Revelation 13
1 And the dragon stood on the sea shore. Then I saw a beast rising out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten small crowns on his horns, and had blasphemous names on his heads.
Ja se asettui seisomaan meren hiekalle. Ja minä näin pedon nousevan merestä; sillä oli kymmenen sarvea ja seitsemän päätä, ja sarvissansa kymmenen kruunua, ja sen päihin oli kirjoitettu pilkkaavia nimiä.
2 The beast I saw looked like a leopard, but his feet looked like those of a bear, and his mouth looked like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power, his throne, and great authority.
Ja peto, jonka minä näin, oli leopardin näköinen, ja sen jalat ikäänkuin karhun, ja sen kita niinkuin leijonan kita. Ja lohikäärme antoi sille voimansa ja valtaistuimensa ja suuren vallan.
3 One of his heads seemed to have suffered a death-blow, but this fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder at the beast,
Ja minä näin yhden sen päistä olevan ikäänkuin kuoliaaksi haavoitetun, mutta sen kuolinhaava parantui. Ja koko maa seurasi ihmetellen petoa.
4 and they worshiped the dragon because he had given his authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, asking “Who is like the beast? Who could defeat him?”
Ja he kumarsivat lohikäärmettä, koska se oli antanut sellaisen vallan pedolle, ja kumarsivat petoa sanoen: "Kuka on pedon vertainen, ja kuka voi sotia sitä vastaan?"
5 He was given the ability to make great boasts and speak blasphemies, and he was also given the authority to do this for forty-two months.
Ja sille annettiin suu puhua suuria sanoja ja pilkkapuheita, ja sille annettiin valta tehdä sitä neljäkymmentä kaksi kuukautta.
6 As soon as he opened his mouth he spoke blasphemies against God, insulting his character, his sanctuary, and those who live in heaven.
Ja se avasi suunsa Jumalaa pilkkaamaan, pilkatakseen hänen nimeänsä ja hänen majaansa, niitä, jotka taivaassa asuvat.
7 The beast was given power to attack believers and defeat them, and he was also given authority over every people, tribe, language, and nation.
Ja sille annettiin valta käydä sotaa pyhiä vastaan ja voittaa heidät, ja sen valtaan annettiin kaikki sukukunnat ja kansat ja kielet ja kansanheimot.
8 Everybody living on earth will worship him, those whose names had not been written in the book of life—the book of life that belongs to the Lamb slain from the beginning of the world.
Ja kaikki maan päällä asuvaiset kumartavat sitä, jokainen, jonka nimi ei ole kirjoitettu teurastetun Karitsan elämänkirjaan, hamasta maailman perustamisesta.
9 If you have ears, listen!
Jos kenellä on korva, hän kuulkoon.
10 Anyone who has to go into captivity will go into captivity; anyone who has to die by the sword will die by the sword. This demonstrates the patient endurance and confidence in God of the believers.
Jos kuka vankeuteen vie, niin hän itse vankeuteen joutuu; jos kuka miekalla tappaa, hänet pitää miekalla tapettaman. Tässä on pyhien kärsivällisyys ja usko.
11 Then I saw another beast, rising up from the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon.
Ja minä näin toisen pedon nousevan maasta, ja sillä oli kaksi sarvea niinkuin karitsan sarvet, ja se puhui niinkuin lohikäärme.
12 He imposed the same authority as the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and those who live there worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.
Ja se käyttää kaikkea ensimmäisen pedon valtaa sen nähden ja saattaa maan ja siinä asuvaiset kumartamaan ensimmäistä petoa, sitä, jonka kuolinhaava parani.
13 He performed great miracles, even bringing fire down from heaven to earth while people watched.
Ja se tekee suuria ihmeitä, niin että saa tulenkin taivaasta lankeamaan maahan ihmisten nähden.
14 He deceived those who live on the earth by the miracles he performed on behalf of the beast, ordering the people that they should make an image for the beast who had received the fatal sword wound but came back to life.
Ja se villitsee maan päällä asuvaiset niillä ihmeillä, joita sen sallittiin tehdä pedon nähden; se yllyttää maan päällä asuvaiset tekemään sen pedon kuvan, jossa oli miekanhaava ja joka virkosi.
15 He was permitted to breathe life into the image of the beast so that it could speak, ordering anyone who did not worship it put to death.
Ja sille annettiin valta antaa pedon kuvalle henki, että pedon kuva puhuisikin ja saisi aikaan, että ketkä vain eivät kumartaneet pedon kuvaa, ne tapettaisiin.
16 He made everyone, whether weak or powerful, rich or poor, free or slave, receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads.
Ja se saa kaikki, pienet ja suuret, sekä rikkaat että köyhät, sekä vapaat että orjat, panemaan merkin oikeaan käteensä tai otsaansa,
17 Nobody was permitted to buy or sell except those who had the mark, which was the name of the beast or the number of his name.
ettei kukaan muu voisi ostaa eikä myydä kuin se, jossa on merkki: pedon nimi tai sen nimen luku.
18 Wisdom is needed here. Whoever has understanding should calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is 666.
Tässä on viisaus. Jolla ymmärrys on, se laskekoon pedon luvun; sillä se on ihmisen luku. Ja sen luku on kuusisataa kuusikymmentä kuusi.
