1 Kings 22
1 And they continued three yeere without warre betweene Aram and Israel.
A przez trzy lata nie było wojny między Syrią a Izraelem.
2 And in the third yeere did Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah come downe to ye King of Israel.
I w trzecim roku Jehoszafat, król Judy, przyjechał do króla Izraela.
3 (Then the King of Israel saide vnto his seruants, Knowe yee not that Ramoth Gilead was ours? and wee stay, and take it not out of ye hand of the King of Aram?)
Wtedy król Izraela powiedział do swoich sług: Czy wiecie, że Ramot-Gilead należy do nas? A my zwlekamy z odebraniem go z ręki króla Syrii.
4 And he sayde vnto Iehoshaphat, Wilt thou goe with mee to battel against Ramoth Gilead? And Iehoshaphat saide vnto the King of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, and mine horses as thine horses.
Zapytał więc Jehoszafata: Czy wyruszysz ze mną na wojnę do Ramot-Gilead? Jehoszafat odpowiedział królowi Izraela: Ja tak, jak i ty, mój lud tak, jak i twój lud, moje konie, jak i twoje konie.
5 Then Iehoshaphat saide vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsaile, I pray thee, of the Lord to day.
Jehoszafat powiedział jeszcze królowi Izraela: Zapytaj dziś, proszę, o słowo PANA.
6 Then the King of Israel gathered the prophets vpon a foure hundreth men, and said vnto them, Shal I go against Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I let it alone? And they said, Go vp: for ye Lord shall deliuer it into the hands of the King.
Król Izraela zebrał więc około czterystu proroków i zapytał ich: Czy mam wyruszyć na wojnę do Ramot-Gilead, czy mam [tego] zaniechać? Odpowiedzieli mu: Wyrusz, bo PAN wyda [je] w ręce króla.
7 And Iehoshaphat said, Is there here neuer a Prophet of the Lord more, that we might inquire of him?
Ale Jehoszafat zapytał: Czy nie ma tu jeszcze jakiegoś proroka PANA, abyśmy mogli go zapytać?
8 And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man (Michaiah the sonne of Imlah) by whom we may aske counsel of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophecie good vnto me, but euill. And Iehoshaphat sayd, Let not the King say so.
Król Izraela odpowiedział Jehoszafatowi: Jest jeszcze jeden człowiek, przez którego moglibyśmy radzić się PANA, ale ja go nienawidzę, bo nie prorokuje mi nic dobrego, tylko to, co złe. Jest to Micheasz, syn Jimli. Jehoszafat powiedział: Niech król tak nie mówi.
9 Then the King of Israel called an Eunuche, and sayde, Call quickely Michaiah the sonne of Imlah.
Wtedy król Izraela zawołał pewnego dworzanina i polecił mu: Przyprowadź tu szybko Micheasza, syna Jimli.
10 And the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne in their apparell in the voyde place at the entring in of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets prophecied before them.
Tymczasem król Izraela i Jehoszafat, król Judy, siedzieli na swoich tronach ubrani w królewskie szaty na placu przed wejściem do bramy Samarii, a przed nimi prorokowali wszyscy prorocy.
11 And Zidkiiah the sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayd, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites, vntill thou hast consumed them.
A Sedekiasz, syn Kenaany, sporządził sobie żelazne rogi i powiedział: Tak mówi PAN: Nimi będziesz bódł Syryjczyków, aż ich wytępisz.
12 And all the prophets prophecied so, saying, Goe vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.
Tak samo prorokowali wszyscy prorocy, mówiąc: Wyrusz do Ramot-Gilead, a poszczęści ci się. PAN bowiem wyda je w ręce króla.
13 And the messenger that was gone to call Michaiah spake vnto him, saying, Beholde now, the wordes of the prophets declare good vnto the King with one accorde: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like the worde of one of them, and speake thou good.
Wtedy posłaniec, który poszedł, aby przywołać Micheasza, powiedział do niego: Oto teraz słowa proroków jednomyślnie przekazują królowi to, co dobre. Niech twoje słowo, proszę, będzie jak słowo jednego z nich i mów to, co dobre.
14 And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer the Lord sayth vnto me, that will I speake.
Micheasz odpowiedział: Jak żyje PAN, będę mówił to, co PAN mi powie.
15 So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go against Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall we leaue off? And he answered him, Goe vp, and prosper: and the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.
A gdy przyszedł do króla, król powiedział do niego: Micheaszu, czy mamy wyruszyć na wojnę do Ramot-Gilead, czy mamy [tego] zaniechać? Odpowiedział: Wyrusz, a poszczęści ci się. PAN bowiem wyda je w ręce króla.
16 And the King said vnto him, How oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the Name of the Lord?
I król powiedział do niego: Ileż razy mam cię zaprzysięgać, abyś mi nie mówił nic innego [jak tylko] prawdę w imieniu PANA?
17 Then he said, I sawe all Israel scattered vpon the mountaines, as sheepe that had no shepheard. And the Lord sayde, These haue no master, let euery man returne vnto his house in peace.
