1 Chronicles 17
1 Nowe afterward when Dauid dwelt in his house, he saide to Nathan the Prophet, Beholde, I dwell in an house of cedar trees, but the Arke of the Lordes couenant remaineth vnder curtaines.
Et il arriva, comme David habitait dans sa maison, que David dit à Nathan, le prophète: Voici, moi j’habite dans une maison de cèdres, et l’arche de l’alliance de l’Éternel est sous des tapis.
2 Then Nathan said to Dauid, Do all that is in thine heart: for God is with thee.
Et Nathan dit à David: Fais tout ce qui est dans ton cœur, car Dieu est avec toi.
3 And the same night euen the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
Et il arriva, cette nuit-là, que la parole de Dieu vint à Nathan, disant:
4 Goe, and tell Dauid my seruant, Thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not buylde me an house to dwell in:
Va, et dis à David, mon serviteur: Ainsi dit l’Éternel: Tu ne me bâtiras pas de maison pour y habiter;
5 For I haue dwelt in no house, since the day that I brought out the childre of Israel vnto this daye, but I haue bene from tent to tent, and from habitation to habitation.
car je n’ai pas habité dans une maison, depuis le jour où j’ai fait monter Israël, jusqu’à ce jour; mais j’ai été de tente en tente, et de demeure [en demeure].
6 Wheresoeuer I haue walked with all Israel spake I one word to any of the iudges of Israel (whome I commanded to feede my people) saying, Why haue ye not built mee an house of cedar trees?
Partout où j’ai marché au milieu de tout Israël, ai-je dit un mot à l’un des juges d’Israël, à qui j’ai commandé de paître mon peuple, en disant: Pourquoi ne me bâtissez-vous pas une maison de cèdres?
7 Nowe therefore thus shalt thou say vnto my seruant Dauid, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, I tooke thee from the sheepecoat and from following the sheepe, that thou shouldest bee a prince ouer my people Israel.
Et maintenant, tu diras ainsi à mon serviteur, à David: Ainsi dit l’Éternel des armées: Je t’ai pris des parcs, d’auprès du menu bétail, pour que tu sois prince sur mon peuple Israël;
8 And I haue bene with thee whithersoeuer thou hast walked, and haue destroyed all thine enemies out of thy sight, and haue made thee a name, like the name of the great men that are in the earth.
et j’ai été avec toi partout où tu as marché; et j’ai retranché tous tes ennemis de devant toi, et je t’ai fait un nom, comme le nom des grands qui sont sur la terre.
9 (Also I will appoynt a place for my people Israel, and will plant it, that they may dwell in their place, and moue no more: neither shall the wicked people vexe them any more, as at the beginning,
Et j’ai établi un lieu à mon peuple Israël, et je le planterai, et il habitera chez lui, et ne sera plus agité; et les fils d’iniquité ne le consumeront plus comme au commencement,
10 And since the time that I commanded iudges ouer my people Israel) And I wil subdue all thine enemies: therefore I say vnto thee, that the Lord wil buylde thee an house.
et depuis les jours où j’ai établi des juges sur mon peuple Israël. Et je subjuguerai tous tes ennemis; et je t’annonce que l’Éternel te bâtira une maison.
11 And when thy dayes shalbe fulfilled to go with thy fathers, then will I rayse vp thy seede after thee, which shalbe of thy sonnes, and will stablish his kingdome.
Et il arrivera, quand tes jours seront accomplis pour t’en aller vers tes pères, que je susciterai après toi ta semence, qui sera un de tes fils, et j’affermirai son royaume.
12 He shall builde me an house, and I will stablish his throne for euer.
Lui, me bâtira une maison; et j’affermirai son trône pour toujours.
13 I wil be his father, and he shalbe my sonne, aud I will not take my mercie away from him, as I tooke it from him that was before thee.
Moi, je lui serai pour père, et lui me sera pour fils; et je ne retirerai pas d’avec lui ma bonté, comme je l’ai retirée de celui qui a été avant toi;
14 But I wil establish him in mine house, and in my kingdome for euer, and his throne shalbe stablished for euer,
et je l’établirai dans ma maison et dans mon royaume à toujours, et son trône sera affermi pour toujours.
