1 Kings 1
1 Now when King Dauid was olde, and striken in yeeres, they couered him with clothes, but no heate came vnto him.
ORA il re Davide divenne vecchio [e] molto attempato; e benchè lo coprissero di panni, non però si riscaldava.
2 Wherefore his seruants saide vnto him, Let there be sought for my lord ye King a yong virgin, and let her stand before the king, and cherish him: and let her lie in thy bosome, that my lord the King may get heate.
Laonde i suoi servitori gli dissero: Cerchisi al re, nostro signore, una fanciulla vergine, la quale stia davanti al re, e lo governi, e ti giaccia in seno; acciocchè il re, mio signore, si riscaldi.
3 So they sought for a faire young maide thoroughout all the coastes of Israel, and founde one Abishag a Shunamite, and brought her to the king.
Cercarono adunque, per tutte le contrade d'Israele, una bella fanciulla; e trovarono Abisag Sunamita, e la condussero al re.
4 And the maid was exceeding faire, and cherished the king, and ministred to him, but the King knew her not.
E la fanciulla [era] bellissima, e governava il re, e lo serviva; ma il re non la conobbe.
5 Then Adoniiah the sonne of Haggith exalted himselfe, saying, I will be king. And he gate him charets and horsemen, and fiftie men to run before him.
Allora Adonia, figliuolo di Hagghit, s'innalzò, dicendo: Io regnerò; e si fornì di carri e di cavalieri; e cinquant'uomini correvano davanti a lui.
6 And his father would not displease him from his childehood, to say, Why hast thou done so? And hee was a very goodly man, and his mother bare him next after Absalom.
(Or suo padre non volle contristarlo in vita sua, dicendo: Perchè hai fatta cotesta cosa? Ed oltre a ciò, egli [era] bellissimo, e [sua madre] l'avea partorito dopo Absalom.)
7 And he tooke counsel of Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah, and of Abiathar the Priest: and they helped forward Adoniiah.
Poi tenne ragionamento con Ioab, figliuolo di Seruia, e col sacerdote Ebiatar; ed essi gli porsero aiuto, e lo seguitarono.
8 But Zadok the Priest, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and Nathan the Prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the men of might, which were with Dauid, were not with Adoniiah.
Ma il sacerdote Sadoc, e Benaia, figliuolo di Ioiada, e il profeta Natan, e Simi, e Rei, e gli uomini prodi che Davide avea, non furono della parte di Adonia.
9 Then Adoniiah sacrificed sheepe and oxen, and fat cattel by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and called all his brethren the kings sonnes, and al the men of Iudah ye Kings seruants,
Or Adonia ammazzò pecore e buoi, ed animali grassi, presso alla pietra di Zohelet, ch'[è] vicin della fonte di Roghel; e invitò tutti i suoi fratelli, figliuoli del re, e tutti gli uomini di Giuda ch'erano al servigio del re;
10 But Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah, and the mightie men, and Salomon his brother hee called not.
ma non invitò il profeta Natan, nè Benaia, nè gli uomini prodi, nè Salomone, suo fratello.
11 Wherefore Nathan spake vnto Bath-sheba the mother of Salomon, saying, Hast thou not heard, that Adoniiah ye sonne of Haggith doeth reigne, and Dauid our lord knoweth it not?
E Natan disse a Batseba, madre di Salomone: Non hai tu udito che Adonia, figliuolo di Hagghit, [è] stato fatto re, senza che Davide, nostro signore, ne sappia nulla?
12 Now therefore come, and I will now giue thee counsell, howe to saue thine owne life, and the life of thy sonne Salomon.
Ora dunque vieni, e [permetti], ti prego, che io ti dia un consiglio, acciocchè tu scampi la vita tua, e la vita di Salomone, tuo figliuolo.
13 Go, and get thee in vnto King Dauid, and say vnto him, Didest not thou, my lorde, O King, sweare vnto thine handmaide, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and he shall sit vpon my throne? why is then Adoniiah King?
Va', ed entra dal re Davide, e digli: Non hai tu, o re, mio signore, giurato alla tua servente, dicendo: Certo, Salomone, tuo figliuolo, regnerà dopo me, e sederà in sul mio trono? perchè dunque è stato fatto re Adonia?
