1 Corinthians 15
1 Moreouer brethren, I declare vnto you the Gospel, which I preached vnto you, which ye haue also receiued, and wherein ye continue,
Mais je vous rappelle, mes frères, l’Evangile que je vous ai prêché, que vous avez reçu, dans lequel vous demeurez fermes,
2 And whereby ye are saued, if ye keepe in memorie, after what maner I preached it vnto you, except ye haue beleeued in vaine.
Et par lequel vous êtes sauvés, si vous le gardez comme je vous l’ai annoncé; à moins que vous n’ayez cru en vain.
3 For first of all, I deliuered vnto you that which I receiued, how that Christ died for our sinnes, according to the Scriptures,
Car je vous ai transmis en premier lieu, ce que j’ai reçu moi-même: que le Christ est mort pour nos péchés, selon les Ecritures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he arose the third day, according to the Scriptures,
Qu’il a été enseveli, et qu’il est ressuscité le troisième jour, selon les Ecritures;
5 And that he was seene of Cephas, then of the twelue.
Qu’il a été vu de Céphas, puis des onze;
6 After that, he was seene of more then fiue hudreth brethren at once: whereof many remaine vnto this present, and some also are asleepe.
Qu’ensuite il a été vu par plus de cinq cents frères ensemble, dont beaucoup vivent encore aujourd’hui, et quelques-uns se sont endormis;
7 After that, he was seene of Iames: then of all the Apostles.
Qu’après il a été vu de Jacques, puis de tous les apôtres;
8 And last of all he was seene also of me, as of one borne out of due time.
Et qu’enfin, après tous les autres, il s’est fait voir aussi à moi, comme à l’avorton.
9 For I am the least of the Apostles, which am not meete to be called an Apostle, because I persecuted the Church of God.
Car je suis le moindre des apôtres, et je ne suis pas digne d’être appelé apôtre, parce que j’ai persécuté l’Eglise de Dieu.
10 But by the grace of God, I am that I am: and his grace which is in me, was not in vaine: but I laboured more aboundantly then they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which is with me.
Mais c’est par la grâce de Dieu que je suis ce que je suis, et sa grâce n’a pas été stérile en moi, mais plus qu’eux tous, j’ai travaillé, non pas moi toutefois, mais la grâce de Dieu avec moi;
11 Wherefore, whether it were I, or they, so we preach, and so haue ye beleeued.
Ainsi, soit moi, soit eux, voilà ce que nous prêchons et voilà ce que vous avez cru.
12 Now if it be preached, that Christ is risen from the dead, how say some among you, that there is no resurrection of the dead?
Mais si on prêche que le Christ est ressuscité d’entre les morts, comment quelques-uns disent-ils parmi vous qu’il n’y a point de résurrection des morts?
13 For if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
Or s’il n’y a point de résurrection des morts, le Christ n’est point ressuscité.
14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vaine, and your faith is also vaine.
Et si le Christ n’est point ressuscité, notre prédication est donc vaine, et vaine est aussi votre foi;
15 And we are found also false witnesses of God: for we haue testified of God, that he hath raised vp Christ: whome he hath not raised vp, if so be the dead be not raised.
Nous nous trouvons même être de faux témoins à l’égard de Dieu, puisque nous rendons ce témoignage contre Dieu, qu’il a ressuscité le Christ, qu’il n’a pourtant pas ressuscité, si les morts ne ressuscitent point.
16 For if the dead be not raised, then is Christ not raised.
Car si les morts ne ressuscitent point, le Christ non plus n’est pas ressuscité.
17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vaine: ye are yet in your sinnes.
Que si le Christ n’est pas ressuscité, votre foi est vaine; vous êtes encore dans vos péchés.
18 And so they which are a sleepe in Christ, are perished.
Donc ceux aussi qui se sont endormis dans le Christ ont péri.
19 If in this life onely wee haue hope in Christ, we are of all men the most miserable.
Si c’est pour cette vie seulement que nous espérons dans le Christ, nous sommes les plus malheureux de tous les hommes.
