1 Kings 22
1 And they continued three yeere without warre betweene Aram and Israel.
১অরাম ও ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে তিন বছর পর্যন্ত কোনো যুদ্ধ হয়নি।
2 And in the third yeere did Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah come downe to ye King of Israel.
২তৃতীয় বছরে যিহূদার রাজা যিহোশাফট ইস্রায়েলের রাজার সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গেলেন।
3 (Then the King of Israel saide vnto his seruants, Knowe yee not that Ramoth Gilead was ours? and wee stay, and take it not out of ye hand of the King of Aram?)
৩ইস্রায়েলের রাজা তাঁর দাসদের বললেন, “আপনারা কি জানেন যে, রামোৎ গিলিয়দ আমাদের? অথচ আমরা অরামের রাজার কাছ থেকে সেটা ফিরিয়ে নেবার জন্য কিছুই করছি না।”
4 And he sayde vnto Iehoshaphat, Wilt thou goe with mee to battel against Ramoth Gilead? And Iehoshaphat saide vnto the King of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, and mine horses as thine horses.
৪তখন তিনি যিহোশাফটকে বললেন, “আপনি কি যুদ্ধ করবার জন্য আমার সঙ্গে রামোৎ গিলিয়দে যাবেন?” উত্তরে যিহোশাফট ইস্রায়েলের রাজাকে বললেন, “আমি ও আপনি আমার লোক ও আপনার লোক সবাই এক, আর আমার ঘোড়া আপনারই ঘোড়া।”
5 Then Iehoshaphat saide vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsaile, I pray thee, of the Lord to day.
৫কিন্তু যিহোশাফট ইস্রায়েলের রাজাকে এই কথাও বললেন, “আজ সদাপ্রভুর পরিকল্পনা জানুন।”
6 Then the King of Israel gathered the prophets vpon a foure hundreth men, and said vnto them, Shal I go against Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I let it alone? And they said, Go vp: for ye Lord shall deliuer it into the hands of the King.
৬কাজেই ইস্রায়েলের রাজা ভাববাদীদের ডেকে জড়ো করলেন। তাদের সংখ্যা ছিল প্রায় চারশো। তিনি তাদের জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “রামোৎ গিলিয়দের বিরুদ্ধে কি আমি যুদ্ধ করতে যাব, না যাব না?” তারা বলল, “যান, কারণ প্রভু ওটা রাজার হাতেই তুলে দেবেন।”
7 And Iehoshaphat said, Is there here neuer a Prophet of the Lord more, that we might inquire of him?
৭কিন্তু যিহোশাফট বললেন, “এখানে কি সদাপ্রভুর কোনো একটা ভাববাদী নেই যার কাছে আমরা জিজ্ঞাসা করতে পারি?”
8 And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man (Michaiah the sonne of Imlah) by whom we may aske counsel of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophecie good vnto me, but euill. And Iehoshaphat sayd, Let not the King say so.
৮উত্তরে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহূদার রাজা যিহোশাফটকে বললেন, “এখনও এমন একজন লোক আছে যার মধ্য দিয়ে আমরা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে জিজ্ঞাসা করতে পারি, সে হল যিম্লের ছেলে মীখায়, কিন্তু আমি তাকে ঘৃণা করি, কারণ সে আমার সম্বন্ধে মঙ্গলের কথা বলে না, শুধু অমঙ্গলের কথাই বলে।” উত্তরে যিহোশাফট বললেন, “রাজা যেন ঐ রকম কথা না বলেন।”
9 Then the King of Israel called an Eunuche, and sayde, Call quickely Michaiah the sonne of Imlah.
৯তখন ইস্রায়েলের রাজা তাঁর একজন কর্মচারীকে আদেশ করলেন, “তুমি এখনই যিম্লের ছেলে মীখায়কে ডেকে নিয়ে এস।”
10 And the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne in their apparell in the voyde place at the entring in of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets prophecied before them.
১০ইস্রায়েলের রাজা ও যিহূদার রাজা যিহোশাফট রাজপোশাক পরে শমরিয়া শহরের ফটকের কাছে খোলা জায়গায় তাঁদের সিংহাসনের উপরে বসে ছিলেন আর ভাববাদীরা সবাই তাঁদের সামনে ভবিষ্যতের কথা বলছিল।
11 And Zidkiiah the sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayd, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites, vntill thou hast consumed them.
