1 Kings 8

1 Then King Salomon assembled the Elders of Israel, euen all the heads of the tribes, the chiefe fathers of the children of Israel vnto him in Ierusalem, for to bring vp the Arke of the couenant of the Lord from the citie of Dauid, which is Zion.

Então congregou Salomão os anciãos de Israel, e todos os Cabeças das tribus, os principes dos paes, d'entre os filhos de Israel, ao rei Salomão em Jerusalem; para fazerem subir a arca do concerto do Senhor da cidade de David, que é Sião.

2 And all the men of Israel assembled vnto King Salomon at the feast in the moneth of Ethanim, which is the seuenth moneth.

E todos os homens de Israel se congregaram na festa, ao rei Salomão, no mez de Ethanim, que é o setimo mez.

3 And all the Elders of Israel came and the Priests tooke the Arke.

E vieram todos os anciãos de Israel: e os sacerdotes alçaram a arca.

4 They bare the Arke of the Lord, and they bare the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tabernacle: those did the Priestes and Leuites bring vp.

E trouxeram a arca do Senhor para cima, e o tabernaculo da congregação, juntamente com todos os vasos sagrados que havia no tabernaculo; assim os trouxeram para cima os sacerdotes e os levitas.

5 And King Salomon and all the Congregation of Israel, that were assembled vnto him, were with him before the Arke, offering sheepe and beeues, which could not be tolde, nor nombred for multitude.

E o rei Salomão, e toda a congregação de Israel, que se congregara a elle, estava com elle diante da arca, sacrificando ovelhas e vaccas, que se não podiam contar nem numerar pela multidão.

6 So the Priestes brought the Arke of the couenant of the Lord vnto his place, into the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, euen vnder the wings of the Cherubims.

Assim trouxaram os sacerdotes a arca do concerto do Senhor ao seu logar, ao oraculo da casa, ao logar sanctissimo, até debaixo das azas dos cherubins.

7 For ye Cherubims stretched out their wings ouer the place of the Arke, and the Cherubims couered the Arke, and the barres thereof aboue.

Porque os cherubins estendiam ambas as azas sobre o logar da arca: e cobriam os cherubins a arca e os seus varaes por cima.

8 And they drewe out the barres, that the endes of the barres might appeare out of the Sanctuarie before the oracle, but they were not seene without: and there they are vnto this day.

E os varaes sobresairam tanto, que as pontas dos varaes se viam desde o sanctuario diante do oraculo, porém de fóra se não viam: e ficaram ali até ao dia d'hoje.

9 Nothing was in the Arke saue the two tables of stone which Moses had put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a couenant with the children of Israel, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

Na arca nada havia, senão só as duas taboas de pedra, que Moysés ali pozera junto a Horeb, quando o Senhor contratou com os filhos de Israel, saindo elles da terra do Egypto.

10 And when the Priestes were come out of the Sanctuarie, the cloude filled the house of the Lord,

E succedeu que, saindo os sacerdotes do sanctuario, uma nuvem encheu a casa do Senhor.

11 So that the Priestes could not stande to minister, because of the cloude: for the glorie of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.

E não podiam ter-se em pé os sacerdotes para ministrar, por causa da nuvem, porque a gloria do Senhor enchera a casa do Senhor.

12 Then spake Salomon, The Lord said, that he woulde dwell in the darke cloude.

Então disse Salomão: O Senhor disse que habitaria nas trevas.

13 I haue built thee an house to dwell in, an habitation for thee to abide in for euer.

Certamente te edifiquei uma casa para morada, assento para a tua eterna habitação.

14 And the King turned his face, and blessed all the Congregation of Israel: for all the Congregation of Israel stoode there.

Então virou o rei o seu rosto, e abençoou toda a congregação de Israel: e toda a congregação de Israel estava em pé

15 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who spake with his mouth vnto Dauid my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

E disse: Bemdito seja o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, que fallou pela sua bocca a David meu pae, e pela sua mão o cumpriu, dizendo:

16 Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no citie of all the tribes of Israel, to builde an house that my name might be there: but I haue chosen Dauid to be ouer my people Israel.

