1 Kings 12
1 And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for al Israel were come to Sheche, to make him king
Rehoboam foi a Shechem, pois todo Israel tinha vindo a Shechem para torná-lo rei.
2 And whe Ieroboam ye sonne of Nebat heard of it (who was yet in Egypt, whither Ieroboam had fled from king Salomon, and dwelt in Egypt)
Quando Jeroboão, filho de Nebat, soube disso (pois ele ainda estava no Egito, onde havia fugido da presença do rei Salomão, e Jeroboão vivia no Egito;
3 Then they sent and called him: and Ieroboam and all the Congregation of Israel came, and spake vnto Rehoboam, saying,
e eles o enviaram e o chamaram), Jeroboão e toda a assembléia de Israel vieram, e falaram com Roboão, dizendo:
4 Thy father made our yoke grieuous: now therefore make thou the grieuous seruitude of thy father, and his sore yoke which he put vpon vs, lighter, and we will serue thee.
“Seu pai dificultou nosso jugo. Agora, portanto, torne o duro serviço de seu pai, e seu pesado jugo que ele nos colocou, mais leve, e nós o serviremos”.
5 And he said vnto them, Depart yet for three dayes, then come againe to me. And the people departed.
Ele disse a eles: “Parta por três dias, depois volte para mim”. Assim, o povo partiu.
6 And King Rehoboam tooke counsell with the olde men that had stande before Salomon his father, while he yet liued, and sayde, What counsell giue ye, that I may make an answere to this people?
O rei Rehoboam aconselhou-se com os anciãos que tinham estado perante Salomão, seu pai, enquanto ele ainda vivia, dizendo: “Que conselho você me dá para responder a essas pessoas?
7 And they spake vnto him, saying, If thou be a seruant vnto this people this day, and serue them, and answere them, and speake kinde wordes to them, they will be thy seruants for euer.
Eles responderam: “Se você for um servo deste povo hoje, e os servir, e lhes responder com boas palavras, então eles serão seus servos para sempre”.
8 But he forsooke the counsell that the olde men had giuen him, and asked counsell of the yong men that had bene brought vp with him, and waited on him.
Mas ele abandonou o conselho dos velhos que lhe haviam dado, e se aconselhou com os jovens que haviam crescido com ele, que estavam diante dele.
9 And he said vnto them, What counsell giue ye, that we may answere this people, which haue spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke, which thy father did put vpon vs, lighter?
Ele lhes disse: “Que conselho vocês dão, para que possamos responder a essas pessoas que falaram comigo, dizendo: 'Faça o jugo que seu pai nos pôs mais leve'”.
10 Then the yong men that were brought vp with him, spake vnto him, saying, Thus shalt thou say vnto this people, that haue spoken vnto thee, and said, Thy father hath made our yoke heauie, but make thou it lighter vnto vs: euen thus shalt thou say vnto them, My least part shalbe bigger then my fathers loynes.
Os jovens que tinham crescido com ele lhe disseram: “Diga a essas pessoas que falaram com você, dizendo: 'Seu pai tornou nosso jugo pesado, mas torne-o mais leve para nós' - diga-lhes: 'Meu dedo mindinho é mais grosso que a cintura do meu pai'.
11 Now where as my father did burden you with a grieuous yoke, I will yet make your yoke heauier: my father hath chastised you with rods, but I will correct you with scourges.
Agora meu pai o sobrecarregou com um jugo pesado, mas eu o acrescentarei ao seu jugo. Meu pai te castigou com chicotes, mas eu te castigarei com escorpiões””.
12 Then Ieroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me againe ye thirde day.
Então Jeroboão e todo o povo vieram a Rehoboam no terceiro dia, como pediu o rei, dizendo: “Venha até mim novamente no terceiro dia”.
13 And the king answered the people sharpely, and left the old mens counsell that they gaue him,
O rei respondeu ao povo grosso modo, e abandonou o conselho dos anciãos que lhe haviam dado,
14 And spake to them after the counsell of the yong men, saying, My father made your yoke grieuous, and I will make your yoke more grieuous: my father hath chastised you with rods, but I will correct you with scourges.
e falou-lhes de acordo com o conselho dos jovens, dizendo: “Meu pai fez pesado o seu jugo, mas eu acrescentarei ao seu jugo”. Meu pai te castigou com chicotes, mas eu te castigarei com escorpiões”.
15 And the King hearkened not vnto the people: for it was the ordinance of the Lord, that he might perfourme his saying, which the Lord had spoken by Ahiiah the Shilonite vnto Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat.
Então o rei não deu ouvidos ao povo; pois foi uma coisa trazida por Javé, para que ele pudesse estabelecer sua palavra, que Javé falou por Ahijah, o xilonita, a Jeroboão, filho de Nebat.
16 So when all Israel sawe that the King regarded them not, the people answered the King thus, saying, What portion haue we in Dauid? we haue none inheritance in the sonne of Ishai. To your tents, O Israel: nowe see to thine owne house, Dauid. So Israel departed vnto their tents.
Quando todo Israel viu que o rei não os ouvia, o povo respondeu ao rei, dizendo: “Que porção temos nós em Davi? Não temos uma herança no filho de Jessé. Às suas tendas, Israel! Agora cuide da sua própria casa, David”. Então Israel partiu para as suas tendas.
