1 Corinthians 14
1 Followe after loue, and couet spirituall giftes, and rather that ye may prophecie.
Habt eifriges Verlangen nach den Geistesgaben, vor allem, daß ihr prophezeien könnt.
2 For hee that speaketh a strange tongue, speaketh not vnto men, but vnto God: for no man heareth him: howbeit in the spirit he speaketh secret things.
Denn wer in einer Sprache redet, spricht nicht für Menschen, sondern für Gott; ihn versteht ja niemand, weil er geheimnisvoll im Geiste redet.
3 But he that prophecieth, speaketh vnto me to edifying, and to exhortation, and to comfort.
Wer aber prophezeit, spricht für Menschen Worte der Ermahnung, der Erbauung und des Trostes.
4 He that speaketh strange language, edifieth himselfe: but hee that prophecieth, edifieth the Church.
Wer in einer Sprache redet, erbaut sich selbst; wer aber prophezeit, erbaut die Gemeinde Gottes.
5 I would that ye all spake strange languages, but rather that ye prophecied: for greater is hee that prophecieth, then hee that speaketh diuers tongues, except hee expound it, that the Church may receiue edification.
Ich wollte, daß ihr insgesamt in Sprachen reden könntet, mehr aber, daß ihr prophezeit. Wer prophezeit, steht nämlich höher, als wer in Sprachen redet, es sei denn, daß er auch die Auslegung noch gebe, damit die Gemeinde erbaut werde.
6 And nowe, brethren, if I come vnto you speaking diuers tongues, what shall I profite you, except I speake to you, either by reuelation, or by knowledge, or by prophecying, or by doctrine?
Meine Brüder, was würde es euch nützen, wenn ich zu euch käme und in Sprachen reden wollte, wenn ich nicht zugleich zu euch auch redete in Offenbarung oder in Erkenntnis, in Prophezeiung oder Lehre?
7 Moreouer things without life which giue a sounde, whether it be a pipe or an harpe, except they make a distinction in the soundes, how shall it be knowen what is piped or harped?
Wenn unbeseelte Instrumente, wie Flöte oder Laute, nur klingen, aber keine Töne unterscheiden ließen, wie soll man da erkennen, was auf der Flöte oder auf der Laute gespielt wird?
8 And also if the trumpet giue an vncertaine sound, who shall prepare himselfe to battell?
Wenn die Trompete nur undeutlich klingt, wer wird zum Kampf antreten?
9 So likewise you, by the tongue, except yee vtter wordes that haue signification, howe shall it be vnderstand what is spoken? for ye shall speake in the ayre.
So ist es auch mit der Sprachengabe: Ist eure Rede, die ihr vorbringt, nicht verständlich, wie soll man dann verstehen, was gesprochen wird? Ihr würdet ja in den Wind reden.
10 There are so many kindes of voyces (as it commeth to passe) in the world, and none of them is dumme.
Es gibt wer weiß wie viele Sprachen in der Welt; nichts ist ja ohne Sprache
11 Except I know then the power of ye voyce, I shall be vnto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh, shalbe a barbarian vnto me.
doch kenne ich den Sinn der Sprache nicht, so bleibe ich für den, der spricht, ein Fremdling, und mir erscheint der Sprechende gleichfalls als Fremdling.
12 Euen so, forasmuch as ye couet spirituall giftes, seeke that ye may excell vnto the edifying of the Church.
So sollt auch ihr, die ihr so sehr euch Gnadengaben wünscht, doch danach trachten, in reicher Fülle solche zu besitzen, die zur Erbauung der Gemeinde dienen.
13 Wherefore, let him that speaketh a strange tongue, pray, that he may interprete.
So möge denn, wer in einer Sprache redet, auch um das Auslegen der Sprache bitten.
14 For if I pray in a strange togue, my spirit prayeth: but mine vnderstading is without fruite.
Wenn ich in einer Sprache bete, so betet zwar mein Geist; doch bleibt mein Verstand ohne Frucht.
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, but I wil pray with the vnderstanding also: I wil sing with the spirite, but I will sing with the vnderstanding also.
Was folgt daraus? Ich will zwar im Geiste beten; doch will ich auch mit dem Verstande beten, und mit dem Geiste will ich lobsingen, doch will ich auch mit dem Verstande lobsingen.
16 Else, when thou blessest with the spirit, howe shall hee that occupieth the roome of the vnlearned, say Amen, at thy giuing of thankes, seeing he knoweth not what thou sayest?
Und wenn du bloß im Geiste dankst, wie soll denn der, der die Stellung eines Nichtchristen einnimmt, zu deiner Danksagung das "Amen" sprechen? Er versteht ja gar nicht, was du sagst.
17 For thou verely giuest thankes well, but the other is not edified.
Dein Dankgebet mag ganz vortrefflich sein, doch der andere wird nicht erbaut.
18 I thanke my God, I speake languages more then ye all.
Gott sei Dank! Die Sprachengabe habe ich besser als ihr alle;
19 Yet had I rather in the Church to speake fiue wordes with mine vnderstanding, that I might also instruct others, then ten thousande wordes in a strange tongue.
doch will ich lieber in der Gemeinde mit meinem Verstand fünf Worte reden, um andere zu belehren, als zehntausend Worte in einer Sprache.