20 But nowe is Christ risen from the dead, and was made the first fruites of them that slept.
Mais très certainement le Christ est ressuscité d’entre les morts, comme prémices de ceux qui dorment;
21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
Car par un homme est venue la mort, et par un homme la résurrection des morts.
22 For as in Adam all die, euen so in Christ shall all be made aliue,
Et comme tous meurent en Adam, tous revivront aussi dans le Christ;
23 But euery man in his owne order: the first fruites is Christ, afterward, they that are of Christ, at his comming shall rise againe.
Mais chacun en son rang; le Christ comme prémices, puis ceux qui sont au Christ, qui ont cru en son avènement.
24 Then shalbe the end, when he hath deliuered vp the kingdome to God, euen the Father, when he hath put downe all rule, and all authoritie and power.
La fin suivra, lorsqu’il aura remis le royaume à Dieu et au Père; qu’il aura anéanti toute principauté, toute domination et toute puissance.
25 For he must reigne till hee hath put all his enemies vnder his feete.
Car il faut qu’il règne jusqu’à ce que le Père ait mis tous ses ennemis sous ses pieds.
26 The last enemie that shalbe destroyed, is death.
Or le dernier ennemi détruit sera la mort; car il lui a mis tout sous les pieds. Quand donc l’Ecriture dit:
27 For he hath put downe all things vnder his feete. (And when he saith that all things are subdued to him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put downe all things vnder him.)
Tout lui a été soumis, elle excepte, sans doute, celui qui lui a tout soumis.
28 And when all things shalbe subdued vnto him, then shall the Sonne also himselfe be subiect vnto him, that did subdue all things vnder him, that God may be all in all.
Et lorsque tout lui aura été soumis, alors le Fils lui-même sera soumis à celui qui lui a soumis toutes choses, afin que Dieu soit tout en tous.
29 Els what shall they doe which are baptized for dead? if the dead rise not at all, why are they then baptized for dead?
Autrement, que feront ceux qui sont baptisés pour les morts, si réellement les morts ne ressuscitent point? Pourquoi sont-ils baptisés pour les morts?
30 Why are wee also in ieopardie euery houre?
Et nous, pourquoi à toute heure, nous exposons-nous au danger?
31 By your reioycing which I haue in Christ Iesus our Lord, I die dayly.
Chaque jour, mes frères, je meurs, je le jure, par la gloire que je reçois de vous en Jésus-Christ Notre Seigneur.
32 If I haue fought with beastes at Ephesus after ye maner of men, what aduantageth it me, if the dead be not raised vp? let vs eate and drinke: for to morowe we shall die.
Que me sert (humainement parlant) d’avoir combattu contre les bêtes à Ephèse, si les morts ne ressuscitent point? Mangeons et buvons, car nous mourrons demain.
33 Be not deceiued: euill speakings corrupt good maners.
Ne vous laissez point séduire, les mauvais entretiens corrompent les bonnes mœurs.
34 Awake to liue righteously, and sinne not: for some haue not ye knowledge of God, I speake this to your shame.
Justes, veillez, et ne péchez point, car quelques-uns sont dans l’ignorance de Dieu; je vous le dis pour votre honte.
35 But some man will say, Howe are the dead raised vp? and with what body come they foorth?
Mais, dira quelqu’un: Comment les morts ressuscitent-ils? ou avec quel corps reviendront-ils?
36 O foole, that which thou sowest, is not quickened, except it die.
Insensé, ce que tu sèmes n’est point vivifié, si auparavant il ne meurt.
37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shalbe, but bare corne as it falleth, of wheat, or of some other.
Et ce que tu sèmes n’est pas le corps même qui doit venir, mais une simple graine, comme de blé, ou de quelque autre chose.
38 But God giueth it a body at his pleasure, euen to euery seede his owne body,
Mais Dieu lui donne un corps, comme il veut, de même qu’il donne à chaque semence son corps propre.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beastes, and another of fishes, and another of birdes.
Toute chair n’est pas la même chair; mais autre est celle des hommes, autre celle des brebis, autre celle des oiseaux, autre celle des poissons.
