1 Chronicles 21
1 And Satan stoode vp against Israel, and prouoked Dauid to nomber Israel.
Satanás se levantó contra Israel e incitó a David a hacer un censo de Israel.
2 Therefore Dauid said to Ioab, and to the rulers of the people, Go, and nomber Israel from Beer-sheba euen to Dan, and bring it to me, that I may knowe the nomber of them.
David dijo a Joab y a los jefes del pueblo: “Vayan a contar a Israel desde Beerseba hasta Dan, y tráiganme la noticia para que yo sepa cuántos son.”
3 And Ioab answered, The Lord increase his people an hundreth times so many as they be, O my lord the King: are they not all my lords seruats? wherefore doeth my lord require this thing? why should he be a cause of trespasse to Israel?
Joab dijo: “Que Yahvé haga que su pueblo sea cien veces mayor que ellos. Pero, mi señor el rey, ¿no son todos ellos siervos de mi señor? ¿Por qué mi señor exige esto? ¿Por qué será causa de culpa para Israel?”
4 Neuerthelesse the Kings word preuailed against Ioab. And Ioab departed and went thorowe all Israel, and returned to Ierusalem.
Sin embargo, la palabra del rey prevaleció contra Joab. Por eso Joab partió y recorrió todo Israel, y luego llegó a Jerusalén.
5 And Ioab gaue the nomber and summe of the people vnto Dauid: and all Israel were eleuen hundreth thousande men that drewe sword: and Iudah was foure hundreth and seuentie thousande men that drewe sword.
Joab dio a David la suma del censo del pueblo. Todos los de Israel eran un millón cien mil hombres que sacaban espada; y en Judá había cuatrocientos setenta mil hombres que sacaban espada.
6 But the Leuites and Beniamin counted he not among them: for the Kings worde was abominable to Ioab.
Pero no contó a Leví y a Benjamín entre ellos, porque la palabra del rey era abominable para Joab.
7 And God was displeased with this thing: therefore he smote Israel.
A Dios le disgustó este hecho, por lo que golpeó a Israel.
8 Then Dauid saide vnto God, I haue sinned greatly, because I haue done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, remooue the iniquitie of thy seruant: for I haue done very foolishly.
David dijo a Dios: “He pecado mucho, pues he hecho esto. Pero ahora quita, te ruego, la iniquidad de tu siervo, porque he hecho una gran locura”.
9 And the Lord spake vnto Gad Dauids Seer, saying,
Yahvé habló a Gad, el vidente de David, diciendo:
10 Goe and tell Dauid, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I offer thee three thinges: choose thee one of them, that I may doe it vnto thee.
“Ve y habla a David, diciendo: “Yahvé dice: “Te ofrezco tres cosas. Escoge una de ellas, para que te la haga””.
11 So Gad came to Dauid, and sayde vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Take to thee
Gad se acercó a David y le dijo: “Yahvé dice: ‘Elige:
12 Either three yeeres famine, or three moneths to be destroyed before thine aduersaries, and the sworde of thine enemies to take thee, or els the sworde of the Lord and pestilence in the lande three dayes, that the Angel of the Lord may destroy throughout all the coastes of Israel: nowe therefore aduise thee, what word I shall bring againe to him that sent me.
o tres años de hambre; o tres meses para ser consumido ante tus enemigos, mientras la espada de tus enemigos te alcanza; o bien tres días de la espada de Yahvé, con pestilencia en la tierra, y el ángel de Yahvé destruyendo por todos los límites de Israel. Ahora, pues, considera qué respuesta daré al que me envió”.
13 And Dauid said vnto Gad, I am in a wonderfull strait. let me nowe fall into the hande of the Lord: for his mercies are exceeding great, and let me not fall into the hande of man.
David dijo a Gad: “Estoy en apuros. Te ruego que me dejes caer en la mano de Yahvé, porque sus misericordias son muy grandes. No me dejes caer en la mano del hombre”.
14 So the Lord sent a pestilence in Israel, and there fell of Israel seuentie thousande men.
Entonces Yahvé envió una peste sobre Israel, y cayeron setenta mil hombres de Israel.
15 And God sent the Angel into Ierusalem to destroy it. And as he was destroying, the Lord behelde, and repented of the euill and sayde to the Angel that destroyed, It is nowe ynough, let thine hande cease. Then the Angel of the Lord stoode by the thresshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite.
Dios envió un ángel a Jerusalén para destruirla. Cuando estaba a punto de destruirla, Yahvé lo vio, y cedió ante el desastre, y le dijo al ángel destructor: “Es suficiente. Ahora retira tu mano”. El ángel de Yahvé estaba junto a la era de Ornán el jebuseo.
