Psalms 48

1 For the music director. A psalm of the sons of Korah. The Lord is supreme! He deserves praise in the city of our God on his holy mountain.

Ein Lied; ein Psalm. Von den Kindern Korahs. Groß ist der HERR und hoch gelobt in der Stadt unsres Gottes, auf seinem heiligen Berge.

2 Mount Zion is high and beautiful, bringing happiness to all the earth; on the northern side is the city of the great King.

Schön erhebt sich der Berg Zion, die Freude des ganzen Landes; auf der Seite gegen Mitternacht ist die Stadt des großen Königs.

3 God himself is in the city's fortresses; he is recognized as its defender.

Gott ist in ihren Palästen bekannt als eine feste Burg.

4 Look at what happened when foreign kings joined forces and came to attack the city.

Denn siehe, Könige haben sich verbündet und sind miteinander vorübergezogen.

5 As soon as they saw it they were astonished and ran away terrified.

Sie haben sich verwundert, als sie solches sahen; sie erschraken und flohen davon.

6 They shook all over, and were in agonizing pain like a woman giving birth,

Zittern ergriff sie daselbst, Angst wie eine Gebärende.

7 just as the strong east wind wrecks the ships from Tarshish.

Durch den Ostwind zerbrichst du Tarsisschiffe.

8 Just as we had heard, but now we have seen the city of the Lord Almighty. This is the city of our God; he makes it secure forever. (Selah)

Wie wir's gehört, so haben wir's gesehen in der Stadt des HERRN der Heerscharen, in der Stadt unsres Gottes. Gott wird sie erhalten bis in Ewigkeit. (Pause)

9 God, we recall your trustworthy love as we worship in the Temple.

Wir gedenken, o Gott, deiner Gnade inmitten deines Tempels.

10 As is fitting for your reputation, God, praises to you stretch all around the world. What you do is always right!

O Gott, wie dein Name, also reicht auch dein Ruhm bis an die Enden der Erde; deine Rechte ist voller Gerechtigkeit.

11 Let the people of Mount Zion be glad; let the people of Judah celebrate because your judgments are always fair!

Der Berg Zion freut sich, die Töchter Judas frohlocken um deiner Gerichte willen.

12 Go and take a look at Zion. Count the towers as you walk around.

Geht rings um Zion, umwandelt sie, zählt ihre Türme!

13 Inspect the fortifications. Examine the citadels, so you can describe everything to the next generation, telling them:

Beachtet ihre Bollwerke, durchgehet ihre Paläste, auf daß ihr es den Nachkommen erzählet,

14 “This is who our God is. He is our God forever and ever. He himself will lead us until the very end.”

daß dieser Gott unser Gott ist immer und ewig; er führt uns über den Tod hinweg!
