1 Kings 2

1 Then the dayes of Dauid drewe neere that he should die, and hee charged Salomon his sonne, saying,

Se acercó el tiempo de la muerte de David; Y dio órdenes a su hijo Salomón, diciendo:

2 I go the way of all the earth: be strong therefore, and shew thy selfe a man,

Voy por el camino de todos en la tierra; sé fuerte y sé hombre.

3 And take heede to the charge of the Lord thy God, to walke in his wayes, and keepe his statutes, and his commandements, and his iudgements, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and in euery thing whereunto thou turnest thee,

Y guarda las órdenes del Señor tu Dios, andando en sus caminos, guardando sus leyes y sus órdenes y sus reglas y sus palabras, tal como están registradas en la ley de Moisés; para que te vaya bien en todo lo que hagas y vayas donde vayas,

4 That the Lord may confirme his worde which hee spake vnto me, saying, If thy sonnes take heede to their way, that they walke before me in trueth, with all their hearts, and with all their soules, thou shalt not (sayd he) want one of thy posteritie vpon the throne of Israel.

Para que el Señor pueda poner en práctica lo que dijo de mí: Si tus hijos prestan atención a sus caminos, viviendo rectamente ante mí con todo su corazón y su alma, nunca estarás sin un hombre para ser rey. En Israel.

5 Thou knowest also what Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captaines of the hostes of Israel, vnto Abner the sonne of Ner, and vnto Amasa the sonne of Iether: whome he slewe, and shed blood of battell in peace, and put the blood of warre vpon his girdle that was about his loynes, and in his shooes that were on his feete.

Ahora que saben lo que Joab, el hijo de Sarvia, me hizo a mí, y los dos capitanes del ejército de Israel, Abner, el hijo de Ner, y Amasa, el hijo de Jeter, a quien condenado a muerte, vengándose de la sangre derramada en tiempos de paz, y poniendo sangre de guerra sobre su cinto y los zapatos de sus pies con la sangre de alguien muerto sin causa.

6 Doe therefore according to thy wisdome, and let thou not his hoare head go downe to the graue in peace. (Sheol h7585)

7 But shew kindnes vnto the sonnes of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among them that eate at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled from Absalom thy brother.

Pero sé bueno con los hijos de Barzilai Galaadita, y que sean invitados a tu mesa; porque así vinieron a mí cuando salí en vuelo de Absalón, tu hermano.

8 And beholde, with thee is Shimei the sonne of Gera, the sonne of Iemini, of Bahurim, which cursed mee with an horrible curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but hee came downe to meete me at Iorden, and I sware to him by the Lord, saying, I will not slay thee with the sword.

Ahora tienes contigo a Simei, el hijo de Gera, de Benjamín de Bahurim, quien me lanzó una amarga maldición el día en que fui a Mahanaim; pero él bajó para verme en el Jordán, y yo le hice mi juramento por el Señor, diciendo: No te mataré a filo de espada.

9 But thou shalt not count him innocent: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to doe vnto him: therefore thou shalt cause his hoare head to goe downe to the graue with blood. (Sheol h7585)

Pero no dejes que sea libre del castigo, porque eres un hombre sabio; y te quedará claro lo que tienes que hacer con él; procura que su cabeza blanca tenga una muerte violenta. (Sheol h7585)

10 So Dauid slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid.

Entonces David fue a descansar con sus padres, y su cuerpo fue enterrado en la ciudad de David.

11 And the dayes which Dauid reigned vpon Israel, were fourtie yeeres: seuen yeeres reigned he in Hebron, and thirtie and three yeeres reigned he in Ierusalem.

David fue rey sobre Israel durante cuarenta años: durante siete años fue rey en Hebrón y durante treinta y tres años en Jerusalén.

12 Then sate Salomon vpon the throne of Dauid his father, and his kingdome was stablished mightily.

Y Salomón tomó su lugar en el trono de David su padre, y su reino se hizo firme y seguro.

13 And Adonijah the sonne of Haggith came to Bath-sheba the mother of Salomon: and she saide, Commest thou peaceably? And hee said, Yea.

Entonces Adonías, el hijo de Haguit, vino a Betsabé, la madre de Salomón. Y ella dijo: ¿vienes en paz? Y él respondió: Sí, en paz.

14 He said moreouer, I haue a sute vnto thee. And she sayd, Say on.

Entonces él dijo: Tengo algo que decirte. Y ella dijo: habla.

15 Then he said, Thou knowest that the kingdome was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reigne: howbeit the kingdome is turned away, and is my brothers: for it came to him by the Lord.

Y él dijo: Viste cómo el reino era mío, y todo Israel tuvo la idea de que yo sería su rey; pero ahora el reino ha cambiado y se ha convertido en el de mi hermano, porque el Señor se lo dio.

16 Nowe therefore I aske thee one request, refuse me not. And she said vnto him, Say on.

Ahora tengo una petición, y no me la niegues: Y ella le dijo: habla.

17 And he sayd, Speake, I pray thee, vnto Salomon ye King, (for he will not say thee nay) that he giue me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.

