1 Kings 4
1 And King Salomon was King ouer all Israel.
Koning Salomon heerste over heel Israël.
2 And these were his princes, Azariah the sonne of Zadok the Priest,
Dit waren zijn rijksgroten: Azarjáhoe, de zoon van Sadok, was priester;
3 Elihoreph and Ahiah the sonnes of Shisha scribes, Iehoshaphat the sonne of Ahilud, the recorder,
Elichóref en Achi-ja, de zonen van Sjisja, waren geheimschrijvers; Jehosjafat, de zoon van Achiloed, was kanselier;
4 And Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada was ouer the hoste, and Zadok and Abiathar Priests,

5 And Azariah the sonne of Nathan was ouer the officers, and Zabud the sonne of Nathan Priest was the Kings friend,

6 And Ahishar was ouer the houshold: and Adoniram the sonne of Abda was ouer the tribute.
Achisjar was hofmeester, en Adoniram, de zoon van Abda, was leider van de herendiensten.
7 And Salomon had twelue officers ouer all Israel, which prouided vitailes for the King and his housholde: eche man had a moneth in the yeere to prouide vitailes.
Bovendien had Salomon twaalf landvoogden over geheel Israël, die den koning en zijn hof van alles moesten voorzien; één maand in het jaar moest ieder van hen daarvoor zorgen.
8 And these are their names: the sonne of Hur in mount Ephraim:
Hun namen waren: De zoon van Choer in het gebergte van Efraïm.
9 The sonne of Dekar in Makaz, and in Shaalbim and Beth-shemesh, and Elon and Beth-hanan:
De zoon van Déker te Makas, Sjaälbim, Bet-Sjémesj, Elon en Bet-Chanan.
10 The sonne of Hesed in Aruboth, to whom perteined Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:
De zoon van Chésed te Aroebbot; tot zijn gebied behoorde Soko en het hele land van Chéfer.
11 The sonne of Abinadab in all the region of Dor, which had Taphath the daughter of Salomon to wife.
De zoon van Abinadab over het hele heuvelland van Dor; hij had Tafat, een dochter van Salomon, tot vrouw.
12 Baana the sonne of Ahilud in Taanach, and Megiddo, and in all Beth-shean, which is by Zartanah beneath Izreel, from Beth-shean to Abelmeholah, eue til beyond ouer against Iokmeam:
Baäna, de zoon van Achiloed, over Taänak, Megiddo en geheel Bet-Sjean, dat bij Sartana ligt; dus het gebied beneden Jizreël van Bet-Sjean af tot Abel-Mechola, tot nog voorbij Jokmeam.
13 The sonne of Geber in Ramoth Gilead, and his were the townes of Iair, the sonne of Manasseh, which are in Gilead, and vnder him was the region of Argob, which is in Bashan: threescore great cities with walles and barres of brasse.
De zoon van Géber over Ramot in Gilad; tot zijn gebied behoorde de kampementen van Jaïr. De zoon van Manasse over Gilad en de landstreek Argob in Basjan; over zestig grote steden met muren en koperen sluitbomen.
14 Ahinadab the sonne of Iddo had to Mahanaim:
Achinadab, de zoon van Iddo, over Machanáim.
15 Ahimaaz in Naphtali, and he tooke Basmath the daughter of Salomon to wife:
Achimáas in Neftali; ook hij had een dochter van Salomon, Basemat, tot vrouw genomen.
16 Baanah the sonne of Hushai in Asher and in Aloth:
Baäna, de zoon van Choesjai, over Aser en Bealot.
17 Iehoshaphat the sonne of Paruah in Issachar.
Jehosjafat, de zoon van Paróeach, over Issakar.
18 Shimei the sonne of Elah in Beniamin:
Sjimi de zoon van Ela, over Benjamin.
19 Geber the sonne of Vri in the countrey of Gilead, the land of Sihon King of the Amorites, and of Og King of Bashan, and was officer alone in the land.
Géber, de zoon van Oeri, over het land van Gilad, het land van Sichon, den koning der Amorieten, en dat van Og, den koning van Basjan. En er was één landvoogd in het land van Juda.
