1 Chronicles 11
1 Then all Israel gathered themselues to Dauid vnto Hebron, saying, Beholde, we are thy bones and thy flesh.
Tout Israël s’assembla auprès de David à Hébron, en disant: Voici, nous sommes tes os et ta chair.
2 And in time past, euen when Saul was King, thou leddest Israel out and in: and the Lord thy God sayde vnto thee, Thou shalt feede my people Israel, and thou shalt be captaine ouer my people Israel.
Autrefois déjà, même lorsque Saül était roi, c’était toi qui conduisais et qui ramenais Israël. L’Éternel, ton Dieu, t’a dit: Tu paîtras mon peuple d’Israël, et tu seras le chef de mon peuple d’Israël.
3 So came all the Elders of Israel to the King to Hebron, and Dauid made a couenant with them in Hebron before the Lord. And they anoynted Dauid King ouer Israel, according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Samuel.
Ainsi tous les anciens d’Israël vinrent auprès du roi à Hébron, et David fit alliance avec eux à Hébron, devant l’Éternel. Ils oignirent David pour roi sur Israël, selon la parole de l’Éternel, prononcée par Samuel.
4 And Dauid and all Israel went to Ierusalem, which is Iebus, where were the Iebusites, the inhabitants of the land.
David marcha avec tout Israël sur Jérusalem, qui est Jebus. Là étaient les Jébusiens, habitants du pays.
5 And the inhabitants of Iebus said to Dauid, Thou shalt not come in hither. Neuertheles Dauid tooke the towre of Zion, which is the city of Dauid.
Les habitants de Jebus dirent à David: Tu n’entreras point ici. Mais David s’empara de la forteresse de Sion: c’est la cité de David.
6 And Dauid sayd, Whosoeuer smiteth the Iebusites first, shalbe the chiefe and captaine. So Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah went first vp, and was captaine.
David avait dit: Quiconque battra le premier les Jébusiens sera chef et prince. Joab, fils de Tseruja, monta le premier, et il devint chef.
7 And Dauid dwelt in the tower: therefore they called it the citie of Dauid.
David s’établit dans la forteresse; c’est pourquoi on l’appela cité de David.
8 And he built the citie on euery side, from Millo euen round about, and Ioab repaired the rest of the citie.
Il fit tout autour de la ville des constructions, depuis Millo et aux environs; et Joab répara le reste de la ville.
9 And Dauid prospered, and grewe: for the Lord of hostes was with him.
David devenait de plus en plus grand, et l’Éternel des armées était avec lui.
10 These also are the chiefe of the valiant men that were with Dauid, and ioyned their force with him in his kingdome with al Israel, to make him King ouer Israel, according to the worde of the Lord.
Voici les chefs des vaillants hommes qui étaient au service de David, et qui l’aidèrent avec tout Israël à assurer sa domination, afin de l’établir roi, selon la parole de l’Éternel au sujet d’Israël.
11 And this is the nomber of the valiant men whome Dauid had, Iashobeam the sonne of Hachmoni, the chiefe among thirtie: he lift vp his speare against three hundreth, whom he slewe at one time.
Voici, d’après leur nombre, les vaillants hommes qui étaient au service de David. Jaschobeam, fils de Hacmoni, l’un des principaux officiers. Il brandit sa lance sur trois cents hommes, qu’il fit périr en une seule fois.
12 And after him was Eleazar the sonne of Dodo the Ahohite, which was one of the three valiant men.
Après lui, Éléazar, fils de Dodo, l’Achochite, l’un des trois guerriers.
13 He was with Dauid at Pas-dammim, and there the Philistims were gathered together to battel: and there was a parcell of ground full of barley, and the people fled before the Philistims.
Il était avec David à Pas-Dammim, où les Philistins s’étaient rassemblés pour combattre. Il y avait là une pièce de terre remplie d’orge; et le peuple fuyait devant les Philistins.
14 And they stood in the middes of the field, and saued it, and slewe the Philistims: so the Lord gaue a great victorie.
Ils se placèrent au milieu du champ, le protégèrent, et battirent les Philistins. Et l’Éternel opéra une grande délivrance.
15 And three of the thirtie captaines went to a rocke to Dauid, into the caue of Adullam. And the armie of the Philistims camped in the valley of Rephaim.
Trois des trente chefs descendirent auprès de David sur le rocher dans la caverne d’Adullam, lorsque le camp des Philistins était dressé dans la vallée des Rephaïm.
16 And when Dauid was in the hold, the Philistims garison was at Beth-lehem.
David était alors dans la forteresse, et il y avait un poste de Philistins à Bethléhem.
17 And Dauid longed, and said, Oh, that one would giue me to drinke of the water of the well of Beth-lehem that is at the gate.
David eut un désir, et il dit: Qui me fera boire de l’eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléhem?
18 Then these three brake thorowe the hoste of the Philistims, and drewe water out of the well of Beth-lehem that was by the gate, and tooke it and brought it to Dauid: but Dauid would not drinke of it, but powred it for an oblation to the Lord,
Alors les trois hommes passèrent au travers du camp des Philistins, et puisèrent de l’eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléhem. Ils l’apportèrent et la présentèrent à David; mais David ne voulut pas la boire, et il la répandit devant l’Éternel.
19 And said, Let not my God suffer me to do this: should I drinke the blood of these mens liues? for they haue brought it with the ieopardie of their liues: therefore he would not drinke it: these things did these three mightie men.
