1 Chronicles 10
1 Then the Philistims fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled before the Philistims, and fell downe slaine in mount Gilboa.
Los filisteos hicieron guerra contra Israel; y huyeron los israelitas delante de los filisteos, y cayeron traspasados en el monte Gelboé.
2 And the Philistims pursued after Saul and after his sonnes, and the Philistims smote Ionathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua the sonnes of Saul.
Los filisteos persiguieron a Saúl y a sus hijos, y mataron a Jonatán, Abinadab y Melquisúa, hijos de Saúl.
3 And the battel was sore against Saul; and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers.
Entonces se concentró el combate sobre Saúl, pues lo descubrieron los flecheros; y tembló ante los flecheros.
4 Then sayde Saul to his armour bearer, Drawe out thy sworde, and thrust me thorowe therewith, lest these vncircumcised come and mocke at me: but his armour bearer would not, for he was sore afraid: therefore Saul tooke the sword and fell vpon it.
Por lo cual dijo Saúl a su escudero: “Desenvaina tu espada y traspásame con ella; no sea que vengan estos incircuncisos y hagan escarnio de mí.” Mas no quiso su escudero, porque tuvo gran temor. Entonces tomó Saúl su espada y se arrojó sobre ella.
5 And when his armour bearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise vpon the sworde, and dyed.
Cuando su escudero vio que Saúl era muerto, se echó también él sobre su espada y murió.
6 So Saul dyed and his three sonnes, and all his house, they dyed together.
Así murió Saúl con sus tres hijos; y toda su casa murió juntamente con él.
7 And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley, sawe how they fledde, and that Saul and his sonnes were dead, they forsooke their cities, and fled away, and the Philistims came, and dwelt in them.
Entonces todos los hombres de Israel que vivían en el valle, cuando vieron que (los suyos) habían huido y que habían muerto Saúl y sus hijos abandonaron sus ciudades entregándose a la fuga; y vinieron los filisteos para habitar en ellas.
8 And on the morrowe when the Philistims came to spoyle them that were slaine, they found Saul and his sonnes lying in mount Gilboa.
Cuando al día siguiente vinieron los filisteos para despojar a los muertos, hallaron a Saúl y a sus hijos tendidos en el monte Gelboé.
9 And when they had stript him, they tooke his head and his armour, and sent them into the land of the Philistims round about, to publish it vnto their idoles, and to the people.
Lo despojaron y se llevaron su cabeza y sus armas. Después hicieron publicar por mensajeros la buena nueva a sus ídolos y a su pueblo en todo el país de los filisteos.
10 And they layd vp his armour in the house of their god, and set vp his head in the house of Dagon.
Depositaron las armas de Saúl en la casa de sus dioses y clavaron su cabeza en la casa de Dagón.
11 When all they of Iabesh Gilead heard all that the Philistims had done to Saul,
Pero toda Jabés-Galaad al oír lo que los filisteos habían hecho con Saúl,
12 Then they arose (all the valiant men) and tooke the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sonnes, and brought them to Iabesh, and buryed the bones of them vnder an oke in Iabesh, and fasted seuen dayes.
todos los hombres valientes se levantaron, y quitando el cadáver de Saúl, y los cadáveres de sus hijos, los trasladaron a Jabés. Enterraron sus huesos debajo de una encina en Jabés, y ayunaron siete días.
13 So Saul dyed for his transgression, that he committed against the Lord, euen against the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and in that he sought and asked counsel of a familiar spirit,
Saúl murió a causa de las transgresiones que había cometido contra Yahvé, porque no guardó la palabra de Yahvé, y también por haber interrogado y consultado un espíritu pitónico.
14 And asked not of the Lord: therefore he slewe him, and turned the kingdome vnto Dauid the sonne of Ishai.
en vez de consultar a Yahvé; por lo cual Este le hizo morir, y transfirió el reino a David, hijo de Isaí.
