1 Chronicles 4

1 The sonnes of Iudah were Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

اینها از اعقاب یهودا هستند: فارص، حصرون، کرمی، حور و شوبال.

2 And Reaiah the sonne of Shobal begat Iahath, and Iahath begate Ahumai, and Lahad: these are the families of the Zoreathites.

رایا پسر شوبال، پدر یحت، و یحت پدر اخومای و لاهد بود. ایشان به طایفه‌های صرعاتی معروف بودند.

3 And these were of the father of Etam, Izreel, and Ishma and Idbash: and the name of their sister was Hazelelponi.

حور پسر ارشد افرات بود و فرزندانش شهر بیت‌لحم را بنا نهادند. حور سه پسر داشت: عیطام، فنوئیل و عازر. عیطام نیز سه پسر داشت: یزرعیل، یشما و یدباش. دختر او هصللفونی نام داشت. فنوئیل شهر جدور را بنا کرد و عازر شهر حوشه را.

4 And Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah: these are the sonnes of Hur the eldest sonne of Ephratah, the father of Beth-lehem.

5 But Asher the father of Tekoa had two wiues, Heleah, and Naarah.

اشحور، بانی شهر تقوع، دو زن داشت به نامهای حلا و نعره.

6 And Naarah bare him Ahuzam, and Hepher, and Temeni and Haashtari: these were the sonnes of Naarah.

نعره این پسران را به دنیا آورد: اخزام، حافر، تیمانی و اخشطاری.

7 And the sonnes of Heleah were Zereth, Iezohar and Ethnan.

حلا نیز صاحب این پسران شد: صرت، صوحر و اتنان.

8 Also Coz begate Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the sonne of Harum.

قوس پدر عانوب و صوبیبه بود و جد طایفه‌هایی که از اخرحیل پسر هاروم به وجود آمدند.

9 But Iabez was more honourable then his brethren: and his mother called his name Iabez, saying, Because I bare him in sorowe.

مردی بود به نام یعبیص که در بین خاندان خود بیش از همه مورد احترام بود. مادرش به این علّت نام او را یعبیص گذاشت چون با درد شدید او را زاییده بود. (یعبیص به معنی «درد» است.)

10 And Iabez called on the God of Israel, saying, If thou wilt blesse me in deede, and enlarge my coastes, and if thine hand be with me, and thou wilt cause me to be deliuered from euill, that I be not hurt. And God graunted the thing that he asked.

اما یعبیص نزد خدای اسرائیل اینطور دعا کرد: «ای خدا مرا برکت ده و سرزمین مرا وسیع گردان. با من باش و مرا از مصیبتها دور نگه دار تا رنج نکشم.» و خدا دعای او را اجابت فرمود.

11 And Chelub the brother of Shuah begate Mehir, which was the father of Eshton.

کالیب، برادر شوحه، پسری داشت به نام محیر. محیر پدر اشتون بود.

12 And Eshton begate Beth-rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of the citie of Nahash: these are the men of Rechah.

اشتون پدر بیت رافا، فاسیح و تحنه بود. تحنه بانی شهر ناحاش بود. همهٔ اینها اهل ریقه بودند.

13 And the sonnes of Kenaz were Othniel and Zeraiah, and the sonne of Othniel, Hathath.

و پسران قناز عتنی‌ئیل و سرایا بودند. حتات و معوتونای پسران عتنی‌ئیل بودند.

14 And Meonothai begate Ophrah. And Seraiah begate Ioab the father of the valley of craftesmen: for they were craftesmen.

عفره پسر معونوتای بود. یوآب، پسر سرایا، بنیانگذار «درهٔ صنعتگران» بود. (این دره بدان جهت درهٔ صنعتگران نامیده شد چون بسیاری از صنعتگران در آنجا زندگی می‌کردند.)

15 And the sonnes of Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh were Iru, Elah, and Naam. And the sonne of Elah was Kenaz.

پسران کالیب (پسر یفنه) عبارت بودند از: عیرو، ایله، ناعم. ایله پدر قناز بود.

16 And the sonnes of Iehaleel were Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asareel.

پسران یهلل‌ئیل اینها بودند: زیف، زیفه، تیریا و اسرئیل.

17 And the sonnes of Ezrah were Iether and Mered, and Epher, and Ialon, and he begate Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.

پسران عزره اینها بودند: یتر، مرد، عافر و یالون. مرد با دختر پادشاه مصر به نام بتیه ازدواج کرد و صاحب یک دختر به نام مریم و دو پسر به نامهای شمای و یشبح (جد اشتموع) شد. مرد از زن یهودی خود نیز صاحب سه پسر شد به نامهای: یارد، جابر و یقوتی‌ئیل. اینها به ترتیب بانی شهرهای جدور، سوکو و زانوح بودند.

18 Also his wife Iehudiiah bare Iered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Iekuthiel the father of Zanoah: and these are the sonnes of Bithiah ye daughter of Pharaoh which Mered tooke.

19 And the sonnes of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham the father of Keilah were the Garmites, and Eshtemoa the Maachathite.

زن هودیا خواهر نحم بود. یکی از پسرانش جد طایفهٔ قعیلهٔ جرمی و دیگری جد طایفهٔ اشتموع معکاتی شد.

20 And the sonnes of Shimon were Amnon and Rinnah, Ben-hanam and Tilon. And the sonnes of Ishi were Zoheth, and Benzoheth.

پسران شیمون: امنون، رنه، بنحانان و تیلون. پسران یشعی: زوحیت و بنزوحیت.

21 The sonnes of Shelah, the sonne of Iudah were Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the householdes of them that wrought fine linnen in the house of Ashbea.