16 And Dauid lift vp his eyes, and sawe the Angel of the Lord stande betweene the earth and the heauen with his sworde drawen in his hand, and stretched out towarde Ierusalem. Then Dauid and the Elders of Israel, which were clothed in sacke, fell vpon their faces.
David alzó los ojos y vio al ángel de Yahvé de pie entre la tierra y el cielo, con una espada desenvainada en la mano extendida sobre Jerusalén. Entonces David y los ancianos, vestidos de saco, se postraron sobre sus rostros.
17 And Dauid said vnto God, Is it not I that commanded to nomber the people? It is euen I that haue sinned and haue committed euil, but these sheepe what haue they done? O Lord my God, I beseech thee, let thine hande be on me and on my fathers house, and not on thy people for their destruction.
David dijo a Dios: “¿No fui yo quien mandó contar al pueblo? Soy yo quien ha pecado y ha hecho mucha maldad; pero estas ovejas, ¿qué han hecho? Por favor, que tu mano, oh Yahvé, mi Dios, sea contra mí y contra la casa de mi padre; pero no contra tu pueblo, para que sea azotado.”
18 Then the Angel of the Lord commanded Gad to say to Dauid, that Dauid should goe vp, and set vp an altar vnto the Lord in the thresshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite.
Entonces el ángel de Yahvé ordenó a Gad que dijera a David que subiera a levantar un altar a Yahvé en la era de Ornán el jebuseo.
19 So Dauid went vp according to the saying of Gad, which he had spoken in the Name of the Lord.
David subió por la palabra de Gad, que habló en nombre de Yahvé.
20 And Ornan turned about, and sawe the Angel, and his foure sonnes, that were with him, hid them selues, and Ornan thresshed wheat.
Ornán se volvió y vio al ángel, y sus cuatro hijos que estaban con él se escondieron. Ornán estaba trillando trigo.
21 And as Dauid came to Ornan, Ornan looked and sawe Dauid, and went out of the thresshing floore, and bowed himselfe to Dauid with his face to the grounde.
Cuando David se acercó a Ornán, éste miró y vio a David, salió de la era y se inclinó ante David con el rostro en tierra.
22 And Dauid saide to Ornan, Giue me the place of thy thresshing floore, that I may builde an altar therein vnto the Lord: giue it me for sufficient money, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
Entonces David le dijo a Ornán: “Véndeme el lugar de esta era, para que construya en él un altar a Yahvé. Me lo venderás por el precio completo, para que la peste deje de afligir al pueblo”.
23 Then Ornan saide vnto Dauid, Take it to thee, and let my lord the King do that which seemeth him good: loe, I giue thee bullockes for burnt offrings, and thresshing instruments for wood, and wheat for meate offring, I giue it all.
Ornán dijo a David: “Tómalo para ti, y deja que mi señor el rey haga lo que es bueno a sus ojos. He aquí que yo doy los bueyes para los holocaustos, y los trillos para la leña, y el trigo para la ofrenda. Lo doy todo”.
24 And King Dauid saide to Ornan, Not so: but I will bye it for sufficient money: for I wil not take that which is thine for the Lord, nor offer burnt offrings without cost.
El rey David le dijo a Ornán: “No, pero ciertamente lo compraré por el precio completo. Porque no tomaré lo que es tuyo para Yahvé, ni ofreceré un holocausto que no me cueste nada”.
25 So Dauid gaue to Ornan for that place sixe hundreth shekels of golde by weight.
Entonces David le dio a Ornán seiscientos siclos de oro en peso para el lugar.
26 And Dauid built there an altar vnto the Lord, and offred burnt offrings, and peace offrings, and called vpon the Lord, and he answered him by fire from heauen vpon the altar of burnt offring.
David edificó allí un altar a Yahvé, y ofreció holocaustos y ofrendas de paz, e invocó a Yahvé; y éste le respondió desde el cielo con fuego sobre el altar de los holocaustos.
27 And when the Lord had spoken to the Angel, he put vp his sworde againe into his sheath.
Entonces Yahvé ordenó al ángel, y éste volvió a enfundar su espada.
28 At that time when Dauid sawe that the Lord had heard him in the thresshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite, then he sacrificed there.
En aquel tiempo, cuando David vio que Yahvé le había respondido en la era de Ornán el jebuseo, sacrificó allí.
29 (But the Tabernacle of the Lord which Moses had made in the wildernesse, and the altar of burnt offring were at that season in the hie place at Gibeon.
Porque el tabernáculo de Yahvé, que Moisés hizo en el desierto, y el altar de los holocaustos, estaban entonces en el lugar alto de Gabaón.
30 And Dauid could not go before it to aske counsel at God: for he was afraide of the sworde of the Angel of the Lord.)
Pero David no pudo presentarse ante él para consultar a Dios, pues tenía miedo a causa de la espada del ángel de Yahvé.