Entonces dijo: ¿Pídele al rey Salomón porque él no te dirá, No, a ti, y pídele que me dé a Abisag Sunamita como esposa?

18 And Bath-sheba sayd, Well, I will speake for thee vnto the King.

Y Betsabe dijo: ¡Bien! Llevaré tu petición al rey.

19 Bath-sheba therefore went vnto King Salomon, to speake vnto him for Adonijah: and the King rose to meete her, and bowed himselfe vnto her, and sate downe on his throne: and he caused a seate to be set for the Kings mother, and she sate at his right hand.

Entonces Betsabé fue al rey Salomón para hablar con él por cuenta de Adonías. Y el rey se levantó para acercarse a ella, y descendió a la tierra delante de ella; luego se sentó en el asiento del rey y se preparó un asiento para la madre del rey y ella tomó su lugar en su mano derecha.

20 Then she sayd, I desire a small request of thee, say me not nay. Then the King sayde vnto her, Aske on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay.

Entonces ella dijo: Tengo una pequeña petición que hacerte; No me la niegues. Y el rey dijo: Di, madre mía, porque no te lo negaré.

21 She sayd then, Let Abishag the Shunammite be giuen to Adonijah thy brother to wife.

Y ella dijo: Da a Abisag sunamita a Adonías tu hermano por mujer.

22 But King Salomon answered and sayd vnto his mother, And why doest thou aske Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? aske for him the kingdome also: for he is mine elder brother, and hath for him both Abiathar the Priest, and Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah.

Entonces el rey Salomón respondió y dijo a su madre: ¿Por qué me estás pidiendo que le dé a Abisag la sunamita Adonías? falta además, que me pidas que le de reino a él, porque es mi hermano mayor, y Abiatar el sacerdote y Joab, el hijo de Sarvia, están de su lado.

23 Then King Salomon sware by the Lord, saying, God doe so to me and more also, if Adoniiah hath not spoken this worde against his owne life.

Entonces el rey Salomón hizo un juramento por el Señor, diciendo: Que el castigo de Dios sea mío si Adonías no da el pago de estas palabras con su vida.

24 Now therefore as ye Lord liueth, who hath established me, and set me on the throne of Dauid my father, who also hath made me an house, as he promised, Adoniiah shall surely die this day.

Ahora, por el Señor viviente, que me ha dado mi lugar en el asiento de David mi padre, y me ha hecho uno de una línea de reyes, como él me dio su palabra, verdaderamente Adonías será ejecutado hoy mismo.

25 And King Salomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and hee smote him that he dyed.

Y el rey Salomón envió a Benaía, hijo de Joiada, y éste lo atacó y lo mató.

26 Then the King sayd vnto Abiathar the Priest, Go to Anathoth vnto thine owne fieldes: for thou art worthy of death: but I will not this day kill thee, because thou barest the Arke of the Lord God before Dauid my father, and because thou hast suffered in all, wherein my father hath bene afflicted.

Y al sacerdote Abiatar, el rey dijo: Ve a Anatot, a tus campos; porque la muerte sería tu recompensa correcta; pero no te mataré ahora, porque tomaste el cofre del pacto del Señor Dios ante David mi padre, y estabas con él en todas sus angustias.

27 So Salomon cast out Abiathar from being Priest vnto the Lord, that he might fulfill the wordes of the Lord, which he spake against the house of Eli in Shiloh.

Así que Salomón no dejó ser sacerdote más a Abiatar, para que pudiera hacer realidad la palabra del Señor que dijo acerca de los hijos de Elí en Silo.

28 Then tidings came to Ioab: (for Ioab had turned after Adoniiah, but he turned not after Absalom) and Ioab fled vnto the Tabernacle of the Lord, and caught hold on the hornes of the altar.

Y de esto vino a Joab; Joab había sido uno de los partidarios de Adonías, aunque no había estado del lado de Absalón. Entonces Joab se dirigió a la tienda del Señor y se puso las manos en los cuernos del altar.

29 And it was tolde king Salomon, that Ioab was fled vnto the Tabernacle of the Lord, and beholde, he is by the altar. Then Salomon sent Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, saying, Goe, fall vpon him.

Y dijeron al rey Salomón: Joab ha huido a la tienda del Señor y está junto al altar. Entonces Salomón envió a Benaía, el hijo de Joiada, diciendo: Anda, arremete contra él.

30 And Benaiah came to the Tabernacle of the Lord, and sayd vnto him, Thus sayth the King, Come out. And he sayde, Nay, but I will die here. Then Benaiah brought the King worde againe, saying, Thus sayd Ioab, and thus he answered me.

Entonces Benaía vino al santuario del Señor y le dijo: El rey dice: Sal. Y él respondió: No; Pero deja que la muerte venga aquí. Y Benaía volvió al rey y le dio la noticia de la respuesta que Joab había dado.

31 And the King sayde vnto him, Doe as he hath sayd, and smite him, and bury him, that thou mayest take away the blood, which Ioab shed causelesse, from me and from the house of my father.