پسران شیله (پسر یهودا): عیر، بانی شهر لیکه؛ لعده، بانی شهر مریشه؛ طایفه‌های پارچه‌باف که در بیت اشبیع کار می‌کردند؛ یوقیم؛ خاندان کوزیبا؛ یوآش؛ ساراف که در موآب و یشوبی لحم حکومت می‌کرد. (تمام اینها از گزارشهای کهن به جای مانده است.)

22 And Iokim and the men of Chozeba and Ioash, and Saraph, which had the dominion in Moab, and Iashubi Lehem. These also are auncient things.

23 These were potters, and dwelt among plants and hedges: there they dwelt with the king for his worke.

اینها کوزه‌گرانی بودند که در نتاعیم و جدیره سکونت داشتند و برای پادشاه کار می‌کردند.

24 The sonnes of Simeon were Nemuel, and Iamin, Iarib, Zerah, and Shaul,

پسران شمعون: نموئیل، یامین، یاریب، زارح و شائول.

25 Whose sonne was Shallum, and his sonne, Mibsam, and his sonne Mishma.

شائول پدر شلوم، پدر بزرگ مبسام و جد مشماع بود.

26 And the sonnes of Mishma, Hamuel was his sonne, Zacchur his sonne, and Shimei his sonne.

حموئیل (پدر زکور و پدر بزرگ شمعی) هم از پسران مشماع بود.

27 And Shimei had sixteene sonnes, and sixe daughters, but his brethren had not many children, neither was all their familie like to the children of Iudah in multitude.

شمعی شانزده پسر و شش دختر داشت، ولی هیچ‌کدام از برادرانش فرزندان زیادی نداشتند، بنابراین طایفهٔ شمعون به اندازهٔ طایفهٔ یهودا بزرگ نشد.

28 And they dwelt at Beer-sheba, and at Moladah, and at Hazar Shual,

نسل شمعون تا زمان داوود پادشاه در شهرهای زیر زندگی می‌کردند: بئرشبع، مولاده، حصر شوال، بلهه، عاصم، تولاد، بتوئیل، حرمه، صقلغ، بیت‌مرکبوت، حصرسوسیم، بیت‌برئی، شعرایم،

29 And at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,

30 And at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,

31 And at Beth-marcaboth, and at Hazar Susim, at Beth-birei, and at Shaaraim, these were their cities vnto the reigne of Dauid.

32 And their townes were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, fiue cities.

عیطام، عین، رمون، توکن، عاشان

33 And all their townes that were rounde about these cities vnto Baal, These are their habitations and the declaration of their genealogie,

و دهکده‌های اطراف آن تا حدود شهر بعلت.

34 And Meshobab, and Iamlech, and Ioshah the sonne of Amashiah,

اسامی رؤسای طایفه‌های شمعون عبارت بودند از: مشوباب، یملیک، یوشه (پسر اَمَصیا)، یوئیل، ییهو (پسر یوشبیا، نوهٔ سرایا و نبیرهٔ عسی‌ئیل)، الیوعینای، یعکوبه، یشوحایا، عسایا، عدی‌ئیل، یسیمی‌ئیل، بنایا و زیزا (پسر شفعی، شفعی پسر الون، الون پسر یدایا، یدایا پسر شمری و شمری پسر شمعیا). این طایفه‌ها به تدریج بزرگ شدند و در جستجوی چراگاههای بزرگتر برای گله‌های خود به سمت شرقی درهٔ جدور رفتند.

35 And Ioel and Iehu the sonne of Ioshibiah, the sonne of Seraiah, the sonne of Asiel,

36 And Elionai, and Iaakobah, and Ieshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Iesimiel, and Benaiah,

37 And Ziza the sonne of Shiphei, the sonne of Allon, the sonne of Iedaiah, the sonne of Shimri, the sonne of Shemaiah.

38 These were famous princes in their families, and increased greatly their fathers houses.

39 And they went to the entring in of Gedor, euen vnto the East side of the valley, to seeke pasture for their sheepe.

40 And they found fat pasture and good, and a wide land, both quiet and fruitfull: for they of Ham had dwelt there before.

در آنجا آنها سرزمینی وسیع و آرام و ایمن با چراگاههای حاصلخیز پیدا کردند. این سرزمین قبلاً به نسل حام تعلق داشت.

41 And these described by name, came in the dayes of Hezekiah king of Iudah, and smote their tents, and the inhabitants that were found there, and destroyed them vtterly vnto this day, and dwelt in their roume, because there was pasture there for their sheepe.

در دورهٔ سلطنت حِزِقیا، پادشاه یهودا، رؤسای طایفه‌های شمعون به سرزمین نسل حام هجوم بردند و خیمه‌ها و خانه‌های آنها را خراب کردند، ساکنان آنجا را کشتند و زمین را به تصرف خود درآوردند، زیرا در آنجا چراگاههای زیادی وجود داشت.

42 And besides these, fiue hundreth men of the sonnes of Simeon went to mount Seir, and Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rophaiah, and Vzziel the sonnes of Ishi were their captaines,

سپس پانصد نفر از این افراد مهاجم که از قبیلهٔ شمعون بودند به کوه سعیر رفتند. (رهبران آنها فلطیا، نعریا، رفایا و عزی‌ئیل و همه پسران یشیع بودند.)

43 And they smote the rest of Amalek that had escaped, and they dwelt there vnto this day.

در آنجا بازماندگان قبیلهٔ عمالیق را از بین بردند و از آن به بعد خودشان در آنجا ساکن شدند.
