1 Kings 3
1 Salomon then made affinitie with Pharaoh King of Egypt, and tooke Pharaohs daughter, and brought her into the citie of Dauid, vntill hee had made an ende of buylding his owne house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Ierusalem round about.
E Salomão fez parentesco com Faraó, rei do Egito, porque se casou com a filha de Faraó, e a trouxe à cidade de Davi, até que acabasse de edificar a sua própria casa, e a casa do SENHOR, e os muros de Jerusalém em redor.
2 Only the people sacrificed in the hie places, because there was no house buylt vnto the name of the Lord, vntill those dayes.
Todavia o povo sacrificava nos altares dos lugares altos, porque não havia casa edificada ao nome do SENHOR até aqueles tempos.
3 And Salomon loued the Lord, walking in the ordinances of Dauid his father: onely he sacrificed and offred incense in the hie places.
Mas Salomão amava ao SENHOR, andando nos estatutos de seu pai Davi, exceto que sacrificava e queimava incenso nos altares dos lugares altos.
4 And the King went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the chiefe hie place: a thousand burnt offrings did Salomon offer vpon that altar.
E o rei foi a Gibeão, porque aquele era o principal lugar alto, e Salomão sacrificou ali mil holocaustos sobre aquele altar.
5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Salomon in a dreame by night: and God sayd, Aske what I shall giue thee.
Em uma noite, o SENHOR apareceu a Salomão em sonhos. E Deus lhe disse: Pede o que [queres que] eu te dê.
6 And Salomon sayd, Thou hast shewed vnto thy seruant Dauid my father great mercie, when hee walked before thee in trueth, and in righteousnesse, and in vprightnes of heart with thee: and thou hast kept for him this great mercie, and hast giuen him a sonne, to sit on his throne, as appeareth this day.
E Salomão disse: Tu concedeste grande misericórdia a teu servo Davi, meu pai, como também ele andou perante ti em verdade, em justiça, e com um coração correto para contigo; e guardaste-lhe este teu grande benefício, que lhe deste um filho que se assentasse no seu trono, como acontece hoje.
7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy seruant King in steade of Dauid my father: and I am but a yong childe, and know not howe to go out and in.
Agora, pois, ó SENHOR meu Deus, constituíste a mim, teu servo, rei em lugar de Davi, meu pai; porém sou um tenro jovem, que não sei como entrar nem sair.
8 And thy seruant is in the mids of thy people, which thou hast chosen, euen a great people which cannot be told nor nobred for multitude.
E teu servo está no meio do teu povo que escolheste; um povo grande, que não se pode contar nem numerar por causa de sua multidão.
9 Giue therefore vnto thy seruant an vnderstanding heart, to iudge thy people, that I may discerne betweene good and bad: for who is able to iudge this thy mightie people?
Dá, pois, a teu servo um coração com entendimento para julgar ao teu povo, para discernir entre o bem e o mal; pois quem poderá governar este teu tão grande povo?
10 And this pleased the Lord well, that Salomon had desired this thing.
E foi do agrado do Senhor que Salomão pedisse isso.
11 And God sayde vnto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thy selfe long life, neyther hast asked riches for thy selfe, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thy selfe vnderstanding to heare iudgement,
Deus disse-lhe: Porque pediste isto, e não pediste para ti longa vida, nem pediste para ti riquezas, nem pediste a morte de teus inimigos, mas pediste para ti entendimento para compreender a justiça;
12 Beholde, I haue done according to thy wordes: lo, I haue giuen thee a wise and an vnderstanding heart, so that there hath bene none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall arise the like vnto thee.
Eis que o fiz conforme as tuas palavras: eis que te dei um coração sábio e com entendimento, tanto que não houve antes de ti outro como tu, nem depois de ti se levantará outro como tu.
13 And I haue also giuen thee that, which thou hast not asked, both riches and honour, so that among the Kings there shall be none like vnto thee all thy dayes.
E também te dei as coisas que não pediste: riquezas e honra; de maneira que, entre os reis, ninguém haverá semelhante a ti em todos os teus dias.
14 And if thou wilt walke in my wayes, to keepe mine ordinances and my commandements, as thy father Dauid did walke, I will prolong thy dayes.
