< Revelation 6 >

1 I watched as the Lamb broke open the first of the seven seals. I heard one of the four living creatures shout with a thunderous voice, “Come!”
ⲁ̅ⲙⲉⲛⲁⲛⲥⲁ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓϩⲓⲏⲃ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲧⲉⲃⲥ ⲁⲓⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲇ̅ ⳿ⲛⲍⲱⲟⲛ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲧ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϧⲁⲣⲁⲃⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲁⲙⲟⲩ.
2 I looked and saw a white horse. Its rider was holding a bow. He was given a crown, and he rode out conquering so that he would be victorious.
ⲃ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲟⲩ⳿ϩⲑⲟ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲃϣ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫⲏⲉⲧϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ϩⲓϫⲱϥ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲫⲓϯ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩϯ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲭⲗⲟⲙ ⲁϥ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉϥϭⲣⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥϭⲣⲟ.
3 When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!”
ⲅ̅ⲉⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛϯⲧⲉⲃⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁϩ⳿ⲥⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲁⲓⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲍⲱⲟⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁϩⲃ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲁⲙⲟⲩ.
4 Another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given a large sword, and the power to take away peace from the earth so that people would slaughter one other.
ⲇ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⲁϥ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲟⲩ⳿ϩⲑⲟ ⳿ⲛⲁⲟⲩⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲭⲣⲱⲙ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫⲏⲉⲧϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ϩⲓϫⲱϥ ⲁⲩϯ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲉⲱⲗⲓ ⳿ⲛϯϩⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲕⲁϩⲓ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉϧⲟⲗϧⲉⲗ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏ ⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛⲥⲏϥⲓ ⲛⲁϥ.
5 When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked and saw a black horse. Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand.
ⲉ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⳿ⲛϯⲧⲉⲃⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁϩⲅ̅ϯ ⲁⲓⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲙⲁϩⲅ̅ ⳿ⲛⲍⲱⲟⲛ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲟⲩ⳿ϩⲑⲟ ⳿ⲛⲭⲁⲙⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫⲏⲉⲧϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ϩⲓϫⲱϥ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲁϣⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲧⲉϥϫⲓϫ.
6 I heard what seemed to be a voice coming from among the four living creatures that said, “Two pounds of wheat cost a day's wages, and three pounds of barley cost the same. But don't damage the oil or the wine.”
ⲋ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲓⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ ⲉⲥⲛⲁϣⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲑⲙⲏϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲇ̅ ⳿ⲛⲍⲱⲟⲛ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲧ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲁϧⲱⲙ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩϫⲁⲡⲓϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ϧⲁ ⲟⲩⲥⲁⲑⲉⲣⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲅ̅ϯ ⳿ⲛϫⲁⲡⲓϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲓⲱⲧ ϧⲁ ⲟⲩⲥⲁⲑⲉⲣⲓ ⲡⲓⲛⲉϩ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲏⲣⲡ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲉⲣⲁⲇⲓⲕⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ.
7 When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature say, “Come!”
ⲍ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⳿ⲛϯⲧⲉⲃⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁϩⲇ̅ ⲁⲓⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲙⲁϩⲇ̅ ⳿ⲛⲍⲱⲟⲛ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲁⲙⲟⲩ.
8 I looked and saw a pale horse. The rider was called Death, and Hades followed him. They received authority over a quarter of the earth to kill people by the sword, by famine, by plague, and by wild beasts. (Hadēs g86)
ⲏ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲟⲩ⳿ϩⲑⲟ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲉⲧⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫⲏⲉⲧϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ϩⲓϫⲱϥ ⲡⲉϥⲣⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲫⲙⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲙⲉⲛϯ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲉϥⲥⲱⲕ ⳿ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩϯⲉⲣϣⲓϣⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲣⲉⲇ̅ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲡⲕⲁϩⲓ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲑⲃⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲥⲏϥⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓ⳿ϩⲕⲟ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓϩⲟϫϩⲉϫ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲑⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲡⲕⲁϩⲓ. (Hadēs g86)
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar those who had been killed because of their dedication to the word of God and their faithful witness.
