< Psalms 140 >

1 For the music director. A psalm of David. Lord, please save me from those who do evil; protect me especially from those who are violent!
Fún adarí orin. Saamu ti Dafidi. Olúwa, gbà mi lọ́wọ́ ọkùnrin búburú u nì, yọ mí lọ́wọ́ ọkùnrin ìkà a nì,
2 Their minds are busy plotting evil things, stirring up trouble all day long.
ẹni tí ń ro ìwà búburú ní inú wọn; nígbà gbogbo ni wọ́n ń rú ìjà sókè sí mi.
3 Their tongues are as sharp as those of snakes; viper's venom is on their lips. (Selah)
Wọ́n ti pọ́n ahọ́n wọn bí ejò, oró paramọ́lẹ̀ ń bẹ ní abẹ́ ètè wọn.
4 Lord, please keep me from falling into the hands of the wicked; protect me especially from those who are violent, who are plotting my downfall.
Olúwa, pa mí mọ́ kúrò lọ́wọ́ àwọn ènìyàn búburú; yọ mí kúrò lọ́wọ́ ọkùnrin ìkà a nì ẹni tí ó ti pinnu rẹ̀ láti bi ìrìn mi ṣubú.
5 Proud people have hidden a trap for me—they have strung out a net on the path, they have set snares to catch me. (Selah)
Àwọn agbéraga ti dẹkùn sílẹ̀ fún mi àti okùn: wọ́n ti na àwọ̀n lẹ́bàá ọ̀nà; wọ́n ti kẹ́kùn sílẹ̀ fún mi.
6 I told the Lord, “You are my God! Lord, please listen to my cries for help!”
Èmi wí fún Olúwa pé ìwọ ni Ọlọ́run mi; Olúwa, gbọ́ ohùn ẹ̀bẹ̀ mi.
7 Lord God, my powerful Savior, you covered my head like a helmet on the day of battle.
Olúwa Olódùmarè, agbára ìgbàlà mi, ìwọ ni ó bo orí mi mọ́lẹ̀ ní ọjọ́ ìjà.
8 God, don't allow the wicked to get what they want—don't let them be successful in what they plan so they don't become proud. (Selah)
Olúwa, máa ṣe fi ìfẹ́ ènìyàn búburú fún un; má ṣe kún ọgbọ́n búburú rẹ̀ lọ́wọ́; kí wọn kí ó máa ba à gbé ara wọn ga. (Sela)
9 May the harm spoken against me by those who surround me fall back on them,
Bí ó ṣe ti orí àwọn tí ó yí mi káàkiri ni, jẹ́ kí ète ìka ara wọn kí ó bò wọ́n mọ́lẹ̀.
10 Let burning coals rain down on them! Let them be thrown into the fire, or into bottomless pits, never to rise again.
A ó da ẹ̀yin iná sí wọn lára, Òun yóò wọ́ wọn lọ sínú iná, sínú ọ̀gbun omi jíjìn, kí wọn kí ó má ba à le dìde mọ́.
11 Don't let people who slander others live in our land. May disaster strike down violent people.
Má ṣe jẹ́ kí aláhọ́n búburú fi ẹsẹ̀ múlẹ̀ ní ayé; ibi ni yóò máa dọdẹ ọkùnrin ìkà nì láti bì í ṣubú.
12 Yet I know the Lord defends the rights of those who are persecuted, and gives justice to the poor.
Èmi mọ̀ pé, Olúwa yóò mú ọ̀nà olùpọ́njú dúró, yóò sì ṣe ẹ̀tọ́ fún àwọn tálákà.
13 Truly those who live right are thankful for the kind of person you are, and those who are honest will live in your presence.
Nítòótọ́ àwọn olódodo yóò máa fi ọpẹ́ fún orúkọ rẹ; àwọn ẹni dídúró ṣinṣin yóò máa gbé iwájú rẹ.
