< Psalms 2 >
1 Why are the nations plotting rebellion? The peoples devise schemes, but they're pointless.
Ko e hā ʻoku matalili ai ʻae hiteni? Pea fakalaulauloto ʻae kakai ki he meʻa noa pē?
2 The kings of the world prepare to attack, and the rulers conspire together against the Lord and his anointed one, saying,
ʻOku tuʻu hake fakataha ʻae ngaahi tuʻi ʻo māmani, pea fakakaukau fakataha ʻae kau pule kia Sihova mo ia kuo ne pani, ʻo pehē,
3 “Let's break the chains and throw away the cords that bind us.”
“Ke tau motuhi ʻena ngaahi haʻi pea liʻaki ʻena ngaahi afo ʻiate kitautolu.”
4 But the one who sits enthroned in heaven laughs. The Lord mocks them.
Ko ia ʻoku nofo ʻi he ngaahi langi ʻe kata ia: ʻe manuki ʻa Sihova kiate kinautolu.
5 He will thunder at them, and terrify them in his fury, saying,
Pea te ne toki folofola kiate kinautolu ʻi hono houhau, pea fakamamahiʻi ʻakinautolu ʻi hono tuputāmaki lahi.
6 “It is I who placed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”
Ka kuo u fakanofo ʻeku tuʻi ki Saione, ko e moʻunga ʻo ʻeku māʻoniʻoni.
7 “I will proclaim the Lord's decree,” says the king. “He told me, ‘You are my son. Today I have become your father.
“Te u fakahā ʻae tuʻutuʻuni:” naʻe pehē ʻe Sihova kiate au, “Ko hoku ʻAlo koe kuo u fakatupu koe ʻi he ʻaho ni.
8 Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your possessions—the whole earth will belong to you.
Ke ke lea kiate au, pea te u foaki ʻae ngaahi hiteni ko ho tofiʻa, mo e ngaahi ngataʻanga kotoa pē ʻo māmani moʻou.
9 You will break them with a rod of iron, smashing them like pottery.’”
Te ke maumauʻi ʻakinautolu ʻaki ʻae vaʻa ukamea; pea te ke laiki ke lailai ʻakinautolu ʻo hangē ko e ipu ʻumea.
10 So then you kings, be wise! Be warned, you rulers of the world!
Pea ko eni, ke poto ʻakimoutolu ʻae ngaahi tuʻi: pea maʻu ʻae akonaki ʻakimoutolu ʻae kau fakamaau ʻo māmani.
11 Serve the Lord in reverence, celebrate with trembling!
Tauhi ʻa Sihova ʻi he manavahē, pea fiefia ʻi he tetetete.
12 Submit to his son so that he will not become angry and you die suddenly. His anger flares up quickly, but how happy are all those who go to him for protection.
ʻUma ki he ʻAlo, telia naʻa houhau ia, pea te mou ʻauha mei he hala, ʻoka tupu siʻi pe hono houhau. ʻOku monūʻia ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku falala kiate ia.