১১লোহার শিং তৈরী করে নিয়ে কনানার ছেলে সিদিকিয় এই কথা ঘোষণা করল, “সদাপ্রভু বলছেন যে, অরামীয়েরা শেষ হয়ে না যাওয়া পর্যন্ত আপনি এগুলো দিয়েই তাদের গুঁতাতে থাকবেন।”
12 And all the prophets prophecied so, saying, Goe vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.
১২অন্যান্য ভাববাদীরাও একই রকম কথা বলল। তারা বলল, “রামোৎ গিলিয়দ আক্রমণ করে তা জয় করে নিন, কারণ সদাপ্রভু সেটা রাজার হাতে তুলে দেবেন।”
13 And the messenger that was gone to call Michaiah spake vnto him, saying, Beholde now, the wordes of the prophets declare good vnto the King with one accorde: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like the worde of one of them, and speake thou good.
১৩যে লোকটি মীখায়কে ডেকে আনতে গিয়েছিল সে তাঁকে বলল, “দেখুন, অন্যান্য ভাববাদীরা সবাই একমুখে রাজার সফলতার কথা বলছেন। আপনার কথাও যেন তাঁদের কথার মতই হয়। আপনি মঙ্গলের কথাই বলবেন।”
14 And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer the Lord sayth vnto me, that will I speake.
১৪কিন্তু মীখায় বললেন, “জীবন্ত সদাপ্রভুর দিব্যি যে, সদাপ্রভু আমাকে যা বলবেন আমি কেবল সেই কথাই বলব।”
15 So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go against Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall we leaue off? And he answered him, Goe vp, and prosper: and the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.
১৫পরে তিনি আসলে রাজা তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “মীখায়, আমরা কি রামোৎ গিলিয়দের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করতে যাব, না যাব না?” উত্তরে মীখায় বললেন, “হ্যাঁ, যান, আক্রমণ করে জয়লাভ করুন, সদাপ্রভু তা মহারাজের হাতে দেবেন।”
16 And the King said vnto him, How oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the Name of the Lord?
১৬রাজা তাঁকে বললেন, “সদাপ্রভুর নামে তুমি সত্যি কথা ছাড়া আর কিছু বলবে না কতবার আমি তোমাকে এই শপথ করতে বলব?”
17 Then he said, I sawe all Israel scattered vpon the mountaines, as sheepe that had no shepheard. And the Lord sayde, These haue no master, let euery man returne vnto his house in peace.
১৭উত্তরে মীখায় বললেন, “আমি দেখলাম, ইস্রায়েলীয়েরা সবাই রাখালহীন ভেড়ার মত পাহাড়ের উপরে ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে। তাই সদাপ্রভু বললেন, ‘এদের কোনো প্রভু নেই, কাজেই তারা শান্তিতে যে যার বাড়িতে চলে যাক’।”
18 (And the King of Israel saide vnto Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would prophecie no good vnto me, but euill?)
১৮তখন ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহোশাফটকে বললেন, “আমি কি আপনাকে আগেই বলি নি যে, সে আমার সম্বন্ধে অমঙ্গল ছাড়া মঙ্গলের কথা বলবে না?”
19 Againe he said, Heare thou therefore the worde of the Lord. I sawe the Lord sit on his throne, and all the hoste of heauen stood about him on his right hand and on his left hand.
১৯মীখায় বলতে লাগলেন, “আপনি সদাপ্রভুর কথা শুনুন। আমি দেখলাম, সদাপ্রভু তাঁর সিংহাসনে বসে আছেন এবং তাঁর ডান ও বাঁ দিকে সমস্ত স্বর্গদূতেরা রয়েছেন।
20 And the Lord sayd, Who shall entise Ahab that he may go and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one said on this maner, and another sayd on that maner.
২০তখন সদাপ্রভু বললেন, ‘রামোৎ গিলিয়দ আক্রমণ করবার জন্য কে আহাবকে ভুলিয়ে সেখানে নিয়ে যাবে যাতে সে মারা যায়?’ তখন এক একজন এক এক কথা বললেন।
21 Then there came forth a spirit, and stoode before the Lord, and sayd, I wil entise him. And the Lord sayd vnto him, Wherewith?
