1 Kings 20
1 Then Ben-hadad the King of Aram assembled all his armie, and two and thirtie Kings with him, with horses, and charets, and went vp and besieged Samaria, and fought against it.
Entonces Ben-adad rey de Siria juntó todo su ejército, y con él treinta y dos reyes con caballos y carros; y subió, y puso cerco a Samaria, y la combatia.
2 And he sent messengers to Ahab King of Israel, into the citie,
Y envió mensajeros a Acab rey de Israel a la ciudad, diciendo:
3 And sayd vnto him, Thus sayth Ben-hadad, Thy siluer and thy golde is mine: also thy women, and thy fayre children are mine.
Así ha dicho Ben-adad: Tu plata y tu oro es mío, y tus mujeres, y tus hijos hermosos son míos.
4 And the King of Israel answered, and sayd, My lord King, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I haue.
Y el rey de Israel respondió, y dijo: Como tú lo dices rey señor mío, yo soy tuyo, y todo lo que tengo.
5 And when the messengers came againe, they said, Thus commandeth Ben-hadad, and saith, When I shall send vnto thee, and command, thou shalt deliuer me thy siluer and thy golde, and thy women, and thy children,
Y volviendo los mensajeros otra vez, dijeron: Así dijo Ben-adad: Envío yo a ti, diciendo: Tu plata y tu oro, y tus mujeres, y tus hijos me darás; y mañana a estas horas,
6 Or els I will sende my seruants vnto thee by to morow this time: and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy seruants: and whatsoeuer is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall take it in their handes, and bring it away.
Yo enviaré a ti mis siervos, los cuales escudriñarán tu casa, y las casas de tus siervos, y tomarán con sus manos, y llevarán todo lo precioso que tuvieres.
7 Then the King of Israel sent for all the Elders of the land, and sayd, Take heede, I pray you, and see how he seeketh mischiefe: for he sent vnto me for my wiues, and for my children, and for my siluer, and for my golde, and I denyed him not.
Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a todos los ancianos de la tierra, y díjoles: Entendéd, y ved ahora, como este no busca sino mal; porque ha enviado a mi por mis mujeres y mis hijos, y por mi plata y por mi oro; y yo no se lo he negado.
8 And all the Elders, and all the people sayd to him, Hearken not vnto him, nor consent.
Y todos los ancianos y todo el pueblo le respondieron: No le oigas, ni hagas lo que pide.
9 Wherefore hee sayde vnto the messengers of Ben-hadad, Tell my lorde the King, All that thou didddest sende for to thy seruant at the first time, that I will doe, but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him an answere.
Entonces él respondió a los embajadores de Ben-adad: Decíd al rey mi señor: Todo lo que mandaste a tu siervo al principio, haré: mas esto, no lo puedo hacer. Y los embajadores fueron, y diéronle la respuesta.
10 And Ben-hadad sent vnto him, and sayde, The gods do so to me and more also, if the dust of Samaria be ynough to all the people that follow me, for euery man an handfull.
Y Ben-adad tornó a enviar a él, diciendo: Así me hagan los dioses, y así me añadan, que el polvo de Samaria no bastará a los puños de todo el pueblo que me sigue.
11 And the King of Israel answered, and sayd, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth his harneis, boast himselfe, as he that putteth it off.
Y el rey de Israel respondió, y dijo: Decídle, que no se alabe el que se ciñe, como el que ya se desciñe.
12 And when he heard that tidings, as he was with the Kings drinking in the pauilions, he sayd vnto his seruants, Bring forth your engines, and they set them against the citie.
Y como el oyó esta palabra, estando bebiendo con los reyes en las tiendas, dijo a sus siervos: Ponéd. Y ellos pusieron contra la ciudad.
13 And beholde, there came a Prophet vnto Ahab King of Israel, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Hast thou seene all this great multitude? beholde, I will deliuer it into thine hande this day, that thou mayest knowe, that I am the Lord.
Y, he aquí, un profeta vino a Acab rey de Israel, y le dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: ¿Has visto esta tan grande multitud? He aquí, yo te la entregaré hoy en tu mano, para que conozcas que yo soy Jehová.
14 And Ahab sayd, By whome? And he sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, By the seruants of the princes of the prouinces. He sayde againe, Who shall order the battel? And he answered, Thou.
Y respondió Acab: ¿Por mano de quién? Y él dijo: Así dijo Jehová: Por mano de los criados de los príncipes de las provincias. Y él tornó a decir: ¿Quién comenzará la batalla? Y él respondió: Tú.
15 Then he nombred the seruantes of the princes of the prouinces, and they were two hundreth, two and thirtie: and after them he nombred the whole people of all the children of Israel, euen seuen thousand.
