1 Kings 14
1 At that time Abiiah the sonne of Ieroboam fell sicke.
Dans ce temps-là, Abia, fils de Jéroboam, était devenu malade.
2 And Ieroboam saide vnto his wife, Vp, I pray thee, and disguise thy selfe, that they know not that thou art the wife of Ieroboam, and goe to Shiloh: for there is Ahiiah the Prophet, which tolde mee that I shoulde bee King ouer this people,
Jéroboam dit à sa femme: « Lève-toi, je te prie, et déguise-toi pour qu’on ne sache pas que tu es la femme de Jéroboam, et va à Silo. Voici que là se trouve Ahias, le prophète, celui qui m’a dit que je serais roi sur ce peuple.
3 And take with thee tenne loaues and craknels, and a bottell of honie, and go to him: hee shall tell thee what shall become of the yong man.
Prends avec toi dix pains, des gâteaux et un vase de miel, et entre chez lui: il te dira ce qui doit arriver à l’enfant. »
4 And Ieroboams wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahiiah: but Ahiiah could not see, for his sight was decayed for his age.
La femme de Jéroboam fit ainsi; s’étant levée, elle alla à Silo et entra dans la maison d’Ahias. Or Ahias ne pouvait plus voir, parce que la vieillesse avait obscurci ses yeux.
5 Then the Lord saide vnto Ahiiah, Beholde, the wife of Ieroboam commeth to aske a thing of thee for her sonne, for he is sicke: thus and thus shalt thou say vnto her: for when shee commeth in, shee shall feine her selfe to be another.
Yahweh avait dit à Ahias: « Voici que la femme de Jéroboam vient pour obtenir de toi une parole au sujet de son fils, qui est malade; tu lui parleras de telle et telle manière. Quand elle arrivera, elle se donnera pour une autre.
6 Therefore when Ahiiah heard the sounde of her feete as shee came in at the doore, hee saide, Come in, thou wife of Ieroboam: why feinest thou thus thy selfe to bee an other? I am sent to thee with heauie tidings.
Quand Ahias entendit le bruit de ses pas, au moment où elle franchissait la porte, il dit: « Entre, femme de Jéroboam; pourquoi te donnes-tu pour une autre? Je suis chargé pour toi d’un dur message.
7 Goe, tel Ieroboam, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Forasmuch as I haue exalted thee from among the people, and haue made thee prince ouer my people Israel,
Va, dis à Jéroboam: Ainsi parle Yahweh, Dieu d’Israël: Je t’ai élevé du milieu du peuple et je t’ai établi chef sur mon peuple d’Israël;
8 And haue rent the kingdome away from the house of Dauid, and haue giuen it thee, and thou hast not bene as my seruant Dauid, which kept my commandements, and followed mee with all his heart, and did onely that which was right in mine eyes,
j’ai arraché le royaume de la maison de David, et je te l’ai donné; mais tu n’as pas été comme mon serviteur David, qui a observé mes commandements et marché après moi de tout son cœur, ne faisant que ce qui est droit à mes yeux;
9 But hast done euil aboue al that were before thee (for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to prouoke me, and hast cast me behinde thy backe)
mais tu as fait le mal plus que tous ceux qui ont été avant toi, tu es allé te faire d’autres dieux et des images de fonte pour m’irriter, et tu m’as rejeté derrière ton dos!
10 Therefore beholde, I will bring euill vpon the house of Ieroboam, and will cut off from Ieroboam him that pisseth against the wall, aswell him that is shut vp, as him that is left in Israel, and will sweepe away the remnant of the house of Ieroboam, as a man sweepeth away doung, till it be all gone.
C’est pourquoi voici que je vais faire venir le malheur sur la maison de Jéroboam; j’exterminerai tout mâle appartenant à Jéroboam, celui qui est esclave et celui qui est libre en Israël, et je balaierai la maison de Jéroboam, comme on balaie l’ordure, jusqu’à ce qu’il n’en reste plus.
11 The dogges shall eate him of Ieroboams stocke that dyeth in the citie, and the foules of the aire shall eate him that dyeth in the fielde: for the Lord hath said it.
Celui de la maison de Jéroboam qui mourra dans la ville sera mangé par les chiens, et celui qui mourra dans les champs sera mangé par les oiseaux du ciel: car Yahweh a parlé.
12 Vp therefore and get thee to thine house: for when thy feete enter into the citie, the childe shall die.
Et toi, lève-toi, va dans ta maison; dès que tes pieds entreront dans la ville, l’enfant mourra.
13 And al Israel shall mourne for him, and burie him: for he onely of Ieroboam shall come to the graue, because in him there is found some goodnes towarde the Lord God of Israel in the house of Ieroboam.
