Psalms 99

1 The Lord reigns; let the nations tremble! He sits on his throne above the cherubim; let the earth shake!

L’Eternel règne: les nations tremblent; il siège sur les Chérubins: la terre vacille.

2 The Lord rules supreme in Zion, he is sovereign over all the nations.

L’Eternel est grand dans Sion, élevé bien au-dessus de toutes les nations.

3 Let them praise his greatness, and respect him for who he is—for he is holy,

Qu’on rende hommage à ton nom grand et redoutable: il est saint!

4 having kingly power. You love justice; you make impartial decisions. You have made sure everything is done in fairness and according to what's right.

La force du roi, c’est l’amour de la justice. C’Est toi qui as fondé solidement l’équité, exercé le droit et la justice dans Jacob.

5 Give respect to the Lord our God! Bow down at his feet, for he is holy!

Exaltez l’Eternel, notre Dieu, prosternez-vous devant l’escabeau de ses pieds: il est saint!

6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests; Samuel also prayed to him. They called out to the Lord for help, and he answered them.

Moïse et Aaron étaient parmi ses prêtres, Samuel parmi ceux qui invoquaient son nom: ils criaient vers l’Eternel et il leur répondait.

7 He spoke to the people from the pillar of cloud, and they kept the laws and decrees he gave them.

Dans une colonne de nuée il leur parlait; ils demeuraient fidèles à ses statuts, aux lois qu’il leur avait données.

8 Lord our God, you answered them. You were a forgiving God to them, but you punished them when they did wrong.

Eternel, notre Dieu, tu les exauçais; tu étais pour eux un Dieu enclin au pardon, mais exerçant des représailles pour leurs fautes.

9 Honor the Lord our God, and worship at his holy mountain. For the Lord our God is holy!

Exaltez l’Eternel, notre Dieu, prosternez-vous sur sa montagne sainte, car il est saint, l’Eternel, notre Dieu.
