1 Nowe concerning the thinges whereof ye wrote vnto mee, It were good for a man not to touche a woman.

2 Neuertheles, to auoide fornication, let euery man haue his wife, and let euery woman haue her owne husband.
kintu vyabhicaarabhayaad ekaikasya pu. msa. h svakiiyabhaaryyaa bhavatu tadvad ekaikasyaa yo. sito. api svakiiyabharttaa bhavatu|
3 Let the husband giue vnto the wife due beneuolence, and likewise also the wife vnto the husband.
bhaaryyaayai bhartraa yadyad vitara. niiya. m tad vitiiryyataa. m tadvad bhartre. api bhaaryyayaa vitara. niiya. m vitiiryyataa. m|
4 The wife hath not the power of her owne bodie, but ye husband: and likewise also the husband hath not ye power of his own body, but the wife.
bhaaryyaayaa. h svadehe svatva. m naasti bharttureva, tadvad bhartturapi svadehe svatva. m naasti bhaaryyaayaa eva|
5 Defraude not one another, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may giue your selues to fasting and praier, and againe come together that Satan tempt you not for your incontinecie.

6 But I speake this by permission, not by commandement.
etad aade"sato nahi kintvanuj naata eva mayaa kathyate,
7 For I woulde that all men were euen as I my selfe am: but euery man hath his proper gift of God, one after this maner, and another after that.
yato mamaavastheva sarvvamaanavaanaamavasthaa bhavatviti mama vaa nchaa kintvii"svaraad ekenaiko varo. anyena caanyo vara itthamekaikena svakiiyavaro labdha. h|
8 Therefore I say vnto the vnmaried, and vnto the widowes, It is good for them if they abide euen as I doe.
aparam ak. rtavivaahaan vidhavaa"sca prati mamaitannivedana. m mameva te. saamavasthiti rbhadraa;
9 But if they cannot abstaine, let them marrie: for it is better to marrie then to burne.
ki nca yadi tairindriyaa. ni niyantu. m na "sakyante tarhi vivaaha. h kriyataa. m yata. h kaamadahanaad vyuu. dhatva. m bhadra. m|
10 And vnto ye maried I comand, not I, but ye Lord, Let not ye wife depart from her husband.
ye ca k. rtavivaahaaste mayaa nahi prabhunaivaitad aaj naapyante|
11 But and if shee depart, let her remaine vnmaried, or be reconciled vnto her husband, and let not the husband put away his wife.
bhaaryyaa bhartt. rta. h p. rthak na bhavatu| yadi vaa p. rthagbhuutaa syaat tarhi nirvivaahaa ti. s.thatu sviiyapatinaa vaa sandadhaatu bharttaapi bhaaryyaa. m na tyajatu|
12 But to ye remnant I speake, and not ye Lord, If any brother haue a wife, ye beleeueth not, if she be content to dwell with him, let him not forsake her.
itaraan janaan prati prabhu rna braviiti kintvaha. m braviimi; kasyacid bhraaturyo. sid avi"svaasinii satyapi yadi tena sahavaase tu. syati tarhi saa tena na tyajyataa. m|
13 And the woman which hath an husband that beleeueth not, if he be content to dwell with her, let her not forsake him.
tadvat kasyaa"scid yo. sita. h patiravi"svaasii sannapi yadi tayaa sahavaase tu. syati tarhi sa tayaa na tyajyataa. m|
14 For the vnbeleeuing husband is sanctified to the wife, and the vnbeleeuing wife is sanctified to the husband, els were your children vncleane: but nowe are they holie.
yato. avi"svaasii bharttaa bhaaryyayaa pavitriibhuuta. h, tadvadavi"svaasinii bhaaryyaa bhartraa pavitriibhuutaa; noced yu. smaakamapatyaanya"suciinyabhavi. syan kintvadhunaa taani pavitraa. ni santi|
15 But if the vnbeleeuing depart, let him depart: a brother or a sister is not in subiection in such things: but God hath called vs in peace.
avi"svaasii jano yadi vaa p. rthag bhavati tarhi p. rthag bhavatu; etena bhraataa bhaginii vaa na nibadhyate tathaapi vayamii"svare. na "saantaye samaahuutaa. h|
16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt saue thine husband? Or what knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt saue thy wife?
he naari tava bharttu. h paritraa. na. m tvatto bhavi. syati na veti tvayaa ki. m j naayate? he nara tava jaayaayaa. h paritraa. na. m tvatte bhavi. syati na veti tvayaa ki. m j naayate?