Powiedział więc: Widziałem całego Izraela rozproszonego po górach jak owce niemające pasterza. A PAN powiedział: Oni nie mają pana. Niech każdy wraca do swego domu w pokoju.
18 (And the King of Israel saide vnto Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would prophecie no good vnto me, but euill?)
Wtedy król Izraela powiedział do Jehoszafata: Czy nie mówiłem ci, że nie będzie mi prorokować nic dobrego, tylko to, co złe?
19 Againe he said, Heare thou therefore the worde of the Lord. I sawe the Lord sit on his throne, and all the hoste of heauen stood about him on his right hand and on his left hand.
[Tamten] powiedział: Słuchaj więc słowa PANA: Widziałem PANA siedzącego na swoim tronie, a wszystkie zastępy niebieskie stojące po jego prawicy i lewicy.
20 And the Lord sayd, Who shall entise Ahab that he may go and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one said on this maner, and another sayd on that maner.
I PAN zapytał: Kto zwiedzie Achaba, aby wyruszył do Ramot-Gilead i poległ tam? I jeden mówił tak, a drugi inaczej.
21 Then there came forth a spirit, and stoode before the Lord, and sayd, I wil entise him. And the Lord sayd vnto him, Wherewith?
Wtedy wystąpił duch i stanął przed PANEM, mówiąc: Ja go zwiodę. PAN go zapytał: Jak?
22 And he sayd, I will goe out, and be a false spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. Then he sayd, Thou shalt entise him, and shalt also preuayle: goe forth, and doe so.
Odpowiedział: Wyjdę i będę duchem kłamliwym w ustach wszystkich jego proroków. [PAN] mu powiedział: Zwiedziesz [go], na pewno ci się uda. Idź i tak uczyń.
23 Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirite in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath appoynted euill against thee.
Teraz więc PAN włożył ducha kłamliwego w usta tych wszystkich twoich proroków, gdyż PAN zapowiedział ci nieszczęście.
24 Then Zidkiiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah on the cheeke and sayd, When went the Spirite of the Lord from me, to speake vnto thee?
Wtedy Sedekiasz, syn Kenaany, podszedł do Micheasza i uderzył go w policzek, mówiąc: Którędy odszedł ode mnie Duch PANA, aby mówić z tobą?
25 And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.
Micheasz odpowiedział: Ty sam to zobaczysz tego dnia, kiedy wejdziesz do najskrytszej komnaty, aby się ukryć.
26 And the King of Israel sayd, Take Michaiah, and cary him vnto Amon the gouernour of the citie, and vnto Ioash the Kings sonne,
Król Izraela powiedział: Weź Micheasza i zaprowadź go do Amona, namiestnika miasta, i do Joasza, syna króla.
27 And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction, and with water of affliction, vntill I returne in peace.
I powiesz: Tak mówi król: Wtrąćcie tego [człowieka] do więzienia i żywcie go chlebem utrapienia i wodą ucisku, aż wrócę w pokoju.
28 And Michaiah sayde, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he sayd, Hearken all ye people.
Ale Micheasz odpowiedział: Jeśli rzeczywiście wrócisz w pokoju, to PAN nie mówił przeze mnie. I dodał: Słuchajcie wszyscy ludzie.
29 So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.
Tak więc król Izraela i Jehoszafat, król Judy, wyruszyli do Ramot-Gilead.
30 And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, I will change mine apparell, and will enter into the battell, but put thou on thine apparell. And the King of Israel changed himselfe, and went into the battel.
I król Izraela powiedział do Jehoszafata: Przebiorę się i pójdę na bitwę, ty zaś ubierz się w swoje szaty. Następnie król Izraela przebrał się i poszedł na bitwę.
31 And the King of Aram commanded his two and thirtie captaines ouer his charets, saying, Fight neither with small, nor great, saue onely against the King of Israel.
A król Syrii rozkazał swoim trzydziestu dwom dowódcom rydwanów: Nie walczcie ani z małym, ani z wielkim, tylko z samym królem Izraela.
32 And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayd, Surely it is the King of Israel, and they turned to fight against him: and Iehoshaphat cryed.
A gdy dowódcy rydwanów zobaczyli Jehoszafata, powiedzieli: Na pewno on jest królem Izraela. I zwrócili się przeciwko niemu, aby z nim walczyć, ale Jehoszafat wydał okrzyk.
33 And when the captaines of the charets saw that he was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.
Kiedy dowódcy rydwanów zobaczyli, że on nie jest królem Izraela, odstąpili od niego.
34 Then a certaine man drewe a bow mightily and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine. Wherefore he sayde vnto his charet man, Turne thine hand and cary me out of the hoste: for I am hurt.
A pewien mężczyzna na ślepo naciągnął łuk i ugodził króla Izraela między spojenia pancerza. A ten powiedział swojemu woźnicy: Zawróć i wywieź mnie z pola bitwy, bo jestem ranny.
