Psalms 46
1 For the music director by the sons of Korah. According to alamoth, a song. God is our protection and our strength; always ready to help when troubles come.
Au chef des chantres. Par les fils de Coré. Cantique sur les Alamoth. Dieu est pour nous un abri, une force, un appui dans les tourments, facilement accessible.
2 So we will not be afraid though the earth shakes, though the mountains fall into the depths of the sea,
Aussi ne craindrons-nous rien, dût la terre bouger de sa place, et les montagnes s’abîmer au sein de l’Océan;
3 though the waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble as the waters surge violently! (Selah)
dussent ses flots gronder et bouillonner, et les montagnes trembler quand il entre en fureur!
4 A river flows to bring happiness to those in God's city, the holy place where the Most High lives.
Le fleuve…! Ses ondes réjouissent la ville de Dieu, demeure sainte du Très-Haut.
5 God is in the midst of the city; it will never fall. God protects it as soon as it is light.
Dieu réside au milieu d’elle: elle ne sera point ébranlée, Dieu venant à son secours dès le lever de l’aurore.
6 Nations are in turmoil, kingdoms collapse. God raises his voice and the earth melts.
Les peuples s’agitent, les royaumes chancellent; il fait retentir sa voix: la terre se liquéfie!
7 The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob protects us. (Selah)
L’Eternel-Cebaot est avec nous, le Dieu de Jacob est une citadelle pour nous. (Sélah)
8 Come and see what the Lord has achieved! See the amazing things he has done on the earth!
Venez, contemplez les œuvres de l’Eternel, qui a opéré des ruines sur la terre!
9 He stops wars all over the world. He smashes the bow; he breaks the spear; he sets shields on fire.
Il met fin aux guerres jusqu’aux confins du globe, il brise les arcs, met en pièces les lances, et livre au feu les chars des combats.
10 Stop fighting! Recognize I am God! I am the ruler of the nations; I am the ruler of the earth.
Tenez-vous cois et sachez que moi, je suis Dieu, grand parmi les peuples, grand sur la terre!