14 Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the King, I also will come in after thee, and confirme thy wordes.
Ecco, mentre tu [sarai] ancora quivi, parlando col re, io entrerò dopo te, e supplirò le tue parole.
15 So Bath-sheba went in vnto the King into the chamber, and the King was verie olde, and Abishag the Shunammite ministred vnto ye King.
Batseba dunque entrò dal re dentro alla camera. Ora il re [era] molto vecchio, ed Abisag Sunamita lo serviva.
16 And Bath-sheba bowed and made obeisance vnto the King. And the King saide, What is thy matter?
E Batseba s'inchinò, e fece riverenza al re. E il re [le] disse: Che hai?
17 And shee answered him, My lorde, thou swarest by the Lord thy God vnto thine handmaide, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and he shall sit vpon my throne.
Ed ella gli disse: Signor mio, tu hai giurato alla tua servente per lo Signore Iddio tuo: Certo, Salomone, tuo figliuolo, regnerà dopo me, e sederà in sul mio trono.
18 And beholde, nowe is Adoniiah king, and now, my lord, O King, thou knowest it not.
E pure ecco ora, Adonia è stato fatto re, senza che ora tu, o re, mio signore, ne abbi saputo nulla.
19 And he hath offred many oxen, and fatte cattel, and sheepe, and hath called all the sonnes of the King, and Abiathar the Priest, and Ioab the captaine of the hoste: but Salomon thy seruant hath he not bidden.
Ed ha ammazzati buoi, ed animali grassi, e pecore, in gran numero; ed ha invitati tutti i figliuoli del re, e il sacerdote Ebiatar, e Ioab, capo dell'esercito; ma non ha chiamato il tuo servitore Salomone.
20 And thou, my lorde, O King, knowest that the eyes of all Israel are on thee, that thou shouldest tell them, who shoulde sit on the throne of my lord the King after him.
Ora gli occhi di tutto Israele [son volti] verso te, o re, mio signore; acciocchè tu dichiari loro chi ha da sedere in sul trono del re, mio signore, dopo lui.
21 For els when my lord the King shall sleepe with his fathers, I and my sonne Salomon shalbe reputed vile.
Altrimenti avverrà che, quando il re, mio signore, giacerà co' suoi padri, io e il mio figliuolo Salomone saremo [riputati] colpevoli.
22 And lo, while she yet talked with the King, Nathan also the Prophet came in.
Or, mentre ella parlava ancora col re, ecco, il profeta Natan sopraggiunse.
23 And they tolde the King, saying, Beholde, Nathan the Prophet. And when he was come in to the King, hee made obeisance before the King vpon his face to the ground.
E [ciò] fu rapportato al re, dicendo: Ecco il profeta Natan. Ed egli venne alla presenza del re, e gli s'inchinò, con la faccia verso terra.
24 And Nathan saide, My lorde, O King, hast thou said, Adoniiah shall reigne after mee, and he shall sit vpon my throne?
E Natan disse al re: O re, mio signore, hai tu detto: Adonia regnerà dopo me, ed egli sarà quel che sederà sopra il mio trono?
25 For hee is gone downe this day, and hath slaine many oxen, and fat cattel, and sheepe, and hath called al the Kings sonnes, and the captaines of the hoste, and Abiathar the Priest: and behold, they eate and drinke before him, and say, God saue King Adoniiah.
Conciossiachè oggi egli sia sceso, ed abbia ammazzati buoi, ed animali grassi, e pecore in gran numero; ed abbia invitati tutti i figliuoli del re, ed i capi dell'esercito, e il sacerdote Ebiatar; ed ecco, mangiano e bevono davanti a lui, ed hanno detto: Viva il re Adonia.
26 But me thy seruant, and Zadok the Priest, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and thy seruant Salomon hath he not called.
Ma egli non ha chiamato me, tuo servitore, nè il sacerdote Sadoc, nè Benaia, figliuolo di Ioiada, nè Salomone, tuo servitore.
27 Is this thing done by my lord the King, and thou hast not shewed it vnto thy seruant, who should sitte on the throne of my lorde the King after him?
