1 Kings 13
1 And beholde, there came a man of God out of Iudah (by the commandement of the Lord) vnto Beth-el, and Ieroboam stoode by the altar to offer incense.
Et voici, un homme de Dieu vint de Juda à Bethel avec la parole de l'Eternel, lorsque Jéroboam se tenait près de l'autel pour y faire des encensements.
2 And he cryed against the altar by the comandement of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord, Beholde, a child shalbe borne vnto the house of Dauid, Iosiah by name, and vpon thee shall he sacrifice the Priestes of the hie places that burne incense vpon thee, and they shall burne mens bones vpon thee.
Et il cria contre l'autel selon la parole de l'Eternel; et dit: Autel! Autel! ainsi a dit l'Eternel, voici, un fils naîtra à la maison de David, qui aura nom Josias; il immolera sur toi les Sacrificateurs des hauts lieux qui font des encensements sur toi, et on brûlera sur toi les os des hommes.
3 And he gaue a signe the same time, saying, This is the signe, that the Lord hath spoken, Behold, the altar shall rent, and the ashes that are vpon it, shall fall out.
Et il proposa ce jour-là même un miracle, en disant: C'est ici le miracle dont l'Eternel a parlé: Voici, l'autel se fendra tout maintenant, et la cendre qui est dessus sera répandue.
4 And when the King had heard the saying of the man of God, which he had cryed against the altar in Beth-el, Ieroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying, Lay holde on him: but his hande which he put foorth against him, dryed vp, and he could not pull it in againe to him.
Or il arriva qu'aussitôt que le Roi eut entendu la parole que l'homme de Dieu avait prononcée à haute voix contre l'autel de Bethel, Jéroboam étendit sa main de l'autel, en disant: Saisissez-le. Et la main qu'il étendit contre lui devint sèche, et il ne la put retirer à soi.
5 The altar also claue asunder, and the ashes fell out from the altar, according to the signe, which the man of God had giuen by the commandement of the Lord.
L'autel aussi se fendit, et la cendre qui était sur l'autel fut répandue, selon le miracle que l'homme de Dieu avait proposé suivant la parole de l'Eternel.
6 Then the King answered, and saide vnto the man of God, I beseeche thee, pray vnto ye Lord thy God, and make intercession for me, that mine hand may bee restored vnto me. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the Kings hand was restored, and became as it was afore.
Et le Roi prit la parole, et dit à l'homme de Dieu: Je te prie qu'il te plaise de supplier l'Eternel ton Dieu, et de faire prière pour moi, afin que ma main retourne à moi. Et l'homme de Dieu supplia l'Eternel, et la main du Roi retourna à lui, et elle fut comme auparavant.
7 Then the King sayde vnto the man of God, Come home with mee, that thou mayest dyne, and I will giue thee a reward.
Alors le Roi dit à l'homme de Dieu: Entre avec moi dans la maison, et y dîne, et je te ferai un présent.
8 But the man of God saide vnto the King, If thou wouldest giue me halfe thine house, I would not goe in with thee, neither woulde I eate bread nor drinke water in this place.
Mais l'homme de Dieu répondit au Roi: Quand tu me donnerais la moitié de ta maison, je n'entrerais point chez toi, et je ne mangerais point de pain, ni ne boirais d'eau en ce lieu-ci.
9 For so was it charged mee by the worde of the Lord, saying, Eate no bread nor drinke water, nor turne againe by the same way that thou camest.
Car il m'a été ainsi commandé par l'Eternel, qui m'a dit: Tu n'y mangeras point de pain, et tu n'y boiras point d'eau, et tu ne t'en retourneras point par le chemin par lequel tu y seras allé.
10 So he went another way and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.
Il s'en alla donc par un autre chemin, et ne s'en retourna point par le chemin par lequel il était venu à Bethel.