Y el rey dijo: Haz lo que él ha dicho, matalo y entiérralo; para que puedas borrar de mí y de mi familia la sangre de alguien que Joab ha condenado a muerte sin causa.

32 And the Lord shall bring his blood vpon his owne head: for he smote two men more righteous and better then he, and slew them with the sword, and my father Dauid knew not: to wit, Abner the sonne of Ner, captaine of the hoste of Israel, and Amasa the sonne of Iether captaine of the hoste of Iudah.

Y el Señor devolverá su sangre sobre su cabeza, debido al ataque que hizo a dos hombres más rectos y mejores que él mismo, y los puso a la espada sin el conocimiento de mi padre; incluso Abner, hijo de Ner, capitán del ejército de Israel, y Amasa, hijo de Jeter, capitán del ejército de Judá.

33 Their blood shall therefore returne vpon the head of Ioab, and on the head of his seede for euer: but vpon Dauid, and vpon his seede, and vpon his house, and vpon his throne shall there be peace for euer from the Lord.

Y su sangre estará sobre la cabeza de Joab, y sobre la cabeza de su simiente para siempre; pero para David y su simiente y su familia y la sede de su reino, habrá paz para siempre del Señor.

34 So Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada went vp, and smote him, and slewe him, and he was buryed in his owne house in the wildernesse.

Y subió Benaía, hijo de Joiada, y cayendo sobre él, lo mató; y su cuerpo fue enterrado en el desierto.

35 And the King put Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada in his roume ouer the hoste: and the King set Zadok the Priest in the roume of Abiathar.

Y puso el rey Benaía, hijo de Joiada, en su lugar sobre el ejército; y puso al sacerdote Sadoc en lugar de Abiatar.

36 Afterwarde the King sent, and called Shimei, and sayde vnto him, Buylde thee an house in Ierusalem, and dwell there, and depart not thence any whither.

Entonces el rey mandó llamar a Simei y le dijo: Haz una casa para ti en Jerusalén y no te salgas allí y no vayas a ningún otro lugar.

37 For that day that thou goest out, and passest ouer the riuer of Kidron, knowe assuredly, that thou shalt dye the death: thy blood shall be vpon thine owne head.

Porque ten por seguro que el día en que salgas y pases por el arroyo Cedrón, la muerte te alcanzará: y tu sangre estará en tu cabeza.

38 And Shimei sayd vnto the King, The thing is good: as my lord the King hath sayd, so wil thy seruant doe. So Shimei dwelt in Ierusalem many dayes.

Y Simei dijo al rey: ¡Muy bien! Como mi señor el rey ha dicho, así hará tu siervo. Y durante mucho tiempo Simei siguió viviendo en Jerusalén.

39 And after three yeres two of the seruants of Shimei fled away vnto Achish sonne of Maachah King of Gath: and they tolde Shimei, saying, Behold, thy seruants be in Gath.

Pero después de tres años, dos de los siervos de Simei huyeron a Aquis, hijo de Maaca, rey de Gat. Y se dio palabra a Simei de que sus sirvientes habían ido a Gat.

40 And Shimei arose, and sadled his asse, and went to Gath to Achish, to seeke his seruantes: and Shimei went, and brought his seruants from Gath.

Entonces se levantó Simei y, preparando su asno, fue a Gat, a Aquis, en busca de sus siervos; y los envió y los tomó de Gat.

41 And it was tolde Salomon, that Shimei had gone from Ierusalem to Gath, and was come againe.

Y se le comunicó a Salomón que Simei había ido de Jerusalén a Gat y había vuelto.

42 And the King sent and called Shimei, and sayde vnto him, Did I not make thee to sweare by the Lord, and protested vnto thee, saying, That day that thou goest out, and walkest any whither, knowe assuredly that thou shalt dye the death? And thou saydest vnto mee, The thing is good, that I haue heard.

Entonces el rey mandó llamar a Simei y le dijo: ¿No te hice jurar por el Señor, y te advertí diciendo: Asegúrate de que el día en que salgas de aquí, dondequiera que vayas? la muerte te alcanzará? y me dijiste, muy bien!

43 Why then hast thou not kept the othe of the Lord, and the commandement wherewith I charged thee?

¿Por qué, pues, no has guardado el juramento del Señor y la orden que yo te di?

44 The King sayde also to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickednes whereunto thine heart is priuie, that thou diddest to Dauid my father: the Lord therefore shall bring thy wickednesse vpon thine owne head.

Y el rey dijo a Simei: Tú conoces todo el mal que le hiciste a mi padre David; y ahora el Señor te ha devuelto tu maldad.

45 And let King Salomon be blessed, and the throne of Dauid stablished before the Lord for euer.

Pero habrá una bendición sobre el rey Salomón, y el reino de David mantendrá su lugar ante el Señor para siempre.

46 So the King comanded Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada: who went out and smote him that he dyed. And the kingdome was established in the hand of Salomon.

Entonces el rey dio órdenes a Benaía, hijo de Joiada; Salió y, cayendo sobre él, lo mató. Y se confirmó la autoridad de Salomón sobre él reino.
