< Psalms 34 >

1 A psalm of David concerning the time he pretended to be mad in front of Abimelech who then sent him away. I will always bless the Lord; my mouth will continually praise him.
Ko e Saame ʻa Tevita, ʻi heʻene liliu ʻene tōʻonga ʻi he ʻao ʻo ʻApimeleki; ʻaia naʻa ne kapusi ia, pea ʻalu ia ʻo hao. Te u fakafetaʻi kia Sihova ʻi he kuonga kotoa pē: ʻe tuʻumaʻu pe ʻene fakafetaʻi ʻi hoku ngutu.
2 From the bottom of my heart I am proud of the Lord; those who are humble will hear and be happy.
‌ʻE vikiviki hoku laumālie ʻia Sihova: ʻe fanongo ki ai ʻae kakai angavaivai, pea fiefia ai.
3 Glorify God with me; together let's honor his reputation.
Ketau fai mo au ke hapai hake ʻa Sihova, pea ketau fakaongoongolelei fakataha hono huafa.
4 I asked the Lord for help, and he answered me. He set me free from all my fears.
Naʻaku kumi kia Sihova, pea ne ongoʻi au, ʻo ne fakamoʻui au mei heʻeku manavahē kotoa pē.
5 The faces of those who look to him will shine with joy; they will never be downcast with shame.
Naʻa nau vakai kiate ia, pea māmangia ai: pea naʻe ʻikai mā ai honau mata.
6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard me, and saved me from all my troubles.
Naʻe tangi ʻae tangata masiva ni, pea naʻe ongoʻi ia ʻe Sihova, ʻo ne fakamoʻui ia mei heʻene mamahi kotoa pē.
7 The angel of the Lord stands guard over all those who honor him, keeping them safe.
‌ʻOku nofo ʻae ʻāngelo ʻa Sihova ʻo takatakai ʻakinautolu ʻoku manavahē kiate ia, ʻo ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu.
8 Taste, and you will see that the Lord is good! How happy are those who trust in his protection!
Mou kamata ʻo vakai ʻoku lelei ʻa Sihova: ʻoku monūʻia ʻae tangata ko ia ʻoku falala kiate ia.
9 Show your reverence for the Lord, you who are his holy people, for those who respect him have everything they need.
Ke manavahē kia Sihova, ʻakimoutolu ko ʻene kau māʻoniʻoni: he ʻoku ʻikai ha masiva kiate kinautolu ʻoku manavahē kiate ia.
10 Lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who trust in the Lord have all that is good.
‌ʻOku masiva ʻae fanga laione mui, mo fiekaia: ka ko kinautolu ʻoku kumi kia Sihova ʻe ʻikai te nau masiva ʻi ha meʻa lelei ʻe taha.
11 Children, listen to me! I will teach you how to respect the Lord.
Haʻu, ʻakimoutolu ko e fānau, ʻo fanongo kiate au: te u ako kiate kimoutolu ʻae manavahē kia Sihova.
12 Who of you wants to live a long and happy life?
Ko hai ha tangata ʻoku holi ke moʻui, ʻo manako ki he ngaahi ʻaho lahi, koeʻuhi ke ne mamata ai ki he lelei?
13 Then don't let your tongue speak evil, or your lips tell lies.
Taʻofi ho ʻelelo mei he kovi, mo ho loungutu mei he lea kākā.
14 Reject what is evil, do what is good. Look for peace, and work to make it a reality.
Afe mei he kovi, mo ke fai lelei; kumi ki he melino, pea tuli ki ai.
15 The Lord watches over those who do right, and he hears when they cry for help.
‌ʻOku ʻafio maʻu ʻae fofonga ʻo Sihova ki he kakai māʻoniʻoni, pea ʻoku ongoʻi ʻe hono telinga ʻenau tangi.
16 The Lord sets himself against those who do evil. He will wipe out even the memory of them from the earth.
‌ʻOku houhau ʻae fofonga ʻo Sihova kiate kinautolu ʻoku fai kovi, ke motuhi honau fakamanatuʻi mei māmani.
17 But when his people call out for help, he hears them and rescues them from all their troubles.
‌ʻOku tangi ʻae māʻoniʻoni, pea ongoʻi ʻe Sihova, ʻo ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi kotoa pē.
18 The Lord is close beside those who are broken-hearted; he saves those whose spirits are crushed.
‌ʻOku ofi ʻa Sihova kiate kinautolu ʻoku loto mafesi; ʻoku ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu ʻoku laumālie mafōfoa.
19 Those who do right have many problems, but the Lord solves all of them.
‌ʻOku lahi ʻae ngaahi mamahi ʻoe māʻoniʻoni: ka ʻoku fakamoʻui ia mei ai kotoa pē ʻe Sihova.
20 He keeps them safe—not a single one of their bones will be broken.
‌ʻOku ne tauhi hono ngaahi hui kotoa pē: ʻe ʻikai mafesi ha taha.
21 Evil kills the wicked. Those who hate good people will suffer for their wrongdoing.
‌ʻE fakapoongi ʻe he kovi ʻae kau angahala: pea ko kinautolu ʻoku fehiʻa ki he kau māʻoniʻoni te nau malaʻia.
22 The Lord saves the lives of his servants. Those who trust in his protection will not suffer for their wrongdoings.
‌ʻOku huhuʻi ʻe Sihova ʻae laumālie ʻo ʻene kau tamaioʻeiki: pea ʻe ʻikai malaʻia ha tokotaha ʻokinautolu ʻoku falala kiate ia.