Desde o dia em que eu tirei o meu povo Israel do Egypto, não escolhi cidade alguma de todas as tribus de Israel, para edificar alguma casa para ali estabelecer o meu nome: porém escolhi a David, para que presidisse sobre o meu povo Israel.

17 And it was in ye heart of Dauid my father to builde an house to the Name of the Lord God of Israel.

Tambem David, meu pae, propozera em seu coração o edificar casa ao nome do Senhor, o Deus de Israel.

18 And the Lord said vnto Dauid my father, Where as it was in thine heart to build an house vnto my Name, thou diddest well, that thou wast so minded:

Porém o Senhor disse a David, meu pae: Porquanto propozeste no teu coração o edificar casa ao meu nome bem fizeste em o propôr no teu coração.

19 Neuerthelesse thou shalt not builde the house, but thy sonne that shall come out of thy loynes, he shall builde the house vnto my Name.

Todavia tu não edificarás esta casa: porém teu filho, que sair de teus lombos, edificará esta casa ao meu nome.

20 And the Lord hath made good his worde that he spake: and I am risen vp in the roume of Dauid my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and haue built the house for the Name of the Lord God of Israel.

Assim confirmou o Senhor a sua palavra que tinha dito: porque me levantei em logar de David, meu pae, e me assentei no throno de Israel, como tem dito o Senhor; e edifiquei uma casa ao nome do Senhor, o Deus d'Israel.

21 And I haue prepared therein a place for the Arke, wherein is the couenant of the Lord which he made with our fathers, whe he brought them out of the lande of Egypt.

E constitui ali logar para a arca em que está o concerto do Senhor, o qual fez com nossos paes, quando os tirou da terra do Egypto.

22 Then Salomon stoode before the altar of the Lord in the sight of all the Congregation of Israel, and stretched out his handes towarde heauen,

E poz-se Salomão diante do altar do Senhor, em frente de toda a congregação d'Israel: e estendeu as suas mãos para os céus,

23 And sayd, O Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee in heauen aboue, or in the earth beneath, thou that keepest couenant and mercie with thy seruants that walke before thee with all their heart,

E disse: Ó Senhor Deus de Israel, não ha Deus como tu, em cima nos céus nem em baixo na terra: que guardas o concerto e a beneficencia a teus servos que andam com todo o seu coração diante de ti.

24 Thou that hast kept with thy seruant Dauid my father, that thou hast promised him: for thou spakest with thy mouth and hast fulfilled it with thine hande, as appeareth this day.

Que guardaste a teu servo David, meu pae, o que lhe disseras: porque com a tua bocca o disseste, e com a tua mão o cumpriste, como n'este dia se vê.

25 Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keepe with thy seruant Dauid my father that thou hast promised him, saying, Thou shalt not want a man in my sight to sit vpon ye throne of Israel: so that thy childre take heed to their way, that they walke before me; as thou hast walked in my sight

Agora pois, ó Senhor Deus d'Israel, guarda a teu servo David, meu pae, o que lhe fallaste, dizendo: Não te faltará successor diante de mim, que se assente no throno d'Israel: sómente que teus filhos guardem o seu caminho, para andarem diante de mim como tu andaste diante de mim

26 And nowe, O God of Israel, I pray thee, let thy worde be verified, which thou spakest vnto thy seruant Dauid my father.

Agora tambem, ó Deus d'Israel, cumpra-se a tua palavra que disseste a teu servo David, meu pae.

27 Is it true in deede that God will dwell on the earth? beholde, the heauens, and the heauens of heauens are not able to conteine thee: howe much more vnable is this house that I haue built?

Mas, na verdade, habitaria Deus na terra? eis que os céus, e até o céu dos céus, te não comprehenderiam, quanto menos esta casa que eu tenho edificado.

28 But haue thou respect vnto the prayer of thy seruant, and to his supplication, O Lord, my God, to heare the cry and prayer which thy seruant prayeth before thee this day:

Volve-te pois para a oração de teu servo, e para a sua supplica, ó Senhor meu Deus, para ouvires o clamor e a oração que o teu servo hoje faz diante de ti.

29 That thine eyes may be open toward this house, night and day, euen towarde the place whereof thou hast said, My Name shalbe there: that thou mayest hearken vnto the prayer which thy seruant prayeth in this place.