17 Howbeit ouer the children of Israel, which dwelt in the cities of Iudah, did Rehoboam reigne still.
Mas quanto às crianças de Israel que viviam nas cidades de Judá, Rehoboam reinava sobre elas.
18 Nowe the King Rehoboam sent Adoram the receiuer of the tribute, and all Israel stoned him to death: then King Rehoboam made speede to get him vp to his charet, to flee to Ierusalem.
Então o rei Roboão enviou Adoram, que estava sobre os homens sujeitos a trabalhos forçados; e todo Israel o apedrejou até a morte com pedras. O rei Roboão apressou-se a subir para sua carruagem, para fugir para Jerusalém.
19 And Israel rebelled against the house of Dauid vnto this day.
Então Israel se rebelou contra a casa de Davi até os dias de hoje.
20 And when all Israel had heard that Ieroboam was come againe, they sent and called him vnto the assemblie, and made him King ouer all Israel: none followed the house of Dauid, but the tribe of Iudah onely.
Quando todo Israel ouviu que Jeroboão havia voltado, eles o enviaram e o chamaram para a congregação, e o fizeram rei sobre todo Israel. Não houve ninguém que seguisse a casa de Davi, exceto apenas a tribo de Judá.
21 And when Rehoboam was come to Ierusalem, he gathered all the house of Iudah with the tribe of Beniamin an hundreth and foure score thousand of chosen men (which were good warriours) to fight against the house of Israel, and to bring the kingdome againe to Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon.
Quando Roboão chegou a Jerusalém, ele reuniu toda a casa de Judá e a tribo de Benjamim, cento e oitenta mil homens escolhidos que eram guerreiros, para lutar contra a casa de Israel, para trazer novamente o reino a Roboão, filho de Salomão.
22 But the worde of God came vnto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
Mas a palavra de Deus veio a Semaías, o homem de Deus, dizendo:
23 Speake vnto Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon King of Iudah, and vnto all the house of Iudah and Beniamin, and the remnant of the people, saying,
“Fala a Roboão, filho de Salomão, rei de Judá, e a toda a casa de Judá e Benjamim, e ao resto do povo, dizendo:
24 Thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not go vp, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: returne euery man to his house: for this thing is done by me. They obeyed therefore the worde of the Lord and returned, and departed, according to the worde of the Lord.
'Yahweh diz: “Não subirá nem lutará contra seus irmãos, os filhos de Israel. Todos retornarão à sua casa; pois isto é de mim””. Então eles ouviram a palavra de Javé, voltaram e seguiram seu caminho, de acordo com a palavra de Javé.
25 Then Ieroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein, and went from thence, and built Penuel.
Então Jeroboam construiu Shechem na região montanhosa de Ephraim, e viveu nela; e de lá saiu e construiu Penuel.
26 And Ieroboam thought in his heart, Nowe shall the kingdome returne to the house of Dauid.
Jeroboão disse em seu coração: “Agora o reino voltará à casa de Davi”.
27 If this people goe vp and doe sacrifice in the house of the Lord at Ierusalem, then shall the heart of this people turne againe vnto their lorde, euen to Rehoboam King of Iudah: so shall they kill me and goe againe to Rehoboam King of Iudah.
Se este povo subir para oferecer sacrifícios na casa de Iavé em Jerusalém, então o coração deste povo voltará novamente para seu senhor, até mesmo para Roboão rei de Judá; e me matarão, e voltarão para Roboão rei de Judá”.
28 Whereupon the King tooke counsell, and made two calues of golde, and saide vnto them, It is too much for you to goe vp to Ierusalem: beholde, O Israel, thy gods, which brought thee vp out of the lande of Egypt.
Então o rei tomou conselho, e fez dois bezerros de ouro; e disse-lhes: “É demais para vocês subirem a Jerusalém. Olhai e vede vossos deuses, Israel, que vos fizeram subir da terra do Egito”!
29 And he set the one in Beth-el, and the other set he in Dan.
Ele pôs um em Betel, e o outro em Dan.
30 And this thing turned to sinne: for the people went (because of the one) euen to Dan.
Esta coisa se tornou um pecado, pois o povo chegou até Dan para adorar antes daquele que lá estava.
31 Also he made an house of hie places, and made Priestes of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sonnes of Leui.
Ele fez casas de lugares altos, e fez sacerdotes entre todo o povo, que não eram dos filhos de Levi.
32 And Ieroboam made a feast the fifteenth day of the eight moneth, like vnto the feast that is in Iudah, and offred on the altar. So did he in Beth-el and offered vnto the calues that he had made: and he placed in Beth-el the Priestes of the hie places, which he had made.
Jeroboão ordenou uma festa no oitavo mês, no décimo quinto dia do mês, como a festa que está em Judá, e subiu ao altar. Ele o fez em Betel, sacrificando-se aos bezerros que havia feito, e colocou em Betel os sacerdotes dos lugares altos que havia feito.
33 And he offered vpon the altar, which he had made in Beth-el, the fifteenth day of the eight moneth, (euen in the moneth which he had forged of his owne heart) and made a solemne feast vnto the children of Israel: and he went vp to the altar, to burne incense.
Ele subiu ao altar que havia feito em Betel no décimo quinto dia do oitavo mês, mesmo no mês que ele havia planejado de seu próprio coração; e ordenou uma festa para os filhos de Israel, e subiu ao altar para queimar incenso.
