1 Chronicles 14
1 Then sent Hiram the King of Tyrus messengers to Dauid, and cedar trees, with masons and carpenters to builde him an house.
Chiram, re di Tiro, mandò messaggeri a Davide con legno di cedro, muratori e falegnami per costruirgli una casa.
2 Therefore Dauid knewe that the Lord had confirmed him King ouer Israel, and that his kingdome was lift vp on hie, because of his people Israel.
Davide allora riconobbe che il Signore l'aveva confermato re su Israele e che il suo regno era molto esaltato a causa del suo popolo Israele.
3 Also Dauid tooke moe wiues at Ierusalem, and Dauid begate moe sonnes and daughters.
Davide prese altre mogli in Gerusalemme e generò figli e figlie.
4 And these are the names of the children which he had at Ierusalem, Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Salomon,
I figli che gli erano nati in Gerusalemme si chiamavano Sammua, Sobab, Natàn, Salomone,
5 And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
Ibcar, Elisua, Elipelet,
6 And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Iaphia,
Noga, Nefeg, Iafia,
7 And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
Elisamà, Beeliada ed Elifèlet.
8 But when the Philistims heard that Dauid was anointed King ouer Israel, all the Philistims came vp to seeke Dauid. And when Dauid heard, he went out against them.
Quando i Filistei seppero che Davide era stato unto re su tutto Israele, vennero tutti per impadronirsi di lui. Appena ne fu informato, Davide uscì loro incontro.
9 And the Philistims came, and spred them selues in the valley of Rephaim.
I Filistei giunsero e si sparsero per la valle di Rèfaim.
10 Then Dauid asked counsel at God, saying, Shall I goe vp against the Philistims, and wilt thou deliuer them into mine hande? And the Lord saide vnto him, Goe vp: for I will deliuer them into thine hande.
Davide consultò Dio: «Se marcio contro i Filistei, li metterai nelle mie mani?». Il Signore rispose: «Marcia; li metterò nelle tue mani».
11 So they came vp to Baal-perazim, and Dauid smote them there: and Dauid said, God hath deuided mine enemies with mine hande, as waters are deuided: therefore they called the name of that place, Baal-perazim.
Quelli vennero a Baal-Perazìm e là Davide li sconfisse. Questi disse: «Dio ha aperto per mio mezzo una breccia fra i miei nemici, come una breccia prodotta dall'acqua»; per questo il luogo fu chiamato Baal-Perazìm.
12 And there they had left their gods: and Dauid said, Let them euen be burnt with fire.
I Filistei vi abbandonarono i loro idoli e Davide ordinò: «Brucino tra le fiamme!».
13 Againe the Philistims came and spread them selues in the valley.
Di nuovo i Filistei tornarono a invadere la valle.
14 And when Dauid asked againe counsell at God, God said to him, Thou shalt not goe vp after them, but turne away from them, that thou mayest come vpon them ouer against the mulberie trees.
Davide consultò ancora Dio, che gli rispose: «Non seguirli; aggirali e raggiungili dalla parte di Becoim.
15 And when thou hearest the noyse of one going in the toppes of the mulberie trees, then goe out to battel: for God is gone foorth before thee, to smite the hoste of the Philistims.
Quando sentirai rumore di passi fra le cime degli alberi, allora uscirai a combattere, perché Dio ti precederà per colpire l'accampamento dei Filistei».
16 So Dauid did as God had commanded him: and they smote the hoste of the Philistims from Gibeon euen to Gezer.
Davide fece come Dio gli aveva comandato. Sbaragliò l'esercito dei Filistei da Gàbaon fino a Ghezer.
17 And the fame of Dauid went out into all landes, and the Lord brought the feare of him vpon all nations.
La fama di Davide si diffuse in tutti i paesi, mentre il Signore lo rendeva terribile fra tutte le genti.