Para que os teus olhos noite e dia estejam abertos sobre esta casa, sobre este logar, do qual disseste: O meu nome estará ali; para ouvires a oração que o teu servo fizer n'este logar.

30 Heare thou therefore the supplication of thy seruant, and of thy people Israel, which pray in this place, and heare thou in the place of thine habitation, euen in heauen, and when thou hearest, haue mercie.

Ouve pois a supplica do teu servo, e do teu povo Israel, que orarem n'este logar; tambem ouve tu no logar da tua habitação nos céus; ouve tambem, e perdôa.

31 When a man shall trespasse against his neighbour, and he lay vpon him an othe to cause him to sweare, and the swearer shall come before thine altar in this house,

Quando alguem peccar contra o seu proximo, e pozerem sobre elle juramento de maldição, para o ajuramentarem a si mesmo, e vier juramento de maldição diante do teu altar n'esta casa,

32 Then heare thou in heauen, and doe and iudge thy seruants, that thou condemne the wicked to bring his way vpon his head, and iustifie the righteous, to giue him according to his righteousnesse.

Ouve tu então nos céus, e obra, e julga a teus servos, condemnando ao injusto, fazendo recair o seu proceder sobre a sua cabeça, e justificando ao justo, rendendo-lhe segundo a sua justiça.

33 When thy people Israel shall be ouerthrowen before the enemie, because they haue sinned against thee, and turne againe to thee, and confesse thy Name, and pray and make supplication vnto thee in this house,

Quando o teu povo Israel fôr ferido diante do inimigo, por ter peccado contra ti, e se converterem a ti, e confessarem o teu nome, e orarem e supplicarem a ti n'esta casa,

34 Then heare thou in heauen, and be mercifull vnto the sinne of thy people Israel, and bring them againe vnto the lande, which thou gauest vnto their fathers.

Ouve tu então nos céus, e perdôa o peccado do teu povo Israel, e torna-o a levar á terra que tens dado a seus paes.

35 When heauen shalbe shut vp, and there shalbe no raine because they haue sinned against thee, and shall pray in this place, and confesse thy Name, and turne from their sinne, when thou doest afflict them,

Quando os céus se cerrarem, e não houver chuva, por terem peccado contra ti, e orarem n'este logar, e confessarem o teu nome, e se converterem dos seus peccados, havendo-os tu affligido.

36 Then heare thou in heauen, and pardon the sinne of thy seruants and of thy people Israel (when thou hast taught the the good way wherein they may walke) and giue raine vpon the land that thou hast giuen to thy people to inherite.

Ouve tu então nos céus, e perdôa o peccado de teus servos e do teu povo Israel, ensinando-lhe o bom caminho em que andem, e dá chuva na tua terra que déste ao teu povo em herança.

37 When there shalbe famine in the land, when there shalbe pestilence, when there shall be blasting, mildewe, grashopper or caterpiller, when their enemie shall besiege them in the cities of their lande, or any plague, or any sickenesse,

Quando houver fome na terra, quando houver peste, quando houver queima de searas, ferrugem, gafanhotos e pulgão, quando o seu inimigo o cercar na terra das suas portas, ou houver alguma praga ou doença.

38 Then what prayer, and supplication so euer shalbe made of any man or of all thy people Israel, when euery one shall knowe the plague in his owne heart, and stretch foorth his handes in this house,

Toda a oração, toda a supplica, que qualquer homem de todo o teu povo Israel fizer, conhecendo cada um a chaga do seu coração, e estendendo as suas mãos para esta casa

39 Heare thou then in heauen, in thy dwelling place, and be mercifull, and doe, and giue euery man according to all his wayes, as thou knowest his heart, (for thou only knowest the heartes of all the children of men)

Ouve tu então nos céus, assento da tua habitação, e perdôa, e obra, e dá a cada um conforme a todos os seus caminhos, e segundo vires o seu coração, porque só tu conheces o coração de todos os filhos dos homens

40 That they may feare thee as long as they liue in ye lad, which thou gauest vnto our fathers.

Para que te temam todos os dias que viverem na terra que déste a nossos paes.