40 There are also heauenly bodies, and earthly bodies: but the glorie of the heauenly is one, and the glorie of the earthly is another.
Il y a aussi des corps célestes et des corps terrestres•• mais autre est la gloire des célestes, autre celle des terrestres.
41 There is another glorie of the sunne, and another glorie of the moone, and another glorie of the starres: for one starre differeth from another starre in glorie.
Autre est la clarté du soleil, autre la clarté de la lune, autre la clarté des étoiles. Une étoile même diffère d’une autre étoile en clarté.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The bodie is sowen in corruption, and is raysed in incorruption.
Ainsi est la résurrection des morts. Le corps est semé dans la corruption, il ressuscitera dans l’incorruptibilité.
43 It is sowen in dishonour, and is raysed in glory: it is sowen in weakenesse, and is raysed in power.
Il est semé dans l’abjection, il ressuscitera dans la gloire; il est semé dans la faiblesse, il ressuscitera dans la force.
44 It is sowen a naturall body, and is raysed a spirituall body: there is a naturall body, and there is a spirituall body.
Il est semé corps animal, il ressuscitera corps spirituel, comme il est écrit:
45 As it is also written, The first man Adam was made a liuing soule: and the last Adam was made a quickening Spirit.
Le premier homme, Adam, a été fait âme vivante; le dernier Adam, esprit vivifiant.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spirituall: but that which is naturall, and afterward that which is spirituall.
Non d’abord ce qui est spirituel, mais ce qui est animal.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthly: the second man is the Lord from heauen.
Le premier homme tiré de la terre est terrestre; le second, venu du ciel, est céleste.
48 As is the earthly, such are they that are earthly: and as is the heauenly, such are they also that are heauenly.
Tel qu’est le terrestre, tels sont les terrestres; tel qu’est le céleste, tels sont les célestes.
49 And as we haue borne the image of the earthly, so shall we beare the image of the heauenly.
Comme donc, nous avons porté l’image du terrestre, portons aussi l’image du céleste.
50 This say I, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherite the kingdome of God, neither doeth corruption inherite incorruption.
Or je dis cela, mes frères, parce que ni la chair ni le sang ne peuvent posséder le royaume de Dieu, et la corruption ne possédera point l’incorruptibilité,
51 Behold, I shewe you a secret thing, We shall not all sleepe, but we shall all be changed,
Voici que je vais vous dire un mystère. Nous ressusciterons bien tous, mais nous ne serons pas tous changés.
52 In a moment, in the twinckling of an eye at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall blow, and the dead shalbe raysed vp incorruptible, and we shalbe changed.
En un moment, en un clin d’oeil, au son de la dernière trompette; car la trompette sonnera, et les morts ressusciteront incorruptibles, et nous, nous serons changés.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption: and this mortall must put on immortalitie.
Puisqu’il faut que ce corps corruptible revête l’incorruptibilité, et que ce corps mortel revête l’immortalité.
54 So when this corruptible hath put on incorruption, and this mortall hath put on immortalitie, then shalbe brought to passe the saying that is written, Death is swallowed vp into victorie.
Et quand ce corps mortel aura revêtu l’immortalité, alors sera accomplie cette parole qui est écrite: La mort a été absorbée dans sa victoire.
Ô mort, où est ta victoire? où est, ô mort, ton aiguillon? (Hadēs g86)
56 The sting of death is sinne: and ye strength of sinne is the Lawe.
Or l’aiguillon de la mort, c’est le péché; et la force du péché, la loi.
57 But thankes be vnto God, which hath giuen vs victorie through our Lord Iesus Christ.
Ainsi, grâces à Dieu, qui nous a donné la victoire par Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ!
58 Therefore my beloued brethren, be ye stedfast, vnmoueable, aboundant alwayes in the worke of the Lord, forasmuch as ye knowe that your labour is not in vaine in the Lord.
C’est pourquoi, mes frères bien-aimés, soyez fermes et inébranlables, vous appliquant toujours de plus en plus à l’œuvre du Seigneur, sachant que votre travail n’est pas vain dans le
