1 Corinthians 1
1 Paul called to be an Apostle of Iesus Christ, through the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,
Mimi Paulo, niliyeitwa kuwa mtume wa Kristo Yesu kwa mapenzi ya Mungu, na ndugu Sosthene,
2 Vnto the Church of God, which is at Corinthus, to them that are sanctified in Christ Iesus, Saintes by calling, with all that call on the Name of our Lord Iesus Christ in euery place, both their Lord, and ours:
tunawaandikia ninyi mlio kanisa la Mungu huko Korintho. Ninyi mmefanywa watakatifu katika kuungana na Kristo Yesu, mkaitwa muwe watu wa Mungu, pamoja na watu wote popote wanaomwomba Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo aliye Bwana wao na wetu pia.
3 Grace be with you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Iesus Christ.
Nawatakieni neema na amani kutoka kwa Mungu Baba yetu na Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.
4 I thanke my God alwayes on your behalfe for the grace of God, which is giuen you in Iesus Christ,
Ninamshukuru Mungu wangu daima kwa ajili yenu kwa sababu amewatunukia ninyi neema yake kwa njia ya Kristo Yesu.
5 That in all things ye are made rich in him, in all kinde of speach, and in all knowledge:
Maana, kwa kuungana na Kristo mmetajirishwa katika kila kitu. Mmejaliwa elimu yote na uwezo wote wa kuhubiri,
6 As the testimonie of Iesus Christ hath bene confirmed in you:
kwani, ujumbe juu ya Kristo umethibitishwa ndani yenu,
7 So that ye are not destitute of any gift: wayting for the appearing of our Lord Iesus Christ.
hata hampungukiwi kipaji chochote cha kiroho mkiwa mnangojea kufunuliwa kwake Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.
8 Who shall also confirme you vnto the ende, that ye may be blamelesse, in the day of our Lord Iesus Christ.
Yeye atawaimarisha ninyi mpaka mwisho mpate kuonekana bila hatia Siku ile ya Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo.
9 God is faithfull, by whom ye are called vnto the fellowship of his Sonne Iesus Christ our Lord.
Mungu ni mwaminifu; yeye aliwaita ninyi muwe na umoja na Mwanae Yesu Kristo Bwana wetu.
10 Nowe I beseeche you, brethren, by the Name of our Lord Iesus Christ, that ye all speake one thing, and that there be no dissensions among you: but be ye knit together in one mind, and in one iudgement.
Ndugu, ninawasihi kwa jina la Bwana wetu Yesu Kristo: pataneni nyote katika kila jambo msemalo; yasiweko mafarakano kati yenu; muwe na fikira moja na nia moja.
11 For it hath bene declared vnto me, my brethren, of you by them that are of the house of Cloe, that there are contentions among you.
Ndugu zangu, habari nilizopata kutoka kwa watu kadhaa wa jamaa ya Kloe, zaonyesha wazi kwamba kuna kutoelewana kati yenu.
12 Nowe this I say, that euery one of you saith, I am Pauls, and I am Apollos, and I am Cephas, and I am Christs.
Nataka kusema hivi: kila mmoja anasema chake: mmoja husema, “Mimi ni wa Paulo,” mwingine: “Mimi ni wa Apolo,” mwingine: “Mimi ni wa Kefa,” na mwingine: “Mimi ni wa Kristo,”.
13 Is Christ deuided? was Paul crucified for you? either were ye baptized into the name of Paul?
Je, Kristo amegawanyika? Je, Paulo ndiye aliyesulubiwa kwa ajili yenu? Au je, mlibatizwa kwa jina la Paulo?
14 I thanke God, that I baptized none of you, but Crispus, and Gaius,
Namshukuru Mungu kwamba sikumbatiza mtu yeyote miongoni mwenu isipokuwa tu Krispo na Gayo.
15 Lest any should say, that I had baptized into mine owne name.
Kwa hiyo hakuna awezaye kusema amebatizwa kwa jina langu.
16 I baptized also the houshold of Stephanas: furthermore knowe I not, whether I baptized any other.
(Samahani, nilibatiza pia jamaa ya Stefana; lakini zaidi ya hawa, sidhani kama nilimbatiza mtu mwingine yeyote.)
17 For CHRIST sent me not to baptize, but to preache the Gospel, not with wisdome of wordes, lest the crosse of Christ should be made of none effect.
Kristo hakunituma kubatiza, bali kuhubiri Habari Njema; tena, niihubiri bila kutegemea maarifa ya hotuba za watu kusudi nguvu ya kifo cha Kristo msalabani isibatilishwe.
