1 Kings 17
1 And Eliiah the Tishbite one of the inhabitats of Gilead sayde vnto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liueth, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dewe nor rayne these yeeres, but according to my worde.
És szólt a Tiabébeli Élijáhú, Gileád lakosai közül, Achábhoz: Él az Örökkévaló, Izraél Istene, aki előtt állottam, nem lesz ez években sem harmat, sem eső, hacsak nem igém szerint.
2 And the worde of the Lord came vnto him, saying,
És lett hozzája az Örökkévaló igéje, mondván:
3 Go hence, and turne thee Eastwarde, and hide thy selfe in the riuer Cherith, that is ouer against Iorden,
Menj el innen, fordulj keletnek és rejtőzzél el a Kerít patakjánál, mely a Jordán felől van.
4 And thou shalt drinke of the riuer: and I haue comanded the rauens to feede thee there.
És lészen, a patakból fogsz inni, a hollóknak pedig megparancsoltam, hogy ott téged tápláljanak.
5 So he went and did according vnto the word of the Lord: for he went, and remained by the riuer Cherith that is ouer against Iorden.
Elment és tett az Örökkévaló igéje szerint; elment és letelepedett a Kerít patakjánál, a mely a Jordán felől van.
6 And the rauens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the euening, and he dranke of the riuer.
A hollók pedig vittek neki kenyeret éa húst reggel, meg kenyeret és húst este, és a patakhól ivott.
7 And after a while the riuer dryed vp, because there fell no rayne vpon the earth.
És volt napok multán, kiszáradt a patak, mert nem volt eső az országban.
8 And the worde of the Lord came vnto him, saying,
Ekkor lett hozzá az Örökkévaló igéje, mondván:
9 Vp, and get thee to Zarephath, which is in Zidon, and remaine there: beholde, I haue commanded a widow there to sustaine thee.
Kelj föl, menj Cárefátba, mely Cídóné, és maradj ott: íme megparancsoltam ott egy özvegyasszonynak, hogy téged tápláljon.
10 So he arose, and went to Zarephath: and when he came to the gate of the citie, beholde, the widowe was there gathering stickes: and he called her, and sayde, Bring me, I pray thee, a litle water in a vessel, that I may drinke.
Fölkelt és elment Cárefátba s midőn a város bejáratához ért, íme egy özvegy asszony ott fát szedegetett; megszólította és mondta: Hozz nekem, kérlek, az edényben egy kis vizet, hogy igyam.
11 And as she was going to fet it, he called to her, and sayde, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsell of bread in thine hand.
Elment, hogy hozza; akkor szólította és mondta: Hozz nekem, kérlek, kezedben egy darab kenyeret.
12 And shee sayde, As the Lord thy God liueth, I haue not a cake, but euen an handfull of meale in a barrel, and a litle oyle in a cruse: and behold, I am gathering a fewe stickes for to go in, and dresse it for me and my sonne, that we may eate it, and dye.
Mondta: Él az Örökkévaló, a te Istened, nincsen nekem süteményem, hanem csak egy maroknyi liszt van a vékámban és egy kevés olaj a korsóban; s íme szedegetek két darab fát, hogy lemenjek és elkészítsem a magam és fiam számára, majd megesszük és meghalunk.
13 And Eliiah said vnto her, Feare not, come, do as thou hast sayd, but make me thereof a litle cake first of all, and bring it vnto mee, and afterward make for thee, and thy sonne.
Erre szólt hozzá Élijáhú: Ne félj, menj be, tégy szavad szerint, csakhogy előbb készíts abból számomra egy kis süteményt és hozd ki nekem; a magad és fiad számára készíts utóbb.
14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The meale in the barrel shall not be wasted, neither shall the oyle in the cruse be diminished, vnto the time that the Lord send rayne vpon the earth.
Mert így szól az Örökkévaló, Izraél Istene: A lisztes véka nem fogy ki és az olajas korsó nem apad meg mindaddig, míg az Örökkévaló esőt nem ad a föld színére.
15 So she went, and did as Eliiah sayd, and she did eate: so did he and her house for a certaine time.
Ment tehát és tett Élijáhú szava szerint és evett ő is, amaz is és háza is jó ideig.
16 The barrell of the meale wasted not, nor the oyle was spent out of the cruse, according to the worde of the Lord, which he spake by the hand of Eliiah.
A lisztes véka nem fogyott ki s az olajos korsó nem apadt meg az Örökkévaló szava szerint, melyet szólt Élijáhú által.
17 And after these things, the sonne of the wife of the house fell sicke, and his sicknesse was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.
És volt e dolgok után, beteg lett a nőnek, a ház asszonyának fia; igen súlyos volt a betegsége, úgy, hogy nem maradt benne lélek.
18 And she said vnto Eliiah, What haue I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come vnto me to call my sinne to remembrance, and to slay my sonne?
Ekkor szólt Élijáhúhoz: Mi közöm hozzád, Isten embere? Azért jöttél hozzám, hogy emlékezetembe hozzad bűnömet és megöljed fiamat?
19 And he said vnto her, Giue me thy sonne. and he tooke him out of her bosome, and caryed him vp into a chamber, where he abode, and laid him vpon his owne bed.
Szólt hozzá: Add ide a fiadat! Elvette az öléből, fölvitte az emeleti szobába, ahol ő lakott és ágyára fektette.
20 Then he called vnto the Lord, and sayde, O Lord my God, hast thou punished also this widowe, with whome I soiourne, by killing her sonne?
És kiáltott az Örökkévalóhoz és mondta: Örökkévaló, én Istenem, vajon az özveggyel is, kinél tartózkodom, rosszul bánsz, megölvén a fiát?
21 And he stretched himselfe vpon the childe three times, and called vnto the Lord, and saide, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this childes soule come into him againe.
Ekkor háromszor rányújtózkodott a gyermekre, kiáltott az Örökkévalóhoz és mondta: Örökkévaló, én Istenem, térjen vissza, kérlek, e gyermek lelke ő beléje!
22 Then the Lord heard the voyce of Eliiah, and the soule of the child came into him againe, and he reuiued.
És hallgatott az Örökkévaló Élijáhú szavára; visszatért a gyermek lelke ő beléje és föléledt.
23 And Eliiah tooke the childe, and brought him downe out of the chamber into the house, and deliuered him vnto his mother, and Eliiah sayd, Behold, thy sonne liueth.
Ekkor vette Élijáhú a gyermeket, levitte az emeletről a házba és átadta anyjának; mondta Élijáhú: Lásd, él a te fiad!
24 And the woman saide vnto Eliiah, Now I knowe that thou art a man of God, and that the worde of the Lord in thy mouth is true.
Erre az asszony így szólt Élijáhúhoz: Most már tudom, hogy Isten embere vagy és az Örökkévaló igéje a szádban igazság.