২১তখন একটি আত্মা এগিয়ে আসলো, সদাপ্রভুর সামনে দাঁড়ালো এবং বলল, ‘আমি তাকে ভুলিয়ে নিয়ে যাব।’
22 And he sayd, I will goe out, and be a false spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. Then he sayd, Thou shalt entise him, and shalt also preuayle: goe forth, and doe so.
২২সদাপ্রভু জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, ‘কেমন করে করবে?’ সে বলল, ‘আমি গিয়ে তার সব ভাববাদীদের মুখে মিথ্যা বলবার আত্মা হব।’ সদাপ্রভু বললেন, ‘তুমিই তাকে ভুলিয়ে নিয়ে যেতে পারবে। এখন যাও এবং তুমি গিয়ে তাই কর।’
23 Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirite in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath appoynted euill against thee.
২৩এইজন্যই সদাপ্রভু এখন আপনার এই সব ভাববাদীদের মুখে মিথ্যা বলবার আত্মা দিয়েছেন। তোমার সর্বনাশ হবার জন্য সদাপ্রভু আদেশ দিয়েছেন।”
24 Then Zidkiiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah on the cheeke and sayd, When went the Spirite of the Lord from me, to speake vnto thee?
২৪তখন কনানার ছেলে সিদিকিয় গিয়ে মীখায়ের গালে চড় মেরে বলল, “সদাপ্রভুর আত্মা তোর সঙ্গে কথা বলবার জন্য আমার কাছ থেকে বেরিয়ে কোন পথে গিয়েছিলেন?”
25 And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.
২৫মীখায় বললেন, “দেখ, যেদিন তুমি নিজেকে লুকাবার জন্য ভিতরের ঘরে গিয়ে ঢুকবে সেই দিন তুমি তা জানতে পারবে।”
26 And the King of Israel sayd, Take Michaiah, and cary him vnto Amon the gouernour of the citie, and vnto Ioash the Kings sonne,
২৬ইস্রায়েলের রাজা তখন এই বললেন, “মীখায়কে শহরের শাসনকর্ত্তা আমোন ও রাজপুত্র যোয়াশের কাছে আবার পাঠিয়ে দাও।
27 And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction, and with water of affliction, vntill I returne in peace.
২৭তাদের বল রাজা বলেছেন এই লোকটিকে যেন জেলে রাখা হয় এবং রাজা নিরাপদে ফিরে না আসা পর্যন্ত তাকে অল্প জল আর অল্প রুটি ছাড়া যেন আর কিছু দেওয়া না হয়।”
28 And Michaiah sayde, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he sayd, Hearken all ye people.
২৮তখন মীখায় বললেন, “যদি আপনি সত্যিই নিরাপদে ফিরে আসেন তবে জানবেন সদাপ্রভু আমার মধ্য দিয়ে কথা বলেন নি।” তারপর তিনি আবার বললেন, “আপনারা সবাই আমার কথাটা শুনে রাখুন।”
29 So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.
২৯এর পরে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা ও যিহূদার রাজা যিহোশাফট রামোৎ গিলিয়দ আক্রমণ করতে গেলেন।
30 And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, I will change mine apparell, and will enter into the battell, but put thou on thine apparell. And the King of Israel changed himselfe, and went into the battel.
৩০আহাব যিহোশাফটকে বললেন, “আমাকে যাতে লোকেরা চিনতে না পারে সেইজন্য আমি অন্য পোশাক পরে যুদ্ধে যোগ দেব, কিন্তু আপনি আপনার রাজপোশাকই পরুন।” এই বলে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা অন্য পোশাক পরে যুদ্ধ করতে গেলেন।
31 And the King of Aram commanded his two and thirtie captaines ouer his charets, saying, Fight neither with small, nor great, saue onely against the King of Israel.
৩১অরামের রাজা তাঁর রথগুলোর বত্রিশজন সেনাপতিকে এই আদেশ দিয়ে রেখেছিলেন, “একমাত্র ইস্রায়েলের রাজা ছাড়া আপনারা ছোট কি বড় আর কারও সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করবেন না।”
32 And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayd, Surely it is the King of Israel, and they turned to fight against him: and Iehoshaphat cryed.
