1 Kings 14
1 At that time Abiiah the sonne of Ieroboam fell sicke.
Dans le même temps Abia, fils de Jéroboam, était malade.
2 And Ieroboam saide vnto his wife, Vp, I pray thee, and disguise thy selfe, that they know not that thou art the wife of Ieroboam, and goe to Shiloh: for there is Ahiiah the Prophet, which tolde mee that I shoulde bee King ouer this people,
Et Jéroboam dit à sa femme: Lève-toi donc et te travestis, de sorte qu'on ne se doute pas que tu es la femme de Jéroboam, et va-t'en à Silo! Voici, là est Ahia, le prophète, qui m'a annoncé que je deviendrais le roi de ce peuple.
3 And take with thee tenne loaues and craknels, and a bottell of honie, and go to him: hee shall tell thee what shall become of the yong man.
Et prends dans ta main dix pains et des gâteaux et une cruche de miel, et entre chez lui: il te révélera ce qui arrivera à l'enfant.
4 And Ieroboams wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahiiah: but Ahiiah could not see, for his sight was decayed for his age.
Et ainsi fit la femme de Jéroboam, et s'étant levée elle se rendit à Silo chez Ahia. Or Ahia avait perdu la vue, car l'âge rendait ses yeux obtus.
5 Then the Lord saide vnto Ahiiah, Beholde, the wife of Ieroboam commeth to aske a thing of thee for her sonne, for he is sicke: thus and thus shalt thou say vnto her: for when shee commeth in, shee shall feine her selfe to be another.
Et l'Éternel avait dit à Ahia: Voici que la femme de Jéroboam vient pour requérir de toi un avis touchant son fils, parce qu'il est malade: tu lui parleras de telle et telle manière, et quand elle paraîtra, elle ne voudra pas être reconnue.
6 Therefore when Ahiiah heard the sounde of her feete as shee came in at the doore, hee saide, Come in, thou wife of Ieroboam: why feinest thou thus thy selfe to bee an other? I am sent to thee with heauie tidings.
Et lorsque Ahia entendit le bruit de ses pas, comme elle entrait dans la porte, il dit: Entre, femme de Jéroboam! pourquoi donc ne veux-tu pas être connue? Pour moi, j'ai pour toi un message sévère.
7 Goe, tel Ieroboam, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Forasmuch as I haue exalted thee from among the people, and haue made thee prince ouer my people Israel,
Va, dis à Jéroboam: Ainsi parle l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël: Parce que je t'ai élevé du sein du peuple, et établi prince de mon peuple d'Israël,
8 And haue rent the kingdome away from the house of Dauid, and haue giuen it thee, and thou hast not bene as my seruant Dauid, which kept my commandements, and followed mee with all his heart, and did onely that which was right in mine eyes,
et que j'ai détaché le royaume de la maison de David et te l'ai donné, mais que tu n'as pas imité mon serviteur David qui a gardé mes commandements et m'a suivi de tout son cœur pour ne faire que ce qui est droit à mes yeux,
9 But hast done euil aboue al that were before thee (for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to prouoke me, and hast cast me behinde thy backe)
et parce que tu as fait pis que tous tes prédécesseurs, et que tu t'en es allé et t'es fait d'autres dieux et des images de fonte pour me provoquer et que tu m'as jeté en arrière de toi;
10 Therefore beholde, I will bring euill vpon the house of Ieroboam, and will cut off from Ieroboam him that pisseth against the wall, aswell him that is shut vp, as him that is left in Israel, and will sweepe away the remnant of the house of Ieroboam, as a man sweepeth away doung, till it be all gone.
cela étant, voici je vais amener la calamité sur la maison de Jéroboam et j'arracherai à Jéroboam ceux qui pissent à la muraille, le mineur et l'émancipé en Israël, et je balaierai après la maison de Jéroboam comme on balaie les ordures, à fond.
11 The dogges shall eate him of Ieroboams stocke that dyeth in the citie, and the foules of the aire shall eate him that dyeth in the fielde: for the Lord hath said it.
Ceux qui mourront à Jéroboam dans la ville, seront mangés par les chiens, et ceux qui mourront dans la campagne, seront mangés par les oiseaux du ciel; car l'Éternel a parlé.
12 Vp therefore and get thee to thine house: for when thy feete enter into the citie, the childe shall die.
Quant à toi, lève-toi et regagne ta maison! comme tu mettras le pied dans la ville, l'enfant mourra.
13 And al Israel shall mourne for him, and burie him: for he onely of Ieroboam shall come to the graue, because in him there is found some goodnes towarde the Lord God of Israel in the house of Ieroboam.
Et tout Israël célébrera son deuil et lui donnera la sépulture, car seul de ceux de Jéroboam il recevra la sépulture, parce qu'il s'est trouvé en lui pour l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, quelque chose de bon dans la maison de Jéroboam.
