< Zephaniah 1 >
1 This is the message that the Lord gave to Zephaniah. He was the son of Cushti, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah. This happened when Josiah, son of Amon, was king of Judah.
Okwu Onyenwe anyị nke rutere Zefanaya, nwa Kushi, nwa nwa Gedaliya, bụ nwa Amaraya. Amaraya bụ nwa Hezekaya. Ozi a bịara nʼoge Josaya nwa Amọn, bụ eze Juda.
2 I will completely sweep away everything from the face of the earth, declares the Lord.
“Aga m azachapụ ihe niile site nʼelu ụwa,” Otu a ka Onyenwe anyị kwubiri.
3 I will sweep away people and animals, I will sweep away the birds of the air and the fish of the sea. I will overthrow the wicked; I will destroy human beings from the face of the earth.
“Aga m azachapụ mmadụ na anụmanụ. Aga m azachapụ ụmụ anụ ufe niile nke dị nʼeluigwe, zachapụkwa azụ niile nke dị nʼosimiri, na arụsị niile dị iche iche nke na-eme ka ndị ajọ mmadụ sụọ ngọngọ.” “Mgbe m kpochapụrụ mmadụ niile site nʼelu ụwa,” otu a ka Onyenwe anyị kwubiri.
4 I will strike Judah and everyone who lives in Jerusalem. I will destroy all that remains of their Baal worship along with their pagan priests so that even their names will be forgotten.
“Aga m esetipụ aka m megide Juda, megidekwa ndị niile bi na Jerusalem. Aga m ebipụkwa ndị niile na-efe Baal fọdụrụ nʼebe a, na aha ndị nchụaja arụsị niile, ma ndị nchụaja niile na-ekpere arụsị,
5 I will destroy those who go up to the rooftops to bow down before the sun, moon, and stars. They also bow down and swear allegiance to the Lord, but then they do the same to Milcom.
bụ ndị ahụ niile na-anọ nʼelu ụlọ ha na-akpọ isiala nye ọnwa na kpakpando, ha na ndị ahụ niile na-akpọrọ Onyenwe anyị isiala, na-eji aha ya nʼaṅụ iyi, ma na-ejikwa Milkọm na-aṅụ iyi,
6 I will destroy those who once worshiped the Lord but don't anymore. They don't seek the Lord or ask for my help.
na ndị ahụ niile na-alaghachi azụ site nʼiso Onyenwe anyị, na ndị ahụ na-adịghị achọ Onyenwe anyị, maọbụ jụta ase site nʼaka ya.”
7 Be silent before the Lord God! For the day of the Lord is near: the Lord has prepared a sacrifice and consecrated his guests.
Dere duu nʼihu Onye kachasị ihe niile elu, bụ Onyenwe anyị nʼihi na ụbọchị ikpe ya ahụ dị egwu na-abịa nso. Onyenwe anyị ejikerela ịchụ aja; o doola ndị ọ kpọrọ oriri nsọ.
8 Then on the day of the Lord's sacrifice I will punish the officials and the king's sons, and those who follow pagan ways.
“Nʼụbọchị ịchụ aja nke Onyenwe anyị ahụ, aga m ata ndịisi niile na ụmụ eze niile, na ndị niile na-eyi uwe e si na mba ọzọ bubata ahụhụ.
9 I will also punish those who jump over the threshold. On that day I will punish those who fill up their masters' houses using violence and deception.
Nʼụbọchị ahụ, aga m ata ha ahụhụ bụ ndị niile na-adịghị azọ ụkwụ nʼọnụ ụzọ mbata, ndị ji ihe ike na aghụghọ na-emejupụta ụlọ arụsị ha.
10 On that day, declares the Lord, a cry of grief will come from the Fish Gate, a wailing from the Second Quarter, and a loud crash from the hills.
“Nʼụbọchị ahụ,” otu a ka Onyenwe anyị kwubiri ya, “olu iti mkpu akwa ga-esite nʼỌnụ Ụzọ Ama Azụ daa, mkpu nke ịkwasi akwa ike ga-ada site nʼebe obibi ọhụrụ ahụ, na ụzụ oke ntiwa site nʼugwu nta niile.
11 Those who live in the Market District will wail in sorrow, for all the merchants are destroyed, along with those who trade in silver.

12 At that time I will search through Jerusalem with lamps and I will punish those self-satisfied people, who are like wine left on its dregs, who say to themselves, “The Lord will not do good, nor will he do evil.”
Nʼoge ahụ, aga m eji oriọna nyobanyechaa anya nʼakụkụ niile nke Jerusalem. Aga m ata ndị ahụ niile na-anọ nʼahụ dị jụụ ahụhụ, bụ ndị ahụ dọọrọ dịka ike mmanya a ṅụfọdụrụ aṅụfọ, ndị na-eche nʼobi ha sị, ‘O nweghị ihe Onyenwe anyị ga-eme anyị, maọbụ ihe ọma, maọbụ ihe ọjọọ.’
13 Their possessions will be looted; their houses will be demolished. They will build houses, but not live in them; they will plant vineyards, but not drink the wine.
Akụ ha ga-abụ ihe a kwakọrọ nʼike, a ga-akwatukwa ụlọ ha niile. Ọ bụ ezie na ha ga-ewu ụlọ, ma ha agaghị ebi nʼime ha; ọ bụ ezie na ha ga-akọ ubi vaịnị, ma ha agaghị aṅụ mmanya si na ha.”
14 The great day of the Lord is near and approaching rapidly. It will be a bitter day—even warriors will cry out loud.
Oke ụbọchị Onyenwe anyị na-abịa nso, ọ na-abịakwa ọsịịsọ. Gee ntị! Iti mkpu akwa nke ụbọchị Onyenwe anyị ga-adị ilu nke ukwuu. A ga-anụkwa ụzụ ndị bụ dike nʼagha nʼebe ahụ.
15 It will be a day of anger, a day of trouble and distress, a day of disaster and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,

ụbọchị opi ike na iti mkpu agha imegide obodo niile e wusiri ike, na imegide akụkụ ụlọ elu niile.
17 I will bring trouble on humanity, making them walk like blind people because they have sinned against the Lord. Their blood will be spilled like so much dust; their intestines like dung.
“Aga m eme ka oke nhụju anya bịakwasị ndị mmadụ, mee ka ha jegharịa dịka ndị kpuru ìsì, nʼihi na ha emehiela megide Onyenwe anyị. A ga-awụsịkwa ọbara ha dịka uzuzu, tufukwaa anụ ahụ ha dịka nsị anụ.
18 Their silver and their gold won't help to save them on the day of the Lord's anger. The whole earth will be burned up by the fire of his jealous anger. He will make sure the end of the people of the world is sudden and complete.