৩২রথের সেনাপতিরা যিহোশাফটকে দেখে ভেবেছিলেন যে, “তিনি নিশ্চয়ই ইস্রায়েলের রাজা।” কাজেই তাঁরা ফিরে তাঁকে আক্রমণ করতে গেলেন কিন্তু যিহোশাফট চেঁচিয়ে উঠলেন।
33 And when the captaines of the charets saw that he was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.
৩৩এতে সেনাপতিরা বুঝলেন যে, তিনি ইস্রায়েলের রাজা নন সেইজন্য তাঁরা আর তাঁর পিছনে তাড়া করলেন না।
34 Then a certaine man drewe a bow mightily and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine. Wherefore he sayde vnto his charet man, Turne thine hand and cary me out of the hoste: for I am hurt.
৩৪কিন্তু একজন লোক লক্ষ্য স্থির না করেই তার ধনুকে টান দিয়ে ইস্রায়েলের রাজার বুক ও পেটের বর্মের মাঝামাঝি ফাঁকা জায়গায় আঘাত করে বসল। তখন রাজা তাঁর রথ চালককে বললেন, “রথ ঘুরিয়ে তুমি যুদ্ধের জায়গা থেকে আমাকে বাইরে নিয়ে চল। কারণ আমি আঘাত পেয়েছি।”
35 And the battel encreased that day, and the King stoode still in his charet against the Aramites, and dyed at euen: and the blood ran out of the wound into the middes of the charet.
৩৫সারা দিন ধরে ভীষণ যুদ্ধ চলল আর রাজাকে অরামীয়দের মুখোমুখি করে রথের মধ্যে বসিয়ে রাখা হল। তাঁর ক্ষত থেকে রক্ত ঝরে রথের মেঝের উপর পড়তে লাগল আর সন্ধ্যাবেলার দিকে তিনি মারা গেলেন।
36 And there went a proclamation thorowout the hoste about the going downe of the sunne, saying, Euery man to his citie, and euery man to his owne countrey.
৩৬সূর্য্য ডুবে যাবার দিন সৈন্যদলের মধ্যে এই কথা ঘোষণা করা হল, “তোমরা প্রত্যেকেই নিজের নিজের শহরে ও নিজের নিজের বাড়িতে ফিরে যাও।”
37 So the King died, and was brought to Samaria, and they buried the King in Samaria.
৩৭এই ভাবে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা মারা গেলেন এবং তাঁকে শমরিয়াতে আনা হল। লোকেরা তাঁকে সেখানেই কবর দিল।
38 And one washed the charet in the poole of Samaria, and the dogs licked vp his blood (and they washed his armour) according vnto the word of the Lord which he spake.
৩৮শমরিয়ার পুকুরের ধারে তাঁর রথটা ধোওয়া হল এবং সদাপ্রভুর ঘোষণা অনুসারে কুকুরেরা সেখানে তাঁর রক্ত চেটে খেল (বেশ্যারা সেই পুকুরে স্নান করল)।
39 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ahab and all that he did, and the yuorie house which he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
৩৯আহাবের অন্যান্য সমস্ত কাজের কথা, অর্থাৎ তিনি যা কিছু করেছিলেন সেই সব কথা, হাতীর দাঁতের কাজ করা যে রাজবাড়ী তিনি তৈরী করেছিলেন তার কথা এবং যে শহরগুলো তিনি শক্তিশালী করে গড়ে তুলেছিলেন সেগুলোর কথা ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের ইতিহাস বইটিতে কি লেখা নেই?
40 So Ahab slept with his fathers, and Ahaziah his sonne reigned in his stead.
৪০আহাব তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে নিদ্রায় গেলেন; আর তাঁর জায়গায় তাঁর ছেলে অহসিয় রাজা হলেন।
41 And Iehoshaphat the sonne of Asa began to reigne vpon Iudah in the fourth yeere of Ahab King of Israel.
৪১ইস্রায়েলের রাজা আহাবের রাজত্বের চার বছরের দিন আসার ছেলে যিহোশাফট যিহূদা দেশের রাজা হয়েছিলেন।
42 Iehoshaphat was fiue and thirty yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned fiue and twentie yeere in Ierusalem. And his mothers name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
৪২যিহোশাফট পঁয়ত্রিশ বছর বয়সে রাজত্ব শুরু করেন এবং পঁচিশ বছর যিরূশালেমে রাজত্ব করেন। তাঁর মায়ের নাম অসুরা, তিনি শিল্হিরের মেয়ে।
43 And he walked in all the wayes of Asa his father, and declined not therefrom, but did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord. Neuerthelesse the hie places were not taken away: for the people offred still and burnt incense in the hie places.
