1 Kings 6
1 And in the foure hundreth and foure score yeere (after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt) and in the fourth yere of the reigne of Salomon ouer Israel, in the moneth Zif, (which is the second moneth) he built the house of the Lord.
En la quatre cent quatre-vingtième année après la sortie des enfants d'Israël du pays d'Egypte, la quatrième année du règne de Salomon sur Israël, au mois de ziv, qui est le second mois, il bâtit la maison de Yahweh.
2 And the house which King Salomon built for the Lord, was three score cubites long, and twentie broade, and thirtie cubites hie.
La maison que le roi Salomon bâtit à Yahweh avait soixante coudées de longueur, vingt de largeur et trente coudées de hauteur.
3 And the porch before the Temple of the house was twentie cubites long according to the breadth of the house, and ten cubites broade before the house.
Le portique devant le temple de la maison avait vingt coudées de longueur dans le sens de la largeur de la maison, et dix coudées de largeur sur le devant de la maison.
4 And in the house he made windowes, broad without, and narrowe within.
Le roi fit à la maison des fenêtres à grilles fixes.
5 And by the wall of the house hee made galleries round about, euen by the walles of the house round about the Temple and the oracle, and made chambers round about.
Il bâtit, contre la muraille de la maison, des étages autour des murs de la maison, autour du Lieu saint et du Lieu très saint, et il fit des chambres latérales tout autour.
6 The nethermost gallerie was fiue cubites broade, and the middlemost sixe cubites broade, and the third seuen cubites broade: for he made restes round about without the house, that the beames should not be fastened in the walles of the house.
L'étage inférieur avait cinq coudées de largeur, celui du milieu six coudées de largeur, et me troisième sept coudées de largeur; car on avait fait en retrait les murs de la maison tout autour, en dehors, afin que les poutres n'entrassent pas dans les murs de la maison.
7 And when the house was built, it was built of stone perfite, before it was brought, so that there was neither hammer, nor axe, nor any toole of yron heard in the house, while it was in building.
Lorsqu'on bâtit la maison, on la bâtit de pierres toutes préparées dans la carrière; et ainsi ni marteau, ni hache, ni aucun instrument de fer ne furent entendus dans la maison, pendant qu'on la construisait.
8 The doore of the middle chamber was in the right side of the house, and men went vp with winding stayres into the middlemost, and out of the middlemost into the third.
L'entrée de l'étage du milieu était du côté droit de la maison; on montait par des escaliers tournants à l'étage du milieu et de celui du milieu au troisième.
9 So he built the house and finished it, and sieled the house being vawted with sieling of cedar trees.
Salomon bâtit la maison et l'acheva; il couvrit la maison de poutres et de planches de cèdre.
10 And he built the galleries vpon al the wall of the house of fiue cubites height, and they were ioyned to the house with beames of cedar.
Il bâtit les étages adossés à toute la maison, en leur donnant cinq coudées de hauteur, et les liant à la maison par des bois de cèdre.
11 And the worde of the Lord came to Salomon, saying,
Et la parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Salomon, en ces termes:
12 Cocerning this house which thou buildest, if thou wilt walke in mine ordinances, and execute my iudgements, and keepe al my commadements, to walke in them, then will I performe vnto thee my promise, which I promised to Dauid thy father.
« Cette maison que tu bâtis..., si tu marches selon mes lois, si tu mets en pratique mes ordonnances, si tu observes tous mes commandements, réglant sur eux ta conduite, j'accomplirai à ton égard ma parole que j'ai dite à David, ton père;
13 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and wil not forsake my people Israel.
j'habiterai au milieu des enfants d'Israël, et je n'abandonnerai pas mon peuple d'Israël. »
14 So Salomon built the house and finished it,
Et Salomon bâtit la maison et l'acheva.
15 And built the walles of the house within, with boards of cedar tree from the pauement of the house vnto the walles of the sieling, and within he couered them with wood, and couered the floore of the house with planks of firre.
Il revêtit intérieurement les murs de la maison de planches de cèdre, depuis le sol de la maison jusqu'au plafond; il revêtit ainsi de lambris l'intérieur; et il recouvrit le sol de la maison de planches de cyprès.
16 And he built twentie cubites in the sides of the house with boards of cedar, from the floore to the walles, and he prepared a place within it for the oracle, euen the most holy place.
Il revêtit de planches de cèdre les vingt coudées à partir du fond de la maison, depuis le sol jusqu'au haut des murs, et il prit sur la maison de quoi lui faire un sanctuaire, le Saint des saints.
17 But the house, that is, the Temple before it, was fourtie cubites long.
La maison, c'est-à-dire le temple antérieur, était de quarante coudées.
18 And the cedar of the house within was carued with knops, and grauen with floures: all was cedar, so that no stone was seene.
Le bois de cèdre à l'intérieur de la maison était sculpté en coloquintes et en fleurs épanouies; tout était cèdre; on ne voyait pas la pierre.
19 Also he prepared the place of the oracle in the mids of the house within, to set the Arke of the couenant of the Lord there.