41 Moreouer as touching the stranger that is not of thy people Israel, who shall come out of a farre countrey for thy Names sake,

E tambem ouve ao estrangeiro, que não fôr do teu povo Israel, porém vier de terras remotas, por amor do teu nome

42 (When they shall heare of thy great name, and of thy mightie hande, and of thy stretched out arme) and shall come and pray in this house,

(Porque ouvirão do teu grande nome, e da tua forte mão, e do teu braço estendido), e vier orar para esta casa,

43 Heare thou in heauen thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth for vnto thee: that all the people of the earth may know thy Name, and feare thee, as do thy people Israel: and that they may know, that thy Name is called vpon in this house which I haue built.

Ouve tu nos céus, assento da tua habitação, e faze conforme a tudo o que o estrangeiro a ti clamar, a fim de que todos os povos da terra conheçam o teu nome, para te temerem como o teu povo Israel, e para saberem que o teu nome é invocado sobre esta casa que tenho edificado.

44 When thy people shall go out to battell against their enemie by the way that thou shalt sende them, and shall pray vnto the Lord towarde the way of the citie which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I haue built for thy Name,

Quando o teu povo sair á guerra contra o seu inimigo, pelo caminho por que os enviares, e orarem ao Senhor, para a banda d'esta cidade, que tu elegeste, e d'esta casa, que edifiquei ao teu nome,

45 Heare thou then in heauen their prayer and their supplication, and iudge their cause.

Ouve então nos céus a sua oração e a sua supplica, e faze-lhes justiça.

46 If they sinne against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not) and thou be angry with them, and deliuer them vnto the enemies, so that they cary them away prisoners vnto the land of the enemies, either farre or neere,

Quando peccarem contra ti (pois não ha homem que não peque), e tu te indignares contra elles, e os entregares ás mãos do inimigo, para que os que os captivarem os levem em captiveiro á terra do inimigo, quer longe ou perto esteja,

47 Yet if they turne againe vnto their heart in the lande (to the which they be caryed away captiues) and returne and pray vnto thee in the lande of them that caryed them away captiues, saying, We haue sinned, we haue transgressed, and done wickedly,

E na terra aonde forem levados em captiveiro tornarem em si, e se converterem, e na terra do seu captiveiro te supplicarem, dizendo: Peccámos, e perversamente obrámos, e commettemos iniquidade;

48 If they turne againe vnto thee with all their heart, and with all their soule in the lande of their enemies, which led them away captiues, and pray vnto thee toward the way of their land, which thou gauest vnto their fathers, and toward the citie which thou hast chosen, and the house, which I haue built for thy Name,

E se converterem a ti com todo o seu coração e com toda a sua alma, na terra de seus inimigos que os levaram em captiveiro, e orarem a ti para a banda da sua terra que déste a seus paes, para esta cidade que elegeste, e para esta casa que edifiquei ao teu nome;

49 Then heare thou their prayer and their supplication in heauen thy dwelling place, and iudge their cause,

Ouve então nos céus, assento da tua habitação, a sua oração e a sua supplica, e faze-lhes justiça;

50 And be mercifull vnto thy people that haue sinned against thee, and vnto all their iniquities (wherein they haue transgressed against thee) and cause that they, which led them away captiues, may haue pitie and compassion on them:

E perdôa ao teu povo que houver peccado contra ti, e todas as suas prevaricações com que houverem prevaricado contra ti; e dá-lhes misericordia perante aquelles que os teem captivos, para que d'elles tenham compaixão.

51 For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out of Egypt from the middes of the yron fornace.

Porque são o teu povo e a tua herança que tiraste da terra do Egypto, do meio do forno de ferro.

52 Let thine eyes be open vnto the prayer of thy seruant, and vnto the prayer of thy people Israel, to hearken vnto them, in all that they call for vnto thee.

Para que teus olhos estejam abertos á supplica do teu servo e á supplica do teu povo Israel, a fim de os ouvirdes em tudo quanto clamarem a ti.

53 For thou diddest separate them to thee from among all people of the earth for an inheritance, as thou saidest by the hand of Moses thy seruant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord God.

Pois tu para tua herança os elegeste de todos os povos da terra, como tens dito pelo ministerio de Moysés, teu servo, quando tiraste a nossos paes do Egypto, Senhor Jehovah.