15 According to all these wordes, and according to al this vision. So Nathan spake to Dauid.
Nathan parla ainsi à David, selon toutes ces paroles et selon toute cette vision.
16 And Dauid the King went in and sate before the Lord and said, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
Et le roi David entra et s’assit devant l’Éternel, et dit: Qui suis-je, Éternel Dieu! et quelle est ma maison, que tu m’aies amené jusqu’ici?
17 Yet thou esteeming this a small thing, O God, hast also spoken concerning the house of thy seruaut for a great while, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of hie degree, O Lord God.
Et cela a été peu de chose à tes yeux, ô Dieu! et tu as parlé de la maison de ton serviteur pour un long avenir, et tu m’as regardé selon le rang d’un homme haut élevé, ô Éternel Dieu!
18 What can Dauid desire more of thee for the honour of thy seruant? for thou knowest thy seruant.
Que pourrait te [dire] encore David pour la gloire de ton serviteur? Et toi, tu connais ton serviteur.
19 O Lord, for thy seruantes sake, euen according to thine heart hast thou done all this great thing to declare all magnificence.
Ô Éternel! tu as fait toute cette grande chose à cause de ton serviteur, et selon ton cœur, pour faire connaître toutes ces grandes choses.
20 Lord, there is none like thee, neither is there any God besides thee, according to all that we haue heard with our eares.
Ô Éternel! il n’y en a point comme toi, et il n’y a point de Dieu si ce n’est toi, selon tout ce que nous avons entendu de nos oreilles.
21 Moreouer what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whose God went to redeeme them to be his people, and to make thy selfe a Name, and to doe great and terrible things by casting out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast deliuered out of Egypt?
Et qui est comme ton peuple Israël, seule nation sur la terre que Dieu soit allé racheter, afin qu’elle lui soit un peuple, … pour te faire un nom, par de grands et terribles [actes], en chassant les nations de devant ton peuple, que tu as racheté d’Égypte?
22 For thou hast ordeined thy people Israel to be thine owne people for euer, and thou Lord art become their God.
Et tu t’es fait de ton peuple Israël un peuple, à toujours; et toi, Éternel, tu es devenu leur Dieu.
23 Therefore nowe Lord, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy seruant and concerning his house, be confirmed for euer, and doe as thou hast sayd,
Et maintenant, ô Éternel, que la parole que tu as prononcée touchant ton serviteur et touchant sa maison soit ferme à toujours, et fais comme tu as dit;
24 And let thy name be stable and magnified for euer, that it may be sayd, The Lord of hostes, God of Israel, is the God of Israel, and let the house of Dauid thy seruant bee stablished before thee.
et que cela soit ferme, et que ton nom soit magnifié à toujours, de sorte qu’on dise: L’Éternel des armées, le Dieu d’Israël, est Dieu à Israël. Et que la maison de David, ton serviteur, soit affermie devant toi!
25 For thou, O my God, hast reueiled vnto the eare of thy seruant, that thou wilt builde him an house: therefore thy seruant hath bene bolde to pray before thee.
Car toi, ô mon Dieu, tu as révélé à ton serviteur que tu lui bâtiras une maison; c’est pourquoi ton serviteur a trouvé [dans son cœur] de te présenter [cette] prière.
26 Therefore nowe Lord (for thou art God, and hast spoken this goodnesse vnto thy seruant)
Et maintenant, ô Éternel, toi, tu es Dieu, et tu as dit ce bien à ton serviteur.
27 Now therfore, it hath pleased thee to blesse the house of thy seruant, that it may bee before thee for euer: for thou, O Lord, hast blessed it, and it shalbe blessed for euer.
Et maintenant, qu’il te plaise de bénir la maison de ton serviteur, afin qu’elle soit à toujours devant toi; car toi, ô Éternel, tu l’as bénie, et elle sera bénie pour toujours.