ⲑ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⳿ⲛϯⲧⲉⲃⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁϩⲉ̅ ⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⲥⲁⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛⲉⲣϣⲱⲟⲩϣⲓ ⳿ⲉⲛⲓ ⲯⲩⲭⲏ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲉⲧⲁⲩϧⲉⲗϧⲱⲗⲟⲩ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲡⲓⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲙⲉⲑⲣⲉ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁⲥ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧⲟⲩ.
10 They cried out, shouting, “How long, Lord who is holy and true, before you will judge and bring to justice those on earth who spilled our blood?”
ⲓ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ϣⲁ ⳿ⲑⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲛⲏⲃ ⲫⲏⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⳿ⲕϯϩⲁⲡ ⲁⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲕϭⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡⲉⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲓϣ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳿ⲥⲛⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲧϣⲟⲡ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲕⲁϩⲓ.
11 Each one of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait for a little longer until their number was complete—their fellow-believers and brothers who would be killed like them.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲃϣ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩϫⲟⲥ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲩ⳿ⲙⲧⲟⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲕⲉⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲏⲟⲩ ϣⲁⲧⲟⲩϫⲱⲕ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲉⲃⲓⲁⲓⲕ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁϧⲟⲑⲃⲟⲩ ϩⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲣⲏϯ.
12 When he opened the sixth seal there was a tremendous earthquake. The sun turned black like hair sackcloth and the whole moon turned red like blood.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲓⲛⲁⲩ ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⳿ⲛϯ ⲙⲁϩⲋ̅ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲃⲥ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛⲙⲉⲛ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲫⲣⲏ ⲁϥ⳿ⲭⲙⲟⲙ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲱⲕ ⳿ⲙϥⲱⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲓⲓⲟϩ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲁϥⲉⲣ⳿ⲥⲛⲟϥ.
13 The stars of heaven fell to earth like unripe figs falling from a fig tree shaken by a windstorm.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲓⲥⲓⲟⲩ ⲁⲩϥⲟⲣϥⲉⲣ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲫⲉ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲕⲁϩⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲃⲱ ⳿ⲛⲕⲉⲛⲧⲉ ⲁ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛⲑⲏⲟⲩ ϥⲟⲣϥⲉⲣ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲥⲃⲏϣ.
14 The sky disappeared like a scroll rolling up, and all the mountains and islands were moved from where they were.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲧⲫⲉ ⲉⲩⲕⲱⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϫⲱⲙ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲧⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲥⲟⲥ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲁⲩⲕⲓⲙ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲟⲩⲙⲁ.
15 The kings of the earth, the great leaders, the wealthy, the powerful, and all people, slave or free, hid themselves in caves and among the rocks in the mountains.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲡⲕⲁϩⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲭⲓⲗⲓⲁⲣⲭⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲣⲁⲙⲁⲟⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓϫⲱⲣⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲣⲉⲙϩⲉⲩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲭⲟⲡⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲏⲃ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲭⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲡⲉⲧⲣⲁ.
16 They called on the mountains and the rocks, telling them, “Fall upon us! Hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne, and from the judgment of the Lamb.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲥⲉϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲡⲉⲧⲣⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲧⲱⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ϩⲉⲓ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲭⲟⲡⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲁ ⳿ⲡϩⲟ ⳿ⲙⲫⲏⲉⲧϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲑⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲁ⳿ⲧϩⲏ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓϫⲱⲛⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓϩⲓⲏⲃ.
17 For the terrible day of their judgment has come, and who can stand against it?”
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ϫⲉ ⲁϥ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϥϫⲱⲛⲧ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⳿ϣϫⲟⲙ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲟϩⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥ⳿ⲙⲑⲟ
