Psalms 54

1 For the music director. With stringed instruments. A psalm (maskil) of David, concerning the time when the Ziphites came to Saul and told him, “David is hiding among us.” God, because of your very nature, please save me! Vindicate me by your power!

Dem Musikmeister, mit Saitenspiel, ein Maskil von David, als die Siphiter kamen und zu Saul sprachen: Weißt du wohl, daß sich David bei uns verborgen hält? Hilf mir, o Gott, durch deinen Namen und führe meine Sache durch deine Stärke!

2 God, please hear my prayer; listen to what I'm saying.

Höre, o Gott, mein Gebet, vernimm die Worte meines Mundes.

3 For strangers are coming to attack me—violent men who don't care about God are trying to kill me. (Selah)

Denn Vermessene haben sich wider mich erhoben und Gewaltthätige trachten mir nach dem Leben; sie haben sich Gott nicht vor Augen gestellt. (Sela)

4 But God helps me; the Lord saves my life!

Fürwahr, Gott ist mein Helfer; der Herr ist's, der meine Seele stützt!

5 The evil my enemies have done will come back upon them. I depend on you to destroy them.

Das Böse wird auf meine Feinde zurückfallen; vertilge sie nach deiner Treue!

6 I will happily offer a sacrifice to you; I will praise the kind of person you are, Lord, for you are good.

So will ich dir freiwillige Opfer bringen, will deinen Namen preisen, Jahwe, daß er so gütig ist,

7 For he has saved me from all my troubles; and I have seen those who hated me defeated.

daß er mich aus aller Not errettet, und mein Auge seine Lust gesehen hat an seinen Feinden.