17 But as God hath distributed to euery man, as the Lord hath called euery one, so let him walke: and so ordaine I, in all Churches.
ekaiko jana. h parame"svaraallabdha. m yad bhajate yasyaa ncaavasthaayaam ii"svare. naahvaayi tadanusaare. naivaacaratu tadaha. m sarvvasamaajasthaan aadi"saami|
18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not gather his vncircumcision: is any called vncircumcised? let him not be circumcised.
chinnatvag bh. rtvaa ya aahuuta. h sa prak. r.s. tatvak na bhavatu, tadvad achinnatvag bhuutvaa ya aahuuta. h sa chinnatvak na bhavatu|
19 Circumcision is nothing, and vncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandements of God.
tvakcheda. h saaro nahi tadvadatvakchedo. api saaro nahi kintvii"svarasyaaj naanaa. m paalanameva|
20 Let euery man abide in the same vocation wherein he was called.
yo jano yasyaamavasthaayaamaahvaayi sa tasyaamevaavati. s.thataa. m|
21 Art thou called being a seruant? care not for it: but if yet thou maiest be free, vse it rather.
daasa. h san tva. m kimaahuuto. asi? tanmaa cintaya, tathaaca yadi svatantro bhavitu. m "saknuyaastarhi tadeva v. r.nu|
22 For he that is called in the Lord, being. a seruant, is the Lords freeman: likewise also he that is called being free, is Christes seruant.
yata. h prabhunaahuuto yo daasa. h sa prabho rmocitajana. h| tadvad tenaahuuta. h svatantro jano. api khrii. s.tasya daasa eva|
23 Yee are bought with a price: be not the seruants of men.
yuuya. m muulyena kriitaa ato heto rmaanavaanaa. m daasaa maa bhavata|
24 Brethren, let euery man, wherein hee was called, therein abide with God.
he bhraataro yasyaamavasthaayaa. m yasyaahvaanamabhavat tayaa sa ii"svarasya saak. saat ti. s.thatu|
25 Nowe concerning virgines, I haue no commandement of the Lord: but I giue mine aduise, as one that hath obtained mercie of the Lord to be faithfull.
aparam ak. rtavivaahaan janaan prati prabho. h ko. apyaade"so mayaa na labdha. h kintu prabhoranukampayaa vi"svaasyo bhuuto. aha. m yad bhadra. m manye tad vadaami|
26 I suppose then this to bee good for the present necessitie: I meane that it is good for a man so to be.
varttamaanaat kle"sasamayaat manu. syasyaanuu. dhatva. m bhadramiti mayaa budhyate|
27 Art thou bounde vnto a wife? seeke not to be loosed: art thou loosed from a wife? seeke not a wife.
tva. m ki. m yo. siti nibaddho. asi tarhi mocana. m praaptu. m maa yatasva| ki. m vaa yo. sito mukto. asi? tarhi jaayaa. m maa gave. saya|
28 But if thou takest a wife, thou sinnest not: and if a virgine marrie, shee sinneth not: neuerthelesse, such shall haue trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.