54 And when Salomon had made an ende of praying all this prayer and supplication vnto the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees, and stretching of his handes to heauen,

Succedeu pois que, acabando Salomão de fazer ao Senhor esta oração e esta supplica, estando de joelhos e com as mãos estendidas para os céus, se levantou de diante do altar do Senhor.

55 And stoode and blessed all the Congregation of Israel with a loud voyce, saying,

E poz-se em pé, e abençoou a toda a congregação d'Israel em alta voz, dizendo:

56 Blessed be the Lord that hath giuen rest vnto his people Israel, according to all that hee promised: there hath not fayled one word of all his good promise which he promised by the hand of Moses his seruant.

Bemdito seja o Senhor, que deu repouso ao seu povo Israel, segundo tudo o que disse: nem uma só palavra caiu de todas as suas boas palavras que fallou pelo ministerio de Moysés, seu servo.

57 The Lord our God be with vs, as he was with our fathers, that he forsake vs not, neither leaue vs,

O Senhor nosso Deus seja comnosco, como foi com nossos paes; não nos desampare, e não nos deixe.

58 That he may bow our heartes vnto him, that we may walke in all his waies, and keepe his commandements, and his statutes, and his lawes, which he commanded our fathers.

Inclinando a si o nosso coração, para andar em todos os seus caminhos, e para guardar os seus mandamentos, e os seus estatutos, e os seus juizos que ordenou a nossos paes.

59 And these my wordes, which I haue prayed before the Lord, be neere vnto the Lord our God day and night, that he defende the cause of his seruant, and the cause of his people Israel alway as the matter requireth,

E que estas minhas palavras, com que suppliquei perante o Senhor, estejam perto, diante do Senhor nosso Deus, de dia e de noite, para que execute o juizo do seu servo e o juizo do seu povo Israel, a cada qual no seu dia,

60 That all the people of ye earth may knowe, that the Lord is God, and none other.

Para que todos os povos da terra saibam que o Senhor é Deus, e que não ha outro.

61 Let your heart therefore be perfit with the Lord our God to walke in his statutes, and to keepe his commandements, as this day.

E seja o vosso coração inteiro para com o Senhor nosso Deus, para andardes nos seus estatutos, e guardardes os seus mandamentos como hoje.

62 Then the King and all Israel with him offred sacrifice before the Lord.

E o rei e todo o Israel com elle sacrificaram sacrificios perante a face do Senhor.

63 And Salomon offered a sacrifice of peace offrings which he offered vnto the Lord, to wit, two and twentie thousande beeues, and an hundreth and twentie thousande sheepe: so the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the Lord.

E offereceu Salomão em sacrificio pacifico o que sacrificou ao Senhor, vinte e duas mil vaccas e cento e vinte mil ovelhas: assim o rei e todos os filhos de Israel consagraram a casa do Senhor.

64 The same day did the King halowe the middle of the court, that was before the house of the Lord: for there he made burnt offerings, and the meate offrings, and the fat of the peace offeringes, because the brasen altar that was before the Lord, was too litle to receiue the burnt offerings, and the meate offerings, and the fat of the peace offrings.

No mesmo dia sanctificou o rei o meio do atrio que estava diante da casa do Senhor; porquanto ali preparara os holocaustos e as offertas com a gordura dos sacrificios pacificos: porque o altar de cobre que estava diante da face do Senhor era muito pequeno para n'elle caberem os holocaustos, e as offertas, e a gordura dos sacrificios pacificos.

65 And Salomon made at that time a feast and all Israel with him, a very great Congregation, euen from the entring in of Hamath vnto the riuer of Egypt, before the Lord our God, seuen dayes and seuen dayes, euen fourteene dayes.

No mesmo tempo celebrou Salomão a festa, e todo o Israel com elle, uma grande congregação, desde a entrada de Hamath até ao rio do Egypto, perante a face do Senhor nosso Deus; por sete dias, e mais sete dias: quatorze dias.

66 And the eight day he sent the people away: and they thanked the King and went vnto their tentes ioyous and with glad heart, because of al the goodnesse that the Lord had done for Dauid his seruant, and for Israel his people.

E no oitavo dia despediu o povo, e elles abençoaram o rei: então se foram ás suas tendas, alegres e gozosos de coração, por causa de todo o bem que o Senhor fizera a David seu servo, e a Israel seu povo
