< Psalms 92 >
1 A psalm. A song for the Sabbath day. How good it is to thank the Lord, to sing praises to you, Most High,
A Canticle Psalm. On the day of the Sabbath. It is good to confess to the Lord and to sing psalms to your name, O Most High:
2 to tell of your trustworthy love in the morning, and your faithfulness in the night,
to announce your mercy in the morning, and your truth throughout the night,
3 to the music of a ten-stringed harp and the melody of a lyre.
upon the ten strings, upon the psaltery, with a canticle, upon stringed instruments.
4 You've made me so happy, Lord, because of all you've done for me! I sing for joy at what you've done!
For you, O Lord, have delighted me with your doings, and I will exult in the works of your hands.
5 Lord, what you do is amazing; your thoughts are very profound!
How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts have been made exceedingly deep.
6 Only senseless people and fools don't know and understand this:
A foolish man will not know these things, and a senseless one will not understand:
7 even though the wicked grow up quickly like grass, and even though people who do evil flourish, they will be destroyed forever!
when sinners will have risen up like grass, and when all those who work iniquity will have appeared, that they shall pass away, age after age.
8 But you, Lord, rule on high forever.
But you, O Lord, are the Most High for all eternity.
9 Your enemies, Lord, your enemies will die; everyone who does evil will be destroyed!
For behold your enemies, O Lord, for behold your enemies will perish, and all those who work iniquity will be dispersed.
10 But you have made me as powerful as a wild bull; you have anointed me with the best olive oil.
And my horn will be exalted like that of the single-horned beast, and my old age will be exalted in fruitful mercy.
11 My eyes look with pleasure to see my enemies defeated; my ears have heard the downfall of those who tried to attack me.
And my eye has looked down upon my enemies, and my ear will hear of the malignant rising up against me.
12 Those who live right flourish like a palm tree; they grow tall like a cedar tree in Lebanon.
The just one will flourish like the palm tree. He will be multiplied like the cedar of Lebanon.
13 They are planted in the house of the Lord; they thrive in the courts of our God.
Those planted in the house of the Lord will flourish in the courts of the house of our God.
14 Even when they are old they will still produce fruit, staying fresh and green.
They will still be multiplied in a fruitful old age, and they will endure well,
15 They will declare, “The Lord does what is right! He is my rock! There is no wrong in him!”
so that they may announce that the Lord our God is righteous and that there is no iniquity in him.