35 And the battel encreased that day, and the King stoode still in his charet against the Aramites, and dyed at euen: and the blood ran out of the wound into the middes of the charet.
I bitwa wzmogła się tego dnia. Król stał w rydwanie naprzeciw Syryjczyków i wieczorem umarł, a krew spływała z [jego] rany na dno rydwanu.
36 And there went a proclamation thorowout the hoste about the going downe of the sunne, saying, Euery man to his citie, and euery man to his owne countrey.
O zachodzie słońca w obozie wydano rozkaz: Każdy do swego miasta i każdy do swojej ziemi.
37 So the King died, and was brought to Samaria, and they buried the King in Samaria.
Tak więc król umarł i przywieziono go do Samarii, i pogrzebano go w Samarii.
38 And one washed the charet in the poole of Samaria, and the dogs licked vp his blood (and they washed his armour) according vnto the word of the Lord which he spake.
A gdy myto rydwan w sadzawce Samarii, psy lizały jego krew, myto także jego zbroję, według słowa PANA, które zapowiedział.
39 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ahab and all that he did, and the yuorie house which he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
A pozostałe sprawy Achaba i wszystko, co uczynił, oraz dom z kości słoniowej, który wzniósł, a także wszystkie miasta, które zbudował – czy nie są opisane w kronikach królów Izraela?
40 So Ahab slept with his fathers, and Ahaziah his sonne reigned in his stead.
I Achab zasnął ze swymi ojcami, a królował jego syn Achazjasz w jego miejsce.
41 And Iehoshaphat the sonne of Asa began to reigne vpon Iudah in the fourth yeere of Ahab King of Israel.
A Jehoszafat, syn Asy, zaczął królować nad Judą w czwartym roku Achaba, króla Izraela.
42 Iehoshaphat was fiue and thirty yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned fiue and twentie yeere in Ierusalem. And his mothers name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
Jehoszafat miał trzydzieści pięć lat, gdy zaczął królować, a dwadzieścia pięć lat królował w Jerozolimie. Jego matka [miała] na imię Azuba [i była] córką Szilchiego.
43 And he walked in all the wayes of Asa his father, and declined not therefrom, but did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord. Neuerthelesse the hie places were not taken away: for the people offred still and burnt incense in the hie places.
I szedł wszystkimi drogami Asy, swego ojca, i nie zboczył z nich, czyniąc to, co było dobre w oczach PANA. Jednak wyżyn nie usunięto. Lud bowiem jeszcze składał ofiary i palił kadzidło na wyżynach.
44 And Iehoshaphat made peace with the King of Israel.
Jehoszafat także zawarł pokój z królem Izraela.
45 Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehoshaphat, and his worthy deedes that he did, and his battels which he fought, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
A pozostałe sprawy Jehoszafata i jego potęga, którą pokazywał, i to, jak walczył – czyż nie są zapisane w kronikach królów Judy?
46 And the Sodomites, which remayned in the dayes of his father Asa, he put cleane out of the land.
Usunął też z ziemi resztę sodomitów, którzy pozostali za dni Asy, jego ojca.
47 There was then no King in Edom: the deputie was King.
W tym czasie nie [było] króla w Edomie. Królem był namiestnik.
48 Iehoshaphat made shippes of Tharshish to sayle to Ophir for golde, but they went not, for the shippes were broken at Ezion Gaber.
Jehoszafat zbudował okręty Tarszisz, aby płynęły do Ofiru po złoto. Lecz nie dopłynęły, bo okręty rozbiły się w Esjon-Geber.
49 Then sayde Ahaziah the sonne of Ahab vnto Iehoshaphat, Let my seruants goe with thy seruants in the ships, But Iehoshaphat would not.
Wtedy Achazjasz, syn Achaba, powiedział do Jehoszafata: Niech moi słudzy płyną na okrętach z twoimi sługami. Ale Jehoszafat nie chciał.
50 And Iehoshaphat did sleepe with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid his father, and Iehoram his sonne reigned in his stead.
I Jehoszafat zasnął ze swymi ojcami, i został pogrzebany wraz z nimi w mieście Dawida, swego ojca. W jego miejsce królował jego syn Joram.
51 Ahaziah the sonne of Ahab began to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, the seuenteenth yeere of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, and reigned two yeeres ouer Israel.
Achazjasz, syn Achaba, zaczął królować nad Izraelem w Samarii w siedemnastym roku Jehoszafata, króla Judy, i królował nad Izraelem dwa lata.
52 But he did euill in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne.
Czynił to, co złe w oczach PANA, idąc drogą swego ojca, drogą swej matki i drogą Jeroboama, syna Nebata, który przywiódł Izraela do grzechu.
53 For he serued Baal and worshipped him, and prouoked the Lord God of Israel vnto wrath, according vnto all that his father had done.
Służył bowiem Baalowi, oddawał mu pokłon i pobudzał do gniewu PANA, Boga Izraela, według wszystkiego, co czynił jego ojciec.