vivaaha. m kurvvataa tvayaa kimapi naapaaraadhyate tadvad vyuuhyamaanayaa yuvatyaapi kimapi naaparaadhyate tathaaca taad. r"sau dvau janau "saariirika. m kle"sa. m lapsyete kintu yu. smaan prati mama karu. naa vidyate|
29 And this I say, brethren, because the time is short, hereafter that both they which haue wiues, be as though they had none:
he bhraataro. ahamida. m braviimi, ita. h para. m samayo. atiiva sa. mk. sipta. h,
30 And they that weepe, as though they wept not: and they that reioyce, as though they reioyced not: and they that bye, as though they possessed not:
ata. h k. rtadaarairak. rtadaarairiva rudadbhi"scaarudadbhiriva saanandai"sca niraanandairiva kret. rbhi"scaabhaagibhirivaacaritavya. m
31 And they that vse this worlde, as though they vsed it not: for the fashion of this worlde goeth away.
ye ca sa. msaare caranti tai rnaaticaritavya. m yata ihalekasya kautuko vicalati|
32 And I would haue you without care. The vnmaried careth for the things of the Lord, howe he may please the Lord.
kintu yuuya. m yanni"scintaa bhaveteti mama vaa nchaa| ak. rtavivaaho jano yathaa prabhu. m parito. sayet tathaa prabhu. m cintayati,
33 But hee that is maried, careth for the things of the world, how he may please his wife.
kintu k. rtavivaaho jano yathaa bhaaryyaa. m parito. sayet tathaa sa. msaara. m cintayati|
34 There is difference also betweene a virgine and a wife: the vnmaried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy, both in body and in spirite: but shee that is maried, careth for the things of the worlde, howe shee may please her husband.
tadvad uu. dhayo. sito. anuu. dhaa vi"si. syate| yaanuu. dhaa saa yathaa kaayamanaso. h pavitraa bhavet tathaa prabhu. m cintayati yaa co. dhaa saa yathaa bharttaara. m parito. sayet tathaa sa. msaara. m cintayati|
35 And this I speake for your owne commoditie, not to tangle you in a snare, but that yee follow that, which is honest, and that yee may cleaue fast vnto the Lord without separation.
aha. m yad yu. smaan m. rgabandhinyaa parik. sipeya. m tadartha. m nahi kintu yuuya. m yadaninditaa bhuutvaa prabho. h sevane. abaadham aasaktaa bhaveta tadarthametaani sarvvaa. ni yu. smaaka. m hitaaya mayaa kathyante|
36 But if any man thinke that it is vncomely for his virgine, if shee passe the flower of her age, and neede so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them be maried.
kasyacit kanyaayaa. m yauvanapraaptaayaa. m yadi sa tasyaa anuu. dhatva. m nindaniiya. m vivaaha"sca saadhayitavya iti manyate tarhi yathaabhilaa. sa. m karotu, etena kimapi naaparaatsyati vivaaha. h kriyataa. m|
37 Neuerthelesse, hee that standeth firme in his heart, that hee hath no neede, but hath power ouer his owne will, and hath so decreed in his heart, that hee will keepe his virgine, hee doeth well.
kintu du. hkhenaakli. s.ta. h ka"scit pitaa yadi sthiramanogata. h svamano. abhilaa. sasaadhane samartha"sca syaat mama kanyaa mayaa rak. sitavyeti manasi ni"scinoti ca tarhi sa bhadra. m karmma karoti|
38 So then hee that giueth her to mariage, doeth well, but he that giueth her not to mariage, doeth better.
ato yo vivaaha. m karoti sa bhadra. m karmma karoti ya"sca vivaaha. m na karoti sa bhadratara. m karmma karoti|
39 The wife is bounde by the Lawe, as long as her husband liueth: but if her husband bee dead, shee is at libertie to marie with whome she will, onely in the Lord.
yaavatkaala. m pati rjiivati taavad bhaaryyaa vyavasthayaa nibaddhaa ti. s.thati kintu patyau mahaanidraa. m gate saa muktiibhuuya yamabhila. sati tena saha tasyaa vivaaho bhavitu. m "saknoti, kintvetat kevala. m prabhubhaktaanaa. m madhye|
40 But shee is more blessed, if she so abide, in my iudgement: and I thinke that I haue also the Spirite of God.
tathaaca saa yadi ni. spatikaa ti. s.thati tarhi tasyaa. h k. sema. m bhavi. syatiiti mama bhaava. h| aparam ii"svarasyaatmaa mamaapyanta rvidyata iti mayaa budhyate|
