1 Kings 14

1 At that time Abiiah the sonne of Ieroboam fell sicke.

IN quel tempo Abia, figliuolo di Geroboamo, infermò.

2 And Ieroboam saide vnto his wife, Vp, I pray thee, and disguise thy selfe, that they know not that thou art the wife of Ieroboam, and goe to Shiloh: for there is Ahiiah the Prophet, which tolde mee that I shoulde bee King ouer this people,

E Geroboamo disse alla sua moglie: Deh! levati, e travestiti, in modo che non si conosca che tu [sei] moglie di Geroboamo, e vattene in Silo; ecco, quivi [è] il profeta Ahia, il qual mi predisse [che io sarei] re sopra questo popolo.

3 And take with thee tenne loaues and craknels, and a bottell of honie, and go to him: hee shall tell thee what shall become of the yong man.

E prendi in mano dieci pani, e de' boccellati, ed un fiasco di miele, e vattene a lui; egli ti dichiarerà ciò che avverrà al fanciullo.

4 And Ieroboams wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahiiah: but Ahiiah could not see, for his sight was decayed for his age.

E la moglie di Geroboamo fece così; e si levò, e andò in Silo, ed entrò in casa d'Ahia. Or Ahia non poteva [più] vedere; perciocchè la vista gli era venuta meno per la vecchiezza.

5 Then the Lord saide vnto Ahiiah, Beholde, the wife of Ieroboam commeth to aske a thing of thee for her sonne, for he is sicke: thus and thus shalt thou say vnto her: for when shee commeth in, shee shall feine her selfe to be another.

E il Signore disse ad Ahia: Ecco, la moglie di Geroboamo viene per domandarti del suo figliuolo; perciocchè egli [è] infermo; parlale in tale e tale maniera. Ora, quando ella entrerà, ella fingerà d'essere un'altra.

6 Therefore when Ahiiah heard the sounde of her feete as shee came in at the doore, hee saide, Come in, thou wife of Ieroboam: why feinest thou thus thy selfe to bee an other? I am sent to thee with heauie tidings.

Come dunque Ahia udì il suon de' piedi di essa, ch'entrava per la porta, disse: Entra pure, moglie di Geroboamo; perchè fingi d'essere un'altra? io son pur mandato a te [per portarti] un duro [messaggio].

7 Goe, tel Ieroboam, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Forasmuch as I haue exalted thee from among the people, and haue made thee prince ouer my people Israel,

Va', di' a Geroboamo: Così ha detto il Signore Iddio d'Israele: Perciocchè, avendoti io innalzato d'infra il popolo, e costituito conduttore sopra il mio popolo Israele;

8 And haue rent the kingdome away from the house of Dauid, and haue giuen it thee, and thou hast not bene as my seruant Dauid, which kept my commandements, and followed mee with all his heart, and did onely that which was right in mine eyes,

ed avendo lacerato il regno [d'infra le mani] della casa di Davide, ed avendolo dato a te; tu non sei stato come il mio servitore Davide, il quale osservò i miei comandamenti, e camminò dietro a me con tutto il suo cuore, per far sol ciò che mi piace;

9 But hast done euil aboue al that were before thee (for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to prouoke me, and hast cast me behinde thy backe)

ed hai fatto peggio che tutti coloro che sono stati davanti a te, e sei andato, e ti sei fatti degli altri dii, e delle statue di getto, per dispettarmi; ed hai gittato me dietro alle spalle;

10 Therefore beholde, I will bring euill vpon the house of Ieroboam, and will cut off from Ieroboam him that pisseth against the wall, aswell him that is shut vp, as him that is left in Israel, and will sweepe away the remnant of the house of Ieroboam, as a man sweepeth away doung, till it be all gone.

per questo, ecco, io fo venire un male sopra la casa di Geroboamo, e distruggerò a Geroboamo [fino] al piccolo fanciullo, chi è serrato e chi è lasciato in Israele; e andrò dietro alla casa di Geroboamo, per ispazzarla via, come si spazza lo sterco; finchè sia tutta consumata.

11 The dogges shall eate him of Ieroboams stocke that dyeth in the citie, and the foules of the aire shall eate him that dyeth in the fielde: for the Lord hath said it.

Colui che sarà morto a Geroboamo dentro alla città, i cani lo mangeranno; e colui che sarà morto per la campagna, gli uccelli del cielo lo mangeranno; perciocchè il Signore ha parlato.

12 Vp therefore and get thee to thine house: for when thy feete enter into the citie, the childe shall die.

Or tu, levati, vattene a casa tua; in quello stante che i tuoi piedi entreranno nella città, il fanciullo morrà.

13 And al Israel shall mourne for him, and burie him: for he onely of Ieroboam shall come to the graue, because in him there is found some goodnes towarde the Lord God of Israel in the house of Ieroboam.

E tutto Israele farà cordoglio di lui, e lo seppellirà; perciocchè costui solo, d'infra [quelli che appartengono a] Geroboamo, entrerà nel sepolcro; conciossiachè in lui [solo], della casa di Geroboamo, sia stato trovato alcun bene appo il Signore Iddio d'Israele.