Il dit: Que mon Dieu me garde de faire cela! Boirais-je le sang de ces hommes qui sont allés au péril de leur vie? Car c’est au péril de leur vie qu’ils l’ont apportée. Et il ne voulut pas la boire. Voilà ce que firent ces trois vaillants hommes.
20 And Abishai the brother of Ioab, he was chiefe of the three, and he lift vp his speare against three hundreth, and slew them, and had the name among the three.
Abischaï, frère de Joab, était le chef des trois. Il brandit sa lance sur trois cents hommes, et les tua; et il eut du renom parmi les trois.
21 Among the three he was more honourable then the two, and he was their captaine: but he attained not vnto the first three.
Il était le plus considéré des trois de la seconde série, et il fut leur chef; mais il n’égala pas les trois premiers.
22 Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada (the sonne of a valiant man) which had done many actes, and was of Kabzeel, he slewe two strong men of Moab: he went downe also and slewe a lion in the middes of a pit in time of snowe.
Benaja, fils de Jehojada, fils d’un homme de Kabtseel, rempli de valeur et célèbre par ses exploits. Il frappa les deux lions de Moab. Il descendit au milieu d’une citerne, où il frappa un lion, un jour de neige.
23 And he slewe an Egyptian, a man of great stature, euen fiue cubites long, and in the Egyptians hand was a speare like a weauers beame: and he went downe to him with a staffe, and plucked the speare out of the Egyptians hand, and slewe him with his owne speare.
Il frappa un Égyptien d’une stature de cinq coudées et ayant à la main une lance comme une ensouple de tisserand; il descendit contre lui avec un bâton, arracha la lance de la main de l’Égyptien, et s’en servit pour le tuer.
24 These things did Benaiah ye sonne of Iehoiada, and had the name among the three worthies.
Voilà ce que fit Benaja, fils de Jehojada; et il eut du renom parmi les trois vaillants hommes.
25 Behold, he was honourable among thirtie, but he attained not vnto the first three. And Dauid made him of his counsell.
Il était le plus considéré des trente; mais il n’égala pas les trois premiers. David l’admit dans son conseil secret.
26 These also were valiant men of warre, Asahel the brother of Ioab, Elhanan the sonne of Dodo of Beth-lehem,
Hommes vaillants de l’armée: Asaël, frère de Joab. Elchanan, fils de Dodo, de Bethléhem.
27 Shammoth the Harodite, Helez the Pelonite,
Schammoth, d’Haror. Hélets, de Palon.
28 Ira the sonne of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Antothite,
Ira, fils d’Ikkesch, de Tekoa. Abiézer, d’Anathoth.
29 Sibbecai the Husathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
Sibbecaï, le Huschatite. Ilaï, d’Achoach.
30 Maharai the Netophathite, Heled ye sonne of Baanah the Netophathite,
Maharaï, de Nethopha. Héled, fils de Baana, de Nethopha.
31 Ithai the sonne of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Beniamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,
Ithaï, fils de Ribaï, de Guibea des fils de Benjamin. Benaja, de Pirathon.
32 Hurai of the riuers of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,
Huraï, de Nachalé-Gaasch. Abiel, d’Araba.
33 Azmaueth the Baharumite, Elihaba the Shaalbonite,
Azmaveth, de Bacharum. Éliachba, de Schaalbon.
34 The sonnes of Hashem the Gizonite, Ionathan the sonne of Shageh the Harite,
Bené-Haschem, de Guizon. Jonathan, fils de Schagué, d’Harar.
35 Ahiam the sonne of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the sonne of Vr,
Achiam, fils de Sacar, d’Harar. Éliphal, fils d’Ur.
36 Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahiiah the Pelonite,
Hépher, de Mekéra. Achija, de Palon.
37 Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the sonne of Ezbai,
Hetsro, de Carmel. Naaraï, fils d’Ezbaï.
38 Ioel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the sonne of Haggeri,
Joël, frère de Nathan. Mibchar, fils d’Hagri.
39 Zelek the Ammonite, Nahrai the Berothite, the armour bearer of Ioab, the sonne of Zeruiah,
Tsélek, l’Ammonite. Nachraï, de Béroth, qui portait les armes de Joab, fils de Tseruja.
40 Ira the Ithrite, Garib the Ithrite,
Ira, de Jéther. Gareb, de Jéther.
41 Vriah the Hittite, Zabad the sonne of Ahlai,
Urie, le Héthien. Zabad, fils d’Achlaï.
42 Adina the sonne of Shiza the Reubenite, a captaine of the Reubenites, and thirtie with him,
Adina, fils de Schiza, le Rubénite, chef des Rubénites, et trente avec lui.
43 Hanan the sonne of Maachah, and Ioshaphat the Mithnite,
Hanan, fils de Maaca. Josaphat, de Mithni.
44 Vzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Ieiel the sonnes of Otham the Aroerite,
Ozias, d’Aschtharoth. Schama et Jehiel, fils de Hotham, d’Aroër.
45 Iediael the sonne of Shimri, and Ioha his brother the Tizite,
Jediaël, fils de Schimri. Jocha, son frère, le Thitsite.
46 Eliel the Mahauite, and Ieribai and Ioshauiah the sonnes of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,
Éliel, de Machavim, Jeribaï et Joschavia, fils d’Elnaam. Jithma, le Moabite.
47 Eliel and Obed, and Iaasiel the Mesobaite.
Éliel, Obed et Jaasiel-Metsobaja.