20 Iudah and Israel were many, as the sand of the sea in number, eating, drinking, and making merry.
Juda en Israël waren talrijk als het zand aan de zee; zij aten en dronken en waren vrolijk.
21 And Salomon reigned ouer all kingdomes, from the Riuer vnto the lande of the Philistims, and vnto the border of Egypt, and they brought presents, and serued Salomon all the dayes of his life.
Want Salomon heerste over al de koninkrijken van de Rivier af tot aan het land der Filistijnen en tot aan de grens van Egypte; zij brachten Salomon schatting en waren hem onderdanig, zolang hij leefde.
22 And Salomons vitailes for one day were thirtie measures of fine floure, and threescore measures of meale:
De mondbehoefte van Salomon, voor één dag, bedroeg dertig kor bloem en zestig kor meel,
23 Ten fat oxen, and twentie oxen of the pastures, and an hundreth sheepe, beside hartes, and buckes, and bugles, and fat foule.
tien vetgemeste en twintig gewone runderen en honderd schapen, behalve de reeën, gazellen, herten en het gemeste pluimvee.
24 For he ruled in all the region on the other side of the Riuer, from Tiphsah euen vnto Azzah, ouer all the Kings on the other side the Riuer: and he had peace round about him on euery side.
En daar hij het hele gebied aan deze zijde van de Rivier, van Tifsach tot Gaza toe, met al de koningen van dat gebied in bedwang hield, had hij vrede aan alle kanten,
25 And Iudah and Israel dwelt without feare, euery man vnder his vine, and vnder his fig tree, from Dan, euen to Beer-sheba, all the dayes of Salomon.
en zaten zowel de Judeërs als de Israëlieten, van Dan tot Beër-Sjéba, onbezorgd onder hun wijnstok en hun vijgeboom, zolang Salomon leefde.
26 And Salomon had fourtie thousande stalles of horses for his charets, and twelue thousand horsemen.
Bovendien had Salomon vier duizend span paarden voor zijn strijdwagens en twaalfduizend rijpaarden.
27 And these officers prouided vitaile for king Salomon, and for all that came to King Salomons table, euery man his moneth, and they suffred to lacke nothing.
Genoemde landvoogden nu voorzagen, ieder gedurende een maand, koning Salomon en allen, die aan de koninklijke tafel aanzaten van het benodigde, en zorgden er voor, dat niets ontbrak.
28 Barley also and strawe for the horses and mules brought they vnto the place where the officers were, euery man according to his charge.
Het gerst en het stro voor de rij- en wagenpaarden brachten zij, ieder op zijn beurt, naar de plaats, waar het wezen moest.
29 And God gaue Salomon wisdome and vnderstanding exceeding much, and a large heart, euen as the sand that is on the sea shore,
Bovendien gaf God aan Salomon een zeer grote wijsheid, scherpzinnigheid en inzicht, zo groot als het zandige strand aan de zee.
30 And Salomons wisdome excelled the wisedome of all the children of the East and all the wisedome of Egypt.
De wijsheid van Salomon was groter dan die van alle Oosterlingen en alle Egyptenaren.
31 For he was wiser then any man: yea, then were Ethan the Ezrahite, the Heman, then Chalcol, then Darda the sonnes of Mahol: and he was famous throughout all nations round about.
Hij was wijzer dan alle mensen, wijzer zelfs dan Etan, de Ezrachiet, en dan Heman, Kalkol en Darda, de zonen van Machol, zodat hij beroemd was bij alle volkeren in het rond.
32 And Salomon spake three thousand prouerbs: and his songs were a thousand and fiue.
Salomon dichtte drieduizend spreuken en schreef vijfduizend liederen.
33 And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon, euen vnto the hyssope that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of foules, and of creeping thinges, and of fishes.
Hij sprak over alle boomsoorten, van de ceder op de Libanon tot de hysop, die uit de muren schiet; ook over viervoeters, vogels, kruipende dieren en vissen.
34 And there came of all people to heare the wisedome of Salomon, from all Kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisedome.
Van alle volkeren stroomde men dan ook toe, om naar Salomons wijsheid te luisteren en hij ontving geschenken van alle koningen der aarde, die van zijn wijsheid hadden gehoord.