Questa cosa è ella stata fatta da parte del re, mio signore, senza che tu abbi dichiarato al tuo servitore chi ha da sedere sopra il trono del re, mio signore, dopo lui?
28 Then King Dauid answered, and saide, Call me Bath-sheba. And shee came into ye Kings presence, and stoode before the King.
E il re Davide rispose, e disse: Chiamatemi Batseba. Ed ella venne davanti al re, e stette in piè in sua presenza.
29 And the King sware, saying, As the Lord liueth, who hath redeemed my soule out of all aduersitie,
E il re giurò, e disse: [Come] il Signore, che ha riscossa l'anima mia d'ogni tribolazione, vive,
30 That as I sware vnto thee by the Lord God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and hee shall sit vpon my throne in my place, so will I certainely doe this day.
io ti farò oggi, come io ti ho giurato per lo Signore Iddio di Israele, dicendo: Salomone, tuo figliuolo, regnerà dopo me; ed egli sederà in sul mio trono, in luogo mio.
31 Then Bath-sheba bowed her face to the earth, and did reuerence vnto the King, and said, God saue my lord King Dauid for euer.
E Batseba s'inchinò con la faccia verso terra, e fece riverenza al re, e disse: Possa il re Davide, mio signore, vivere in perpetuo.
32 And King Dauid saide, Call mee Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada. And they came before the King.
Poi il re Davide disse: Chiamatemi il sacerdote Sadoc, e il profeta Natan, e Benaia, figliuolo di Ioiada. Ed essi vennero in presenza del re.
33 Then the King said vnto them, Take with you the seruants of your lorde, and cause Salomon my sonne to ride vpon mine owne mule, and carie him downe to Gihon.
E il re disse loro: Prendete con voi i servitori del vostro signore, e fate montar Salomone, mio figliuolo sopra la mia mula, e menatelo sopra Ghihon.
34 And let Zadok the Priest and Nathan the Prophet anoint him there King ouer Israel, and blowe ye the trumpet, and say, God saue king Salomon.
E il sacerdote Sadoc e il profeta Natan unganlo quivi per re sopra Israele. Poi sonate con la tromba, e dite: Viva il re Salomone.
35 Then come vp after him, that hee may come and sit vpon my throne: and hee shall bee King in my steade: for I haue appointed him to be prince ouer Israel and ouer Iudah.
Poi ritornatevene dietro a lui, ed egli verrà, e sederà sopra il mio trono, e regnerà in luogo mio; perciocchè io l'ho ordinato per esser conduttore sopra Israele e sopra Giuda.
36 Then Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada answered the King, and said, So be it, and the Lord God of my lord the King ratifie it.
E Benaia, figliuolo di Ioiada, rispose al re, e disse: Amen, così dica il Signore Iddio del re, mio signore.
37 As the Lord hath bene with my lorde the King, so be he with Salomon, and exalt his throne aboue the throne of my lorde king Dauid.
Siccome il Signore è stato col re, mio signore, così sia con Salomone; e magnifichi il suo trono, anche sopra il trono del re Davide, mio signore.
38 So Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went downe and caused Salomon to ride vpon king Dauids mule, and brought him to Gihon.
Il sacerdote Sadoc adunque, e il profeta Natan e Benaia, figliuolo di Ioiada, e i Cheretei, e i Peletei, scesero, e fecero montare Salomone sopra la mula del re Davide, e lo condussero sopra Ghihon.
39 And Zadok the Priest tooke an horne of oyle out of the Tabernacle, and anointed Salomon: and they blewe the trumpet, and all the people said, God saue king Salomon.
E il sacerdote Sadoc prese il corno dell'olio del Tabernacolo, ed unse Salomone. Poi si sonò con la tromba, e tutto il popolo disse: Viva il re Salomone.
40 And all the people came vp after him, and the people piped with pipes, and reioyced with great ioye, so that the earth rang with the sound of them.
E tutto il popolo ritornò dietro a lui, sonando flauti, e rallegrandosi di una grande allegrezza, talchè la terra si schiantava per le lor grida.
