with thy seruants that walke before thee with all their heart,
y dijo: “Yahvé, Dios de Israel, no hay Dios como Tú, ni arriba en el cielo, ni abajo en la tierra, porque Tú guardas la Alianza y la misericordia con tus siervos que andan en tu presencia de todo corazón.
24 Thou that hast kept with thy seruant Dauid my father, that thou hast promised him: for thou spakest with thy mouth and hast fulfilled it with thine hande, as appeareth this day.
Tú has cumplido con tu siervo David, mi padre, lo que prometiste; y lo que con tu boca prometiste, con tu mano lo has puesto por obra, como se ve en este día.
25 Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keepe with thy seruant Dauid my father that thou hast promised him, saying, Thou shalt not want a man in my sight to sit vpon ye throne of Israel: so that thy childre take heed to their way, that they walke before me; as thou hast walked in my sight
Ahora, pues, oh Yahvé, Dios de Israel, guarda la promesa que has dado a tu siervo David, mi padre, diciendo: «Nunca te faltará varón delante de Mí que se siente sobre el trono de Israel, con tal que tus hijos vigilen sobre sus caminos y anden delante de Mí, como tú has andado en mi presencia.»
26 And nowe, O God of Israel, I pray thee, let thy worde be verified, which thou spakest vnto thy seruant Dauid my father.
Cúmplase ahora, oh Dios de Israel, la promesa que diste a tu siervo David, mi padre.
27 Is it true in deede that God will dwell on the earth? beholde, the heauens, and the heauens of heauens are not able to conteine thee: howe much more vnable is this house that I haue built?
Pero ¿es verdad que Dios habita sobre la tierra? He aquí que los cielos y los cielos de los cielos no pueden contenerte, ¿cuánto menos esta Casa que yo acabo de edificar?
28 But haue thou respect vnto the prayer of thy seruant, and to his supplication, O Lord, my God, to heare the cry and prayer which thy seruant prayeth before thee this day:
Con todo vuelve tu rostro a la oración de tu siervo y a su súplica, oh Yahvé, Dios mío, para escuchar el clamor y la oración que tu siervo hace hoy delante de Ti.
29 That thine eyes may be open toward this house, night and day, euen towarde the place whereof thou hast said, My Name shalbe there: that thou mayest hearken vnto the prayer which thy seruant prayeth in this place.
Que estén abiertos tus ojos, noche y día, hacia esta Casa y este lugar, acerca del cual has dicho: «Estará allí mi Nombre, para escuchar la oración que tu siervo haga en este lugar».
30 Heare thou therefore the supplication of thy seruant, and of thy people Israel, which pray in this place, and heare thou in the place of thine habitation, euen in heauen, and when thou hearest, haue mercie.
Oye, pues, la súplica de tu siervo y de Israel, tu pueblo, cuando oraren en este lugar. Oye Tú desde el lugar de tu morada, el cielo; escucha y perdona.”
31 When a man shall trespasse against his neighbour, and he lay vpon him an othe to cause him to sweare, and the swearer shall come before thine altar in this house,
“Cuando pecare alguno contra su prójimo, y se le impusiere juramento, haciéndole jurar, y él viniere a jurar ante tu altar en esta Casa,
32 Then heare thou in heauen, and doe and iudge thy seruants, that thou condemne the wicked to bring his way vpon his head, and iustifie the righteous, to giue him according to his righteousnesse.
óyelo Tú desde el cielo, y obra; juzga a tus siervos, condenando al inicuo y haciendo recaer su conducta sobre su misma cabeza, justificando, en cambio, al justo y premiándolo conforme a su justicia.”
33 When thy people Israel shall be ouerthrowen before the enemie, because they haue sinned against thee, and turne againe to thee, and confesse thy Name, and pray and make supplication vnto thee in this house,
“Cuando Israel, tu pueblo, fuere vencido por un enemigo, por haber pecado contra Ti, y ellos vueltos a Ti confesaren tu Nombre y oraren, suplicándote en esta Casa,
34 Then heare thou in heauen, and be mercifull vnto the sinne of thy people Israel, and bring them againe vnto the lande, which thou gauest vnto their fathers.
óyelo Tú en el cielo, y perdona el pecado de Israel, tu pueblo, y hazlos volver al país que diste a sus padres.”
35 When heauen shalbe shut vp, and there shalbe no raine because they haue sinned against thee, and shall pray in this place, and confesse thy Name, and turne from their sinne, when thou doest afflict them,
“Cuando se cierre el cielo, de manera que no haya lluvia, por haber ellos pecado contra ti, y si oraren (dirigiendo sus miradas) hacia este lugar, y alabando tu Nombre, y si se convirtieren de su pecado por haberlos Tú afligido,
36 Then heare thou in heauen, and pardon the sinne of thy seruants and of thy people Israel (when thou hast taught the the good way wherein they may walke) and giue raine vpon the land that thou hast giuen to thy people to inherite.
óyelos en el cielo, y perdona el pecado de tus siervos y de Israel, tu pueblo, enseñándoles el recto camino, por el cual deben andar; y envía lluvia sobre tu tierra que diste por herencia a tu pueblo.”