20 Brethren, be not children in vnderstanding, but as concerning maliciousnes be children, but in vnderstanding be of a ripe age.
Brüder! Seid doch keine Kinder an Verständnis, wohl aber Kinder an Bosheit, Erwachsene jedoch an Verständnis.
21 In the Lawe it is written, By men of other tongues, and by other languages will I speake vnto this people: yet so shall they not heare me, sayth the Lord.
Im Gesetze steht geschrieben: "In fremden Sprachen und in fremden Lippen will ich zu diesem Volke reden; doch werden sie auch so nicht auf mich hören, spricht der Herr."
22 Wherefore strange tongues are for a signe, not to them that beleeue, but to them that beleeue not: but prophecying serueth not for them that beleeue not, but for them which beleeue.
So ist die Sprachengabe auch kein Zeichen für die Gläubigen, sondern für die Ungläubigen. Die Prophezeiung aber ist nicht für die Ungläubigen, sondern für die Gläubigen.
23 If therefore when the whole Church is come together in one, and all speake strange tongues, there come in they that are vnlearned, or they which beleeue not, will they not say, that ye are out of your wittes?
Wenn die Gemeinde sich versammelt und alle in Sprachen reden und es kommen dann Nichtchristen oder Ungläubige herein, werden diese dann nicht sagen: "Ihr seid verrückt."
24 But if all prophecie, and there come in one that beleeueth not, or one vnlearned, hee is rebuked of all men, and is iudged of all,
Wenn aber alle prophezeien und tritt dann ein Ungläubiger oder Nichtchrist herein, so wird ihm von allen ins Gewissen geredet; von allen wird er auch überführt:
25 And so are the secrets of his heart made manifest, and so he will fall downe on his face and worship God, and say plainely that God is in you in deede.
Das Verborgene seines Herzens wird geoffenbart; er fällt dann auf sein Antlitz nieder und betet Gott an und bekennt: "Wahrlich, Gott ist in euch."
26 What is to be done then, brethren? when ye come together, according as euery one of you hath a Psalme, or hath doctrine, or hath a tongue, or hath reuelation, or hath interpretation, let all things be done vnto edifying.
Was folgt daraus, meine lieben Brüder? Wenn ihr zusammenkommt, mag jeder von euch einen Lobgesang besitzen, eine Lehre, eine Offenbarung, eine Sprache sowie eine Auslegung; doch alles soll zur Erbauung dienen.
27 If any man speake a strange tongue, let it be by two, or at the most, by three, and that by course, and let one interprete.
Wenn man in Sprachen redet, so sollen es nur zwei tun oder höchstens drei, und diese nacheinander, und einer soll die Auslegung geben.
28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keepe silence in the Church, which speaketh languages, and let him speake to himselfe, and to God.
Ist aber keiner da, der auslegt, so schweige er in der Versammlung. Er mag dann zu Hause und mit Gott reden.
29 Let the Prophets speake two, or three, and let the other iudge.
Propheten sollen nur zwei oder drei reden; die anderen sollen prüfen.
30 And if any thing be reueiled to another that sitteth by, let the first holde his peace.
Wird aber einem anderen, der noch dasitzt, eine Offenbarung zuteil, so soll der erstere schweigen;
31 For ye may all prophecie one by one, that all may learne, and all may haue comfort.
ihr könnt ja alle miteinander prophezeien, damit alle lernen und alle belehrt werden.
32 And the spirits of the Prophets are subiect to the Prophets.
Prophetengeister haben sich den Propheten zu fügen;
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as we see in all ye Churches of the Saints.
denn Gott ist nicht für Unordnung, sondern für den Frieden. Wie in allen Gemeinden der Heiligen
34 Let your women keepe silence in the Churches: for it is not permitted vnto them to speake: but they ought to be subiect, as also the Lawe sayth.
sollen die Frauen in der Versammlung schweigen. Es steht ihnen nicht zu, zu reden, vielmehr sich unterzuordnen; so steht es ja auch im Gesetze.
35 And if they will learne any thing, let them aske their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speake in the Church.
Doch wenn sie etwas lernen wollen, sollen sie zu Hause ihre Männer fragen; es paßt sich nicht für eine Frau, in den Versammlungen zu reden.
36 Came the worde of God out from you? either came it vnto you onely?
Oder ging wohl von euch das Gotteswort hinaus, oder kam es zu euch allein?
37 If any man thinke him selfe to be a Prophet, or spirituall, let him acknowledge, that the things, that I write vnto you, are the commandements of the Lord.
Wenn einer meint, er sei ein Prophet oder sonst ein Geistbegabter, so soll er anerkennen, daß das, was ich euch schreibe, ein Gebot des Herrn ist.
38 And if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
Erkennt er dies nicht an, so soll auch er nicht anerkannt werden.
39 Wherefore, brethren, couet to prophecie, and forbid not to speake languages.
So trachtet denn, meine Brüder, nach der Prophetengabe; doch hindert nicht das Sprachenreden.
40 Let all things be done honestly, and by order.
Alles aber möge mit Anstand und Ordnung geschehen.