11 And an olde Prophet dwelt in Beth-el, and his sonnes came and tolde him all ye woorkes, that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el, and the wordes which he had spoken vnto the King, tolde they their father.
Or il y avait un certain Prophète, vieux homme, qui demeurait à Bethel, à qui son fils vint raconter toutes les choses que l'homme de Dieu avait faites ce jour-là à Bethel, et les paroles qu'il avait dites au Roi; [et les enfants de ce prophète] les rapportèrent à leur père.
12 And their father sayde vnto them, What way went he? and his sonnes shewed him what waye the man of God went, which came from Iudah.
Et leur père leur dit: Par quel chemin s'en est-il allé? Or ses enfants avaient vu le chemin par lequel l'homme de Dieu qui était venu de Juda s'en était allé.
13 And hee saide vnto his sonnes, Saddle mee the asse. Who sadled him the asse, and hee rode thereon,
Et il dit à ses fils: Sellez-moi un âne; et ils le sellèrent, puis il monta dessus.
14 And went after the man of God, and found him sitting vnder an oke: and he saide vnto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Iudah? And he sayd, Yea.
Et il s'en alla après l'homme de Dieu, et le trouva assis sous un chêne; et il lui dit: Es-tu l'homme de Dieu qui es venu de Juda? Et il lui répondit: C'est moi.
15 Then he said vnto him, Come home with me, and eate bread.
Alors il lui dit: Viens avec moi dans la maison, et y mange du pain.
16 But he answered, I may not returne with thee, nor go in with thee, neither wil I eate bread nor drinke water with thee in this place.
Mais il répondit: Je ne puis retourner avec toi, ni entrer chez toi, et je ne mangerai point de pain, ni je ne boirai point d'eau avec toi en ce lieu-là.
17 For it was charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Thou shalt eate no bread, nor drinke water there, nor turne againe to goe by the way that thou wentest.
Car il m'a été dit de la part de l'Eternel: Tu n'y mangeras point de pain, et tu n'y boiras point d'eau, et tu ne t'en retourneras point par le chemin par lequel tu y seras allé.
18 And he said vnto him, I am a Prophet also as thou art, and an Angel spake vnto me by the worde of the Lord, saying, Bring him againe with thee into thine house, that hee may eate bread and drinke water: but he lyed vnto him.
Et il lui dit: Et moi aussi je suis prophète comme toi; et un Ange m'a parlé de la part de l'Eternel, en disant: Ramène-le avec toi dans ta maison, et qu'il mange du pain, et qu'il boive de l'eau; mais il lui mentait.
19 So he went againe with him, and did eate bread in his house, and dranke water.
Il s'en retourna donc avec lui, et il mangea du pain, et but de l'eau dans sa maison.
20 And as they sate at the table, the worde of the Lord came vnto the Prophet, that brought him againe.
Et il arriva que comme ils étaient assis à table, la parole de l'Eternel fut adressée au prophète qui l'avait ramené.
21 And hee cried vnto the man of God that came from Iudah, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Because thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandement which the Lord thy God commanded thee,
Et il cria à l'homme de Dieu qui était venu de Juda, en disant: Ainsi a dit l'Eternel; parce que tu as été rebelle au commandement de l'Eternel, et que tu n'as point gardé le commandement que l'Eternel ton Dieu t'avait prescrit;
22 But camest backe againe, and hast eaten bread and drunke water in the place (whereof he did say vnto thee, Thou shalt eate no bread nor drinke any water) thy carkeis shall not come vnto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
Mais tu t'en es retourné, et tu as mangé du pain, et bu de l'eau dans le lieu dont [l'Eternel] t'avait dit; n'y mange point de pain, et n'y bois point d'eau, ton corps n'entrera point au sépulcre de tes pères.
23 And when he had eaten bread and drunke, he sadled him the asse, to wit, to the Prophet whome he had brought againe.
Or après qu'il eut mangé du pain, et qu'il eut bu, [le vieux Prophète] fit seller un âne, pour le Prophète qu'il avait ramené.