37 When there shalbe famine in the land, when there shalbe pestilence, when there shall be blasting, mildewe, grashopper or caterpiller, when their enemie shall besiege them in the cities of their lande, or any plague, or any sickenesse,
“Cuando haya hambre en la tierra, o peste, o roya, añublo, langosta, u otra clase de insectos, o cuando el enemigo asedie (a tu pueblo) en su país, en sus ciudades, o cuando haya plagas o enfermedades de cualquier clase,
38 Then what prayer, and supplication so euer shalbe made of any man or of all thy people Israel, when euery one shall knowe the plague in his owne heart, and stretch foorth his handes in this house,
si entonces uno en particular, o todo Israel, tu pueblo, se dirija a Ti con oraciones y súplicas, y si cada cual, reconociendo la plaga de su corazón, extienda sus manos hacia esta Casa,
39 Heare thou then in heauen, in thy dwelling place, and be mercifull, and doe, and giue euery man according to all his wayes, as thou knowest his heart, (for thou only knowest the heartes of all the children of men)
óyelo Tú en el cielo, lugar de tu morada, y perdona; obra y retribuye a cada uno conforme a todos sus caminos, ya que conoces su corazón —pues Tú solo conoces el corazón de todos los hijos de los hombres—
40 That they may feare thee as long as they liue in ye lad, which thou gauest vnto our fathers.
para que te teman todos los días que vivan en la tierra que diste a nuestros padres.
41 Moreouer as touching the stranger that is not of thy people Israel, who shall come out of a farre countrey for thy Names sake,
“También el extranjero, que no es de tu pueblo Israel, cuando viniere de tierras lejanas a causa de tu Nombre
42 (When they shall heare of thy great name, and of thy mightie hande, and of thy stretched out arme) and shall come and pray in this house,
—pues ellos oirán hablar de tu gran Nombre y de tu poderosa mano y de tu brazo extendido¾, cuando venga, pues, a orar en esta Casa,
43 Heare thou in heauen thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth for vnto thee: that all the people of the earth may know thy Name, and feare thee, as do thy people Israel: and that they may know, that thy Name is called vpon in this house which I haue built.
óyelo Tú en el cielo, lugar de tu morada, y otorga todo lo que te pidiere aquel extranjero, a fin de que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan tu Nombre, para temerte como (te teme) Israel, tu pueblo, y sepan que tu Nombre ha sido invocado sobre esta Casa que yo he edificado.”
44 When thy people shall go out to battell against their enemie by the way that thou shalt sende them, and shall pray vnto the Lord towarde the way of the citie which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I haue built for thy Name,
“Cuando tu pueblo salga a combatir a sus enemigos por el camino por el cual Tú los enviares, y oraren a Yahvé, mirando hacia la ciudad que Tú elegiste y la Casa que yo he edificado a tu Nombre,
45 Heare thou then in heauen their prayer and their supplication, and iudge their cause.
escucha Tú en el cielo su oración y su plegaria, y hazles justicia.”
46 If they sinne against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not) and thou be angry with them, and deliuer them vnto the enemies, so that they cary them away prisoners vnto the land of the enemies, either farre or neere,
“Cuando pecaren contra Ti —pues no hay hombre que no peque— y Tú, irritado contra ellos, los entregares en poder del enemigo, y el vencedor los llevare cautivos a la tierra enemiga, sea lejana o cercana;
47 Yet if they turne againe vnto their heart in the lande (to the which they be caryed away captiues) and returne and pray vnto thee in the lande of them that caryed them away captiues, saying, We haue sinned, we haue transgressed, and done wickedly,
si ellos entonces se arrepintieren en la tierra de su cautividad y convertidos pidieren perdón en el país de sus apresadores, diciendo: «Hemos pecado, hemos cometido iniquidad, hemos obrado perversamente»;
48 If they turne againe vnto thee with all their heart, and with all their soule in the lande of their enemies, which led them away captiues, and pray vnto thee toward the way of their land, which thou gauest vnto their fathers, and toward the citie which thou hast chosen, and the house, which I haue built for thy Name,
y si se volvieren a ti de todo corazón y con toda su alma, en la tierra de sus enemigos que los cautivaron, y suplicaren a Ti, mirando hacia su tierra que Tú diste a sus padres, hacia la ciudad que has escogido, y hacia la Casa que yo he edificado a tu Nombre,
49 Then heare thou their prayer and their supplication in heauen thy dwelling place, and iudge their cause,
entonces oye Tú en el cielo, lugar de tu morada, su oración y su súplica y hazles justicia;
50 And be mercifull vnto thy people that haue sinned against thee, and vnto all their iniquities (wherein they haue transgressed against thee) and cause that they, which led them away captiues, may haue pitie and compassion on them:
y perdona a tu pueblo los pecados cometidos contra Ti, y todas sus transgresiones con que contra Ti se rebelaron, y haz que hallen misericordia delante de los que los llevaron cautivos, para que los traten con compasión.
51 For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out of Egypt from the middes of the yron fornace.
Porque son tu pueblo y tu herencia, que Tú sacaste de Egipto, de en medio del horno de hierro.