E se andares em meus caminhos, guardando meus estatutos e meus mandamentos, como andou Davi, teu pai, prolongarei teus dias.
15 And when Salomon awoke, behold, it was a dreame, and he came to Ierusalem, and stoode before the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, and offred burnt offrings and made peace offrings, and made a feast to all his seruants.
E quando Salomão despertou, viu que era sonho: e veio a Jerusalém, e apresentou-se diante da arca do pacto do SENHOR, e sacrificou holocaustos, e fez ofertas pacíficas; fez também banquete a todos seus servos.
16 Then came two harlots vnto the King, and stoode before him.
Naquela muita vieram duas mulheres prostitutas ao rei, e apresentaram-se diante dele.
17 And the one woman sayd, Oh my lorde, I and this woman dwell in one house, and I was deliuered of a childe with her in the house.
E disse a uma mulher: Ah, senhor meu! Eu e esta mulher morávamos em uma mesma casa, e eu pari estando com ela na casa.
18 And the third day after that I was deliuered, this woman was deliuered also: and we were in the house together: no stranger was with vs in the house, saue we twaine.
E aconteceu ao terceiro dia depois que eu dei à luz, que esta deu à luz também, e morávamos nós juntas; ninguém de fora estava em casa, a não ser nós duas na casa.
19 And this womans sonne died in the night: for she ouerlay him.
E uma noite o filho desta mulher morreu, porque ela se deitou sobre ele.
20 And she rose at midnight, and tooke my sonne from my side, while thine handmaide slept, and layde him in her bosome, and layde her dead sonne in my bosome.
E levantou-se à meia noite, e tomou a meu filho de junto a mim, estando eu tua serva dormindo, e o pôs a seu lado, e pôs a meu lado seu filho morto.
21 And when I rose in the morning to giue my sonne sucke, beholde, he was dead: and when I had well considered him in the morning, beholde, it was not my sonne, whom I had borne.
E quando eu me levantei pela manhã para dar o peito a meu filho, eis que que estava morto: mas observei-lhe pela manhã, e vi que não era meu filho, que eu havia dado à luz.
22 Then the other woman sayd, Nay, but my sonne liueth, and thy sonne is dead. Againe she sayde, No, but thy sonne is dead, and mine aliue: thus they spake before the King.
Então a outra mulher disse: Não; meu filho é o que vive, e teu filho é o morto. E a outra voltou a dizer: Não; teu filho é o morto, e meu filho é o que vive. Assim falavam diante do rei.
23 Then sayde the King, She sayth, This that liueth is my sonne, and the dead is thy sonne: and the other sayth, Nay, but the dead is thy sonne, and the liuing is my sonne.
O rei então disse: Esta disse: Meu filho é o que vive, e teu filho é o morto: e a outra disse: Não, mas o teu é o morto, e meu filho é o que vive.
24 Then the King said, Bring me a sworde: and they brought out a sworde before the King.
E disse o rei: Trazei-me uma espada. E trouxeram ao rei uma espada.
25 And the King sayde, Deuide ye the liuing child in twaine, and giue the one halfe to the one, and the other halfe to the other.
Em seguida o rei disse: Parti por meio o menino vivo, e dai a metade à uma, e a outra metade à outra.
26 Then spake the woman, whose the liuing child was, vnto the King, for her compassion was kindled toward her sonne, and she sayde, Oh my lorde, giue her the liuing childe, and slay him not: but the other sayde, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but deuide it.
Então a mulher cujo era o filho vivo, falou ao rei (porque suas entranhas se lhe comoveram por seu filho), e disse: Ah, senhor meu! Dai a esta o menino vivo, e não o mateis. Mas a outra disse: nem a mim nem a ti; parti-o.
27 Then the King answered, and sayde, Giue her the liuing childe, and slay him not: this is his mother.
Então o rei respondeu, e disse: Dai a aquela o filho vivo, e não o mateis: ela é sua mãe.
28 And all Israel heard the iudgement, which the King had iudged, and they feared the King: for they sawe that the wisedome of God was in him to doe iustice.
E todo Israel ouviu aquele juízo que havia dado o rei: e temeram ao rei, porque viram que havia nele sabedoria de Deus para julgar.