24 And when hee was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slewe him, and his body was cast in the way, and the asse stoode thereby: the lion stood by the corps also.
Puis [ce Prophète] s'en alla, et un lion le rencontra dans le chemin, et le tua; et son corps était étendu [par terre] dans le chemin, et l'âne se tenait auprès du corps; le lion aussi se tenait auprès du corps.
25 And beholde, men that passed by, sawe the carkeis cast in the way, and the lion standing by the corps: and they came and tolde it in ye towne where the olde Prophet dwelt.
Et voici quelques passants virent le corps étendu dans le chemin, et le lion qui se tenait auprès du corps; et ils vinrent le dire dans la ville où ce vieux prophète demeurait.
26 And when the Prophet that brought him backe againe from the waye, hearde thereof, hee sayde, It is the man of God, who hath bene disobedient vnto the commandement of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath deliuered him vnto the lion, which hath rent him and slayne him, according to the worde of the Lord, which hee spake vnto him.
Et le prophète qui avait ramené du chemin l'homme de Dieu, l'ayant appris, dit: C'est l'homme de Dieu qui a été rebelle au commandement de l'Eternel; c'est pourquoi l'Eternel l'a livré au lion, qui l'aura déchiré après l'avoir tué, selon la parole que l'Eternel avait dite à ce [Prophète].
27 And he spake to his sonnes, saying, Saddle me the asse. And they sadled him.
Et il parla à ses fils, en disant: Sellez-moi un âne; et ils le lui sellèrent.
28 And he went and founde his body cast in the way, and the asse and the lion stoode by the corps: and the lion had not eaten the bodie, nor torne the asse.
Et il s'en alla, et trouva le corps de l'homme de Dieu étendu dans le chemin, et l'âne et le lion qui se tenaient auprès du corps; le lion n'avait point mangé le corps, ni déchiré l'âne.
29 And the Prophet tooke vp the body of the man of God, and layed it vpon the asse, and brought it againe, and the olde Prophet came to the citie, to lament and burie him.
Alors le prophète leva le corps de l'homme de Dieu, et le mit sur l'âne, et le ramena; et ce vieux prophète revint dans la ville pour en mener deuil, et l'ensevelir.
30 And hee layed his bodie in his owne graue, and they lamented ouer him, saying, Alas, my brother.
Et il mit le corps de ce Prophète dans son sépulcre, et ils pleurèrent sur lui, [en disant]: Hélas mon frère!
31 And when he had buried him, hee spake to his sonnes, saying, When I am dead, burie ye mee also in the sepulchre, wherein the man of God is buried: lay my bones beside his bones.
Et il arriva qu'après qu'il l'eut enseveli, il parla à ses fils, en disant: Quand je serai mort, ensevelissez-moi au sépulcre où est enseveli l'homme de Dieu, [et] mettez mes os auprès de lui.
32 For that thing which he cried by the word of the Lord against the altar that is in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the hie places, which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to passe.
Car ce qu'il a prononcé à haute voix selon la parole de l'Eternel contre l'autel qui est à Bethel, et contre toutes les maisons des hauts lieux qui sont dans les villes de Samarie, arrivera infailliblement.
33 Howbeit after this, Ieroboam conuerted not from his wicked way, but turned againe, and made of the lowest of the people Priests of the hie places. Who would, might consecrate him selfe, and be of the Priestes of the hie places.
Néanmoins Jéroboam ne se détourna point de son mauvais train, mais il revint à faire des Sacrificateurs des hauts lieux d'entre les derniers du peuple; quiconque voulait, se consacrait, et était des Sacrificateurs des hauts lieux.
34 And this thing turned to sinne vnto the house of Ieroboam, euen to roote it out, and destroy it from the face of the earth.
Et cela tourna en péché à la maison de Jéroboam, qui fut effacée et exterminée de dessus la terre.
