< Zechariah 7 >

1 The Lord sent a message to Zechariah on the fourth day of the ninth month, the month of Chislev. This was during the fourth year of king Darius' reign.
Manghai Darius kah a kum li, hla ko, Kislev hnin li vaengah BOEIPA ol loh Zekhariah taengla a pha.
2 Bethel-sharezer sent Regem-melech and his men to ask for the Lord's blessing.
Te vaengah BOEIPA mikhmuh ah nguek hamla a hlang rhoek neh Bethel kah Sharezer neh Regemmelek te a tueih.
3 They were to ask the priests of the Temple of the Lord Almighty and the prophets, “Should I go on mourning and fasting in the fifth month, as I have done for so many years?”
Caempuei BOEIPA im kah khosoih rhoek taeng neh tonghma rhoek taengah a dawt sak tih, “Kum te yet ka saii noek bangla hla nga dongah tah cue uh hamla ka rhap aya?” a ti nah.
4 The Lord Almighty sent a message to me saying,
Tedae caempuei BOEIPA ol he kai taengla pai tih,
5 Tell everyone in the land and the priests, when you fasted and mourned in the fifth month and the seventh month during these seventy years, was it really me you were fasting for?
“Khohmuen pilnam boeih taeng neh khosoih rhoek taengah khaw thui lamtah, ‘Kum sawmrhih lo coeng dae, hla nga neh hla rhih vaengah na yaeh uh tih na rhaengsae uh a? Kai kamah ham nim a yaeh khaw na yaeh uh?
6 And when you eat and drink, don't you eat and drink for yourselves?
Na caak uh vaengah khaw, na ok uh vaengah khaw, namamih loh na caak uh tih namamih loh na ok uh moenih a?
7 Isn't this what the Lord told you to do through the former prophets, when Jerusalem was prosperous and inhabited, and when people were living in the Negev and the Shephelah?
Jerusalem kah kho aka sa neh a kaepvai kah a khopuei rhoek khaw tuithim neh kolrhawk kah kho aka sa khaw thayoeituipan la om ham te BOEIPA loh lamhma kah tonghma rhoek kut dongah a pang puei te ol moenih a?” ti nah,” a ti nah.
8 The Lord Almighty sent another message to me.
Te phoeiah BOEIPA ol tah Zekhariah taengla pai tih,
9 This is what the Lord says. Judge fairly and truthfully. Show mercy and kindness to one another.
“‘Caempuei BOEIPA loh he ni a thui,’ ti nah. Tiktamnah neh oltak la laitloek uh lamtah sitlohnah neh haidamnah he hlang loh a manuca taengah khueh saeh.
10 Don't exploit those who are widowed or fatherless, foreigners or the poor. Don't think up ways of mistreating one other.
Te dongah nuhmai neh cadah khaw, yinlai neh mangdaeng khaw hnaemtaek uh boeh. Hlang loh a manuca te thae sak ham na thinko nen khaw moeh boeh.
11 But they refused to listen. They were obstinate, turning their backs and closing their ears.
Tedae hnatung ham a aal uh tih a nam a duen uh. Boekkoek neh a hnatun ham khaw a hna bing uh.
12 They made their minds unreceptive, as hard as stone. They refused to listen to the law or to what the Lord Almighty told them by his Spirit through the former prophets. That's why the Lord Almighty became very angry with them.
Olkhueng neh ol te a hnatun pangthuem a lungbuei te lungning la a khueh uh. Te te caempuei BOEIPA amah Mueihla rhangneh tonghma lamhma rhoek kut ah ana paek coeng. Te dongah ni caempuei BOEIPA taeng lamloh thinhulnah muep a pai.
13 So since they didn't listen when I called out to them, I wouldn't listen when they called out to me, says the Lord Almighty.
“A khue vaengah a hnatun uh pawt bangla n'khue uh vaengah ka hnatun van mahpawh tila caempuei BOEIPA loh a thui.
14 With the winds of a storm I scattered them among the nations where they lived as foreigners. The land they left became so desolate that no one even traveled through it. They turned the Promised Land into a desert.
Amih he namtom cungkuem taengah ka thikthuek te amamih loh ming uh pawh. Cet tih a mael lamloh amih hnukah khohmuen loh pong coeng. Te dongah khohmuen sahnaih te imsuep la a khueh uh,” a ti.
