< Revelation 17 >
1 One of the seven angels with the seven bowls came and talked with me. “Come here,” he said, “and I will show you the judgment of the infamous prostitute that sits beside many waters.
Ọ̀kan nínú àwọn angẹli méje náà tí ó ní ìgò méje wọ̀n-ọn-nì sì wá, ó sì ba mi sọ̀rọ̀ wí pé, “Wá níhìn-ín; èmi ó sì fi ìdájọ́ àgbèrè ńlá ní tí ó jókòó lórí omi púpọ̀ han ọ,
2 The kings of the earth have committed adultery with her, and those who live on the earth became drunk on the wine of her immorality.”
ẹni tí àwọn ọba ayé bá ṣe àgbèrè, tí a sì fi ọtí wáìnì àgbèrè rẹ̀ pa àwọn tí ń gbé inú ayé.”
3 Then he carried me off in the Spirit to a deserted place, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that had seven heads and ten horns and was covered in blasphemous names.
Ó sì gbé mi nínú ẹ̀mí lọ sí aginjù: mo sì rí obìnrin kan ó jókòó lórí ẹranko aláwọ̀ òdòdó kan tí ó kún fún orúkọ ọ̀rọ̀-òdì, ó ní orí méje àti ìwo mẹ́wàá.
4 The woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and wore jewelry made of gold and gems and pearls. She held in her hand a golden cup full of obscene things and her disgusting immorality.
A sì fi aṣọ elése àlùkò àti aṣọ òdòdó wọ obìnrin náà, a sì fi wúrà àti òkúta iyebíye àti perli ṣe é ní ọ̀ṣọ́, ó ní ago wúrà kan ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀, tí ó kún fún ìríra àti fún ẹ̀gbin àgbèrè rẹ̀;
5 A name of mystery was written on her forehead: Babylon the Great, the Mother of Prostitutes and of the World's Obscene Things.
àti níwájú rẹ̀ ni orúkọ kan tí a kọ: Ohun ìjìnlẹ̀ Babeli ńlá ìyá àwọn panṣágà àti àwọn ohun ìríra ayé.
6 I saw that the woman was drunk on the blood of believers, and on the blood of martyrs who had died for Jesus. When I saw her, I was totally amazed.
Mo sì rí obìnrin náà mu ẹ̀jẹ̀ àwọn ènìyàn mímọ́, àti ẹ̀jẹ̀ àwọn ajẹ́rìí ikú Jesu ní àmuyó. Nígbà tí mo sì rí i, ẹnu yà mi gidigidi.
7 The angel asked me, “Why were you amazed? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and the beast she rode which has seven heads and ten horns.
Angẹli sì wí fún mi pé, “Nítorí kí ni ẹnu ṣe yà ọ́? Èmi ó sọ ti ìjìnlẹ̀ obìnrin náà fún ọ, àti ti ẹranko tí ó gùn, ti ó ní orí méje àti ìwo mẹ́wàá.
8 The beast you saw once was, but is not, will soon come up again out of the Abyss, and will then be completely destroyed. Those that live on the earth who don't have their names written in the book of life will be amazed when they see the beast that once was but is not, and yet shall return. (Abyssos )
Ẹranko tí ìwọ ri nì, o ti wà, kò sì ṣí mọ́, yóò sì ti inú ọ̀gbun gòkè wá, yóò sì lọ sínú ìparun rẹ. Àwọn olùgbé ayé ti a kọ orúkọ wọn sínú ìwé iye láti ìpilẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ayé, nígbà tí wọn ń wò ẹranko tí o ti wà, tí kò sì ṣí mọ́, tí ó sì ń bọ̀ wá, ẹnu si ya wọn. (Abyssos )
9 A mind that has understanding is needed here. The seven heads are seven hills where the woman sits,
“Níhìn-ín ni ìtumọ̀ tí o ní ọgbọ́n wà. Orí méje ni òkè ńlá méje ni, lórí èyí tí obìnrin náà jókòó.
10 they are seven kings. Five have already fallen, one is reigning now, and the last is still to come—and his reign will be short.
Ọba méje sì ní wọn: àwọn márùn-ún ṣubú, ọ̀kan ń bẹ, ọ̀kan ìyókù kò sì tí ì dé; nígbà tí ó bá sì dé, yóò dúró fún ìgbà kúkúrú.
11 The beast that was, and is not, is also an eighth king and belongs to the seven. He too will be completely destroyed.
Ẹranko tí ó sì ti wà, tí kò sì ṣí, òun náà sì ni ẹ̀kẹjọ, ó sì ti inú àwọn méje náà wá, ó sì lọ sí ìparun.
12 The ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not begun to reign yet. However, they will be given authority to reign as kings together with the beast for one hour.
“Ìwo mẹ́wàá tí ìwọ sì rí ni ọba mẹ́wàá ni wọn, tí wọn kò ì ti gba ìjọba; ṣùgbọ́n wọn gba àṣẹ bí ọba pẹ̀lú ẹranko náà fún wákàtí kan.
13 They have one agreed purpose: to give their power and authority to the beast.
Àwọn wọ̀nyí ní inú kan, wọ́n yóò sì fi agbára àti ọlá wọn fún ẹranko náà.
14 They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will defeat them for he is Lord of lords and King of kings. His followers are called and chosen, and they trust in him.”
Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni yóò si máa bá Ọ̀dọ́-Àgùntàn jagun, Ọ̀dọ́-Àgùntàn náà yóò sì ṣẹ́gun wọn: nítorí òun ni Olúwa àwọn Olúwa, àti ọba àwọn ọba: àwọn tí ó sì wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, tí a pè, tí a yàn, tí wọ́n sì jẹ́ olóòtítọ́ yóò sì ṣẹ́gun pẹ̀lú.”
15 The angel went on to explain to me, “The waters that you saw where the harlot was sitting represent peoples, crowds of people, nations, and languages.
Ó sì wí fún mi pé, “Àwọn omi tí ìwọ ti rí ni, níbi tí àgbèrè náà jókòó, àwọn ènìyàn àti ẹ̀yà àti orílẹ̀ àti onírúurú èdè ni wọ́n.
16 The ten horns that you saw and the beast will detest the prostitute, and will take away everything she has and strip her naked, eat her flesh and burn her to ashes.
Àti ìwo mẹ́wàá tí ìwọ rí, àti ẹranko náà, àwọn wọ̀nyí ni yóò kórìíra àgbèrè náà, wọn ó sì sọ ọ́ di ahoro àti ẹni ìhòhò, wọn ó sì jẹ ẹran-ara rẹ̀, wọn ó sì fi iná sun ún pátápátá.
17 For God put into their minds to do what he wanted, to have one agreed purpose: to give their kingdom to the beast—and so God's words will be fulfilled.
Nítorí Ọlọ́run ti fi sínú ọkàn wọn láti mú ìfẹ́ rẹ̀ ṣẹ, láti ní inú kan, àti láti fi ìjọba wọn fún ẹranko náà, títí ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run yóò fi ṣẹ.
18 The woman you saw is the great city which rules over the kings of the earth.”
Obìnrin tí ìwọ rí ní ìlú ńlá ni, tí ń jẹ ọba lórí àwọn ọba ilẹ̀ ayé.”
