< Psalms 57 >
1 For the music director. According to “Do Not Destroy.” A psalm (miktam) of David concerning the time he fled from Saul and hid in the cave. Please be kind to me, God! Be kind to me because I come to you for protection. I will shelter under the shadow of your wings until the danger is past.
Ki he Takimuʻa, ʻAli-Tasikiti, ko e Saame mahuʻinga ʻa Tevita, ʻi heʻene hola meia Saula ʻi he ʻana. Ke ke ʻaloʻofa kiate au, ʻE ʻOtua, ke ke ʻaloʻofa kiate au: he ʻoku falala hoku laumālie kiate koe: ʻio, pea te u hūfanga ʻi he malu ʻo ho kapakau, ke ʻoua ke mole ʻo ngata ʻae ngaahi kovi ni.
2 I cry out for help to God Most High, to God who vindicates me.
Te u tangi ki he ʻOtua fungani māʻolunga, ki he ʻOtua ʻoku fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē maʻaku.
3 From heaven he sends his help, and he saves me. He defeats those who persecute me. (Selah) God sends me his unfailing love, showing he is completely trustworthy.
Pea te ne fekau mei he langi, ʻo fakamoʻui au, mei he lauʻikovi ʻo ia ʻoku ne fie folo au ke ʻosi. (Sila) ʻE fekau atu ʻe he ʻOtua ʻene ʻaloʻofa mo ʻene moʻoni.
4 I am surrounded by man-eating lions—I am forced to live with them! Their teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongues are swords.
ʻOku ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe fanga laione hoku laumālie: pea ʻoku ou tokoto mo kinautolu kuo vela, ʻio, ʻae ngaahi foha ʻoe tangata, ko honau nifo ko e ngaahi tao mo e ngahau, pea ko honau ʻelelo ko e heletā māsila.
5 God, your greatness is above the highest heavens; and your glory covers the whole earth!
ʻE ʻOtua, ke māʻolunga lahi hake koe ʻi he ngaahi langi; tuku ke māʻolunga hake ho nāunau ʻi māmani kotoa pē.
6 They set a trap to catch me. I was so depressed. They dug a pit on my path but they were the ones who fell into it. (Selah)
Kuo nau teuteu ʻae kupenga ki hoku tuʻunga vaʻe; kuo mapelu ki lalo hoku laumālie: naʻa nau keli ʻae luo ʻi hoku ʻao, pea kuo tō ki ai ʻakinautolu. (Sila)
7 I have confidence in you, God, I have confidence in you. I will sing songs of praise to you.
ʻOku maʻu hoku loto, ʻE ʻOtua, ʻoku maʻu hoku loto: te u hiva mo ʻatu ʻae fakamālō.
8 I say to myself, “Wake up!” Wake up, harp and lyre! I will wake up the dawn!
Ke ʻā hake, ʻa hoku nāunau; ʻā hake, ʻae saliteli mo e haʻape: te u ʻā hengihengi hake pe au.
9 I will thank you among the peoples, Lord; I will sing your praises among the nations.
ʻE ʻEiki, te u fakamālō kiate koe ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai: te u hiva kiate koe ʻi he ngaahi puleʻanga.
10 Your faithful love reaches to the heavens; your trustworthiness to the clouds.
He ʻoku lahi hoʻo ʻaloʻofa ʻo aʻu ki he ngaahi langi, mo hoʻo moʻoni ki he ngaahi ʻao.
11 God, your greatness is above the highest heavens; and your glory covers the whole earth!
ʻE ʻOtua, ke māʻolunga lahi hake koe ʻi he ngaahi langi: tuku ke māʻolunga hake ho nāunau ʻi māmani kotoa pē.