Salomon disposa le sanctuaire à l'intérieur de la maison, au fond, pour y placer l'arche de l'alliance de Yahweh.
20 And the place of the oracle within was twentie cubites long, and twentie cubites broad, and twentie cubites hie, and hee couered it with pure golde, and couered the altar with cedar.
L'intérieur du sanctuaire avait vingt coudées de longueur, vingt coudées de largeur et vingt coudées de hauteur. Salomon le revêtit d'or fin, et il revêtit l'autel de cèdre.
21 So Salomon couered the house within with pure golde: and he shut the place of the oracle with chaines of gold, and couered it with golde.
Salomon revêtit d'or fin l'intérieur de la maison, et il ferma avec des chaînes d'or le devant du sanctuaire, qu'il couvrit d'or.
22 And he ouerlayde all the house with gold, vntill all the house was made perfite. also he couered the whole altar, that was before the oracle, with golde.
C'est ainsi qu'il revêtit d'or toute la maison, la maison toute entière, et il revêtit d'or tout l'autel qui était devant le sanctuaire.
23 And within the oracle he made two Cherubims of oliue tree, ten cubites hie.
Il fit dans le sanctuaire deux chérubins de bois d'olivier sauvage, ayant dix coudées de haut.
24 The wing also of the one Cherub was fiue cubites, and the wing of the other Cherub was fiue cubites: from the vttermost part of one of his wings vnto the vttermost part of the other of his wings, were ten cubites.
Une des ailes de chaque chérubin avait cinq coudées, et la deuxième aile du chérubin avait cinq coudées; il y avait dix coudées de l'extrémité d'une de ses ailes à l'extrémité de l'autre.
25 Also the other Cherub was of ten cubites: both the Cherubims were of one measure and one sise.
Le second chérubin avait aussi dix coudées. Même mesure et même forme pour les deux chérubins.
26 For the height of the one Cherub was ten cubits, and so was the other Cherub.
La hauteur d'un chérubin était de dix coudées; et de même pour le deuxième chérubin.
27 And he put the Cherubims within the inner house, and the Cherubims stretched out their wings, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other Cherub touched the other wall: and their other wings touched one another in the middes of the house.
Salomon plaça les chérubins au milieu de la maison intérieure, les ailes déployées; l'aile du premier touchait à l'un des murs, et l'aile du second chérubin touchait à l'autre mur, et leurs autres ailes se touchaient, aile contre aile, vers le milieu de la maison.
28 And he ouerlaied the Cherubims with golde.
Et Salomon revêtit d'or les chérubins.
29 And he carued all the walles of the house round about with grauen figures of Cherubims and of Palmetrees, and grauen flowres within and without.
Il fit sculpter en relief, sur tous les murs de la maison, tout autour, à l'intérieur comme à l'extérieur, des chérubins, des palmiers et des fleurs épanouies.
30 And the floore of the house hee couered with golde within and without.
Il revêtit d'or le sol de la maison, à l'intérieur comme à l'extérieur.
31 And in the entring of the oracle he made two doores of oliue tree: and the vpper post and side postes were fiue square.
Il fit à la porte du sanctuaire des battants de bois d'olivier sauvage; l'encadrement avec les poteaux prenait le cinquième du mur.
32 The two doores also were of oliue tree, and he graued them with grauing of Cherubims and palme trees, and grauen floures, and couered them with golde, and layed thin golde vpon the Cherubims and vpon the palme trees.
Sur les deux battants en bois d'olivier sauvage, il fit sculpter des chérubins, des palmiers et des fleurs épanouies, et il les revêtit d'or, étendant l'or sur les chérubins et sur les palmiers.
33 And so made he for the doore of the Temple, postes of oliue tree foure square.
De même il fit, pour la porte du temple, des poteaux de bois d'olivier sauvage, qui prenaient le quart du mur,
34 But the two doores were of firre tree, the two sides of the one doore were round, and the two sides of the other doore were round.
et deux battants en bois de cyprès; le premier battant était formé de deux feuillets qui se repliaient; le deuxième battant était pareillement formé de deux feuillets qui se repliaient.
35 And he graued Cherubims, and palme trees, and carued floures and couered the carued worke with golde, finely wrought.
Il y sculpta des chérubins, des palmiers et des fleurs épanouies, et il les revêtit d'or, adapté à la sculpture.
36 And hee built the court within with three rowes of hewed stone, and one rowe of beames of cedar.
Il bâtit le parvis intérieur de trois rangées de pierres de taille et d'une rangée de poutres de cèdre.
37 In the fourth yeere was the foundation of the house of the Lord layed in the moneth of Zif:
La quatrième année, au mois de ziv, furent posés les fondements de la maison de Yahweh;
38 And in the eleuenth yeere in the moneth of Bul, (which is the eight moneth) hee finished the house with all the furniture thereof, and in euery point: so was he seuen yeere in building it.
et la onzième année, au mois de bul, qui est le huitième mois, la maison fut achevée dans toutes ses parties et telle qu'il convenait. Salomon la construisit dans l'espace de sept ans.