14 Moreouer, the Lord shall stirre him vp a King ouer Israel, which shall destroy the house of Ieroboam in that day: what? yea, euen nowe.

E il Signore si costituirà un re sopra Israele, il qual distruggerà la casa di Geroboamo in quel dì. E che? anzi pure or ora.

15 For the Lord shall smite Israel, as when a reede is shaken in the water, and hee shall weede Israel out of his good lad, which he gaue to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the Riuer, because they haue made them groues, prouoking the Lord to anger.

E il Signore percoterà Israele, [sì che sarà] come la canna che è dimenata nell'acqua; e divellerà Israele d'in su questa buona terra ch'egli ha data a' lor padri, e li dispergerà di là dal Fiume; perciocchè hanno fatti i lor boschi, dispettando il Signore.

16 And he shall giue Israel vp, because of the sinnes of Ieroboam, who did sinne, and made Israel to sinne.

E darà Israele [in man de' suoi nemici], per cagion de' peccati di Geroboamo, i quali egli ha commessi, ed ha fatti commettere a Israele.

17 And Ieroboams wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah, and when shee came to the threshold of the house, the yong man dyed,

E la moglie di Geroboamo si levò, e se ne andò, e venne in Tirsa; e nell'istante ch'ella mise il piè in su la soglia della casa, il fanciullo morì.

18 And they buried him, and all Israel lamented him; according to the word of the Lord, which hee spake by the hand of his seruant Ahiiah the Prophet.

E fu seppellito, e tutto Israele ne fece duolo, secondo la parola del Signore, ch'egli avea pronunziata per lo profeta Ahia suo servitore.

19 And the rest of Ieroboams actes, how hee warred, and howe hee reigned, beholde, they are written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

Ora, quant'è al rimanente de' fatti di Gerobaomo, le guerre ch'egli fece, e come regnò; ecco, queste cose [sono] scritte nel Libro delle Croniche dei re d'Israele.

20 And the dayes which Ieroboam reigned, were two and twentie yeere: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his sonne reigned in his steade.

E il tempo che Geroboamo regnò, [fu] di ventidue anni; poi giacque co' suoi padri; e Nadab, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.

21 Also Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon reigned in Iudah. Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yere in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord did chuse out of al the tribes of Israel, to put his Name there: and his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonite.

OR Roboamo, figliuolo di Salomone, regnava in Giuda; egli era di età di quarantun anno, quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò diciassette anni in Gerusalemme, città, la quale il Signore avea eletta d'infra tutte le tribù d'Israele, per mettervi il suo nome. E il nome di sua madre [era] Naama Ammonita.

22 And Iudah wrought wickednesse in the sight of the Lord: and they prouoked him more with their sinnes, which they had committed, then all that which their fathers had done.

E Giuda fece anch'egli ciò che dispiace al Signore, e lo provocò a gelosia, più che non aveano fatto i suoi padri, con tutti i lor peccati, che aveano commessi.

23 For they also made them hie places, and images, and groues on euery hie hill, and vnder euery greene tree.

E si edificarono anch'essi degli alti luoghi, e [si fecero] delle statue, e de' boschi, sopra ogni alto colle, e sotto ogni albero verdeggiante.

24 There were also Sodomites in the lande, they did according to all the abominations of the nations, which the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.

V'erano eziandio de' cinedi nel paese. Essi fecero secondo tutti i fatti abbominevoli delle genti, le quali il Signore avea scacciate d'innanzi a' figliuoli d'Israele.

25 And in the fift yere of King Rehoboam, Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusale,

Ed avvenne, l'anno quinto del re Roboamo, che Sisac, re di Egitto, salì contro a Gerusalemme;

26 And tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house, and tooke away all: also he caried away all the shields of golde which Salomon had made.

e prese i tesori della Casa del Signore, ed i tesori della casa reale; prese ogni cosa; prese ancora tutti gli scudi d'oro che Salomone avea fatti.

27 And King Rehoboam made for them brasen shieldes, and committed them vnto ye hands of the chiefe of the garde, which wayted at the doore of the Kings house.

E il re Roboamo fece, in luogo di quelli, degli scudi di rame, e li rimise nelle mani de' capitani de' sergenti, che facevano la guardia alla porta della casa reale.

28 And when the King went into the house of the Lord, the garde bare them, and brought them againe into the gard chamber.

E quando il re entrava nella Casa del Signore, i sergenti li portavano; e poi li riportavano nella loggia de' sergenti.

29 And the rest of the actes of Rehoboam, and all that hee did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?

Ora, quant'è al rimanente de' fatti di Roboamo, e tutto ciò ch'egli fece; queste cose non [sono] esse scritte nel Libro delle Croniche dei re di Giuda?

30 And there was warre betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam continually.

Ora vi fu del continuo guerra fra Roboamo e Geroboamo.

31 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid: his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonite. And Abiiam his sonne reigned in his stead.

E Roboamo giacque co' suoi padri, e fu seppellito con essi nella Città di Davide. E il nome di sua madre [era] Naama Ammonita. Ed Abiam, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.