Entonces él reconoció los criados de los príncipes de las provincias, los cuales fueron doscientos y treinta y dos. Luego reconoció todo el pueblo, todos los hijos de Israel, que fueron siete mil.
16 And they went out at noone: but Ben-hadad did drinke till he was drunken in the tentes, both he and the Kings: for two and thirtie Kings helped him.
Y salieron a mediodía: y Ben-adad estaba bebiendo, borracho en las tiendas, él y los reyes: treinta y dos reyes, que habían venido en su ayuda.
17 So the seruants of the princes of the prouinces went out first: and Ben-hadad sent out, and they shewed him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.
Y los criados de los príncipes de las provincias salieron los primeros. Y Ben-adad había enviado quien le dio aviso, diciendo: Varones han salido de Samaria.
18 And he sayde, Whether they be come out for peace, take them aliue: or whether they bee come out to fight, take them yet aliue.
El entonces dijo: Si han salido por paz, tomádlos vivos: y si han salido para pelear tomádlos vivos.
19 So they came out of the citie, to wit, the seruants of the princes of the prouinces, and the hoste which followed them.
Y los criados de los príncipes de las provincias salieron de la ciudad, y después de ellos el ejército.
20 And they slew euery one his enemie: and the Aramites fled, and Israel pursued them: but Ben-hadad ye King of Aram escaped on an horse with his horsemen.
E hirió cada uno al que venía contra sí; y los Siros huyeron, siguiéndolos los de Israel, Y el rey de Siria Ben-adad se escapó sobre un caballo, y la gente de a caballo.
21 And the King of Israel went out, and smote the horses and charets, and with a great slaughter slew he the Aramites.
Y salió el rey de Israel, e hirió la gente de a caballo y los carros: y deshizo los Siros con grande estrago.
22 (For there had come a Prophet to the King of Israel, and had sayd vnto him, Goe, be of good courage, and consider, and take heede what thou doest: for when the yeere is gone about, the King of Aram wil come vp against thee)
Y llegándose el profeta al rey de Israel, díjole: Vé, esfuérzate: sabe y mira lo que has de hacer, porque pasado el año el rey de Siria ha de venir contra ti.
23 Then the seruants of the King of Aram said vnto him, Their gods are gods of the moutaines, and therefore they ouercame vs: but let vs fight against them in the playne, and doubtlesse we shall ouercome them.
Y los siervos del rey de Siria le dijeron: Sus dioses son dioses de los montes, por eso nos han vencido: mas si peleáremos con ellos en campaña, verse ha si no los venciéremos.
24 And this doe, Take the Kings away, euery one out of his place, and place captaines for them.
Haz pues así: saca los reyes cada uno de su lugar, y pon capitanes en lugar de ellos.
25 And nomber thy selfe an armie, like the armie that thou hast lost, with such horses, and such charets, and we wil fight against them in the plaine, and doubtlesse we shall ouercome them: and he hearkened vnto their voyce, and did so.
Y tú hazte otro ejército cual fue el ejército que perdiste: caballos por caballos, y carros por carros; y pelearemos con ellos en campo raso, y veremos si no los vencemos. Y él los oyó, e hízolo así.
26 And after the yeere was gone about, Ben-hadad nombred the Aramites, and went vp to Aphek to fight against Israel.
Pasado el año, Ben-adad reconoció los Siros, y vino en Afec a pelear contra Israel.
27 And the children of Israel were nombred, and were all assembled and went against them, and the children of Israel pitched before them, like two litle flockes of kiddes: but the Aramites filled the countrey.
Y los hijos de Israel fueron también reconocidos, y tomando viandas fuéronles al encuentro, y asentaron campo los hijos de Israel delante de ellos, como dos rebañuelos de cabras: y los Siros henchían la tierra.
28 And there came a man of God, and spake vnto the King of Israel, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Because the Aramites haue sayd, The Lord is the God of the mountaines, and not God of the valleis, therefore will I deliuer all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
(Y llegándose el varón de Dios al rey de Israel hablóle, diciendo: Así dijo Jehová: Por cuanto los Siros han dicho: Jehová es Dios de los montes, no Dios de los valles, yo entregaré toda esta grande multitud en tu mano: para que conozcáis que yo soy Jehová.)
29 And they pitched one ouer against the other seuen dayes, and in the seuenth day the battel was ioyned: and the children of Israel slew of the Aramites an hundreth thousand footemen in one day.
Siete días tuvieron asentado campo los unos delante de los otros, y al séptimo día se dio la batalla: y mataron los hijos de Israel de los Siros en un día cien mil hombres de a pie.
30 But the rest fled to Aphek into the citie: and there fel a wall vpon seuen and twentie thousand men that were left: and Ben-hadad fled into the citie, and came into a secret chamber.