52 Let thine eyes be open vnto the prayer of thy seruant, and vnto the prayer of thy people Israel, to hearken vnto them, in all that they call for vnto thee.
Estén abiertos tus ojos a la súplica de tu siervo, y a la súplica de Israel, tu pueblo, para escucharlos en todo cuanto te invoquen.
53 For thou diddest separate them to thee from among all people of the earth for an inheritance, as thou saidest by the hand of Moses thy seruant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord God.
Pues Tú los separaste para Ti mismo, como herencia, de entre todos los pueblos de la tierra; como lo prometiste por boca de Moisés, tu siervo, cuando sacaste a nuestros padres de Egipto, oh Señor, Yahvé.”
54 And when Salomon had made an ende of praying all this prayer and supplication vnto the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees, and stretching of his handes to heauen,
Después de dirigir a Yahvé toda esta oración y súplica, se levantó Salomón de delante del altar de Yahvé, donde estaba arrodillado con las manos extendidas hacia el cielo;
55 And stoode and blessed all the Congregation of Israel with a loud voyce, saying,
y puesto en pie, bendijo a toda la asamblea de Israel, diciendo en alta voz:
56 Blessed be the Lord that hath giuen rest vnto his people Israel, according to all that hee promised: there hath not fayled one word of all his good promise which he promised by the hand of Moses his seruant.
“¡Bendito sea Yahvé, que ha dado descanso a Israel, su pueblo, conforme a todo lo que había prometido! No ha fallado una sola palabra de todas aquellas buenas promesas que anunció por boca de su siervo Moisés.
57 The Lord our God be with vs, as he was with our fathers, that he forsake vs not, neither leaue vs,
Yahvé, nuestro Dios, sea con nosotros así como estuvo con nuestros padres. ¡Que Él no nos abandone ni nos deseche,
58 That he may bow our heartes vnto him, that we may walke in all his waies, and keepe his commandements, and his statutes, and his lawes, which he commanded our fathers.
sino que incline nuestro corazón hacia sí, a fin de que andemos por todos sus caminos y guardemos sus mandamientos, sus leyes y preceptos que prescribió a nuestros padres!
59 And these my wordes, which I haue prayed before the Lord, be neere vnto the Lord our God day and night, that he defende the cause of his seruant, and the cause of his people Israel alway as the matter requireth,
¡Que estas palabras de mi súplica que he pronunciado ante Yahvé estén presentes día y noche ante Yahvé, nuestro Dios, para que haga justicia a su siervo y a Israel, su pueblo, en todo tiempo;
60 That all the people of ye earth may knowe, that the Lord is God, and none other.
y sepan todos los pueblos de la tierra que Yahvé es Dios y no hay otro!
61 Let your heart therefore be perfit with the Lord our God to walke in his statutes, and to keepe his commandements, as this day.
Sea, pues, vuestro corazón recto para con Yahvé, vuestro Dios, de suerte que cumplamos sus leyes y guardemos sus mandamientos, como al presente.”
62 Then the King and all Israel with him offred sacrifice before the Lord.
Después el rey, y con él todo Israel, ofrecieron sacrificios ante Yahvé.
63 And Salomon offered a sacrifice of peace offrings which he offered vnto the Lord, to wit, two and twentie thousande beeues, and an hundreth and twentie thousande sheepe: so the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the Lord.
Inmoló Salomón como sacrificios pacíficos, ofreciéndolos a Yahvé, veintidós mil bueyes y ciento veinte mil ovejas. De esta manera el rey y todos los hijos de Israel inauguraron la Casa de Yahvé.
64 The same day did the King halowe the middle of the court, that was before the house of the Lord: for there he made burnt offerings, and the meate offrings, and the fat of the peace offeringes, because the brasen altar that was before the Lord, was too litle to receiue the burnt offerings, and the meate offerings, and the fat of the peace offrings.
En aquel día el rey consagró el interior del atrio, que está delante de la Casa de Yahvé; pues ofreció allí los holocaustos, las oblaciones y los sebos de los sacrificios pacíficos, por cuanto el altar de bronce que había ante Yahvé, no era tan grande que pudiesen caber en él los holocaustos, las oblaciones y las grasas de los sacrificios pacíficos.
65 And Salomon made at that time a feast and all Israel with him, a very great Congregation, euen from the entring in of Hamath vnto the riuer of Egypt, before the Lord our God, seuen dayes and seuen dayes, euen fourteene dayes.
Así en ese tiempo, Salomón, y con él todo Israel, una muchedumbre inmensa venida desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el Arroyo de Egipto, celebró fiesta delante de Yahvé, nuestro Dios, durante siete días, y otros siete días, esto es, catorce días.
66 And the eight day he sent the people away: and they thanked the King and went vnto their tentes ioyous and with glad heart, because of al the goodnesse that the Lord had done for Dauid his seruant, and for Israel his people.
El día octavo despidió el rey al pueblo; y ellos bendijeron al rey y se fueron a sus tiendas gozosos y contentos por todos los beneficios que Yahvé había hecho a David, su siervo, y a Israel, su pueblo.