14 Moreouer, the Lord shall stirre him vp a King ouer Israel, which shall destroy the house of Ieroboam in that day: what? yea, euen nowe.
Et l'Éternel se suscitera un roi dans Israël qui extirpera la maison de Jéroboam, née aujourd'hui et à naître encore.
15 For the Lord shall smite Israel, as when a reede is shaken in the water, and hee shall weede Israel out of his good lad, which he gaue to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the Riuer, because they haue made them groues, prouoking the Lord to anger.
Et l'Éternel frappera Israël [à le faire branler] comme branle le jonc dans les eaux, et arrachera Israël de ce sol excellent qu'il avait donné à leurs pères, et les dispersera par delà le Fleuve, parce qu'ils se sont fait des Astartés, provoquant l'Éternel.
16 And he shall giue Israel vp, because of the sinnes of Ieroboam, who did sinne, and made Israel to sinne.
Et il livrera Israël pour les péchés de Jéroboam, dont il s'est rendu coupable et où il a entraîné Israël.
17 And Ieroboams wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah, and when shee came to the threshold of the house, the yong man dyed,
Et la femme de Jéroboam se leva et partit, et gagna Thirtsa; comme elle atteignit le seuil de la maison, l'enfant mourut.
18 And they buried him, and all Israel lamented him; according to the word of the Lord, which hee spake by the hand of his seruant Ahiiah the Prophet.
Et tout Israël lui donna la sépulture et célébra son deuil, selon la parole de l'Éternel qu'il avait dite par l'organe de son serviteur Ahia, le prophète.
19 And the rest of Ieroboams actes, how hee warred, and howe hee reigned, beholde, they are written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
Le reste des actes de Jéroboam, ses guerres et son règne sont d'ailleurs consignés dans le livre des annales des rois d'Israël.
20 And the dayes which Ieroboam reigned, were two and twentie yeere: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his sonne reigned in his steade.
Et la durée du règne de Jéroboam fut de vingt-deux ans, et il reposa à côté de ses pères, et Nadab, son fils, régna en sa place.
21 Also Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon reigned in Iudah. Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yere in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord did chuse out of al the tribes of Israel, to put his Name there: and his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonite.
Et Roboam, fils de Salomon, régna sur Juda. Roboam, à son avènement, avait quarante-un ans, et il régna dix-sept ans à Jérusalem, la ville que l'Éternel avait choisie pour y placer son Nom, de préférence à toutes les Tribus d'Israël. Or le nom de sa mère était Naama, l'Ammonite.
22 And Iudah wrought wickednesse in the sight of the Lord: and they prouoked him more with their sinnes, which they had committed, then all that which their fathers had done.
Et Juda fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, et ils L'irritèrent plus que tout ce qu'avaient fait leurs pères par les péchés dont ils s'étaient rendus coupables.
23 For they also made them hie places, and images, and groues on euery hie hill, and vnder euery greene tree.
Et ils se bâtirent, eux aussi, des tertres et des colonnes et des Astartés et des Aschères sur toute colline éminente et sous tout arbre verdoyant.
24 There were also Sodomites in the lande, they did according to all the abominations of the nations, which the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.
Il y avait aussi des prostitués dans le pays; ils imitèrent toutes les infamies des nations que l'Éternel avait chassées devant les enfants d'Israël.
25 And in the fift yere of King Rehoboam, Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusale,
Et la cinquième année du règne de Roboam, il arriva que Sisac, roi d'Egypte, s'avança contre Jérusalem.
26 And tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house, and tooke away all: also he caried away all the shields of golde which Salomon had made.
Et il enleva les Trésors du Temple de l'Éternel et les trésors du palais royal, et il enleva tout et enleva tous les boucliers d'or qu'avait faits Salomon.
27 And King Rehoboam made for them brasen shieldes, and committed them vnto ye hands of the chiefe of the garde, which wayted at the doore of the Kings house.
Et pour les remplacer le roi Roboam fit des boucliers d'airain et il les commit aux soins des chefs des coureurs qui gardaient la porte du palais du Roi.
28 And when the King went into the house of the Lord, the garde bare them, and brought them againe into the gard chamber.
Et toutes les fois que le Roi venait au temple de l'Éternel, les coureurs les portaient; puis ils les rapportaient dans la salle des coureurs.
29 And the rest of the actes of Rehoboam, and all that hee did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
Or le reste des actes de Roboam et tout ce qu'il fit, est d'ailleurs consigné dans le livre des annales des rois de Juda.
30 And there was warre betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam continually.
Et il y eut toujours guerre entre Roboam et Jéroboam.
31 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid: his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonite. And Abiiam his sonne reigned in his stead.
Et Roboam reposa à côté de ses pères et reçut la sépulture avec ses pères dans la ville de David. Or le nom de sa mère était Naama, l'Ammonite. Et Abiam, son fils, régna en sa place.