Los demás huyeron a Afec a la ciudad: y el muro cayó sobre veinte y siete mil hombres, que habían quedado: y Ben-adad vino huyendo a la ciudad, y escondíase de cámara en cámara.
31 And his seruants sayd vnto him, Beholde nowe, we haue heard say that the Kings of the house of Israel are mercifull Kings: we pray thee, let vs put sacke cloth about our loynes, and ropes about our heads, and goe out to the King of Israel: it may be that he will saue thy life.
Entonces sus siervos le dijeron: He aquí, hemos oído de los reyes de la casa de Israel, que son clementes reyes: pongamos pues ahora sacos en nuestros lomos, y sogas en nuestras cabezas, y salgamos al rey de Israel: por ventura te dará la vida.
32 Then they gyrded sackecloth about their loynes, and put ropes about their heads, and came to the King of Israel, and sayd, Thy seruant Ben-hadad sayth, I pray thee, let me liue: and he sayd, Is he yet aliue? he is my brother.
Y ciñeron sus lomos de sacos, y sogas a sus cabezas, y vinieron al rey de Israel, y dijéronle: Tu siervo Ben-adad dice: Ruégote que me des la vida. Y él respondió: Si él aun vive, mi hermano es.
33 Now the men tooke diliget heede, if they could catch any thing of him, and made haste, and sayd, Thy brother Ben-hadad. And he sayd, Go, bring him. So Ben-hadad came out vnto him, and he caused him to come vp vnto the chariot.
Esto tomaron aquellos varones por buen agüero, y tomaron presto esta palabra de su boca, y dijeron: Ben-adad tu hermano. Y él dijo: Id, y traédmele. Y Ben-adad salió a él, y él le hizo subir en un carro:
34 And Ben-hadad sayd vnto him, The cities, which my father tooke from thy father, I wil restore, and thou shalt make streetes for thee in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will let thee goe with this couenant. So he made a couenant with him, and let him goe.
Y él le dijo: Las ciudades que mi padre tomo al tuyo, yo las restituiré; y haz plazas en Damasco para ti, como mi padre las hizo en Samaria: y yo me partiré de ti confederado. Y él hizo con él alianza, y envióle.
35 Then a certaine man of the children of the Prophets sayd vnto his neighbour by the comandement of the Lord, Smite me, I pray thee. But the man refused to smite him.
Entonces un varón de los hijos de los profetas dijo a su compañero por palabra de Dios: Hiéreme ahora. Y él otro varón no le quiso herir.
36 Then sayd he vnto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voyce of the Lord, beholde, as soone as thou art departed from me, a lyon shall slay thee. So when he was departed from him, a lyon found him and slew him.
Y él le dijo: Por cuanto no has obedecido a la palabra de Jehová, he aquí, en apartándote de mí un león te herirá. Y como se apartó de él, topóle un león, y le hirió.
37 Then he founde another man, and sayde, Smite mee, I pray thee. And the man smote him, and in smiting wounded him.
Y él topóse con otro varón, y díjole: Hiéreme ahora. Y el otro hombre le hirió, y dióle una cuchillada.
38 So the Prophet departed, and wayted for the King by the way, and disguised himselfe with ashes vpon his face.
Y se fue el profeta, y púsose delante del rey en el camino, y disfrazóse poniéndose sobre los ojos un velo.
39 And when the King came by, he cried vnto the King, and said, Thy seruant went into the middes of the battel: and beholde, there went away a man, whom another man brought vnto me, and sayd, Keepe this man: if he be lost, and want, thy life shall go for his life, or els thou shalt pay a talent of siluer.
Y como el rey pasaba, él dio voces al rey, y dijo: Tu siervo salió entre el escuadrón, y, he aquí, apartándose uno, trájome a otro, diciendo: Guarda a este hombre; y si él faltare faltando, tu vida será por la suya, o pagarás un talento de plata.
40 And as thy seruant had here and there to do, he was gone: And the King of Israel said vnto him, So shall thy iudgement be: thou hast giuen sentence.
Y como tu siervo, estaba ocupado a una parte y a otra, él desapareció. Entonces el rey de Israel le dijo: Esa será tu sentencia: tú la pronunciaste.
41 And hee hasted, and tooke the ashes away from his face: and the King of Israel knewe him that he was of the Prophets:
Entonces él quitó de presto el velo de sobre sus ojos, y el rey de Israel conoció que era de los profetas.
42 And he said vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Because thou hast let goe out of thine handes a man whom I appoynted to dye, thy life shall goe for his life, and thy people for his people.
Y él le dijo: Así dijo Jehová: Por cuanto soltaste de la mano el varón de mi anatema, tu vida será por la suya, y tu pueblo por el suyo.
43 And the King of Israel went to his house heauie and in displeasure, and came to Samaria.
Y el rey de Israel se fue a su casa triste y enojado: y vino a Samaria.
