< Psalms 1 >

1 Happy are those who don't follow the advice of the wicked. They refuse to adopt the ways of sinful people, and they don't make fun of others.
‌ʻOku monūʻia ʻae tangata ʻoku ʻikai ʻeveʻeva ʻi he fakakaukau ʻae angakovi, pe tuʻu ʻi he hala ʻoe kau angahala, pe nofo ʻi he nofoʻa ʻoe manuki.
2 Instead they love to do what the law of the Lord says, and they think about it day and night.
Ka ko ʻene fiefia ʻoku ʻi he fono ʻa Sihova; pea ko ʻene fono ʻoku ne fakalaulauloto ai ʻi he ʻaho mo e pō.
3 They're like trees growing by flowing rivers, producing fruit every season. Their leaves never wither, and they are successful in all they do.
Pea ʻe tatau ia mo e ʻakau kuo tō ki he veʻe vaitafe, ʻaia ʻoku ʻomi hono fua ʻi hono faʻahitaʻu; pea ko hono lau foki ʻe ʻikai mae; pea ko ia kotoa pē ʻoku ne fai ʻe monūʻia.
4 But it's not like that for the wicked! They are like chaff, blown away by the wind.
‌ʻOku ʻikai pehē ʻae angakovi: ka ʻoku tatau ia mo e kafukafu ʻaia ʻoku vilingia, ʻi he matangi.
5 For this reason the wicked will not survive the judgment—sinners have no place among those who live right.
Ko ia ʻe ʻikai tuʻu ʻae angakovi ʻi he fakamaau, pe ko e angahala ʻi he fakataha ʻoe māʻoniʻoni.
6 For the Lord watches over those who follow the right way, but the way of the wicked leads to death.
He ʻoku ʻilo ʻe Sihova ʻae hala ʻoe māʻoniʻoni: ka ko e hala ʻoe angakovi ʻe ʻauha ia.