৪৩যিহোশাফট সব ব্যাপারেই তাঁর বাবা আসার পথ ধরেই চলতেন, কখনও সেই পথ ছেড়ে যান নি। সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা ঠিক তিনি তাই করতেন। উঁচু স্থানগুলো ধ্বংস করা হয়নি, লোকেরা সেখানে পশু উৎসর্গ করত ও ধূপ জ্বালাত।
44 And Iehoshaphat made peace with the King of Israel.
৪৪ইস্রায়েলের রাজার সঙ্গে তিনি সন্ধি স্থাপন করেছিলেন।
45 Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehoshaphat, and his worthy deedes that he did, and his battels which he fought, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
৪৫যিহোশাফটের অন্যান্য বিবরণ এবং তিনি যে যে কাজ ও যে সব যুদ্ধ করেছিলেন, সে সব যিহূদার রাজাদের ইতিহাস বইটিতে কি লেখা নেই?
46 And the Sodomites, which remayned in the dayes of his father Asa, he put cleane out of the land.
৪৬তাঁর বাবা আসার রাজত্বের পরেও যে সব পুরুষ বেশ্যারা বাকি রয়ে গিয়েছিল তিনি দেশ থেকে তাদের দূর করে দিয়েছিলেন।
47 There was then no King in Edom: the deputie was King.
৪৭সেই দিন ইদোমে কোনো রাজা ছিল না। একজন প্রতিনিধি সেখানে রাজত্ব করতেন।
48 Iehoshaphat made shippes of Tharshish to sayle to Ophir for golde, but they went not, for the shippes were broken at Ezion Gaber.
৪৮যিহোশাফট সোনা ওফীরে নিয়ে যাবার জন্য কতগুলো বড় বড় তর্শীশ জাহাজ তৈরী করলেন, কিন্তু সেগুলোর আর যাওয়া হল না, কারণ ইৎসিয়োন গেবরে সেগুলো ধ্বংস হয়ে গিয়েছিল।
49 Then sayde Ahaziah the sonne of Ahab vnto Iehoshaphat, Let my seruants goe with thy seruants in the ships, But Iehoshaphat would not.
৪৯তখন আহাবের ছেলে অহসিয় যিহোশাফটকে বললেন, “আমার লোকেরা আপনার লোকদের সঙ্গে জাহাজে যাক।” কিন্তু যিহোশাফট রাজি হলেন না।
50 And Iehoshaphat did sleepe with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid his father, and Iehoram his sonne reigned in his stead.
৫০পরে যিহোশাফট তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে নিদ্রায় গেলেন এবং তাঁকে তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষ দায়ূদের শহরে তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে কবর দেওয়া হল; তাঁর জায়গায় তাঁর ছেলে যিহোরাম রাজা হলেন।
51 Ahaziah the sonne of Ahab began to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, the seuenteenth yeere of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, and reigned two yeeres ouer Israel.
৫১যিহূদার রাজা যিহোশাফটের রাজত্বের সতেরো বছরের দিন আহাবের ছেলে অহসিয় শমরিয়াতে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা হলেন। তিনি ইস্রায়েলের উপরে দুই বছর রাজত্ব করেছিলেন।
52 But he did euill in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne.
৫২সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা মন্দ তিনি তাই করতেন। তিনি তাঁর বাবা ও মায়ের মত এবং নবাটের ছেলে যারবিয়ামের মত চলতেন। এই যারবিয়াম যেমন ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের দিয়ে পাপ করিয়েছিলেন অহসিয়ও তাই করেছিলেন।
53 For he serued Baal and worshipped him, and prouoked the Lord God of Israel vnto wrath, according vnto all that his father had done.
৫৩তিনি বাল দেবতার সেবা ও পূজা করতেন এবং তাঁর বাবা যেমন করেছিলেন তিনিও তেমনি করে ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে অসন্তুষ্ট করে তুলেছিলেন।
