Psalms 91
1 Those who live under the protection of the Most High are kept safe by the Almighty.
Erste Stimme: / Unter dem Schutze des Höchsten wohnend, / In des Allmächtigen Schatten weilend —
2 This is what I say about the Lord: “He is the one who defends and protects me. He is my God, and I trust in him.”
Sprech ich zu Jahwe: "Meine Zuflucht und Burg, / Mein Gott, auf den ich vertraue!"
3 For he will save you from hidden traps and deadly diseases.
Zweite Stimme: / Denn er wird dich erretten von des Voglers Strick, / Von der verderblichen Pest.
4 He will hide you under his feathers, and shelter you with his wings. His trustworthiness shields and protects you.
Mit seiner Schwinge decket er dich, / Unter seinen Flügeln bist du geborgen. / Schild und Panzer ist seine Treu.
5 You will not be afraid of terror at night or an arrow that flies in the day,
Du hast nicht zu fürchten die Schrecken der Nacht, / Den Pfeil, der am Tage daherfliegt,
6 or disease that attacks at night, or catastrophe that falls at noon.
Auch nicht die Pest, die im Dunkeln schleicht, / Noch die Seuche, die wütet am Mittag.
7 A thousand may fall beside you, ten thousand die at your right hand, but you won't be harmed.
Wenn tausend an deiner Seite fallen / Und zehntausend zu deiner Rechten: / Du wirst nicht getroffen.
8 You only have to open your eyes and you will see how the wicked are repaid.
Nur mit deinen Augen schauest du hin / Und wirst sehn die Vergeltung der Frevler.
9 Because you have made the Lord your protection, and the Most High your home,
Erste Stimme: / Ja, du, o Jahwe, bist meine Zuversicht. / Zweite Stimme: / Den Höchsten hast du zur Zuflucht erwählt.
10 nothing evil will happen to you; no plague will come near where you live.
Nicht wird dir ein Unglück begegnen, / Keine Plage wird deinem Zelte nahn.
11 For he will command his angels to take care of you in everything you do.
Denn seine Engel wird er dir entbieten, / Dich zu behüten auf all deinen Wegen.
12 They will hold you up with their hands so you won't trip and fall down.
Sie werden dich auf den Händen tragen, / Damit sich dein Fuß nicht stoße am Stein.
13 You will trample lions and snakes; you will tread young lions and serpents underfoot.
Über Löwen und Ottern wirst du schreiten, / Zertreten Jungleuen und Schlangen.
14 I will save anyone who loves me; I will protect anyone who accepts me.
Dritte Stimme (die im Namen Gottes redet): / Weil er mich liebt, will ich ihn befrein. / Ich will ihn schützen, weil er meinen Namen kennt.
15 When they call out to me for help, I will answer; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will save and honor them.
Er ruft mich an, ich erhör ihn. / Ich werde mit ihm in Drangsal sein; / Ich reiß ihn heraus und bring ihn zu Ehren.
16 I will grant them long lives, and show them my salvation.
Mit langem Leben sättige ich ihn / Und will ihn schauen lassen mein Heil.