41 And Adoniiah and all the ghestes that were with him, heard it: (and they had made an ende of eating) and when Ioab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, What meaneth this noise and vprore in the citie?
Or Adonia, e tutti gl'invitati ch'[erano] con lui, come finivano di mangiare, udirono [questo romore]. Ioab ancora udì il suon della tromba, e disse: Che vuol dire questo grido della città, che è [così] commossa?
42 And as he yet spake, beholde, Ionathan the sonne of Abiathar the Priest came: and Adoniiah said, Come in: for thou art a worthie man, and bringest good tidings.
Mentre egli parlava ancora, ecco, Gionatan, figliuolo del sacerdote Ebiatar, giunse. Ed Adonia [gli] disse: Vien pure; perciocchè tu sei un valent'uomo, e devi recar buone novelle.
43 And Ionathan answered, and said to Adoniiah, Verely our lord King Dauid hath made Salomon King.
Ma Gionatan rispose, e disse ad Adonia: Per certo il re Davide, nostro signore, ha costituito re Salomone.
44 And the King hath sent with him Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they haue caused him to ride vpon the Kings mule.
E il re ha mandato con lui il sacerdote Sadoc, e il profeta Natan, e Benaia, figliuolo di Ioiada, e i Cheretei, e i Peletei; ed essi l'hanno fatto montare sopra la mula del re.
45 And Zadok the Priest, and Nathan ye Prophet haue anointed him King in Gihon: and they are gone vp from thence with ioy, and the citie is moued: this is the noise that ye haue heard.
E il sacerdote Sadoc e il profeta Natan l'hanno unto per re in Ghihon; e di là se ne son tornati con allegrezza; e la città se n'è commossa. Quest'[è] il romore che voi avete udito.
46 And Salomon also sitteth on the throne of the kingdome.
Ed anche Salomone si è posto a sedere sopra il trono reale.
47 And moreouer the Kings seruantes came to blesse our lord King Dauid, saying, God make the name of Salomon more famous then thy name, and exalt his throne aboue thy throne: therefore the King worshipped vpon the bed.
Ed anche i servitori del re son venuti per benedire il re Davide, nostro signore, dicendo: Iddio renda il nome di Salomone vie più eccellente che il tuo nome, e magnifichi il suo trono vie più che il tuo. E il re ha adorato in sul letto;
48 And thus sayd the King also, Blessed bee the Lord God of Israel, who hath made one to sit on my throne this day, euen in my sight.
ed anche ha detto così: Benedetto [sia] il Signore Iddio d'Israele, il quale ha oggi stabilito uno che segga sopra il mio trono, davanti agli occhi miei.
49 Then all the ghestes that were with Adonijah, were afraide, and rose vp, and went euery man his way.
Allora tutti gl'invitati da Adonia sbigottirono, e si levarono, e andarono, ciascuno a suo cammino.
50 And Adonijah fearing the presence of Salomon, arose and went, and tooke holde on the hornes of the altar.
Ed Adonia, temendo di Salomone, si levò, e andò, e impugnò le corna dell'Altare.
51 And one tolde Salomon, saying, Beholde, Adonijah doeth feare King Salomon: for lo, he hath caught holde on the hornes of the altar, saying, Let King Salomon sweare vnto me this day, that he will not slay his seruant with the sword.
E [ciò] fu rapportato a Salomone, dicendo: Ecco, Adonia teme del re Salomone; ed ecco, egli ha impugnate le corna dell'Altare, dicendo: Giurimi oggi il re Salomone, ch'egli non farà morire il suo servitore con la spada.
52 Then Salomon sayd, If he will shewe him selfe a worthy man, there shall not an heare of him fall to the earth, but if wickednes be found in him, he shall dye.
E Salomone disse: Se egli si porta da uomo virtuoso, ei non caderà pur uno de' suoi capelli a terra; ma, se si trova in lui del male, morrà.
53 Then King Salomon sent, and they brought him from the altar, and he came and did obeisance vnto King Salomon. And Salomon sayde vnto him, Go to thine house.
E il re Salomone mandò a ritrarlo d'appresso all'Altare. Ed egli venne, e s'inchinò al re Salomone. E Salomone gli disse: Vattene a casa tua.