Tout Israël le pleurera, et on l’enterrera car il est le seul de la maison de Jéroboam qui sera mis dans un sépulcre, parce qu’il est le seul de la maison de Jéroboam en qui se soit trouvé quelque chose de bon devant Yahweh, le Dieu d’Israël.
14 Moreouer, the Lord shall stirre him vp a King ouer Israel, which shall destroy the house of Ieroboam in that day: what? yea, euen nowe.
Yahweh établira sur Israël un roi qui exterminera la maison de Jéroboam ce jour-là. Mais quoi? Déjà la chose arrive!
15 For the Lord shall smite Israel, as when a reede is shaken in the water, and hee shall weede Israel out of his good lad, which he gaue to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the Riuer, because they haue made them groues, prouoking the Lord to anger.
Yahweh frappera Israël, comme le roseau est agité au sein des eaux; il arrachera Israël de ce bon pays qu’il avait donné à leurs pères, et il les dispersera de l’autre côté du fleuve, parce qu’ils se sont fait des aschérahs, irritant Yahweh.
16 And he shall giue Israel vp, because of the sinnes of Ieroboam, who did sinne, and made Israel to sinne.
Il livrera Israël à cause des péchés de Jéroboam qu’il a commis et qu’il a fait commettre à Israël. »
17 And Ieroboams wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah, and when shee came to the threshold of the house, the yong man dyed,
La femme de Jéroboam se leva et, s’étant mise en route, elle arriva à Thersa. Comme elle franchissait le seuil de la maison, l’enfant mourut.
18 And they buried him, and all Israel lamented him; according to the word of the Lord, which hee spake by the hand of his seruant Ahiiah the Prophet.
On l’enterrera, et tout Israël le pleura, selon la parole que Yahweh avait dite par l’organe de son serviteur Ahias, le prophète.
19 And the rest of Ieroboams actes, how hee warred, and howe hee reigned, beholde, they are written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
Le reste des actes de Jéroboam, comment il fit la guerre et comment il régna, voici que cela est écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d’Israël.
20 And the dayes which Ieroboam reigned, were two and twentie yeere: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his sonne reigned in his steade.
Le temps que régna Jéroboam fut de vingt-deux ans, et il se coucha avec ses pères. Nadab, son fils, régna à sa place.
21 Also Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon reigned in Iudah. Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yere in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord did chuse out of al the tribes of Israel, to put his Name there: and his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonite.
Roboam, fils de Salomon, régna en Juda. Il avait quarante et un ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna dix-sept ans à Jérusalem, la ville que Yahweh avait choisie parmi toutes les tribus d’Israël pour y mettre son nom. Sa mère s’appelait Naama, l’Ammonite.
22 And Iudah wrought wickednesse in the sight of the Lord: and they prouoked him more with their sinnes, which they had committed, then all that which their fathers had done.
Juda fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh et, par les péchés qu’ils commirent, ils excitèrent sa jalousie plus que ne l’avaient fait leurs pères.
23 For they also made them hie places, and images, and groues on euery hie hill, and vnder euery greene tree.
Ils se bâtirent, eux aussi, des hauts lieux avec des stèles et des aschérahs, sur toute colline élevée et sous tout arbre vert.
24 There were also Sodomites in the lande, they did according to all the abominations of the nations, which the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.
Il y eut même des prostitués dans le pays. Ils agirent selon toutes les abominations des nations que Yahweh avait chassées devant les enfants d’Israël.
25 And in the fift yere of King Rehoboam, Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusale,
La cinquième année du règne de Roboam, Sésac, roi d’Égypte, monta contre Jérusalem.
26 And tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house, and tooke away all: also he caried away all the shields of golde which Salomon had made.
Il prit les trésors de la maison de Yahweh et les trésors de la maison du roi: il prit tout. Il prit tous les boucliers d’or que Salomon avait faits.
27 And King Rehoboam made for them brasen shieldes, and committed them vnto ye hands of the chiefe of the garde, which wayted at the doore of the Kings house.
À leur place, le roi Roboam fit des boucliers d’airain, et il les remit aux mains des chefs des coureurs qui gardaient l’entrée de la maison du roi.
28 And when the King went into the house of the Lord, the garde bare them, and brought them againe into the gard chamber.
Chaque fois que le roi allait à la maison de Yahweh, les coureurs les portaient; et ils les rapportaient ensuite dans la chambre des coureurs.
29 And the rest of the actes of Rehoboam, and all that hee did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
Le reste des actes de Roboam, et tout ce qu’il a fait, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
30 And there was warre betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam continually.
Il y eut toujours guerre entre Roboam et Jéroboam.
31 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid: his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonite. And Abiiam his sonne reigned in his stead.
Roboam se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David. Sa mère s’appelait Naama, l’Ammonite; et Abiam, son fils, régna à sa place.