18 For that preaching of the crosse is to them that perish, foolishnesse: but vnto vs, which are saued, it is the power of God.
Maana ujumbe kuhusu kifo cha Kristo msalabani ni jambo la kipumbavu kwa wale walio katika mkumbo wa kupotea, lakini kwetu sisi tulio katika njia ya wokovu ujumbe huo ni nguvu ya Mungu.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisedome of the wise, and will cast away the vnderstanding of the prudent.
Maana Maandiko Matakatifu yasema: “Nitaiharibu hekima yao wenye hekima, na elimu ya wataalamu nitaitupilia mbali.”
20 Where is the wise? where is the Scribe? where is the disputer of this worlde? hath not God made the wisedome of this worlde foolishnesse? (aiōn g165)
Yu wapi basi, mwenye hekima? Yu wapi basi, mwalimu wa Sheria? Naye bingwa wa mabishano wa nyakati hizi yuko wapi? Mungu ameifanya hekima ya ulimwengu kuwa upumbavu. (aiōn g165)
21 For seeing the worlde by wisedome knewe not God in the wisedome of GOD, it pleased God by the foolishnesse of preaching to saue them that beleeue:
Maana, kadiri ya hekima ya Mungu, watu hawawezi kumjua Mungu kwa njia ya hekima yao wenyewe. Badala yake, Mungu amependa kuwaokoa wale wanaoamini kwa njia ya kile ambacho wenye hekima wanakiona kuwa ni upumbavu, yaani ujumbe tunaohubiri.
22 Seeing also that the Iewes require a signe, and the Grecians seeke after wisdome.
Wayahudi wanataka ishara, na Wagiriki wanatafuta hekima;
23 But wee preach Christ crucified: vnto the Iewes, euen a stumbling blocke, and vnto the Grecians, foolishnesse:
lakini sisi tunamhubiri Kristo aliyesulubiwa. Kwa Wayahudi jambo hili ni kikwazo, na kwa watu wa mataifa ni upumbavu;
24 But vnto them which are called, both of the Iewes and Grecians, we preach Christ, the power of God, and the wisedome of God.
lakini kwa wale walioitwa, Wayahudi kwa Wagiriki, Kristo ni nguvu ya Mungu na hekima ya Mungu.
25 For the foolishnesse of God is wiser then men, and the weakenesse of God is stronger then men.
Maana kinachoonekana kuwa ni upumbavu wa Mungu, kina busara zaidi kuliko hekima ya binadamu; na kinachoonekana kuwa ni udhaifu wa Mungu, kina nguvu zaidi kuliko nguvu za binadamu.
26 For brethren, you see your calling, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called.
Ndugu, kumbukeni wakati mlipoitwa: wengi wenu hawakuwa wenye hekima hata kwa fikira za binadamu; wengi hawakuwa wenye nguvu au watu wa tabaka ya juu.
27 But God hath chosen the foolish thinges of the world to confound the wise, and God hath chosen the weake thinges of the worlde, to confound the mightie things,
Ndiyo kusema, Mungu aliyachagua yale ambayo ulimwengu huyaona ni upumbavu, ili awaaibishe wenye hekima; na aliyachagua yale ambayo ulimwengu huyaona ni dhaifu, ili awaaibishe wenye nguvu.
28 And vile things of the worlde and thinges which are despised, hath God chosen, and thinges which are not, to bring to nought thinges that are,
Mungu ameyachagua yale ambayo kwa fikira za dunia ni mambo yaliyo duni na yanayodharauliwa, mambo ambayo hata hayakuwako, ili kwa hayo ayafutilie mbali yale ambayo kwa fikira za binadamu ni mambo ya maana.
29 That no flesh shoulde reioyce in his presence.
Basi, hakuna mtu awezaye kujivunia chochote mbele ya Mungu.
30 But ye are of him in Christ Iesus, who of God is made vnto vs wisedome and righteousnesse, and sanctification, and redemption,
Mungu mwenyewe ndiye aliyewaunganisha ninyi na Kristo Yesu. Mungu amemfanya Kristo awe hekima yetu; kwa njia yake sisi tunapatanishwa na Mungu, tunakuwa watu wake Mungu na kukombolewa.
31 That, according as it is written, Hee that reioyceth, let him reioyce in the Lord.
Basi, kama yasemavyo Maandiko Matakatifu: “Mwenye kutaka kujivuna, basi, na ajivunie kazi ya Bwana.”
